Came here about a couple days ago with my grandma and aunt and our server Andrea was very rude, she made a snobby remark when I asked for a drink and after I said I don't have any ID proceeded to say " whatever " the chilaquiles were nasty the sauce tasted weird and super artificial and the michelada wasn't good, the drinks there don't taste like they have any alcohol since they are premade in batches. Decided I felt like diner food but wanted a drink and remembered that Brandon's has a full bar. Plus they would have Monday night football on the TV. They were slow, but we were greeted by Kathy who was in a great cheerful mood and turned out to be our waitress. Wife choose the shrimp basket and got mashed potatoes as her side. She really enjoyed the shrimp and said they could be from a steakhouse. Her drink wasn't as strong as she liked but she does like very strong drinks. Her vodka and diet soda did look like the standard drink. I got the hot roast beef sandwich and got a salad as my side. I asked about the soup and Kathy said they had poblano soup which is one of my favorite peppers so I got that as well. The soup was very tasty, not hot at all so some added heat could be good. It had tortilla strips on top with some corn inside. I think a scoop of sour cream would have been amazing but the soup didn't last long on the table as it was great, as promised! The roast beef was deli style meat cooked up with two slices of bread underneath and plenty of brown gravy. I enjoyed it and would order it again. The side salad was too watery at the bottom but not really a big issue. Kathy was an amazing waitress. She set the tone for the evening and keep our spirts high with great conversation. Alex the bartender was really nice and had a couple of questions about how to make my Hendricks martini so he may be new at the craft, but he's a good bartender. Most Sunday's after church my big group comes to Brandon's and eat breakfast. We always have a great time. This time we had Karla as our server she was amazing. Lovely personality and very attentive. All and all a great place to eat some good food spend time with family and friends. read more

THIS FOOD WAS NOT GOOD!!! first off I'm not a picky person but how can u ruin breakfast so badly ?! $40 dollars for a short stack and chicken a waffle. -Pancakes were DRY -country potatoes (I could count the little potatoes wedges in ONE HAND) they were BURNT and so sooo very SALTY ! -the eggs were FLAVOR LESS AND BURNT. -the only semi good thing was the chicken. It seems all Brandon's diners are different. I remember trying the location off 60 fwy/ vineyard a while ago and I didn't really care for it. We decided to give the location off (mountain/upland) a try and we would go back. Restaurant was nice and clean. I ordered a michelada and it was good, chips and salsa Hubby ordered breakfast, it was average, nothing special, he did like it though. I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich (waitress recommended) it was really good, I'd definitely get it again. Waitress was friendly. I rated 4 stars just because they have a new menu (Birria) which I originally wanted but was told the cook who knew how to make it was not in (bummer) 2nd- service was a little on the slower side. Our waitress was very nice but she kept forgetting to bring us the basics. You know when you're ready to eat but just missing your ketchup, ranch , syrup for your pancakes and patiently wait but never gets there and your food is getting cold and get embarrassed to ask again. When I kindly reminded her she apologized and did not get mad lol . Other than that, will definitely come back. I'll update my stars on my 2nd visit. :) read more

