I took my car here to get the front calipers replaced a few weeks ago. At first, everything seemed good--they called to give me an update on the order status the following Monday, and they were nice every time I called to check in. When the parts finally came in, they agreed to keep the car for a few days while I was out of town and let me pick it up when I got back. So far, so good. When I got back, however, I came straight from the airport only to find that my brake pedal now had an incredibly long travel (I had to push it clear to the floor to engage the brakes, which is kind of scary, especially in an older car). So I told them, and they agreed to take another look at it before I left. They hoisted the car up, seemed to be working on it for another 30 minutes, and then said it was "better" and asked me to try it. It felt exactly the same, but the guy told me "sometimes it takes some time for the car to adjust to new calipers." I knew that was BS, but I wanted to get home after traveling all day and figured I'd take it for my regular guy (Troll at Redline Automotive) to look at it. Well, when I did take it to Troll, he went to begin bleeding out the brake system to address the long travel on the pedal, but found that there was a broken screw in one of the new calipers. Not only that, but there was also the tip of an easy-out tool broken off in the screw hole--so Brake Check clearly knew it was broken (or they broke it themselves), then made matters worse by trying to pry the broken screw out with a tool, making it impossible to bleed out the brake system, and just didn't tell me they were giving me faulty parts and substandard work. Now, I'm a girl, I'm pretty nice, and I look very young, which is the only reason I can fathom that they thought they could pass off this poor work as satisfactory. I took the car back to Brake Check, and to their credit, they did put the old caliper back on and then ordered me a new one at no charge. What really bothered me, though, was that when I arrived, the guy asked me "Oh, is that brake pedal really bothering you?" Once I explained the whole situation in terms that made it clear I knew what they had done and knew how a caliper works, the manager I was speaking with got really flushed and quiet and just said they'd put the old caliper back on and order a new one. He never denied anything--but he also never apologized or admitted to substandard work. When I picked up the new caliper a few days later, the guy who was working when I originally picked the car up (who told me it was "better" and that the new calipers just needed to adjust) was there. He didn't apologize either--he just handed me the box and said, "I was told to give this to you. I don't know WHAT'S going on." I just took it from him and left without saying anything. It's just incredibly depressing and infuriating that there are businesses out there who will do crap work and try to pass it off as good work, assuming you don't know the difference. I have had good experiences with other Brake Check branches in the past, but I will never in a million years return to this one. read more

I was sent a letter from Phillip a few weeks ago the "Corporate Director" saying he has been attempting to contact me at my number, without success. I don't have a single missed call from his number nor a voicemail... Seems like this company is full of jokers who just make stuff up. There is ZERO follow up here and ZERO accountability. I will let every single person I know of this place and company and what they have done to me. Judging by their reviews I am not the only one. I will file all my paperwork away and keep it if I ever need it. I'll obviously never be back and hope others ready this review and others and stay far far away. I'm sitting here in this waiting room for the fourth time in 2 months wondering why I ever decided to bring my car here for a simple brake repair. It's been one thing after another after the first time. I guess this is what happens when mechanics just don't care about the quality of their work and the importance of my time. The latter of which represents dollars in my account which are sadly sacrificed waiting for hours on end for these guys to get it right. I suspect it's this location and not a problem at all of then as I've had good experiences at others. I've been coming here for 3 years now and I generally always get good service. The only drawback is that it seems they change managers very often, so I'm not sure what is behind that. This means that I may not get the same answer to the same issue that I did on a previous visit, which could be good or bad depending on the maintenance needed. Russel helped me out when I brought in a set of rear vw van drums with the hubs rusted to them. I asked his advice if I should just buy new drums and have them push the hubs out or have them turn the 32 year old drums. He said if you can get the drums cheap enough, go that route and he could push the good hubs right out and save me hours of hammering the hubs out. He did it right then and there for free. Needed new brake pads and rotors. Got a price quote from Brake check that was half the price the dealership wanted to charge me. Dropped my car off at the Ben White Brake check next day. Two hours later, my car was good to go. Total cost was slightly less than what they quoted me. In and out , no hassle. They also told me I still had good rotors on front even though I was ready to happily pay for new everything. That something that rarely happens in other auto repair shops. read more

