Messed up on a fuel cleaning service. Car started misfiring. Thankfully they fixed it but I suppose only time will tell if they permanently damaged my car. If you get a fuel cleaning service done, I wouldn't tag on a bunch of other services with it. Just do the fuel cleaning service and an oil change at most. I think I forced these guys to rush by asking for too much maintenance in one visit. Hopefully they will test my engine components when I get my next Oil change to see if everything is running strong. read more

My car is in an era where things are starting to fall apart so naturally I've been needing a lot of work done lately. I find myself returning to this location specifically because of the care and the integrity of the main staff. (and the price point as expensive as it may seem is actually pretty affordable) They may do their average suggestions for repair, but they don't try to strong arm or make it feel disingenuous. As a woman I am happy to have found a shop that doesn't make me feel preyed upon. All the older gentleman have a good sense of humor and they don't keep secrets. Last time I was in one of the gentleman was kind enough to help explain how a certain function of my car works in order to help me determine whether or not to move forward with a suggested repair. This WAS my preferred spot to do my oil changes. However, yesterday I had to buy two new tires, which is what leads to my lowered-star review. within the last 3 months, I've gotten an oil change and replaced a CV boot here. This is the only place I have visited for ANY car work within the past couple years. However, they failed to mention that my tires were worn pretty bad in the front and that I should probably get a tire rotation. When I went to air up my tires this past weekend, the guy at the tire shop told me I have to buy two new front tires because the front passenger one was about to explode. Both front ones were worn down pretty bad, but that one was running on faith. So....why didn't the guys here suggest the tire rotation when I got my CV boot done? Plus, the last time I was here, they were really pushing for my struts to be done despite me saying I need to wait for my tax return to come back. (I finally did my struts elsewhere since Uncle Sam decided that I owe this year for the very first time). Brake masters gave me a written quote for the work, but I was able to find a place that did it for almost $100 cheaper. Hey, $100 may not sound like much, but when it is the same amount that I owe the federal government, I'll take it. I left two stars because I don't have any real complaints about my oil changes and the guy up in the front is always nice and friendly. read more

I paid almost $1200 to replace my alternator, and I replaced the battery at the same time, (which I picked up and brought to them to install). 5 months later my alternator is out again and battery is dead. I take my car up there they check it out and say the battery is dead and the alternator is good. I got another mechanic to check it out and sure enough, the alternator was bad! He takes the alternator out and come to find out I paid $600 for a Refurbished alternator!!!!!!! That was suppose to be BRAND NEW!!! Watch out for these people they'll scam you!!!! I will NEVER give this company another dime of my money, EVER!!!! When we went to exchange the alternator so a REAL mechanic could replace it for me, they didn't say anything because they knew they F'd up. I'm so angry, I wish I could get my money back for the crappy underhanded BS they did. If you choose to let them work in your car please be careful. I'd hate for someone else to go through what I did and there's a lot of older people around here so no telling how many elders they've scammed out of 100's if not 1000's of dollars!!! read more

Please avoid this location. I don't know if it's just this location, or of it's Brake Masters business model, but they totally ripped me off. I went in for a a/c freon recharge, which they did, charged the whole $90, and I went on my way. Later I came back because It wasn't cooling again, to which they took in for inspection, and said it was some band that needed to be replaced inside the a/c, total charge to be $320. Well it's summer, and this supposedly is a legit company so I trust them. Pa the $320, good to go. On my way home I notice that for a new system, it is not cooling as good as it should be, but I thought maybe I needed to let it run for a few hours. Fast forward 2 days and the system does not cool at all, I mean AT ALL. I take it in for a reinspection, now it turns out it's the compressor that doesn't work. Total to repair is $920!!!! I ask them how come they didn't see this issue before, to which they answer that it is hard to tell. I think to myself how I can't just keep throwing money at the system without them knowing full well that it will be fixed. I asked them if they are sure it's the compressor, and they answer with a clear "yes." I am having my lawyers deal with them because supposedly the manager told me he wasn't sure it was the compressor, but that he thought it most likely was. This is a LIE. The own manager told me he was sure it's the compressor. So basically I could be forking up $900 to replace a compressor, with the chance to come back later and having them find out it's yet another issue somewhere else that they hand't seen before. I took to another mechanic who fixed the issue for $400 (parts, labor, freon), and mentioned that Brake Masters had over filled the freon and because of that, the compressor got messed up. Please avoid. Total scammers. Typical phony mechanics that want to screw up people who know nothing about car repairs and want to pull a fast one on them. I am also putting up a complaint on BBB, so hopefully this doesn't happen to other customers. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. SCAMMERS SCAMMERS SCAMMERS. read more

All the management there are so helpful. I know Dan by name haha because he's always there answering the phone for us. My husband and I go here for all of our car work. When something is still causing a problem they are ready to help! I get all my oil changes, breaks, a/c checks, and right now they just got done with my alternator. They are very thorough. I have gone to this location for years now. I have had brakes, oil changes and other repair work. I went today for a oil change that I scheduled in advance. They could not find the appointment even though I had the confirmation email and an appointment reminder email. They said it would be an hour and a half. After an hour and 40 minutes I came back and my car had not even been started. I was then told that it would be another 30 minutes. I left without getting service. There was no apology or discount offer for losing my appointment or running way beyond the quoted time. I won't be going back. read more

