These plates were shared by our party of five. Our waiter was great and helped us with suggestions on certain dishes and also the quantity we might need for a party our size. He was spot on with everything. We sat on the rooftop, which is beautiful. In addition to table seating, there is also a very nice bar. The food was not only phenomenal, but there were so many gluten-free options! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful in this regard as well. The zucchini chips were so good. I actually had to ask him a second time to make sure they were truly gluten-free! This desserts look delicious, but we did not have room to even consider that. I would say the prices are a little bit high, but definitely worth it for a special occasion. My friend looked up their happy hour prices, and we are planning a visit for happy hour in the near future. In addition to the regular menu items, they also have a selection of fish depending on what is market fresh each day. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Monday. What a gorgeous, elegant restaurant! I attended a work lunch here, so we ate family style. And OH BOY did we eat. First, we started off with some Strawberry Spritz drinks with Prosecco. We were fully refreshed, as these were absolutely delicious. The food. Appetizers first, a selection of mezze and saganaki! I could have made a meal out of this course, everything was fantastic and fresh. Hummus, baba ganoush, turnips, olives, fresh pita bread with a couple of other yogurt-based spreads. Entrees. Chicken kabobs, salmon and roasted vegetables. Again, everything freshly made, flavorful and JUICY DELICIOUS. The salmon, especially was really tasty. Had an opportunity to take leftovers home, sure - don't mind if I do. The salmon made an EXCELLENT salmon salad the next day - it was still flavorful and fresh! A gem tucked away right off Millenium Park. It's a bit hard to find but once you do the free valet parking is great and the space is worth the journey. The decor is beautiful throughout and the large glass windows overlooking the park lovely. Our waitress was great and very attentive throughout the evening. The Pikilia was a great bang for your buck and the tzatziki and tirokafteri were favorites! I had the chicken souvlaki which was flavorful and others enjoyed the shrimp souvlaki, broccolini, greek fries, salmon and lamb shank! The brussels sprouts were incredible with the pomegranate giving them such a bright twist! The only other note was that there were a number of large events the night we were there so it was quite loud on the first floor and a bit hard to hear each other at the table. Finally hit up Avli on the Park after meaning to for months and yeah, glad we went. Not flawless but I'd go back no question. The space is just really nice. Right by the park, lots of windows, one of those modern places that somehow still feels warm instead of cold and try hard. Got a table with a little view and it just felt like an occasion, which was the whole point for date night. We split a bunch of small plates cause thats how I like to eat and everything looked great coming out. Chicken souvlaki was so good. Our server also got us to try a Greek wine I never wouldve picked and it was a great call. One thing though, the service kinda dragged near the end. Food came out at a fine pace but once we finished we sorta got forgotten, sat there a while waiting on the check and had to wave someone down. Not rude, just slow, and it pulled me out of the moment a little. Still a yes from me though. On arrival, was told to wait 15-20 minutes, after that we were told that the manager was telling the hosts to no longer accept walk ins as they were down a server. So we made a reservation on open table since there many open reservations times and were seated immediately. The food was good, however my salmon was overcooked, tough, and squeaked as I chewed. The carrot puree and lentils were delicious though. The saganaki was good, and was also tasty on pita. Came here on my own after walking along the lake. Overlooks a small park with lots of dogs such a peaceful view. Inside is spacious with a bar and tables. Enjoyed great service. Minus one star for a very loud table with a guest that was cursing loudly maybe tipsy from early happy hour. Such a beautiful space. The space alone, with light colors and walls of windows, makes it easy to like this restaurant. The elevated Greek food did not disappoint. We really enjoyed the tzatziki and pita and the fried eggplant and zucchini appetizers. Amanites pasta was a standout vegetarian option, while the lambchops were perfectly prepared. Among the spirit-free cocktails, the Eros and Ice was nice, but a little sweet for me. I ended up trading with another member of our party who had ordered the Mythic, which was one of the best spirit-free cocktails I've ever had. We were both delighted with the trade. Waters were refilled without even asking, the waitress checked in from time to time to make sure I was having a good experience, and the wait for all the food wasn't too long which was awesome. Food/Drink Items: There were good allot of options on the menu. I decided to try the $30 lunch special to try a little bit of everything. For the 1st course, I got pita with tzatziki. The 2nd course I got was Greek salad. I kind of wish the Greek salad had lettuce since it consisted of cucumber, cherry tomatoes, peppers, red onion, & feta cheese. This was my first time at any Avli location. This restaurant is so beautiful! The restaurant week brunch menu was well-rounded. Included a salad, an appetizer, and a main dish. I even up having some leftover since the plates were decent sized. Every single dish was really tasty except the chicken which seemed to be a little dry. The service was wonderful. All the dishes came out at perfect time and our server was lovely. I took my out-of-town friend to my fav Greek restaurant for lunch today. Avli offers a huge variety of delicious choices and a fabulous 3-course lunch menu. The portions are big enough for lunch AND leftovers. The weather was perfect to sit on outdoor rooftop today. I've been here