I have a crazy hectic schedule. I commute a LOT, and it isn't easy to make time for car maintenance, but it is critical that I take care of my car. It REALLY isn't always easy to take it to the same place every time, but I will always take it to Brake Check. They are friendly and knowledgeable and every time I come in, I am even more impressed. With their free oil changes after you've had so many, and the times they have told me that I don't need repairs, or advised me on the best place to get repairs, they have convinced me that they want a lasting customer relationship instead of just a single profitable transaction. Just went back for an alignment, making good on my "lifetime alignment: I got last time. It was indeed free, but the car left the shop just as out-of-alignment as before. The manager, Brian, was very nice about having me come back in to make it right, but it was still inconvenient to find another two hours to correct the exact same problem. Now that I've finished my second visit, the problem is about 95 percent fixed. Not sure why it can't be 100 percent, but since I didn't pay for it, I can't complain too much. And as I said, they were very friendly about it when I've known shops to tell me it was my problem, etc. They also did a free brake inspection while they had the car in and *showed* me where I needed some rotor work on the rear brakes. Got that taken care of at the same appointment. Good communication throughout the process and a reasonable price. On the road test after the brake repair, the tech sound that the front brakes were causing the steering wheel to vibrate, so it is recommended that I come back *again* to get that done. Still really good people running a good shop (in my experience). A tiny bit irritated at the repeat visits, but it beats paying for something and not getting it fixed at all. read more

I don't care that my car got fixed. I wish I could sue this place for how inappropriately this place treated me. All the employees were just sitting in the main room anyway not even doing their job when I came to drop off my car. The encounter began with the group mocking me about the reservation name and laughing at me after I said I need all my brakes fixed. They continue to laugh at me again after I said I needed all of them fixed and said, "no we said why" and I replied, "because when I was getting my car fixed" they filled in the gap's of what I was going to say "when you got your oil changed" and I said "yes, they said they were not in good condition." I thought in my head, Did I ask for you to ask me why? I SAID THEY NEED TO BE FIXED ASSHOLES. I was treated with zero respect, my family name was mocked and my intelligence was mocked. I think I know a few things, I just graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelors in nursing. The encounter finished with them pervertedly looking at my body in inappropriate areas. Will be sure to never go here again, disgusted by the staff and the treatment I received. I had to have my dad come with me to pick up the car and they proceeded to call me ma'am at that moment as if they respected me in the first place but they had to do it when my father was there. Couldn't even stand up for myself because they were fixing my car and probably would break something after. Absolutely fucking disgusting. read more

I decided to give Break Check a try because Jiffy was getting way pricey. Juan provided exceptional customer service and took the time to explain the various services they provide. The large window in the waiting room allows you to check out the work being done on your car while you wait. As a woman I'm always concerned that I may be getting swindled, but I felt comfortable and in good hands at Break Check. Juan provided me with a run down of every charge and didn't do anything to my car without prior approval from me. The rewards program is great and not offered at many other oil change places so it's definitely a bonus. This is now my preferred spot for all my car maintenance needs. read more

Nightmare started in June I went to Brake Check on 1802 Kenny Fort Trail, Round Rock TX told Them to check my brakes, that I was going on a family vacation to Florida. They came and recommended Rear Brakes since they are specialized in Brakes I gave the go ahead. My Rear Brakes have not been the same ever since. I took it to 205 E. Ben White in Austin. I lost count of the times I took it in for the rear brakes issue. Took my Durango to get my State Inspection when they told me that the employee almost flipped over that both my Front and Rear were bad, that I needed New Drums. Took it back to Brake Check on Ben White, called Corporate Juan said it's going to cost me close to 800 to have my Rear and Front brakes done. A few minutes after I left he called me telling me that the Pistons inside the Caliper are bad and I Need New one's. I lost it. #! $$$$ STOP everything I want an investigation done by corporate on this issue. I dropped the Durango off on Sunday 2/21/16 21 around 11:20. It's still there. I don't want to select a star but in order to post I must do it. No customers Satisfaction. My family's and my live was at danger driving around with the brake job that was done there it put us at risk. Un safe. Armando called around 2:40, 2/23/16 like Juan know Armando recommend all that needs to be done to the Durango Front and Rear brakes. I said I'm not paying I just want my money back. Armando said No I'm not giving you the money back. I picked up my Durango. NO Customer Satisfaction. Warning!!! Stay Away!!! I brought my truck in today 12/8/13 because my Truck squeaked every time I moved the steering wheel.After a one hour inspection they advised me I needed a Power Steering pump. They wanted $168 for the part. I knew it cost about $60 at an auto parts store. Brake Check stated they would install the part for $97.50 So I went and bought the part for $69.00. When I went back to Brake Check they were too busy to install it. So I went home and called my mobile mechanic who stated he will install it for $80. He arrived and installed it. Low and behold the problem with my truck was not a power steering pump but in fact the Rack N Pinion was out. So I bought the power steering pump for nothing and had it installed for nothing. I don't know what idiots are working at Brake Check and conducting inspections. It's obvious that their so called mechanic don't know what the they are doing. Now I have to call corporate and see if they will lift a finger to reimburse me the $149 they caused me to spend needlessly. I don't think I will get very far with them. I may even take them to small claims court just for the prinicipal. So they wanted $168 for a $69 part. (Greedy pigs.) Then they couldnt even tell me what was wrong. I imagine if I had them install the power steering pump, what would they say when it didnt fix the squeak. I'm sure it would have went something like this: "Excuse me sir but you also have a bad Rack N Pinion" They would not have said we made a mistake it was not the power steering pump... So steer clear of Brake Checks. Your better off getting your on parts online or at auto parts stores and using a mobile mechanic. read more

