First time at Jeannine's. The line looked short from the outside but that was just the first of three lines. The second line parks you in front of tourist items for purchase and then the third line is at the counter where you order. Because the two inside lines weren't visible from the outside the wait was longer than expected which made it extra disappointing when I found out they didn't have the soup on the menu or any soup. I got the taco salad and was handed a very ordinary ice tea in a plastic disposable 10oz cup that was mostly ice, there would be no refills and I regrettably pre tipped. Pretty expensive but I don't mind if the food is good. I was given a number and told to go find a seat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Because they use every square inch for seating they had some uncovered seats that were in the hot sun, these were the only ones open so I sat in the hot sun with no shade.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] About a twenty minute wait for my taco salad. I wouldn't normally write a review over a taco salad but this one was so bad and so overpriced I thought it deserved one. It was basically a grocery store salad mix with a scoop of ground beef and a quarter of an avocado on top in a greasy flour tortilla bowl. I couldn't tell if the beef was good or not because it was drowned in what tasted like a sweet thousand island dressing. My buddy was eggcited to eat his sandwich. All the sandwich dishes were delicious. The French toast was drowning in syrup! If you order it ask for the syrup on the side or you'll get diabetes. The sides that came with it was coleslaw and it was ok. Nothing great. The service, so you have to order at the register first, then you choose your tables, then they bring out your food. Wow, what a vibe! This sun-kissed spot is directly across the street from the ocean. The line was a bit long but it was a Saturday morning and all the folks were out! The best thing is the line moved so fast, we may have waited 15 minutes. The front of the restaurant is decorated so cute that gave us plenty of time for a mini photo shoot while reviewing the menu. We came here early morning on Mother's Day. The process was to get in line, check in, get in another line to order your food, and then go find a table once you did. There was plenty of seating in the restaurant. We got here pretty early I want to say around 7:30am opening. After ordering and finding our seat outside, we didn't wait too long for our food. There isn't table service but there were localized water stations in each section of the restaurant. I also think enough people come around where it works out okay! We ordered: salmon eggs Benedict, banana French toast, and the special they had for lobster eggs Benedict. We thought this was one of the best breakfasts we ever had! Such a great breakfast spot! The location is superior, right off Stearns Warf and a couple short blocks away from the shops downtown. My parents were in town so I had to take them to visit Santa Barbara's beautiful coastline. I was looking for some laid back places for brunch and stumbled upon Jeanine's. Jeanine's has a super beautiful indoor and outdoor interior. I especially love their specials outdoor seating areas with salmon colored umbrellas. It was just so beautiful and serene. Once you get to Jeanine's the host gives you menus and shows you to the counter where you order and pay and get a number. Then you pick your table and someone comes and drops off your food order. It was very quick and easy and because it was a Monday, around 1 pm, there was no line. We ordered the huevos rancheros, the breakfast quesadilla and the breakfast burrito. Everything was delicious and a good portion size. I'd highly recommend checking this place out. I can't wait to come back and try some of their other dishes! read more

I've been to Jeanine's bakery many times over the past decade but this is my first review. My wife and I went on a Summer Monday morning and the line was about 20 minutes to get to the ordering counter. As you are ordering, they are making your coffee drinks in real-time (mocha / latte) so when you pay they give you your drinks and number. The baked goods are always great (many scones, muffins, etc.) which I always get to go. My wife got an egg breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel and loved it. My breakfast was more simple, the oatmeal and a side of eggs and I couldn't believe how good it was. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat at a beautiful table outside next to the fountain.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came back through Santa Barbara on the following Saturday morning but the line was twice as long so we went back to our hotel and walked to a different breakfast place. We dined at Jeannine's on a Wednesday morning, it wasn't crowded so there wasn't a long line. Our order included a short stack of pancakes (we asked for no powdered sugar), the peach french toast special, oatmeal, and coffees. The pancakes not only came out covered in powdered sugar but had clearly been made well in advance and simply heated up for service. Quite possibly the worst pancakes we've had served to us at any restaurant. The french toast was served in what can only be described as a peach soup. There was an excessive amount of peach puree in the dish and we weren't really sure what the point of it was. It was a comical amount of the puree. The french toast itself had actually been cooked well but the entire dish was incredibly imbalanced. By the third bite, it was too sweet to enjoy. The oats were fine. The consistency was good, the temperature was good, it was just a bowl of oats. The coffee was shockingly bad. We won't return to Jeannine's. read more

