Neil & Fiona of MXBloom were our power couple duo that provided both photography & videography services. Back in fall of 2022, they did our engagement shoot. We originally weren't that interested in doing one, but that was one of the best decisions because it allowed us to interact with Fiona (& Neil) before our big day. She directed us, captured our moments beautifully, and was so fun to work with. On our big day, Neil & Fiona were a rockstar team! They were professional, polite, AND also so much fun to have around! What I found particularly striking was their ability to capture the candid and posed moments throughout the day, without us feeling like we had to break from "being in the moment" (if that makes sense.) You could tell throughout the entire time, they were both "on" and trying to identify all the amazing, key moments to photograph/video. There were several times we had to shift our timeline during the wedding, and they were both very responsive and accommodating to those changes. They worked so well with our DJ/MC Alan (which by the way, is such an important aspect - vendors being able to work together like one team.) Their service and value provided was worth every cent. And given our wedding was a blending of our Asian (Chinese/Vietnamese) heritage and Western upbringing, we felt Fiona & Neil were the PERFECT people to document our big day. It was also such a touching moment seeing how my parents, who speak Chinese Mandarin, were able to make conversation with Neil & Fiona. Oh, one other mind-blowing fact. Fiona was about 7.5 months pregnant when she was working on our wedding day. Yet, the way she carried herself and energy she brought, you couldn't tell she was pregnant at all! A superwoman! Jason was such a pleasure to work with for our summer wedding! At our initial consultation he was…read moreso kind and informative and gave us all the information we needed on the different price ranges and packages which made it incredibly easy and transparent. Our engagement session was so comfortable and beautiful despite us not knowing how to pose correctly, and with our dog in the pictures! But Jason's patience and guidance helped us get beautiful natural looking pictures. At our wedding, Jason arrived early to grab some amazing drone footage of our beautiful venue and scouted for some of the best spots to take first look, sunset, bridal portraits, etc. Jason really helped us plan out our schedule for the day and how the wedding party, family portraits, and cocktail hour would fit together so we could prioritize spending time with our guests. Jason and Sean did a beautiful job doing photo and video together, and all of our guests enjoyed the candid portraits photos from the wedding. We're so thankful we also got Jason's photobooth for our wedding package because it was so easy to use and could print in multiples so everyone one of our guests would be able to get the copy they wanted! Jason was so helpful with the design of the photo strips and we made it perfectly the way we dreamed right down to the flowers/color scheme we envisioned. He even made himself available for a prewedding chat, to make sure he understood the most important aspects we would like captured during the time we had him. I first became aware of Ben's talent after seeing some portraits he did of my friends who are in a band. This was several years ago. Since then, I've followed Ben's blog regularly because all of his photos are just so beautiful. When I got engaged, I knew immediately I wanted Ben to photograph our wedding, but I didn't bother to consider him because I figured his rates were too expensive. However, after checking out several other wedding photographers and not being satisfied with their talent, I thought, "Why not?" I was shocked when I got Ben's rate booklet and saw that his packages are much lower than any other photographer I queried. And he's the most talented! We booked him immediately after that. Thank goodness our wedding was in April (outside wedding season) because he was free! I heard his calendar is usually booked solid during the summer months. As the big day approached, we met a couple times to discuss the day-of timeline and any requests we had. Ben was willing to arrive at any time we needed him, and willing to stay as late as we wanted. Such a dedicated photographer! I don't think it's right when photographers charge by the hour because they can totally miss some camera-worthy shots. Ben's style is photojournalistic, but that doesn't mean he can't do portraits. (As I mentioned, the first work I saw of his was portraiture.) We just received our photos a couple days ago and they are incredible! Ben even delivered many more photos than was listed in our price package. And it only took 6 weeks to edit and deliver! I imagine this was partly because our wedding was one of the first of the season, but such a fast turnaround is almost unheard of. I have a friend whose photos were promised at 6 MONTHS, but still took nearly a year! I posted them on Facebook and words my friends used to describe the photos are "phenomenal", "wonderful", and "gorgeous." Viewing the photos is almost like reading a storybook of my wedding day, or seeing footage off a hidden camera. Ben got so many shots of people unawares, which truly capture the emotion they felt. I keep going back through the photos