I'm not sure what happened with the previous reviews, may Cris is a new addition to this location and saving grace because my experience with him was AWESOME! I was in the shopping strip just East of Brake Check when my Mitsubishi Endeavor would not start. I assumed battery right away. I found someone with cables and a new battery and still nothing, so I called Brake Check since I was close enough to throw a rock and hit the side of their bldg. Chris answered and walked right over to check it out. He crawled under my car, had me attempt to start it several times and declared that it was the starter which had gone bad due to a very bad oil leak. Cris quoted me a price for the part (I will admit that a friend called around and found the part quite a bit cheaper and Cris was able to get the part at that price), and labor plus towing to the shop which again, was a stone's throw away. The towing fee had nothing to do with Brake Check, totally different company. As I was agonizing over paying $70 to have my car towed half a block, Cris gave me two other options. First, he offered to tow the car himself using his truck and towing chains, at no cost, first thing the next morning. He also had a tech who could fix my car on the spot. I chose the latter of course. I picked my car up this afternoon, about 24 hours later and paid $214 for replacing the starter with parts and labor. Another $127 to replace part that was damaged causing the oil leak and oil change for which he gave me $10 off. I also have a short in the wiring that controls my A/C fan, he removed tape that was holding it in place to find the issue and then put it back in place with liquid tape which would provide a much better hold. Cris showed me the starter that he had removed and it was caked with oil. Cris went above and beyond to help me out, walking over to me, having a tech fix my car on location to avoid towing expenses, checking the short in my wiring and making a quick fix for no charge. Everyone at this location was friendly and the work was fast and seems to have been done well. I don't know what to say about the low rating and the other reviews, I am more than satisfied and I will return to this location when I need an oil change, or anything else. read more

After a couple weeks I had to return to Brake Check after finding I had a flat and their technician had failed to put my wheel lock back in the glove box. When I returned to retrieve it, the man working at the counter told me he was "waiting for me to call back" After checking it on my tire, he simply returned to one of the bays. Not a sorry about that or anything. On top, the problem with my brakes still persists (noise more apparent, pedal is far less responsive than before my visit to this shop) I spent nearly $700 and 6 1/2 hours of my day with my son at this shop and I find this absence of customer service dissatisfactory. Due to the lack of service and quite possibly future safety issues, I will never again trust this company with the safety of my family. read more

