Finally spoke with someone, the interaction was minimal, that being said we decided not to move forward with getting any work done. I recently took my vehicle to Circle M for the first time. I had just replaced a battery, battery terminal, and fuse for it but then a week or two later it stopped starting again. I had it towed in by AAA which was super simple because this is an AAA certified shop. Everyone I interacted with was super friendly whether it over the phone or by text, so that was nice. Ultimately, my vehicle did get fixed in about a day, which was also positive. Here's where my negatives are. I had called in advance about towing my car there and if it was alright, but there is zero mention they use a diagnostic fee. I had booked my appointment online where again, I saw no mention of that. After they reviewed my paperwork and did intake in the morning (I had it towed in the day prior in the afternoon), I got a text saying they had updated info about my vehicle. The diagnostic bit was bypassed by whoever I was interacting with and they had already taken a look at it, so therefore I was being charged for it. I assumed that like other shops I had been to my whole life, this fee was what they would charge me if I choose not to allow them to fix the car to help them not get ripped off by people who just take it in and want the diagnosis but refuse to let them fix it (aka where the money is at). I knew that with the battery replaced recently this was likely gonna be an alternator or a starter issue, so it bugged me they did a full car diagnostic when I did not ask for that or approve it and then they charge me for it. Of course, they diagnosed several "problems" ....they pointed out a grease leak from the axle that I already knew about and did not need diagnosed plus recommended me 2 new tires even though the tires have less than 2,500 miles on them (replaced all 4 recently with alignment done) and I am fully aware of how to check tire tread. These were not needing to be replaced. Funny enough, the thing I asked for them to check was to scrape the plug for my front driver side turn signal so my new bulb would plug in and they didnt do that (but also didnt charge me either so I just let it go and didnt push about it) Back to the diagnostic fee. If you get the service, the diagnostic doesnt apply towards your fix at all. Not even a partial. In my 16 years of car ownership and living in 3 different cities and 2 different states, I can confirm i have never been charged a diagnostic unless i chose to refuse service and take it somewhere else for the fix. With this diagnostic being charged, I assumed surely the starter i needed wouldn't be top dollar pricing on top of a diagnostic fee, but it actually was the most expensive starter ive ever paid for on a car. This is an older model toyota sedan for context. It was going to be about $900 but they had a discount running for AAA members so it cost me around $800ish. The part averages around $250 and they take 1-2 hours to replace on average. So let's say it took 2 hours to replace, plus 30 mins quick diagnostics. That is $220 an hour in labor. Not sure i would equate paying my mechanic the same hourly rate as a lawyer. Had i not gotten that discount, it would have been even more! On the positive, I will say the service was fairly quick. The communication through the text and links to pictures was unique and streamlined, so i can see that being a benefit to paying more for some people. For me, this place ultimately costs too much and attempted to upsell (charging me for that upsell opportunity too with the diagnostics I didnt ask for) too much for me to consider using them again. However, I could see why it would be appealing to some. Just not for me or my budget. read more

I recently had problems with my vehicle's air conditioning when it sometimes would start blowing warm air but would be working when I started it up the next morning and continue to run well for many days at a time. This went on for weeks. Ultimately Circle M staff correctly diagnosed the problem as a compressor that was on its way out. They replaced the compressor and I've had no problems with the ac since they worked on it. This is a review based on all the work I had to redo from their work. Previous owner of the car (Mustang) took it to them for a rear diff leak, transmission leak, and oil pan gasket leak. They charged her $2,300. (I have the receipts). 1) they said no rear diff leak, but it was obviously leaking out of the pinion gear. They never tried to fix it. . 2) when I bought the car and drove it 3.5 hours home, I checked the transmission pan and all 11 bolts were loose, and the transmission fluid was over filled by at least 1.5 quarts. The transmission bolts were only "FINGER TIGHT". Never torqued down to even 10 ft lbs. leaked all over the place and obviously leaking out of the torque converter which was never documented. 3) Ddd some other work in which I needed to remove the oil pan (which didn't seem to be leaking after their job) but since they used that stupid make a gasket crap, it took me 5+ hours to clean it up. They could have bought a nice Felpro gasket for $45 like I did, and the job would've been much cleaner and effective. In my honest opinion, these people don't have a clue how to do routine jobs and inspections, but they sure know how to grab money from you. Avoid this place. Sorry to have to review as such, but I give credit where it is due even if it's bad credit. read more

These mechanics are the worst--dishonest and will keep you coming back by methodically destroying one part after fixing another. Because I went to Circle-M for an oil change, my car now has a major oil leak. Because one of the inexperienced mechanics was listening for sounds from my car, my dashboard has been half pried open. Because I trusted them with my suspension, it handles badly with the increased burden of struts that have been damaged to exhibit worse wear than before. Also, they say they rotate your tires but don't know what that means. The owners who never get their hands dirty probably make all the profit off this scam dual school/"professional" mechanic business. The underpaid and lazy teenage mechanics and one or two flunkies who work there don't understand that a tire rotation isn't taking the tires off to check something and haphazardly putting them back on; or they think most customers are idiots who are easily taken advantage of. read more

