The staff is very friendly here and they gave me a much lower price for my brakes than other places I went to. Although I noticed there was an issue with one of my brake pads after the job was done, it was making a loud rattling noise. It turned out that it was put on wrong and was rubbing against the metal when I drove. I took it back to them and they fixed it right up and apologized. My second time there today and happy with the service once again. Both times I've been able to go on my lunch break to get a wheel alignment and they were under an hour. My Fiat tends to get out of alignment easily with the low profile tires and hitting potholes commuting from Taft to Bako daily. The either Manager or Owner working the front desk told me since that happens to me so often to bring in my car back within the 90 next days after my alignment today while it's still under warranty and they will check it out for me and realign it again if needed. I just had my rear struts replaced and an aliment with Brake Masters (they did my front struts last year.) I went to Big Brand Tire when I thought I was just in need of new tires, and was told my rear struts were shot. The "best" they could do was quote me $619 for the strut replacement and alignment (not including the 2 rear tires that needed to be replaced $270!!!) and they charged me $55 just to drive it around the block n take a look underneath and give me the estimate!!! Rip off!!! Brake Masters, quoted me over the phone $375... New rear struts with lifetime warranty and alignment AND told me to drop his name at a reputable tire shop for a great deal on the tires I have to replace... They also expressed disgust at the fact I was charged $55 just to have someone put it on a rack for assessment, a service that they offer for FREE!!! They are friendly and honest... I'll keep going back, and I'll keep referring people to them :) read more

This place was referred to me by the guys who replaced my tires a year ago. I went to brake masters for a wheel alignment. I was pleased with their prices and service so I returned to replace the brakes on my car and now to get a wheel barring replaced on my car. They always check to make sure you need the service. They do this at no cost. If your car needs to be serviced, they will give you a quote on parts and labor costs. I have been very pleased with all the work they have done on my car, they are honest affordable and friendly. This places gets super busy, making an appointment is the best way to go. read more

I question their honesty. I went there for a alignment. They asked me if I wanted my brakes checked, I was told I needed new brakes & rotors. I told them my son would take care of it. They stated it would be cheaper if I did it now(they already had the tires off). I said no. My son would do it. Well long story short my car did not need brakes yet( My son changed them anyway) and definitely did not need rotors!! I would get a second opinion at the very least. I am also now questioning my tire shop (though I have always loved them) whom sent me there and previously to an a/c mechanic who seemed to have the same integrity. PS: My son did it for free!! I got my breaks down a week ago and brought my car in because my breaks are still squeaking. The older gentleman told me while you've only had the breaks for a week and you have to drive 200 mile in order for them to not squeak I then told him that my brother who is a mechanic said there is no such things the guy gets pissed and as I was still taking he turned always and shut the door in my face. I called on a Saturday afternoon about 90 minutes before closing...the man told me to come by. I had to buy new tires and the place I went didn't do alignments. I needed to get this done ASAP. BRAKE MASTERS Was great. I will be back. The place was clean and the man behind the counter was business but friendly. I had a full alignment done in about 40 minutes. I was impressed. They broke my hubcap. It was brand new. I didn't say anything at first. And then they verbally told me to come back in a month for a brake adjustment and for new hubcaps. I went back for the break adjustment and they claim they did the break adjustment in 5 minutes. And they refuse to fix the hubcap and told me they never said that. Brake Masters has always treated me well. They've replaced 3 water pumps on 3 cars of mine in a timely manner even when they were pretty busy and had to order parts. I was even able to provide hoses I'd bought off of amazon as the ones they would have to order were out of this world expensive. (Found mine for $14 compared to the $245 ones they found...). Am getting brakes and an alignment now. Management has changed over the years. The previous guy was affable and friendly. The new guy has a dry humor that some people don't get but, once you crack thru the surface, he's a pretty good guy. I would recommend this shop. read more

I once went there and was treated kindly. However after the last couple experiences I feel forced to update my review. They may offer competitive prices, but their customer service skills seem to lack tremendously. I called to "schedule" an appointment and the employee suggested I go at that moment and that it be better if I simply came in and they'll be free. Come said time, I walked in and greeted the unhappy employee. He stared at me, tilted his head and said "hi." I kindly asked if there was a wait and he said there was a two hour wait for any kind of service. His tone was lacked any empathy and with his dry demeanor he did not even offer a suggestion for any local spots. It's really unfortunate that these things happen. I can understand how everyone can have a bad day, but it doesn't mean you should take it out on customers. When people work in customer service, you have to deal with people....that's part of the job. Anyway I'm beating around the bush, they do not have pleasant people skills try Valvoline Instant oil change they are completely worth the money and they actually treat you with respect. read more