because are they are so good. It's an addiction! When I came across John's portfolio I was really struck not only by his photography style, attention to lighting, and interest in scouting for visually interesting areas to shoot at but also by his talent to capture such great moments, how everyone he photographed seemed so natural and comfortable. I really recommend doing an engagement session with John before your wedding. It really does help make your wedding day go all the more smoothly, since John's already had a day to gain rapport with you (we did a hike together at his suggestion and loved it). We just got our wedding pictures back (the craftsmanship and thoughtfulness of the box they prepared for us is just incredible) and I am so happy and thankful that John has been our photographer. We are so happy with our engagement and wedding pictures and I am so excited about how many beautiful moments he caught, like the look on the groom's father's face when he saw his son and silly things like how the dog and I looked at each other at first sight (with the groom). Robbie called me the same evening and we talked for awhile about my goals, dates, and what he offers with pricing. He was super personable and made sure everything was clear. I ended up booking him for photography of my wedding which included engagement session. During the engagement session, he was so funny and made both husband and I feel comfortable. This created genuine candid photos of us laughing and being playful. With new photographers, it's always scary and may feel awkward but Robbie made everything so effortless. I don't remember the turn around for receiving the photos but it wasn't anything crazy and reasonable for how busy his scheduling is. For the actual wedding, again, Robbie was on time, interactive, and made the guests and wedding party comfortable. He brought an assistant with him to get every possible photo we could dream of and let me tell you, the photos are all AMAZING. All Robbie kindly asked for was a plate of food during reception. How could you not provide that to him & his assistant when capturing the most special moments and there for 10+ hours that day. Due to getting married during July (the busiest time of year for weddings) I believe the turnaround for photos was a few months. The anticipation killed me but so worth the wait! Robbie and his team throughout the process of everything was great on communication, transparency, and really making sure you receive photos you absolutely love. I even recommended him to a couple in my wedding party who were getting married and they booked him with no hesitation! If you truly want someone you can feel comfortable with and photos you want to show to everyone 24/7 then book Robbie!

Booking Robbie was the single biggest mistake we made in our wedding planning…read more We hired Robbie in January 2024 for a fall 2025 wedding. At first, he was professional and responsive -- offering tips, ideas, and fast replies. But after we paid the deposit, our experience drastically changed. Robbie offered a complimentary engagement shoot with our package, which also included a planning meeting. On the day of our scheduled meeting, he was a no-show. When I texted him, he replied, "I knew I was forgetting a meeting! I'm at a friend's birthday lol," and called us from the event. He seemed distracted and rushed through the call. He then suggested rescheduling the shoot due to weather concerns. Since we were flying in from California, this meant rearranging our travel, rental car, hair, and makeup -- at our own expense. After making those changes, he later admitted he had double-booked, and we needed to revert to the original date. After the shoot, it took several follow-ups to receive the photos. He gave vague excuses and claimed he "thought" he had emailed them (he hadn't) -- the same excuse he previously laughed about using on another bride. He also shared details about being behind on edits and personal life issues, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere. When we finally received the photos -- four months later -- they were not up to the standard we expected. We chose to redo the shoot with another photographer, which caused delays in our stationery and added unexpected costs. Ultimately, we decided not to move forward with Robbie for our wedding and notified him over six months in advance, which we believed met the terms in the contract. He disagreed and demanded the full remaining balance. After a series of tense messages, I let him know I would be consulting legal counsel, at which point he ended communication and stated, "contract is terminated." After posting this honest review, I received a message from Robbie threatening legal action if I did not take it down. Rather than take responsibility, he attempted to intimidate me into silence. I've reviewed the contract carefully and confirmed via legal consultation that I met my obligations -- including canceling with ample notice and never disputing the non-refundable deposit. I have every right to share my personal experience, and I stand by what I've written. Vendors who respond to valid criticism with threats instead of integrity reveal exactly why the criticism exists. In summary, this experience was unprofessional and disappointing. Don't let his portfolio fool you -- the experience isn't worth it.