I've not got around to writing a review for these people yet...so here goes. I took my car in about a couple weeks ago, i needed the brakes done, as well as my struts replaced. They did the inspection fairly fast and i liked how they take customers back there and show them what's worn, and what needs replaced...i liked seeing that for myself! Awesome. The guys there were all friendly and had great customer service. Anyway after paying $900 bucks for my brake job and struts, i left with the feeling i like this place and will bring my car here from now on...especially seeing how they pointed out my cv joint on one side needs replaced on one side, (if they had of told me sooner i would have asked them to fix it that day) however i needed my car that day so i figured id just bring it back to them in a few days. One thing that kinda got to me was the fact that their was like car grease or whatever on my passengers seat? I didnt bother complaining because i figured what the heck i'm going to go have my seats and carpet steamed cleaned anyway no biggie at this point. So anyway so far sounds good...right? NOT A few days after i picked my car up from brake check i was driving home and noticed a strange dragging sound whenever i would brake! I was like WTF! It also sounded like something was loose and clanging around from my drivers side tire. Needless to say it didnt sound good and i felt unsafe right away. I got home and refused to even go get my husband from work! I drove it straight to brake check the next morning as soon as they opened. I explained what was going on the guy (whoever works the front, or at least he did the times i brought my car..whatever his name is) he said he'd have one of the guys road test it and figure out what's going on. I told him thanks and got in my dads truck and we headed to walmart. We were gone a little while, when i drove by brake check i noticed my car was just still sitting there, not even in a bay...i was like wtf? 3 hours later i called them and asked what's wrong with my car??????? He said it was not road tested or lookd at yet but that he is on it as soon as he gets off the phone. I didnt understand for the life of me why my car was not looked at SOONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He called me 20 mintues later and told me a caliper bolt had come off and that he was on his way to get a new one and this was all at no cost for me. I understand people make mistakes, but screwing up my brakes is screwing with my life if they were to fail on me. I did not get so much as a sorry! I actually felt like i was treated as some sort of burdon. So that being said i dropped my car off at 7:30 am and didnt get it back until like around 1:30. An my husband had called to see if it was done yet an they told him yeah it is we thought we called your wife to let her know. uhhhhhh no you idiots you didnt. they took longer to put a fkn bolt back on then they had took to do a complete brake job and struts. Wtf? I felt i was put on the back burner and not treated as a priority for their fk up! I did not get a sorry, i did not get the same friendly customer service from the service advisor as i had previously. Sorry guys you fkd up and sorry yall had to pay for it..it's all my fault huh?? Get a second opinion before you agree to any repairs by this place. They will scare you into thinking your car is too dangerous to drive to get you to agree to repairs - I took my car in to Brake Check in June 2020 due to squeaky breaks and shaking steering wheel. After the inspection, the mechanics urged me to replace all 4 rotors & brake pads, as well as get the alignment fixed, saying it was too dangerous to even drive out of the parking lot without getting these things done. So, I got all new rotors & break pads, brake hardware & alignment work (over $1k). A few months ago (summer 2021) my brakes started to squeak again and my steering wheel started to shake again. I took my car back into Brake Check to get the brakes inspected, thinking surely this could not be the same issues as 12 months ago when I got all new rotors and pads. I was told the front rotors were warped again and would need to be fully replaced, the front calipers were causing the rotors to warp and needed to be replaced along with the hardware and I'd need all new brake pads because they had been worn down so much (over $1.5k). They once again told me it was too dangerous to even drive my car home without having this work completed. I asked how this could have happened when I had just gotten new rotors and pads and why the caliper issue wasn't identified last summer, but was met with aggression and excuses and it was again insisted that the state my car was in was too dangerous to drive. I was frustrated this happened within a year of getting all new rotors/pads, so I left to get a second opinion. The place I ended up taking the car told me the rotors were warped, but the brake pads were fine and were wearing down evenly, so that didn't indicate any issues with the calipers, and there were no issues with the hardware. They machined the rotors to fix the issue. Brake Check definitely uses fear as a sale tactic and takes advantage of young, single females. Beware of this place. read more

Ok so I've never done a review but I thought this deserved one... My best advice is to steer very clear of this location!!! So I was just about to leave to my hometown which is about 5 hours away from Austin and I really wanted to get an alignment and an oil change. It was Sunday so I didn't know what would be open but I work at the mall and coming back on 71 I saw Brake Check was open! Yes! My prayers were answered... Or so I thought. So the guy in the front greeted me and was very nice, like most are. I waited for about 2 hours or so, I'm not exactly sure. Eventually I get my car back and I'm excited to get on the road. But as soon as I began to drive there was a light that came on and it said "STOP NOW CHECK COOLANT". I'm not a technician so I don't exactly know what all that means but I do know it wasn't doing that before I brought my car to this shop. So I turned around and had them check it out. Apparently the guy "accidentally knocked off the sensor" so they fixed it and I was on my way. In the middle of my trip I started noticing my car was acting really weird. It was making a weird noise every time I would press the gas and it seemed like it was having a hard time driving. Well, again, nothing like this was happening before I had taken my car to Brake Check. Well thank goodness I just had a few miles left and even though it was night time I took it straight to my home car guy who I have taken my car to for Years and years. In the early morning I went back, told him what was wrong with it and what I had just gotten done at Brake check. He said he would look at it and let me know. A few minutes later he came back with a Very disturbing look on his face. Like he was shocked and worried and appalled, basically. He informed me that I had just driven 250+ miles with 2 quartz extra oil AND no transmission fluid!! Apparently the mechanic who did my oil change did not know at all what he was doing and overfilled it and while he was doing that he also accidentally leaked my transmission fluid and instead of fixing his mistake, he just wiped it clean and made it seem like nothing happened...... So basically I ended up paying $200 to my car guy to fix the problems. And not only that but I drove a very long distance with those problems! My car has been driving differently and I'm sure it caused permanent damage. Especially from having NO transmission fluid. How ridiculous!!! Well of course I was upset and called the shop and finally got on the phone with the district manager. He said that he was sorry, blah blah and wanted me to send the report from my car shop. Whenever I got back into Austin I took it straight there and was informed that the district manager was not in but would get that report. Oh and that the mechanic that worked on my car had been let go because they take things like that very seriously... Which they should!!! Those little mistakes can cause irreparable damage. Now I am just waiting to take my car in to run a full diagnostic scan because the manager told me if there is a problem, they would like to find it and hopefully fix it. I really hope I also get reimburse the $200 I spent fixing Their mistake! We will see. I will come back and revise this review with what happens at the end of my experience. And while the people have been nice, it doesn't change the fact that I had very poor work done on my car. That's why it's important to have people who actually know what they're doing and not kids who look like they've been plucked out of jr high school. read more

