My favorite is the strawberry matcha it tastes like creamy strawberry milk blended with matcha, and it's so good. The staff are incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. The service is top-notch, and everyone always makes you feel welcome. They also have both indoor seating and a lovely outdoor patio. The atmosphere is relaxing, and the overall vibe is just perfect. Great study/working space with a tough parking situation! I had their caramelized banana milk latte and it was AMAZING! I had to come back and try their mint cold brew since it reminds me of Philz. Personally, it could be a bit sweeter but it's fine if you don't like lattes too sweet. I tried their warmed baguette and honestly the butter paired with the seasonal jam is a great pairing. I'm glad I also got to try their chia seed pudding. It definitely gave me the good fiber boost and the granola has a little mixture of sweet and salty if you're into that. I really enjoy the ambience here. It's a large, spacious café with comfortable booth seating and both indoor and outdoor options. The service was good as well. I ordered the mint cold brew with muddled mint. The coffee itself was excellent, but the drink was disappointing in terms of the mint component. There was very little mint, so it didn't really come across as a true muddled mint beverage. The flavor was still pleasant, just not as mint-forward as expected. I came back on Sunday morning and there was a line out the door. Expect a wait time of about 15-20 minutes if you're coming on the weekend. Don't worry because there's plenty of seating! Just be patient. The staff was friendly and very attentive. I appreciate that they offered menus and samples of their blueberry muffin while waiting in line. They were hustling! I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was delicious. Definitely a 10/10 and the salsa on the side was perfect. For my beverage, I went with a MudWtr latte. It's made with lion's mane, Chaga, reishi, chai spices, black tea, cocoa, maple, vanilla + steamed milk. This drink is cozy, earthy, and is giving elevated energy without the jitters. I was over the moon to hear Brass Bird was opening in Santa Barbara. Their carpinteria location is always a favorite of my family. There is a parking lot but fills quickly. Thankfully there is street parking all around. Despite the outside appearance there is a ton of seating inside and outside. The coffee drinks are fantastic! My vanilla oat latte was perfection as usual. The quiche is flavorful and comes with a small side salad. My boys inhaled their almond croissants. Came in when they closed but they still allowed us to order cold brews and some pastries. I've tried the lucky llama in carpinteria but have never tried brass bird. I will say I am liking brass birds coffee better than lucky llama. Initially the cold brew had a slight almond, toffee and hint of coco note and also had a smoothness to it. The brown butter chocolate chip cookie was good, but they had some salt on it which I didn't like. But the cookie did taste good, it was also soft and chewy. To me the croissant was okay, but the wife seemed the like it. Next time I want to order the minted cold brew, because I'm curious if it's going to taste similar to Philz coffee. read more

Everything I look for in a cinnamon roll omg. Perfectly sweet with cream cheese frosting, moist inside but not drenched. It was delicious. Following up on my paid-refill complaint, I've been asking to have my coffee delivered with my meal so it wouldn't cool down too much while I'm waiting. Staff's response: "Of Course". We've been regulars at Renaud's for over 15 years, but only once a week now that BB is nearby. While there on Saturday, we noticed how user-friendly the furniture is. Tables are large-enough, & easily shifted around if needed. Renaud's, on the other hand, has ultra-heavy, too-small tables with feet that are very awkward to deal with in their tight spaces. What I'm sorry to say is that, except for the excellent staff & above-average meal choices, if Renaud's closed tomorrow it wouldn't matter much. read more

The service and ambience were great. The problems were behind the kitchen door. My "soft-scrambled eggs with herbs and sourdough toast" (as listed on the menu) were disappointments. The eggs were hammered, and the bread was not toasted. It had been brushed with a little oil and briefly heated on the grill, meaning that when it got to me it was stiff on the outside and cold and very chewy on the inside. Denied service AFTER waiting in line to order because we had a dog. "No dogs allowed inside." The tables are outside on the patio, register to order is indoors. Cashier wouldn't even take our to-go orders. I'd been here a few days ago, meeting a white female friend. She's been taking her puppy regularly, no problems with her ordering even tho she literally has a dog on her. Have to assume it's discrimination against my Asian male friend or myself. The place is cute and the food looks good but I feel like I need to warn people this is one of the worst matchas I've ever had. It tastes like the sweetened matcha powder you can get at Trader Joe's. It's just not worth it for the price, especially when Handlebar is within walking distance and much better quality. I would go back and try some of their other offerings but definitely would never choose the matcha again unless they change their supplier. Sorry!! read more

This place just opened up this week and we had to see what the hype was about. The ambiance and decor was great, and the place was absolutely packed (Saturday morning brunch places usually are). We ordered the two breakfast items pictured and an iced oat vanilla late. The breakfast focaccia was amazing and the breakfast sandwich was good (and very large). The coffee is also great, different vanilla flavor than the other coffee shops on De La Vina. It's been nice having a new coffee shop in the San Roque neighborhood, but I can't seem to get myself to be a repeat customer. The woman who I'm assuming is the manager has a very bad attitude. I witnessed her be blatantly rude to customers by rolling eyes, audibly sighing, and pushing through people that seem to be "in her way" and if asked a question she seems to not want to engage and ignore. Very unprofessional. Unfortunately as I've waited a long amount of time for my order, I unfortunately saw the same attitude from those working the espresso bar. I recently asked how much longer for my drink, as I waited 20 minutes for an iced latte, and was met with being ignored then told "... it'll be out soon". No eye contact, or anything professional, just ignored and talked to as if I was an inconvenience... mind you I was waiting over 20 minutes for a drink. Sadly seems like I wasn't the only paying customer who was met with the same attitude. I want to support this place as the coffee is okay, but the overall vibe of the employees is so off that I'd much rather support other locally owned shops that have the professionalism you'd expect when paying for goods and services. read more

I stopped in with my dog to kill time while Santa Barbara Auto Stereo up the street worked on the backup camera in my camper. I got the avocado toast with a cup of decaf. The avocado toast was outstanding! The decaf was good enough too. But great toast! The outdoor patio was comfortable and inviting and the service was excellent.