Firstly, I enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant and bar. The Mexican feel was inviting. The staff were nice and very consistent with checking in. My boyfriend wanted his blueberries in his waffle but the waiter I guess didn't hear him and the blueberries ended up a topping. Regardless of that, the food was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the salad so much but next time I'll pick a different dressing. I didn't like the sesame, it was not a sweet flavor profile like I'm use to when it comes to Asian salad. The one on Foothill & Campus is definitely the best of all the location of all I've tried. The service and attention to customers are outstanding. The food is very good, if there is anything not to your liking, they will make it right. They have daily specials unique to this location. It's a diner without the typical "diner" feel. Taco Tuesday? We've frequented Brandon's diner many times. Usually we go to the Rancho location which is great. Today we happened to be near the Upland location on Mountain. (The old Mimi's Cafe) The food was good, as it usually is, but KATHY made it extra special. She has an upbeat, kind spirit that I could feel the moment she greeted us. Came here for a Sunday brunch and it was just ok. There were 6 of us. My biggest problem was with the service. I don't know her name but she had attitude the entire time. From asking what we wanted to drink, to what we wanted to order, to bringing out our food, to bringing out the wrong dish to bringing out the checks that wasen't itemized correctly. She was just terrible. It's amazing that she still has a job in the customer service field. Her not wanting to serve us was written all over her face. And it translated in how she spoke with us and messed up on what we ordered and how it was charged. Like this nonchalant, I dont care attitude. She was so bad that I was glad to pay my bill, even though it was wrong just so I could get out of there. Totally horrendous service. She should be glad I didnt save the reciept cuz I would definitely put you on blast. But you know who you are. Food was not bad. I ordered their roast beef sandwhich. Which came with mash potatoes and gravy. The roast beef was tender and thin. Cooked well. Tender. Flavorful. Price wasent bad either. Wouldve been 4 stars hands down. But just like this review. So I show up with friends to eat at this restaurant and there are signs asking us not to bring in outside drinks. However as a diabetic i cannot drink coffee with cream or half and half and sugar. I had brought my coffee which had almond milk with monk fruit in it ..,when ordering i was informed that i couldn't keep that cup on the table cuz it was outside. I asked if they had almond milk and monk fruit for any coffee I might add to my order? I was told they didn't have that but that the manager would get the server in trouble if there were outside cups on the table.. really? So I went out and put my cup into my car. I didn't order anything to drink but water because of it. It really bugged me cuz i had coffee that they couldn't provide.. so I'm writing this review. Food was great and service was good but there should be some leeway for those that have dietary needs. I've never been to a restaurant that has such signs pasted all over the place. I won't be back. Went to the new location on Mountain for breakfast. The food was just not good. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Machaca. They both lacked in flavor. The inside of the restaurant is nice and modern. (The side where you pass the bar) the other half of the restaurant looks depressing. The same as it was when Mimi's was there. My husband was craving brunch at such a late hour (2-3pm) and decided to try this over black bear diner for a few reasons (1. No wait , 2. Better ratings and 3 support smaller businesses) . I will say we were not disappointed. The portions are large and there breakfast is served all day . The menu has lots of Mexican options, i believe the founders were partly Mexican . How can I convey how disgusting my breakfast was this morning? Over medium eggs were raw underneath, more like barely over easy. Toast was supposed to be crispy but instead was lightly toasted and drowning in butter. Nothing about it was appetizing. We asked for water 5 times and never received it. And finally, after sending that back, our server seemed embarrassed and avoidant. I've worked in the service industry for years & restaurants specifically and the biggest thing is just accommodating to the customer and simply apologizing for the inconvenience. She sent someone else to send the check and never followed up with us. We still tipped because it wasn't her fault we didn't like our food, but she just avoided us afterwards. This was my first time trying the new Brandon's as everyone I know has been raving about it. Set in the old Mimi's restaurant, this branch of Brandon's is much roomier then the other location on Foothill. I took my wife and granddaughter there for breakfast on Saturday morning and had a really nice meal. Brandon's was busy, so there was a bit of a wait. Once we were seated by our wonderful waitress and given prompt attention. My wife ordered the County Skillet (Ham, Bacon, Sausage, Bell Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes & Cheese), my granddaughter wanted the blueberry pancakes with extra blueberries and I ordered the Belgian Waffle and Chicken. All three meals were hot, delicious and everything we were expecting. The service was great, the prices very reasonable and a nice but busy atmosphere. We really enjoyed ourselves and can see us coming back for many more great meals. read more

The ignorant manager and the other hostess girl are like deer in the headlights... Duuuuh. I'm sick and done with Brandon's. There's too many other places to get better service, better food and for less money. They should be competing for our dollars to earn our business.
