Felt like I was back in Greece!! Had lunch as part of a tour of Chicago Greek Town. Servers were ready for us and couldn't have been more accommodating. Our menu included appetizers, salad, sides, 4 entrees desserts and drinks. Had this experience in Greece and was just as amazed at the quality and wonderful homemade deliciousness. Could not pass up any of the tremendous quantity! Lots of Greek decor to set the mood.

This place has a more family vibe and not as fancy, so it was nice to go here casually and get some good Greek food. The cold hummus sampler was great to try some different flavors, and the standout was the grilled octopus. So delicious! The gyro plate was good but it felt like it was missing something, and the spanikopita was also tasty but not crispy.

Although it could be argued, this is what a real Greek salad looks like...Horiatiki.

LOCATION: After getting off the train at Chicago Union Station, I walked a couple blocks west and found myself at the Greek Islands Restaurant...actually, I intended to come here. But, I did walk from the (gorgeous, by the way) train station. Very convenient! SERVICE: When I arrived, TGIR had just opened for lunch, so there were very few tables taken. It was a Saturday, but it filled up quickly. The service was fast, friendly, and accurate. FOOD: Dude, I've been eating here for at least 15 years. If the food here wasn't excellent, I wouldn't have been doing this. After all these years, Greek Islands Restaurant still rates five stars!!!

Amazing! I forgot to take pictures of the meals because we were so hungry, but we ordered a variety of dishes, including appetizers and full meals, to share and enjoy every flavor. The food was truly delicious. Service was quick and friendly, and since our group mostly spoke Spanish, the staff was able to assist us comfortably. The place is super cute! I recommend you give it a visit.

A very cool, authentic Greek dining experience! It's always fun to be a tourist in your own city and if you go to Greektown, stopping by Greek Islands Restaurant is a MUST. Outstanding service and a solid variety on the menu. Huge portions for a decent price.

Went with my parents. We've been coming to Greek town restaurants and the Greek islands for many years. Over the recent years I've seen restaurants struggle and lose their edge with food and or service. This is NOT the case here. The food and service were 10/10. FANFRIKENSTASTIC! Food was top notch. Quality, portions and preparation. The lamb was lean yet moist and super flavorful. Do not miss the lamb. The moussaka was delicate yet substantial and packed with flavor. We also had beets with skordalia and avgolemono soup...all fantastic. We had galaktoboureko for desert and it was the best I've had that I can remember. 10/10. Service was warm, personal, professional and just impeccable. The people who sat us were warm and kind. Our waiter and wait staff were just stellar. They made you feel more than welcone10/10 Ambiance was very clean and very Mediterranean. Seating was comfortable. White linen service. We sat close to the fireplace to keep mom and dad warm. This place deserves your attention and a visit. I'll be back...

Came here for my dad's birthday and I hate to say it but this meal is one I honestly didn't really like. Most of our dishes either lacked in flavor or were WAY too salty. The only decent things were the salad and the spanakopita. The atmosphere was our favorite either, I felt like I was in a cafeteria and eating cafeteria food. It was very loud and hot. I will say that the service was kind and attentive, and there is valet parking, which was a plus.

Spectacular!! Soooo full... Cold Tuesday night and a great crowd! Compliments to Juan for the expert recommendations and the service...everything was perfect! Had the pastichio as an app (that was the first "mistake") and the pork riblets (2nd) as my entree. I was stuffed after the pasticho!! My date had the levraki and Horta and loved it all. Good times on a great old school Greek place!

Been here a few times and it always hits the spot. The family style meal is so fun with friends and definitely worth it for the price. You get so much food and time to just eat slowly and catch up.

Been here before and sat outside and loved it! This time we were seated inside and it was a very strange experience. My bf and I came in on a Friday night and were seated right next to a large birthday party of around 30 ppl. They were making speeches/had a saxophone player. We felt like we couldn't talk or we would be interrupting. I don't think we had a specific waitress, took a bit to get a hold of someone. The hummus and pita was my favorite! Very good, the pita was warm! The calamari was okay. We got the lamb for dinner, I didn't love it. The whole vibe was really odd. I wouldn't recommend for a small group.