numerous times and have dined from lunch, dinner, happy hour and brunch menus. Both rooftop and indoor dining areas are spacious, warm and welcoming. The servers are all friendly, professional and knowledgeable about menu items. We then ordered the Taverna lamb chops with a side of roasted potatoes to share. There were four lamb chops, but the meat was a little tough but decently flavorful, but would not order that again. We arrived on a beautiful Saturday evening, and the place was busy. Unfortunately, half the bar was blocked off, and we ended up sitting at the front with a poor view. It would've made more sense to block off the front instead, so guests could still enjoy the view of the park. There was only one bartender and no bar back, so service was understandable slow. We had a reservation, but were seated once our entire party arrived (3 of us). They have a variety of different seating types; we were seated at a high top. Service was pretty good; our server came twice consecutively pretty early before we were ready, and then didn't come for a while after that once we were actually ready to order. Other than that, our water was filled often, and the live-cutting of our fish dish was awesome! We started with drinks and the hummus. The not your muse cocktail was pretty and fruity but not super strong. I enjoyed the foam and the presentation of it. Overall the hummus was pretty standard. I think I'd get a different spread next time to try something more unique. We split the fish of the day, salmon dish, and the zucchini chips. The fish was awesome! Our waiter brought out the whole fish and cut it up / took out the bones in front of us, which was really cool to see. It had a lot of flavor and was served with some really good veggies. The salmon was really good and came with a quinoa, but wasn't super unique or special. My favorite part was definitely the zucchini chips!! Wow I loved these and I think I would go back solely for these and skip the rest. The passion fruit crème brûlée was actually huge which we did not expect, but didn't love the passion fruit flavor - it was quite sour which was kind of weird. TLDR: average, overpriced food and service We were excited to try this location having previously enjoyed dining at the river north location many times. When we walked in, we were excited by the beautiful decor and ambiance. Host stand was friendly and quickly got us to our table. The server took a while to get to us even though the restaurant was mostly empty. He was not particularly warm or informative. I didn't see the gyros that the other location was well known for. The waiter informed me they don't offer that here much to our disappointment since that was the main motivation for visit. Hard to believe a Greek place doesn't have gyros. We ordered the Saganaki, Souvlaki, and Moussaka. We did not order any drinks, just tap water. I enjoyed the Saganaki, but my fiancé who loves that dish normally didn't like it. The Souvlaki was fine, borderline dry and not super flavorful. The Moussaka was not our favorite at all - had a strong pumpkin taste and a weird consistency. Our total after 3.5% service charge () was $64 which seemed steep. After tip it was above $80 which seemed crazy for getting three dishes. I think of Avli as normally being a great value but maybe that's only the river north location. I don't think we'll be coming back to this location read more

Had an amazing brunch at Avli! First off, the restaurant itself is stunning. Lots of natural light, modern aesthetics, and beautiful greenery. Their food was also very yummy. Really enjoyed their chicken souvlaki! It was juicy and well seasoned. The pita bread and fries on the side were also delicious. Their tiramisu pancakes were addictingly delicious. Each bite was a fluffy, whipped cream, espresso-y bite of goodness. Their prices are a bit expensive but the portions are huge. It was kind of a long wait (50 mins) to get our food but the servers were very nice. They even gave us an icecream birthday cake to celebrate which was really sweet of them. read more

Can't climb stairs? Then you must be careful as it was a multiple back and forth finding the elevator and then making it work as the front desk just tells "go back". Food was decent enough to come back again (good view remember?) however the service ruined it. Yes, it looks pretty in pictures and the location is unbeatable however there were a lot to wish for. The watermelon salad was half decent as it had seeds. It's cubes of watermelon, how difficult is it to deseed them? The drinks were really good hence the 3 stars else would have been 2. I have been going to Avli since they opened their first one in Winnetka. I have been to Avli in the Park several times. When I saw their brunch for Greek Easter, I made reservations me and my son. Aside from the food (which is always delicious) the experience was terrible from start to finish. First, they tried to seat us in the back along the wall even though there were several lovely tables open along the window and bar. When I asked to be seated at one of those tables, we were told they were reserved for bigger parties. (This has actually happened before, but typically one of the owners is there and quickly accommodates) This time, we waited for a manager and literally stood in the middle of the dining room for close to 5 min before a manager came and said they were cleaning a table. The table they sat us at was for 4 people; as were the ones supposedly being saved for a bigger party. I accepted the table because at that point was too frustrated to push back. Our waiter was friendly; however more concerned with asking us if we wanted more drinks, than taking the dirty dishes off the table. He rarely came back to the table. When we finally got our check he informed me that 20% gratuity was included. At that point I was so flustered I did not push back. This gratuity was definitely not earned and explains why he was not inspired to take care of us. Although I love my Greek heritage and want to support Greek owned businesses;this Easter experience was a bust and I will think twice about returning. read more
