Ended up with a cafe mocha and just a black coffee. The coffee was tasty, but more importantly, HOT! Even after my 10 minute drive home it was still HOT! I was debating over which baked goods to get in the case when I found a few premade boxes already prepared, so I grabbed two of those for an office meeting this morning. (Note I'm not in any way bad mouthing the owner and his wife. It's an idea he has long visioned to bring to life) however. The pistachio and raspberry scone was large and dry. I know they said that they are traveled overseas tasting patisseries and I'm wondering if they're going for a more European biscuit type scone than a cream scone, which is more tender and less dry. There were no pistachios on it. I did not care for it. Next, I got the coffee cake when you make a coffee cake that big it takes forever to bake so again it turns out dry due to the extended baking tomes, lastly I got the strawberry cream croissant, which looked very pretty. I believe they were fraise de bois on top; the dough itself, unproofed, and heavy. I would like to have seen some custard on the inside with the chantilly cream on top, but it just fell short but had potential. It was an odd set up with the pastry station right being the front counter and I noticed that most of the girls working were slow due to watching the customers come in. Very distracting. This was my first time here and I will give it another shot but after they are open a bit longer. I wish them well. This again, this is one persons constructive criticism. Their menu felt quite large that morning (perhaps I wasn't awake enough yet, hence the coffee) but I opted for one of their specialty lattes, the s'mores one. It always feels like a bit of a hit or miss getting a specialty latte that looks quite sweet based on the description - I love fun sweet lattes but I dislike when they're overly sweet and taste syrup-y (high maintenance, I know). Thankfully this was lovely! Yes it was sweet but I could actually taste the coffee. I got a 16 oz to go as I don't think they did smaller sizes. Overall lovely coffee and it's just a shame I couldn't stay to try out their food menu. No photo of my coffee as it's a to-go cup...I never find those very useful unless the cup is fun.