DONT GO THERE. I made an effort and bought Evolution Power Stop CRK2450 Coated Brake Disc and Ceramic Brake Pads, Rear for my car for $ 121.18. Due to health concerns, I could not replace them by myself this time, so I went to Break Maters and paid $168 for the installation. When I got home the left rotor was overheated. I removed the tire to realize that the installed brake pad was not the one I provided and instead was a used one that was cleaned to look like new. I went back there to make a claim with a grumpy man in charge and he and all the employees immediately denied my claim. I made them remove the tire and look at the damaged pad. When they saw the damage, they told me I drove with the parking brake applied, so I was responsible. My home is just 10 miles away and I did not used the parking brake. I returned home and removed the tire and brake pads to confirm that they installed used ones that damaged and overheated my new Evolution rotor. Not only did I lose the money that I paid them, I lost a rotor and the brake pads that I was able to buy (with a lot of sacrifice) and my health because I had to disassemble the wheel to have the photos proving what I am saying. There is nothing we can do because a lawyer will cost more than the $300 I lost. Nobody should go to a place where they install old parts instead the high-quality costly parts you hand over to them. read more

First of let me say, my dad's been my mechanic for a great majority of my adult life. Change oil, tires, fix brakes, pull out dents, ... pretty much anything that would go wrong with my cars, he'd fix it. Now that my wife and I are 2,500 miles away that changes that. In May 2010, the brakes on my wife's Trailblazer were starting to squeak. It had 52,000 miles on it so we figured it was time. I asked a few guys at work and they recommended a local garage off Rosedale Hwy. So I took the vehicle over there and guy says I need new pads and rotors. And because I have the towing package, they suggested I spend extra money to maintain same high-end parts that currently on vehicle. Here's the problem, we've pulled one trailer in the 52,000 miles. So I went for a second opinion and took it to Brake Masters. I brought it in around 10 am and by 11 am, I had their manager call me and say, there was just a lot of brake dust on my pads and rotors looked great. So they cleaned the pads for FREE. I called my dad and asked if he'd ever heard of such a practice. He was just as shocked as I was. In April 2011, I could feel a vibration when I braked and knew where I was taking it. I found a coupon in The Bakersfield Californian and took it back to Brake Masters. It was done in less than 2 hours. Great work and at a great price. He drove 3 hours out to Bakersfield to fill in for the day. So my girlfriend and I were lucky to need brake services done today and meet him. We brought both our cars in and got our brakes and rotors replaced. The pricing altogether hurt my wallet but was very reasonable. Thumbs up all the way!!! Will be going there again in the future. We were referred to Brake Masters by a co-worker who highly recommended them. My husband and I took our vehicle in first thing Saturday morning thinking something was wrong with our brakes/rotors. After it was inspected, it was determined the brakes and rotors were completely fine. The issue was something to do with our 4 wheel drive. I have been going to Brake Masters for 5 years, 4 different cars, and seen them through their changes in staff through 3 men who deal with customer service. There was a very nice gentlemen for the first couple years who I gladly brought businesses to, as well as the young gentleman after him. But when the old, balding, white guy took over my opinion on this location started to shift. He is rude and condescending. The real mechanics that actually work on your car are great(2 stars), but customer service is the face of your business and for that they only deserve 1 star. They also wont do certain jobs on your car(like clean my reusable air filter, or a transmission flush). BEFORE that guy took over the mechanics were willing to help any way they could. I will say that the work is always done quickly and efficiently, but they always wanna quote me on stuff I did not ask them to do (mostly brake related) -haha it IS a brake place tho. read more

I went over on my lunch hour, after talking to Antonio on phone. My back right brake was making a major scraping noise upon braking. They brought my car up on the rack checked under the hood and along the brake line under car then pulled both rear tires he showed me the discs that were warn down to the metal both sides. Gave me an estimate which was very reasonable. (all done on my lunch hour, no charge) I will be bringing back to them to do the work. Brought my car back to them on Sat.