***UPDATE 10/02/2020*** Since my review posted below, 3 years ago, I have used Brake Masters for my all of my oil changes (full synthetic), and with their loyalty card after the 4th oil change you get the 5th one free, awesome! During these 3 years I have never experienced anything but personable, professional and upbeat staff at this location from management down every single time. Fast-forward to today, 10/02/2020, I took my vehicle in for front brakes, this time having pulling to the left while braking and metal on metal sounds coming from my front brakes and knowing full well I could trust these guys. I dropped my truck off with Brake Masters Manager, Dan Payne, early too I might add, as Dan was opening up shop he noticed me patiently waiting in the parking lot for my appointment time and came out and asked me if I'd like to come in and he would get me rolling, awesome! So, about an hour after I dropped off the truck I received a phone call from Dan with the details of what needed to be done, he explained step by step what his team would do, he also broke down for me coupons and warranty discounts that could be applied, he saved me a lot of money there and this was very much appreciated! I picked up the truck later in the day and voila! I have brakes again! No noises, no pulling left or right, drives like a dream! Thank you to you and your team Dan for an excellent job done! I have been recommending this location for over 3 years to anyone in need of service, and today just solidified my confidence for recommendations! You guys are awesome! They advertised a brake special for just over $100.00, wanted to charge me nearly $600.00, saying that I needed new rotors. The funny thing is that Gateway Chevrolet, a dealership, laughed at that and said the rotors were in great shape and didn't need to be replaced. I got my brakes done at the dealership for nearly $400 less than Brake Masters quoted. Oh, I forgot to mention, they had a synthetic oil change advertised for $54.99 plus taxes, extra oil, etc. As I picked up my vehicle, they charged me over $90.00! They said my vehicle needed 3 extra quarts of oil. It's apparently liquid gold. I tried to argue that it wasn't fairly priced, but they wouldn't budge. Laughably, they tried to give me coupons for my next visit. I made it obvious to them I wouldn't be back. Do yourself a favor, spend your hard earned money elsewhere! My friend pulled into this location when his tire went flat. He went to the back area of the lot. While he was waiting for me to get there a tech named Craig walked back to see if he was ok. Craig went above and beyond. Not only did he change the flat, he made sure the spare which was extremely low was aired up and also checked the pressure in the other 3 tires. Have gone to this location several times for an oil change with no issue. Just took it in and am extemely disappointed. After they took my car back they came and said that they have to use the oil recommended for my car from the maker, and it would cost 70 dollars for an oil change! I came in with a coupon to where it would cost under 20. When I said that they had changed my oil before many times and this had never happened; I was told that they used to use the cheaper non-synthetic oil, but now they can't do that. I call complete B.S. on this whole situation. I either use the dealership that I bought my car from brand new to get my oil changed (I drive a 2013 mid-size Nissan and I bought it from Peoria Nissan), or this Brake Masters location. Whenever I get my oil changed at the dealership it is approx 45 dollars, so 70 dollars is insane. We all know that getting work done at an actual dealership costs a lot more than most places. Whats more, I called my dealership and told them what had happened at this Brake Masters, and they laughed. They said they were glad I drove away because there is no way an oil change on my car should ever be that much. The dealership said this! I'm giving 2 stars, because before today I have had no issues here, but after todays experience I will not be coming back. read more

As a woman, I'm always on the cautious side when it comes to auto care. I swear it looks like I have a big target on my forehead when I walk into the tire store, the brake store, etc. to get overcharged. I needed brakes - they were squeaking, not grinding luckily, but I knew I was overdue for new break pads. Recently i checked to see if my brake lights were working which I eventually found out they werent. Long story short, I went to Pep Boys as they were the only location that was open on Sunday to ask for a price on how much a brake switch would be for my truck. I got quoted $156.71 after everything which included parts and labor. I'm not auto mechanically inclined but I know enough to realize that price was completely outrageous so I waited a couple more days and I found brake masters and once I called they gave me a price of $70 for the complete visit and the part was just right down the street at their supply warehouse. I also explained to the manager Butch that I wasn't sure what exactly the issue was with my brake lights I just told him that I thought it was the switch and Butch explained that if they made the repair and it didn't fix the issue, then I wouldn't be charged which to me is how an auto body shop should run. My wife and I waited about an hour and a half and everything was completely fixed and I paid less than half of what pep boys wanted and wasn't pushed into buying other unnecessary parts. This place is a joke honest to God. Came here for an alignment the front guy told me it was gonna be 1 to 1 1/2 hour job. I said okay cool I'll go to the gym and hopefully the car will be done. Came back after 2 hours and the car has not been touch. What can I say or do. The man make some kind of an excuse and said that they needed to put the car on the rack and that he will give me a free alignment. Well this isn't a problem but the fact is the principal telling customers the wrong time and making up stupid excuses. Offered me a Free service. On almost every occasion I've witnessed someone come in and ask a question about a small thing (light is on, buckle not eroding, etc., etc., etc.) and they have taken time to fix and not charge the customer. I went to brake masters awhile Back to get my brakes replaced. They immediately started squeezing. I went back 3 times and still they were not fixed. I was always too busy to go back and left it the way it is. My car became an embarrassment because you would hear me everywhere I went. Recently it became really bad so I called brake masters out of frustration. I spoke to Butch. Who said come back I will make it right and that is exactly what he did. He went over and beyond! The bald guy in the front wouldn't even look at my car to see if they would be able to do the service when he offered me the service last time I was there . Don't plan on coming to this shop and paying the advertised special....the up sell is hard. I paid nearly double what I planned for brakes. Also had full service oil change, and now my air conditioner is making a humming noise that wasn't there before, and when I pulled into my driveway, they left the cap off my windshield wiper reservoir and fluid was leaking. Butch is wonderful to work with and went above and beyond for me. I've been having issues with squeaky brakes after we recently replaced them. After about a month, my brakes starting squeaking again and I called in and Bush just told me to come in and he will take care of it. After fixing my car and getting my oil changed, Butch told me that if the squeaking happens again, just to come in and he will replace my pads with no questions.
