Finally hit up Avli on the Park after meaning to for months and yeah, glad we went. Not flawless but I'd go back no question. The space is just really nice. Right by the park, lots of windows, one of those modern places that somehow still feels warm instead of cold and try hard. Got a table with a little view and it just felt like an occasion, which was the whole point for date night. We split a bunch of small plates cause thats how I like to eat and everything looked great coming out. Chicken souvlaki was so good. Our server also got us to try a Greek wine I never wouldve picked and it was a great call. One thing though, the service kinda dragged near the end. Food came out at a fine pace but once we finished we sorta got forgotten, sat there a while waiting on the check and had to wave someone down. Not rude, just slow, and it pulled me out of the moment a little. Still a yes from me though. Food and the setting alone are enough to bring me back, just hoping for quicker service next time.

Avli is a great choice when you're craving Greek food! I had the chicken gyro and really enjoyed it. I removed the tomato, but the tzatziki and onion tasted great together. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and filling. The atmosphere is beautiful and feels a little more elevated while still being relaxed. I'd definitely come back and try more of the menu.

This place brings a lively, upbeat energy to downtown without the crazy Michigan Avenue crowds. My friend, my partner, and I came here to celebrate my graduation ceremony, and it was perfect. The space looked incredible with floor-to-ceiling windows, and we loved enjoying Chicago's beauty. Service was absolutely great. Our server hooked us up with the perfect seat and helped us select the right appetizers to kick off the night. The Greek platter and the Avli chips (super crispy zucchini and eggplant with tzatziki) were outstanding. We also really enjoyed their drinks, as they have an exceptional collection of both wines and mocktails that made the celebration feel extra special.

You really cannot best their lunch special with 3 dishes for $30. I had the Greek salad, shrimp, and hummus. Everything was fresh and flavorful and we left stuffed.

Came here on my own after walking along the lake. Overlooks a small park with lots of dogs such a peaceful view. Inside is spacious with a bar and tables. Enjoyed great service. Minus one star for a very loud table with a guest that was cursing loudly maybe tipsy from early happy hour. The hostess gave me a look of solidarity as I walked past to go to the bathroom but really they should've asked them to keep it down. The food and wine were delicious and fresh especially the salad. It was a lovely place to have a solo early dinner.

Spread platter was filling and delicious and loved the nonalcoholic drink options. Tucked away in the busy streets of downtown Chicago with a lovely outdoor patio.

his was dinner reservations before a performance at the Harris Theatre. I found this place from recommended restaurants listing on Harris theater website. The customer service was great. We were greeted by the restaurant manager, hostess and waitress. The table was nice and chic. We seated by the window. Great views Chicago loop high rises and seen nature at its beautiful element. The geek Salad was fresh , large portions of vegetables. Humus and pita bread were spicy and addictive. Soup with basil OMG. Caliarmri were breaded just right. The drinks : tropical margaritas and Chardonnay were very good and generous.

The staff was helpful and friendly and very patient with our group of 10. This is a beautiful restaurant great ambiance they have private rooms to reserve for groups or special occasions. The menu lit up was cool, the food was delicious I especially like the beet salad and lamb shank, the risotto was a bit bland but overall decent, but definitely need more flavor especially pairing with the amazing lamb. It looked like the parking was closed so that was inconvenient but would definitely recommend coming again.

Such a beautiful space. The space alone, with light colors and walls of windows, makes it easy to like this restaurant. The elevated Greek food did not disappoint. We really enjoyed the tzatziki and pita and the fried eggplant and zucchini appetizers. Amanites pasta was a standout vegetarian option, while the lambchops were perfectly prepared. Among the spirit-free cocktails, the Eros and Ice was nice, but a little sweet for me. I ended up trading with another member of our party who had ordered the Mythic, which was one of the best spirit-free cocktails I've ever had. We were both delighted with the trade. Prompt and friendly service made this a terrific dinner. Looking forward to going back in the winter to see the views of the snow in the park.

This place was some of the best Greek food I've EVER had, I forgot to take a picture of the chicken fourno, but everything from the presentation of each appetizer (especially the flaming saganaki) to the taste and mixture of all of the flavors pairing in each dish, amazing. It is a bit pricier, but not unreasonable whatsoever, will absolutely be stopping here again the next time I'm in Chicago.