This place is gorgeous and the staff is so kind. The atmosphere is very lively and can get loud sometimes with the amount of people around. The food itself was a bit mid from what I was expecting. The gyros were normal gyros but nothing too striking. The other dishes lacked a bit of oomf in their flavor as well. They have a wide menu though, so I'd be curious to come back and try it again

Absolutely love this place. Just another amazing meal and night at Greek Islands. The saganaki and the Braised Lamb are second to none. The Gyro appetizer is amazing. And the Roditis is the icing on the cake.

We also got the souvlaki and dip trio; the spicy feta was the star, the eggplant was okay, and the potato/fish roe was not for me personally. That was a show & highlight every time. I believe now they torch in kitchen and bring to your table. I miss that experience, perhaps a thing of the past. I can only speculate a plate of flaming saganaki met a litigious human at some point along the line in the Greek food world, ending an era. Alas, I Look forward to returning.

The 1st that plans ahead and gets to places early. And the 2nd that is there for a good time but always gets everywhere late. Those of us that wanted to come early and not worry decided that we wanted to go to a restaurant close by to wait for our tour time and that's how we found Ema. As soon as we walk inside we see how beautiful and modern the interior looks. They had a lot of seating available and we got a nice table by the window with a view We wanted to eat light before the tour so we shared a bunch of small plates. We ordered the mushroom escargot, lemon Caesar, crispy potatoes, a couple orders of hummus and some chicken kebabs. That mushroom escargot was one of my favorite things I ate during the entire Chicago trip. The mushrooms were creamy and rich. It tasted umami, bright from the lemon, slightly spicy from the Calabrian breadcrumbs, and paired perfectly with some warm pita bread on the side. The hummus was smooth and well seasoned. The lemon caesar was fresh and fairly standard. The crispy potatoes were perfectly textured and were soft and pillowy on the inside. As long as they sat on the table they never lost their crisp. The chicken kebabs were tenderly, juicy and garlicky. We were all putting together our perfect bite combinations with the pita bread. Everything we ordered I would actually order again. Though may want to try a different salad next time since the Caesar was pretty simple. Regardless, still no real complaints with the food Our server was charismatic and funny. He had a great attitude and entertained us throughout the meal. Everything came out promptly as well so we made it out and could take our time walking to the riverboats. Lucky for our friends the tour said they'd be docked for a few minutes after our scheduled start time to set everything up. As 3 minutes after our start time we see group 2 sprinting up from a couple blocks away Overall Ema was consistent, flavorful and reliable. Not a bad price point either for what you get. I'd definitely recommend and come back

I ordered Prawns Saganaki and side of pita bread. Asked for no oil nor salt for the pita. While it was shown on the lunch menu on their website, the Prawns Saganaki was actually not on the lunch menu. Luckily, the kitchen has prepared it (for dinner) so I was able to try it. In total 4 pc of big shrimp, served with tomato sauce, crumbled feta and cherry tomatoes. The feta was so finely crumbled that it could easily "melt" in the sauce. The cherry tomatoes added more juiciness to it. Overall great, and definitely paired well with the pita. What made me disappointed, if not annoyed, was the check-in. I waited for nearly 6 min until someone finally noticed me. The staff said she would come "just a minute". At that time a woman (white) went into the restaurant and sat at the bar. Then she started to greet her, and discussed the menu with her, and even took the order! Looked like she completely forgot my presence. Possibly some discrimination/racism idk. i would have left if the restaurant did not charge a no-show fee for reservation. Luckily they took off the pita from my bill after I complained about the waiting time (I did not say about discrimination because I am not sure about it).

It's pretty cool that although the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol, staff from the adjacent bar came around every so often and took orders. For appetizers, we started with the feta and olive appetizers. They were good, but I'd probably order something a little more unique next time. I opted for the chicken kalamata dinner for the main event, which came with more french bread and a salad. The salad came out first, and it was pretty simple with minimal dressing. I wished there had been more variety in produce and something besides iceberg lettuce for greens. I'd recommend getting some feta on the side to add some flavor. The chicken, however, was absolutely outstanding. It was super tender, seasoned beautifully with za'atar, and brined in vinegar (I think). The za'atar seasoned french fries underneath were extra crispy and perfectly soaked up the extra sauce from the chicken. For the price, this place is a steal- you really can't beat the quantity and quality of food that you get. Overall, a great experience- I definitely recommend making a stop if you're in the area!
