We start with an order of tostones (crispy fried plantains) with chimchurri (parsley, oregano, garlic, olive oil) sauce and move on to the whole roasted chicken dinner, which comes with two potatoes, arepa (cornmeal bread) and a sweet plantain. This is a great place you never will get wrong from one of their specials and is absolute delicious their food. Rest maybe will need some improve decoration wise soon but for the rest great food, good prices and nice staff. I recommend bandeja paisa and both of the 5 dollars special are awesome (steak or rotisserie chicken). read more

I would give this a -5 star rating if I could to be honest! I have been eating at this restaurant for over 15 years and this is the first time I have had such a terrible experience! I came here to celebrate my anniversary and it was so disappointing for us!! I don't know if its because they changed The Chef but the food was an utter disappointment!!! To Start Off The Waiter (Nestor) Barely paid any attention to us and although it started to get busy after a while we were one of the first to get there and he was serving us LAST Every time!! He would ignore us, we asked for napkins and more salsa and he would bring it 30 minutes later!!!!! We asked for 3 plates of the same Food & I Specifically Asked for them to be WELL DONE! Well turns out ALL OF OUR PLATES came raw and red when we cut through it, we sent the plates back and they cooked the SAME PIECE OF STEAK To the point where they BURNT IT and they took the pieces we had cut off out of the plate!!! And only a small piece of steak came back instead of the whole piece I originally sent to them!!! Yet We got charged for the full steak when they should have actually MADE US A WHOLE NEW PLATE WITH NEW STEAK AND NOT KEEP COOKING THE ONE THAT WE SENT BACK TO THEM!!! AND THEN BURN IT!!! Aside from that the Yuca And Platano Were Both BURNT disgustingly also!! It hurt our teeth and killed every appetite we had!!! We constantly had to ask the waitresses for things because our waiter was waiting on everyone else BUT Us including people who had just gotten their! Walked by us a million times and ignored us every time!! This was such a disappointing experience!!! He restaurant needs to do something about the new cook because every time i came here it was perfectly cooked and amazing customer service! So far La Brasa Roja is our favorite roast chicken in the city and this location is the best of the LBR's. Stop in with $15 in hand and you can walk out with the best marinaded roasted chicken with sides (roasted potatoes and plantains) and grab a couple of empanadas to boot. I guarantee this will be one of the best $15 meals you can get that easily feeds a family of 3 to 4. Yes, you can eat here, but the few minutes of rest the chicken gets on the ride home only enriches the flavor of the meat. read more

The ~$11 whole chicken is to die for, probably the best I've ever had. Getting carry-out is a bit odd, since you have to pay the waiter in the back where the register is and take the receipt up to the cook in the front to get your food; be sure to call ahead for takeout since they can be a little slow at times. read more

My husband and I went to La Brasa Roja tonight for dinner. Super yum! We shared a whole chicken (with potato, plantain and yucca) and got a side of rice. The rice might not look like anything special but it's really good. The place is lacking in ambiance but the food more than makes up for it. Probably the best chicken I've ever had. And the empanadas were awesome!! I also really liked the passion fruit drink (with water). This might be our new weekly cheap dinner restaurant! read more

Went after my son's soccer game on a Monday night around 8:30. Service was ok but the food was less than tasty. I had the lamb, which was like shoe leather and had no flavor. My hubby ordered the 1/2 chicken which was very dry with no seasoning whatsoever. My son ordered the strip steak, which he asked to be cooked medium rare. It came as a medium, floating in a puddle of oil. I've had Columbian food before and it has been delicious. This, was anything but. A waste of $50. read more

We had their speciality -- the whole roasted Chicken. It was certainly tasty, and came with sides of potatoes, potato cake, and plantain. It's still BYOB. They have other BBQ roasted meats available, but would prefer to eat at their sister restaurant El Llano for that (see my review of El Llano). Only criticism is that if you eat in as we did, the pre-cut chicken pieces tend to be a little overdone (and perhaps a little dry) because they re-heat them in the BBQ before serving. Earlier this evening, I walked in and saw the fire, smelled the melting chicken....I was hooked. The rotisserie is very impressive, charcoal fire...columbian bbq at it's finest. Chicken was fantastic, got 2 whole chickens with plantains and Columbian cornbread for around 22 bucks. Chicken was juicy and full-o-flava. Brasa Roja has a fairly large menu, so my 5-star review is based on just a few dishes -- the whole roasted chicken and the steak. Sweet and simple: that is one tasty bird. Inexpensive, comes with nice sides, and the green sauce they provide is delicious. This is the only Colombian-style chicken place I go to anymore. Great stuff. read more
