Ordered fudge brownie soft serve in a cone and was handed what looked like a vanilla cone with a hint of tan. So I was a little confused but tried it. Not surprisingly it tasted just like it looked, not a hint of chocolate taste. When I asked, I was told the ice cream is flavored with drops and there's no chocolate in it. If I wanted it that way I had to order chocolate chunks in it. I suggested they turn up the machine. I don't think it's unrealistic to expect something called fudge brownie to taste even a little bit like chocolate but maybe that's just me. ‍ read more

Never came down to this side of town but due to the newly renovated Auburn Road, we finally made it! The area is very walkable now with nice sidewalks, benches, and other pretty landmarks. Brain Freeze is all a part of the action. Classic ice cream joint with all the fixings! Plus some savory treats if you need a quick snack. A few picnic tables are in the back of the place along with trees to provide some shade. Parking in the back along with street parking. My only complaint was the wait and the line moving pretty slowly. Great menu though with lots of options including a doggie sundae. I went with a small glacier with blue raspberry - small was a great size and perfect combo of slurpe and ice cream. My husband got a cookies and cream shake and was equally as happy. Our fur child, Goldie loved her pup sundae which included ice cream and a doggie treat! Cute and local ice cream shop and I'm sure many will come visit due to the area being more walkable. read more

We stopped at Brainfreeze randomly one day after not visiting for a few years and now have been coming back often! They offer 52 flavors of soft serve, a few hand dipped flavors, various sundaes, flurries, floats, and more. Not to mention gluten free cones! A huge plus for my celiac family members. I have enjoyed their vanilla and chocolate soft serve but the cake batter had mild flavor and was subpar. However, the black cherry was great and is a favorite of mine! I love the large variety of flavors to pick from on a regular basis. Most recently I tried the brownie delight sundae and the dairy o double o sundae. Both are good! My only issue with the sundaes is how rapidly the ice cream melted. My dairy o double o sundae was already quite melted by the time I received it and the whipped cream was hanging over the edge of the cup. It actually fell off onto the sidewalk taking my cherry with it. I managed to get 2 quick photos before the entire thing fell apart. It was a sticky, melted mess by the time I got to the car. I think this could have been avoided if there was a bigger cup for it to be served in. It was a tasty treat but hard to enjoy. Brainfreeze also offers classic food options such as chicken fingers, hot dogs, soft pretzels, etc. I haven't tried any of the food except for french fries. They are some of the BEST fries available compared to other drive thrus. The fries are very crisp, have good potato flavor, and were not greasy at all. 10/10 on the fries! One important thing to note: the parking. There is mainly only street parking available with a small shared lot next to it. The lot also serves the other businesses in the same strip as Brainfreeze. I believe there is also a very small lot behind the building but I have never used it. We never have issues street parking, but we are not typically going at peak times since we know how busy the evenings can get. The staff is friendly enough, service is fairly quick depending on what you order, and the prices are fair. Overall, I enjoy visiting Brainfreeze when I am in the mood for a treat! read more

We really enjoy Brain Freeze. It's such a cute family store in the middle of a mini-downtown scene in Rochester. The employees are always so kind, and some have even learned the name of our pup that tags along. Sadly, I never have time to take a photo of the wonderful creations we order because we demolish it as soon as we get it! I love their flurries and am excited to keep trying other items on the menu, specifically their dole whip. read more

I asked for watermelon and it was obvious they gave me cherry with a little vanilla. I know it wasn't gonna taste identical to watermelon but it wasn't even convincing. I had high hopes for this place but I wouldn't recommend to everyone unless your gonna go for a classic flavor. read more

I wasn't aware that the banana boat came with chocolate i looked at the menu not once did I see it came with chocolate it had chocolate syrup on the picture and not chocolate Ice cream I then told the lady that I didnt know it came with chocolate ask her can she remake it cause I didn't know because it wasn't told to me or it wasn't on the menu she told me no that I'll have to buy it again gave me real nasty attitude and slammed the screen in my face. read more

I love this place. We can't wait for them to open again soon in spring. I usually get a tin roof sundae but there are times I order the yummy shoestring fries n coney dogs. It is closed for the winter, however, they offer other items other than ice cream. Hot dogs, kielbasa, fries and a slew of other offerings. Check them out when they reopen for the summer season. Lunch specials are offered too. read more

I always see people at this ice cream shop when I drive by so I had to give it a try. Like most ice cream shops, they have a vast array of different flavors. They had a handful of specialty sundaes to choose from. I got the chunky monkey which consists of vanilla soft serve ice cream, hot fudge, bananas, brownie pieces, whipped cream and a cherry on top. The bananas and brownies are cut up into small bite size pieces which made it easy to eat. The downside was the hot fudge was all on the bottom so there were chunks of hot fudge leftover. About 1/3 of the ice cream was melted almost immediately which I assume is from the hot fudge being on the bottom. The ice cream wasn't anything special but just regular vanilla ice cream. If I get this again, I would probably ask for my hot fudge to be on the top or split between top and bottom. They do give you a lot of toppings but I felt the ratio was off with the ice cream. I noticed they have daily specials on food which are great deals so I might stop by and try it out sometime. read more