Such a delightful meal. Fresh, light tapas styles Greek food, with a cute atheistic perfect for an intimate gathering. The server was super friendly and helpful in guiding us through the menu. I'm definitely going back!

6/25: They HH menu was pretty nice. Personally i like a spritz so im happy they had that on the menu. Was pleasantly surprised by the zucchini chips which were just the right amount of fried and loved the deal for pita and dips. Overall a good experience, but wouldn't be able to tell you how good a meal would be here

The moment I stepped inside, I felt like I had been transported to a small Greek taverna. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and our server was incredibly friendly and welcoming. One of the highlights for me was being able to order and converse in Greek, it made the experience feel that much more authentic and special. Of course, I couldn't decide on just one dish, so I had to order a little bit of everything. Why not? The saganaki was absolutely delicious and is definitely a must-try. The avgolemono was decent and comforting, though it wasn't quite as memorable for me. The pastitsio was a bit of a mix. The flavor was delicious and packed with that classic Greek comfort-food goodness, but unfortunately, the béchamel was overcooked and had become too firm. Overall, between the friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and flavorful food, I had a very good experience at Greek Islands. There are still plenty of classic dishes I'd like to try, so I wouldn't hesitate to come back the next time I'm in Chicago.

Dresscode: Smart Casual / Casual Noise Level: Medium (it gets buzzy after 5:30pm) Thursday night Happy Hour was lively, so it took about 10-15 minutes for someone to come around, but service was attentive once we got going. The food is where Ēma really shines. From the Happy Hour menu, the Charred Eggplant Hummus and Crispy Potatoes were generously portioned and great for sharing. On the main menu, the Indian-Mediterranean fusion Bhel Hummus was a party for my taste buds, while the Hot Honey Halloumi and Chicken Kefta rounded out the table nicely. The halloumi is more of a side than a main, but that sweet-and-salty hot honey combo was chef's kiss. For our finisher, the Chocolate Torte knocked us out. Decadent, delicious and chocolate with lots of depth. Overall, Ēma is an excellent spot to order a bunch of dishes for the table and get an elevated meal without feeling stuffy, and delicious without taking itself too seriously. I ordered Prawns Saganaki and side of pita bread. Asked for no oil nor salt for the pita. While it was shown on the lunch menu on their website, the Prawns Saganaki was actually not on the lunch menu. Luckily, the kitchen has prepared it (for dinner) so I was able to try it. In total 4 pc of big shrimp, served with tomato sauce, crumbled feta and cherry tomatoes. The feta was so finely crumbled that it could easily "melt" in the sauce. The cherry tomatoes added more juiciness to it. Overall great, and definitely paired well with the pita. What made me disappointed, if not annoyed, was the check-in. I waited for nearly 6 min until someone finally noticed me. The staff said she would come "just a minute". At that time a woman (white) went into the restaurant and sat at the bar. Then she started to greet her, and discussed the menu with her, and even took the order! Looked like she completely forgot my presence. Possibly some discrimination/racism idk. i would have left if the restaurant did not charge a no-show fee for reservation. Luckily they took off the pita from my bill after I complained about the waiting time (I did not say about discrimination because I am not sure about it).

It's pretty cool that although the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol, staff from the adjacent bar came around every so often and took orders. For appetizers, we started with the feta and olive appetizers. They were good, but I'd probably order something a little more unique next time. I opted for the chicken kalamata dinner for the main event, which came with more french bread and a salad. The salad came out first, and it was pretty simple with minimal dressing. I wished there had been more variety in produce and something besides iceberg lettuce for greens. I'd recommend getting some feta on the side to add some flavor. The chicken, however, was absolutely outstanding. It was super tender, seasoned beautifully with za'atar, and brined in vinegar (I think). The za'atar seasoned french fries underneath were extra crispy and perfectly soaked up the extra sauce from the chicken. For the price, this place is a steal- you really can't beat the quantity and quality of food that you get. Overall, a great experience- I definitely recommend making a stop if you're in the area!