I took my girlfriend's car there yesterday. It needed just an oil change. The crew and the manager there was very knowledgeable on cars. They did not try to push unnecessary repairs on to me. I understand that they have bad reviews in the past but they are under new management and I believe in my heart that the new management now is trying to change the bad reputation they have they are fast they are friendly and they have a lot of expertise. BE WARNED !!! Brake Check, On 11/6/2014 at about 1:30 pm, I arrived at the Brake Check located at 205 E. Ben White, Austin TX, 78704 (store #417) phone # (512) 448-1221, and had such a bad experience I need to let everyone know. I came in to have my diesel 4x4 Ford truck aligned, and met with far worse problems than anticipated. I myself am a mechanic; I have many years' experience building cars and trucks, and maintaining many vehicles. I know how the mechanics of taking apart and rebuilding motors, suspensions, and body parts of cars. I would have done the alignment myself, but I needed the alignment machine that professional garages have. The employees at said store informed me that they could not move the camber adjusting eccentric due to rust damage, and that I would need new parts before they could attempt a repair. Since this piece is made of aluminum, I found this ridiculous, since aluminum does not rust. They told me that they tried to move it with a pipe wrench, and said they might need to heat up the metal to move it. At a charge of four hours labor at eighty dollars per hour, when I know it only takes about an hour to do; but in reality it doesn't need to be removed at all. The part in question needs to be lifted up, and then turns very easily, and they were not aware of the simple mechanics of this device. Upon inspection after leaving, I found they had slightly damaged the pieces, and I had to replace them before attempting to get alignment done the second time, at another garage. When explaining my concerns about their knowledge and service, the manager was very rude, arrogant and would not listen to me, since I do have a background in auto mechanic, I found this rude,, I just wanted to see if we could find a solution, but he was unwilling to cooperate. The example of this is his insisting that "all metal rusts, and your parts are rusted". I was charger sixty eight dollars for this encounter, even though no repairs were made, and damage was actually done; basically I Was charged for nothing. The receipt even shows nothing was done, and notes that my parts are rusted, when they are not. This whole encounter took four hours out of my day, which happened to be my birthday, and I was trying to get home to my family; this made the experience that much more irritating. The next day when I tried to call and inform corporate about this experience, I was told I would receive a call back. I never received a call back, and this leads me to believe that Brake Check's customer service policy is to not really care, and brush off complaints. This is very concerning to me, I don't like dishonest people, and this dishonesty was consistent with my whole experience at this particular store. During my four hour stay there, many other customers came it for service and I noticed a pattern. Each person happened to have many extra things wrong with their vehicles, and was over charged for services. It seems as if the employees are trained to rip off customers by charging extra, and making up stories about what is wrong, or over exaggerating the issues. I can't say whether this is a nationwide issue with all of your stores, but this location in particular has the worst reviews in Austin, and I can definitely see why. When I dropped the car off, they were very friendly and I was out in no time. I appreciated that they diagnosed my car for free and then called to verify before completing any service. The man I spoke to tried to up sell me a bunch of service I did not immediately need, but when I explained that I was only looking to have done what was really necessary, he didn't try to push too hard. DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE FOR ANY REASON. They claim to do "work" on your car and charge you for services never rendered. Initially the mechanics are friendly but if you choose to question their services and what work was performed they will never give you a direct answer. They choose their wording very carefully in order to avoid fault. To reiterate, do not come here for any car service. Safety should be the main factor when driving any vehicle, and they choose to make the roads more dangerous by not performing basic car services correctly. read more