After several weeks of troubleshooting for vacuum leaks, fuel pressure, exhaust leaks and I cant remember what else, a friend told us to take it to Circle M. Too bad there's not a ten star rating option. I just had my rear brakes repaired. The customer servic I receive from Circle M is the best I've ever experienced. They kept me in the loop and showed me why my rear brakes weren't working. It took a little longer than expected to finish the job, due to my Suburban being older and not being able to find new parts for it, but they did it! Any other shop would've put in used parts. I really appreciate them doing that, since they know I use the Suburban for daily driving, pulling trailers, and family traveling. I will be bringing in my BMW for brakes, next. My "check gages " light came on and voltmeter went to zero while traveling from LA to North Bay. I stopped in Bakersfield to get alternator diagnosed on urgent basis. Charlene was very helpful on the phone while I was trying to find a shop that could get me in immediately. The shop ran diagnostics and the alternator passed which gave me confidence enough to complete the journey. Circle M is the absolute worst place in the world you can do business with. To say that the owner represents his business poorly is to say the truth. The auto shop will rip you off insanely, $1200 for my brake pads to be renewed. They also broke multiple other parts of my car so that I could come back and spend more money, definitely took it somewhere else. They forgot to put a screw back into the caliper which caused my rotor to go bad within days. They're also forgotten to put lug nuts back onto a friends car which caused their tire to fall off. This business is a rip off to say the least. Save yourself and do not take your vehicle here. read more

Took my car there to get the front brakes done and fix a leak in my power steering fluid about 9 months ago. They replaced the power steering pump. It never fixed the leak and had a different mechanic look at it a few months later and it turns out the leak was somewhere else entirely. Today I was informed after a wobble in the steering when I brake that the brakes are warped and were installed improperly by Circle M so I am having to replace them again. Jack and Ruth Murray 7/30/2023 On July 8, 2023, we began our rv trip from San Diego, planning on visiting the National Forests. Five hours into the trip, just outside of Bakersfield a warning light came on indicating our exhaust particular filter was full. We made it to Bakersfield pulling a 16,000-pound 5th Wheel. We spent the weekend researching for a repair facility. Through our research another repair facility highly recommended Circle M Truck Repair Inc. On Monday morning we took the truck to Circle M. We spoke with the Manager/Sandy Smith who immediately assigned Johnny, the shop foreman to look at our truck and make a diagnosis. Stephanie and Johnny thoroughly explained the problem to us. The particulate filter was full and the root cause of the problem was faulty sensors. H They immediately sent out the filter to be cleaned and began replacing the sensors once the filter was returned. Bryce, the mechanic explained in detail what was broken, and how it was fixed. We found that extremely helpful making us feel confident about his knowledge. We got the truck back that Thursday. As we were getting ready to leave Bakersfield on Frida morning, we noticed a spring was broken on our 5th wheel camper. We called Stephanie for a reference who could fix it and She said they could fix it. She immediately sent Johnny over to determine what could be done. Within an hour Bryce came over to replace the spring. We feel very Blessed and fortunate to have happened upon Circle M/ We highly recommend them as a number one, a top-notch repair business. Called back (having had my car fixed) to get my car smogged with the voucher to be told that they are not taking vouchers for the V.C.A.N. program and that I never made the appointment! All they did is change the name. Same shady owners and mechanics. Most likely changed it because of all the complaints to the bureau of automotive repair. They use cut rate after market part. Mechanics don't care at all. The one I dealt with was Will. Actually seemed like he got off on ripping my son off. These scheisters had his car 3 separate times over a week. At a cost of over $500 for an alternator that was the wrong fit for the car. Towed his car across town to Le-toy. Was fixed correctly that day. Steer clear of this place. My car wasn't starting, so I got it towed to Circle M Tire and Automotive. They had good Google reviews, so I figured I'd give them a try. They called me the next day to let me know that my cylinders had low compression and advised me to tear down my engine to figure out what causes the low compression levels and go from there. They quoted me $2200 just to remove the engine and inspect it, then additional for the needed repair after the inspection. I couldn't afford that, so I decided to move my car to another automotive shop. So I went to the shop to get my car, and they charged me $185 for the compression test they said they did. They gave me my invoice and receipt, but NO COMPRESSION READINGS, just comment saying "performed compression test and found cylinders 1,2,3 with low compression." Did they really do a compression test, who knows? For a car that is not starting, compression level wouldn't be the first thing you check. And for $185, they should at least have a proof that they performed a compression test. So I got my car towed to another automotive shop, got a call the next day, and told me that my car needed a fuel pump replacement. After a day, I got my car back for less than half the $2200 Circle M quoted me for inspection alone. So, in addition to towing costs, I payed Circle M $185 for nothing. read more
