When I called to book this event I told the person I was booking with many times that this was for a 9 year old kid birthday party and I was going to book it for my daughter and 7 of her other kid friends. I asked multiple times if this would be a kid friendly activity to do. I was never told that the kids would require 100% help from us throughout the entire escape room experience. This was not at all fun for the kids or the grown ups. I did not book this so that I could do an escape room all by myself with my husband with 6 screaming kids. I was informed that it was kid friendly and the kids would have a good time, this is not at all kid friendly. I was misinformed over the phone and our daughter did not have a good birthday. I sent this as an email to them but got 0 response. So I will post it here to inform other parents with the intention of booking this venue for children, don't do it. Don't misinform customers that the escape room would be kid friendly when it clearly was not. We spent well over $200 for a bad birthday. read more

This was my 8th escape room and it didn't disappoint! We had 8 in our group and another couple was added in. Not sure how that was going to go but it went very well and we all seemed to be able to work together to escape (which we did!). This room had a couple of twists that I hadn't seen before and we needed the clues that were given to us towards the end. Taylor was terrific as the one who welcomed us, explained everything to us and gave us clues. Will absolutely come back to play the other room. But I recommend the Pirate room...we loved it. As far as escape rooms go, I've been to a few and Brainy Actz is easily my favorite. The Temecula location has a Legacy room that actually integrates story elements from the rooms I've done in Irvine, which was super cool. It really made it seem like the other rooms I've run were still a part of the experience. I've gone through the jungle room here as well as a few in the Irvine location and I can say that Brainy Actz is the most innovative and constantly evolving escape room in the game. Hands down! We brought a group of teenage girls here for part of a birthday celebration. The Brainy Actz personnel was very friendly. Taylor was our host, and she went through the rules first before letting the girls in. When they got stuck, she helped them out with the walkie-talkie. It was the first time for almost all of the girls, so they needed some assistance. We could watch the action from the waiting area on a tablet. Almost more fun than being in the room! Room could've been fun and had potential, but the lady that helped us ruined it (we did the barber shop room). She wasn't into it at all and kept mentioning she had a vacation to go on the next day and wanted us to hurry along. Place was hard to find and we had to call in order to be let into the entire facility which was confusing. When we arrived, they had put us in a group with other people and we had asked to change the time to a later time because we wanted it to just be our group, but the lady insisted to reschedule to a different day even though we just asked for a later time the same day that was available. They also didn't reset the room completely. When we got to the end, we told her that we had a certain paper throughout the whole room and she was confused. She told us that we should've gotten that paper out of a box in the second room, but we had it in the beginning which was confusing. Overall, poor experience and waste of money. read more

This is our second escape room; our first was a different place. We had a party of 6 and they added a party of 4. The rooms are small and 10 people made it crowded. Also we would have preferred to be just our group and we were not given a choice. It was not as fun for us, as we were not comfortable with the others that were put with our group. This our 2nd time here, first time worked great staff was prompt, but this second time we had an 8 Pm reservation and even though the website clearly states to be there a certain amount of time before it. Mind you it's also my Birthday and I had plans after, we get there at 7:40 and don't tell us it might be a little later start time until we go up to ask then they tell us the group before us got there late so it's going past. YET it says if you are late it'll go into your room time. Then it's 8:20.... okay I have plans and they shouldn't have even gotten the extra time.... the employees tell us the same thing... 8:45 rolls around, okay I have to go. The employee get an attitude at us because they're going against the rules? Then we asked to speak to a manager who wasn't on site so it was all through the phone and ended up getting a free game, which was very nice of them to do to make up for it. Which is why I have a 2nd star, but for the employees giving people more time they shouldn't have gotten and messing up our plans (because we did have them HENCE the reservation time) and then giving us attitude because we got impatient was not okay. read more

This place is hard to find & the door is locked so you have to flag someone down on the chance someone is walking by. Now that we've been here 3 times & done 3 different rooms, we're more than disappointed. All 3 rooms have had something wrong happen. One room accidentally revealed the end when we were only halfway through solving the puzzles. (When asked, they said go ahead & put that back.) Another room required buttons to be pressed for a certain amount of time although there was no way of figuring that out. Another room's clock didn't work & the end failed to reveal itself & the employee had to physically open it. The rooms don't have cameras set up so they can watch & talk to you from the other room, so the employees have no idea where you are in solving, then waste time trying to explain what you need a clue for, using walkie talkies that are terrible. There are much better escape rooms out there. We won't be back. read more

We had a horrible experience from start to finish. The building is very dark, no sign, no visible address from street, so after we asked someone getting in their car they said it was inside... all doors locked. We called not once, not twice but several times... after finally getting through to a JOSH he said someone would come open door. We had to continually call because no one came to open door. Standing out front with my elderly mother in wheelchair, in cold, for over 45 minutes and repeatedly calling only to be lied to was inexcusable. I wish I could say things got better but no... the young lady who finally came to door was laughing and joking around. After getting into office, we soon found out why no one cared we were stuck out front... a group came out of room and one of the girls stayed her friend let them use room & apologized... are you kidding me!?! NO ONE cleaned & sanitized after they left room. Thank GOD we had masks & gloves on hands. The entire time they were having a party we couldn't even hear each other. The two way radio they gave was USELESS they never answered & the one time she did it took 15 minutes of our time to continue repeating because she wasn't listening... turns out they didn't put two pages of diary back in proper place, so they just gave answer instead of giving pages. We signed up to do it ourselves and to figure it out. Then we come out expecting to take a picture only to be told "we don't normally do that" that's funny because you came in to get money bags so your friends could have them in their picture!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, HORRIBLE PROPS, HORRIBLE ORGANIZATION, HORRIBLE GAME, OVERALL HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE... I asked for General Manager/owner to call me...Shocking no call. What an adventure for our party of 4 Senior ladies (celebrating my 73rd. birthday)!! Vince was the perfect host, and treated us like Queens !! The Pirate Escape room was quite a challenge for all of us, but we had so much fun just "trying" to locate clues..........and we soon discovered that even if we had 4 hours, it probably wouldn't be enough !!! Our team successfully escaped the Pirate room, last weekend. It was a blast. The staff is friendly and attentive. I believe they have multiple themed rooms and are planning a new one for groups of up yo twenty. We had six in our group and were paired up with four others. They must try to get groups of ten through the Pirate escape. We got a great deal on groupon and reservations were easy. A must do activity with family and friends. It only takes up to an hour. This was definitely a fun time for four senior citizens celebrating a friends birthday. What a delightful surprise at sign in to be greeted with birthday posters our host Vince had made.. It was our first escape room and we had no idea what we were doing. Vince was polite and great at explaining the different types of locks and what to expect. I doubt if we would have ever escaped it it wasn't for the helpful clues Vince gave these four silly laughing old ladies. We had a fantastic time! We participated in two different rooms, both with a distinct theme, and they both provided great challenge. We were only able to beat one of the rooms.
