Chicken, salad and rice and beans for something like $5. did i mention the chicken is some of the most flavorful and delicious you will ever have in your life?! do not forget to ask for chimichurri sauce if they neglect to bring you some! now, mix it with your rice and beans and spoon it into your mouth with a piece of chicken= savory heaven. I have been to Brasa Roja before and liked it. I just ordered it from Postmates... the food delivered was NOT anything I remembered when I dined there. The chicken was flavorful but too dry and too much garlic (even though yes I ordered the garlic chicken). I ordered a side of sweet plantains. FYI in order for plantains to taste sweet they must be ripe. They clearly didn't use a ripe enough plantain. The rice was decent what I expected. The empanadas were ok as well... mine was delivered cold but I don't blame that on the restaurant. Not very satisfied :( read more

Great food for a good price. We had the lunch specials for $5.95 each- a carne asada and rotisserie chicken. Plus I got a coffee & my bf got fries - fries weren't that great in my opinion since I tasted more oil , but I should've salted it before it entered my mouth. My bf was there once before - the same week we went - and we would go again still. I thought Colombian food was great because I experienced dining in at Las tablas Colombian steak house i had a fantastic experience at the Lincoln location the Irving location had great food but the service wasn't as good well to sum it up Brasa Roja sucks the meat is cheap. Brasa Roja only has one sever she is slow, and rude. Outside and inside it isn't decorated well. I wont be coming to La Brasa Roja anymore. read more

The first thing you'll notice is that you can smell this place before you can even see it. The heavenly scent stretches down the street, tickles my nose and lifts me off of my feet like in an old Looney Tunes cartoon. Once you're inside, note their crazy setup. They have an actual charcoal grill inside spinning an impressive number of Chickens. I've never counted, but I'd guess 50-75 at a time. As other reviewers have noted, this place is all about the chicken. Their 1/4 Chicken Lunch Special is absolutely perfect in every way. DELICIOUS chicken, tasty beans and rice and a small salad for under $5.00! Also, their meat pies (empanadas) are great. I recommend adding a couple to your order. The only thing I don't love about this place are the sides you get with the Chicken Dinner Specials. The plantains are okay, the whole potatoes are underwhelming and the corn cake is a tasteless rubber puck, gross. When my family gets dinner there, we simply order a la carte. We get a whole chicken, a side of rice and a side of beans. My wife and son and I always have more than enough to eat this way. read more

Food is good but very poor customer service. I asked the waitress for limes for my empanadas (which they served with anyways) and she rolled her eyes and made a face because she was going to have to go to the fridge for limes since the bowl on the counter where they normally have limes was empty. I understand she was going to take extra steps to the fridge but as a paying customer I should get my meal the way it normally is served. read more

Would have given them 4 stars except for 2 things: #1 sometimes when I call for carry-out, the person on the phone can't understand my order (no English) so I'll say "hold on" and put on my husband who knows Spanish. He will start to order in Spanish and after about two words, the order-taker miraculously remembers that they *do* in fact understand English. WTF? #2 we always pay with credit card and twice now the charge that shows up on our bill is $5 or so more than the actual tab. giving themselves a little extra tip? Food is hot and so is this restaurant! The chicken is roasted in the same room as where you are seated. It may have been 80-85 degrees in there. The air was on, but not working properly as evidenced by the very leaky air conditioner units. Food was hot & fresh. I would have preferred more seasonings in everything. A little bland. Picked up some carry-out. Service was friendly and efficient. I was directed by the grill master up front to place my order with a server in the back. La Brasa Roja is located is on the north side of Chicago. Street parking shouldn't be much of a problem because most of the immediate area is made up of small businesses and homes. Sitting smack dab on the corner, the place is hard to miss. Although aesthetically you may not be wowed, you will be by the food. The prices are more than fair considering their sizes and portions and that makes it a great deal. Perhaps the only real quirk that I have is that the menu is in Spanish. So this can make it a bit difficult to navigate around it if you don't read Spanish. But overall La Brasa Roja is simple, cheap, and delicious, what more could one want? read more