Made an appointment for 2pm for a "brake check".(02/08/2014) It wasn't done until 5:30pm. I had to ask them to hurry up because I notice the car was just sitting there. So the manager on staff politely said that he would put to guys on it to hurry it along. I had a work meeting at 6pm. What was the point of making an appointment if they didn't even work on the car for hour? The new brakes sound like they are girding a little. So I called them and they said it was normal for the pads to wear in for 300 miles. Also that the calipers are dirty so it doesn't retract as well and that can lead to premature wear. Makes sense. He said if there is a problem to just take it back. Hope its just wearing in and not something else. Unfortunately the manager on staff also wrote down our phone number and name wrong. That made it real fun to try and contact the customer service rep. Seeing as they couldn't call us. Then canceled our complaint. They did how ever send us two letters, But at this point we didn't know if any thing was really wrong any way. So I discarded them, I just wanted to be done with it. Really I didn't even want to complain. I just wanted to talk to them about it, and if any thing went wrong make sure they would cover it. UPDATE: 06/09/2014 Had to take my car in again, because the back left brake had a loose bolt that fell out. Thanks a lot guys. Also, the right has some hardware missing. Cool. HEROS! Driving from Houston to Austin, red warning lights and alarms began sounding in Bastrop. I called Curtis at the nearest Brake Check (Ben White). He stayed on the phone with me, while he checked records from my Houston Brake Check. He already knew a lot about Mercedes. Even though it was 4pm Saturday when I drove in (ie., they were swamped), they immediately diagnosed my car and fixed the problem, though it took after hours. They handled my danger (wheel bearings), told me what to look for, and were CLEAR-TALKING, KNOWLEDGABLE, PROFESSIONAL and FRIENDLY. I hate getting my car serviced, but this was the BEST experience I've ever had. Juan and his team walked me through and explained everything that needed to be replaced. They would not let me leave with only minor repairs... They insisted and GREATLY discounted other services to make sure I was safe driving off the lot. I came in with my spark plug stuck in and they found a way to replace it even though it was 13 years old and in bad shape! They are friendly guys! Gerald helped me today fix my car and Brian helped me the other day with my brakes and a check up! They are friendly and they show you what's wrong before they do anything. They put oil in the wrong part of my motor. Pried off a cap that wasn't supposed to be taken off, and broke part of that cap into my motor. Gave me the run around and tried finding ways to get out of doing the right thing. I spent my day opening up the valve covers to find the piece they broke off sitting in my engine. I went in for my free lifetime alignment and they did a good job of that. Also got my belts replaced and they look like they did a good install and everything seems to be working well. It did take a little while to get the estimate for the belts. I couldn't tell if he was working on it or putting it on the backburner because of the joking around that was going on in the back. Nevertheless, he did get the estimate taken care of before my alignment was finished and got my belts taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. Good work. read more

My brakes had been squeaking for a couple of days so I took them to brake check to get looked at. I had an appointment at 11:00 am and arrived on time for this appointment. I scheduled the appointment because I was under the impression that they would get the work done in a couple of hurs. My wife was home with our brand new baby and cannot drive due to having a c-section. The people their were friendly and courteous but there were only 3 people working at the time of my appointment. To the managers credit he did tell me they were two staff short. The manager himself was one of the people working and they were working as hard as they could to keep up with the car demand. They could not do it of course. At noon they had finally looked at my car and told me what work needed to be done. I agreed and was told it should be about 2 hours worth of work. 4 hours later the manager called me back into the mechanic area and informed me that he was unable to get the drum off of my front two brakes because the machine for doing this was broken. I told him to do what ever he could to get my car completed because I had been there since 11 and it was now 4. I sat there and waited until 530 for my car to be fixed. 6.5 hours of my life wasted at brake check. My poor wife was alone at the house and had no way of leaving if she needed to and I was about 1.5 hours late to pick up my other son at day care. I want to make it clear that I did not have a problem with the workers at the brake check. They were professional and courteous to me the entire time. My problem is with the management. I did talk to the district manager and my wife spoke to the corporate office. They said they told us they would work to fix this problem. Unless your have 6 hours of your life to kill waiting for your car I would not go to brake check to get work done on your vehicle. They told me that I would have to come back in to get my front brake drums done at a later time. I don't think they will get a second chance from me. read more
