If you find yourself on Mountain Avenue near Arrow Route in Upland, CA... do your taste buds a favor, and stop in at Brandon's Diner. The Benitez Family offers a huge menu of all-day breakfast, lunch & dinner diner classics, along with some family-favorites such as fajita baked potatoes (yep, exactly what you think they may be)... with a FULL BAR where it's always 5 o'clock somewhere! I had a slightly dirty, lightly vermouth-kissed vodka martini -- well suggested & expertly served with ice chips still intact by the friendly & knowledgeable Alex -- a huge Bleu Cheese Burger to round out the olive flavors on the martini, onion rings, and a slice of house-made Cherry Pie a la Mode. Sorry, no pix of the burger & onion rings, I was too enthused, too hungry, and a bit too infused to get a snap. But let me attest that the burger was perfectly cooked to a slightly crispy medium-well sear, palleted onto a sesame seeded bun -- along with generous portions of lettuce, tomato, pickles, special sauce & at least one handful of bleu cheese -- and served up with pre-breaded, but well-cooked onion rings both on the burger & on the side. My backup bleu cheese creation was a classic California Cobb Salad, but today was all about the beef. Maybe next time... which I hope will be soon. My lovely companion, Dana had a French Dip that came with an entire soul bowl of au jus. We traded some rings for some fries, and I'm glad we did, because the fries were dredged in a bit of four & perfectly cooked to a crunchy outside, and a smooth & silky smooth potato-rich interior... definitely Ketchup's best friend. The Carrot Cake Dana devoured disappeared so fast, that these are all the pixels I could capture. Long story short, this isa great place to spend your eating out budget, and if you come on Friday nights, you just might catch the next AGT star at Karaoke Night with the Elderly Brothers. My father son and I had breakfast here on 12/6/24 and we were serviced by the incredible Kathy. She was kind, energetic, and attentive. Had a nice lunch at Brandon's with my aunt the other day. I got the open face meatloaf sandwich. The ambiance is great (used to be a Mimi's Cafe)... so there was nice decor, comfortable seating, and good ol' comfort food with hefty portion sizes. Located in the old Mimi's Cafe location. We just moved back to Upland after a year out of state so we were excited to see the empty building was now occupied. I have been to the original one quite some time ago & remembered it being pretty good so was looking forward to trying the new location. Came on Saturday before Father's Day, only a few minute wait. As we were seated we were asked what we wanted to drink & given menus. Our waitress was very friendly. We ordered a strawberry waffle combo and huevos rancheros (with potatoes on the side). She brought out the plates and before placing the plate down, noticed the potatoes were not on the side so we went back right away to fix it. We did have to ask for utensils. The food was good. I was a little disappointed in the lack of meat on the huevos rancheros (maybe 5-6 small pieces of pork in the sauce. Hubby was happy that the sausage links were not the super small ones, that some restaurants use. All in all, it was ok. I totally forgot to take pictures (oopsie!). Wow. What a disappointment. We walked in this morning around 8:45am. Not busy at all. The young man at reception seated us took our drink orders just 2 coffees and then apparently forgot about us. Had driven past this place several times and finally checked it out for breakfast. Been twice now and both times we were seated right away. Not sure if that's typical or we just got lucky but that was a major plus! There's plenty of parking too so that's also nice. The place is very clean and spacious inside as well. Staff are friendly and the food is actually really good! I loved their crunchy french toast (covered in corn flakes) and their breakfast skillets. Restaurant used to be Mimi's Cafe. Very roomy and never really crowded. The food and drinks were what was expected. Same as an IHOP or Black Bear Diner. I had the country fried steak and my wife had a burger. I recommend this spot. read more

Offensive and unprofessional, I was asked to go back outside for someone in my party having a coffee, and that I would be seated when they were finished with their outside coffee. Let's do the math here: That $5 outside coffee you wouldn't allow in costed you $100 in business and your employee a $20 tip. Good job Rosa (a manager), way to keep people coming back. After telling Enrique the general manager he said his hands were tied and that it's policy there's nothing he can do. Let me just say there are plenty of better options to go and dine at. However, it is Valentine's Day and I came tonight with my husband and my friends and it is definitely one of the worst experiences that I've had. I have been here 2 hours and still have got no dinner. They are taking your sweet time getting to people and this is the first time that I have felt like they need better servers and cooks. I could say a lot. But suffice it to say that this place was horrible. What happened, Brandon's? You used to have good food and good service, with a smile! The tacos for "taco Tuesday" which I asked if there was still a special today, were not a different price than listed on every other day. 4 tacos, 3 chicken and 1 beef were ordered and we were served 4 chicken. They were completely flavorless. The salsa was flavorless. The SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. The waitress argued with me that one taco was or was not beef... then never brought my Husband a refill on his nearly $6 strawberry lemonade saying the fountain was out of lemonade and there was no one to change it. She spilled salsa all over the rim of the dish and took an overly long time to bring more salsa, running away before we could ask anything more of her. $45 later and all we received was excuses and a waitress that ignored us after bringing sub par food that was also incorrect. read more

We live one mile away and had never been until last Sunday. We loved it so much that we came back the next night! We sat in the bar both days and had different servers. On Sunday, I feel like maybe the bartender was also the manager. We had excellent service both days. Food was delicious. Sunday we had: the Reuben sandwich, buffalo wings, side salads. Horrible customer service! Walked in and asked for a table for 2. There was no one else waiting for a table at this point. Hostess said to sit anywhere. We found a nice area where there were other diners seated and sat at a booth. After a few minutes of sitting there we were approached by an employee that in a rude and condescending tone said that "they would take care of us but that were weren't supposed to sit here because there was a wait and this was not part of the bar". As this was going on the hostess was making gestures in a hostile easy and mouthed that we were supposed to sit in the bar. We explained that we were told to sit anywhere, and that there was no wait when we arrived. The woman said that this was not the information that she was given and made it clear that she didn't believe us. I told her I felt her approach was completely inappropriate, and that her hostess handled the situation very poorly. She continued to be rude and said that while they would take care of us, we were still sitting in a closed area (even though two other tables were full). Her attitude was just nasty, and it's unfortunate that she chose to handle the situation in such poor way. Conflict resolution is obviously a skill she doesn't possess. We decided to take our business elsewhere, and will not likely return. read more

I went in with my 3 kids and aunt. I'm pretty sure that's why we were sat in the far back corner. They literally ignored us the entire time. After about 10 minutes we were able to place our order. I got chili verde with a sunny side up egg and a coffee. The food took about 45 minutes to come out. At this point my kids were over it and screaming. My egg was cold. Like frozen cold. I cut into the yolk and that's how it looked! I was grossed out. The Guac looked like it was sitting out for a while. When our server finally came to refill my coffee, it tasted as if rubbing alcohol was mixed in it. Horrible experience. Horrible service. Waste of $75! read more

What a great diner breakfast spot! I had the corned beef hash and eggs and the hash browns were cooked extra crispy just how I like them and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The corned beef hash was great too, the canned corned beef kind. What made the experience 10x better was our server, Kathy. She was amazing! She was so welcoming, warm, and super attentive. She always came back just to top off my coffee. I just moved here from LA and she made my fiancé and I feel like we were already hometown locals, that's how welcoming she was.