That's how you know it was good. I'll start with the friendly service, because that's what stood out the most to me. When we arrived we were met with a line that stretched down the street. I typically would pass on a restaurant w a line that long, but I'd heard good things and needed to try it for myself. While waiting in the line someone reassured us multiple times that the line was moving quickly and we'd be inside in no time. He handed us menus so we could plan our meal and a server took drink orders while we waited so we could wait, beverage in hand. Everyone we encountered was so kind, and seemed happy to work there. As a restaurant worker myself, that says a lot. The restaurant is beautiful. This may sound weird, but it kind of reminded me of Disneyland. Lol like something you may find in Disneys French quarter. It would be the perfect place for a girls brunch and make for cute photos. We sat on the patio, on a beautiful sunny day around the fountain, right across from the beach. We ordered the tri tip Benedict, challah French toast and tri tip omelette. We enjoyed everything, though my partner thought the tri tip was a bit overcooked. I personally loved the French toast. I thought we wouldn't get a chance to visit Jeannine's on this trip, but when I saw something that said they were famous for their scones, I knew I needed to visit. I'm so glad I did. I made it there about a half hour before closing and there was still a line waiting to get in! Someone came out to offer drinks to the people who were waiting and he showed us where to go since we were just getting scones to go. I ordered a strawberry scone and I wish I had ordered more. It was the best scone I've ever had. It was moist and full of strawberry flavor. SO SO GOOD!!! Next time we're in Santa Barbara, we're going to try to sit down for breakfast. Even through its right in the heart of tourist attractions, ie the pier. It's a place that needs to be visited. A cute cafe, restaurant that's full of charm. We stopped in for breakfast before heading up to wine country. Normally when I'm in town, it's alway the weekend and the line here are crazy. This visit, mid week which wasn't that bad. But it did pick up after we arrived. Still a little wait but nothing crazy as weekend traffic. They had the seasonal decoration out front for autumn with haystacks, and floral archway. Right when you walk in, there's the counter with fresh baked pastries. Also gift items on display. It seems more of a cafe but I'm not sure if you could order food there. To the left, theres another room which is the main room for ordering. Theres menu as well as QR code. You have to order at the counter and then find a seat. There's a nice displays of Veuve Clicquot as well as Whispering Angle Rose. The counter, same with all the amazing fresh baked pastries and cookies. The table with all the gifts and souvenirs also had individually wrapped cookies as well. Behind the register, the bar area where drinks are prepared. Since it was breakfast, some bloody Mary's to start was nice. Also, menu wise had loads of amazing dishes to choose from. After ordering a number is given which you place on your table. The main patio area has loads of patio umbrellas which gives out key west vibes, in my opinion. A water fountain right in the middle as the beach and pier right outside. Tables do fill up fast. Drinks were given to us right after ordering. Food wise, a mixture of everything. We went with the French toast with eggs and bacon. Topped with fresh berries and powdered sugar. Smoked salmon Benedict with hash browns. Lox plate with everything bagel and all the toppings and the California omelette with added ham served with hash browns and a fresh biscuit. Food was excellent. Everything was tasty with each bite. The biscuits was delicious and perfect with jam and butter. Everything was well enjoyed and finished. Both drinks and food were highly recommended. To finish off, also picked up some scones. You didn't need any butter or jam as it was perfectly flakey and moist. The food was excellent. Even though it was mid week, a line did form while we were in it. Seemed to be a lot of the locals with tourist scatted around. A major hot spot in Santa Barbara that's not to be missed. Inside, the décor is just as adorable, whimsical butter dishes on the tables, pink Himalayan salt shakers, seasonal decorations... everything feels thoughtful, cozy, and welcoming. One thing that makes Jeannine's unique is their style of service: they don't take reservations. When you arrive, you simply wait for a table to open up, head to the counter to order, and then the staff seats you. They also have a separate counter if you want to grab takeout instead. Jeannine's bakery is the BEST breakfast/brunch spot we've had! This is due to the food, service, and environment. I'll break my review down by each category. Service: While we waited in line outside, Lalo, walked up to all of us offering menus for those of us that didn't have any yet. He was very friendly, energetic and joyful with all of those around. We were able to ordered and be seated pretty quickly, within 10 minutes of entering the line. I think what's unique about their ordering and seating model is that they have you order your food at the register, pay, then take a seat where you like. In my perspective, this allows for a smoother in and out dining experience as you don't have to wait for a server and your bill. Environment: The inside of the restaurant provides a store like experience and as you wait in line you can shop around for custom merch. The outside of this restaurant provides great seating with views of the beach. Food: Our plates were delicious! We ordered some special plates they were offering that weekend. I don't recall the exact names, but my wife ordered a sort of lobster cake plate, and I ordered a type of huevo rancheros. We would definitely return here again! read more
