Let me start by saying how elegant Brass fish is. It is decorated beautifully to give off a sophisticated atmosphere. The seating upstairs and the individual booths feel very luxurious, while there is more casual high top seating in front of the bar available as well. (Those seats did not feel comfortable though. Lacks cushioning, back support and is awkward to sit around a small table with 4 people and full cutlery) Unfortunately, where they ultimately fell short, was their food. The food was not particularly memorable or unique. I ordered the steak, which was sizeable, but was lukewarm when it arrived. Additionally, they didn't even sub in a different vegetable for my dish because I can't have asparagus. My main entree was lukewarm steak with potatoes and mushrooms. My partner's curry bowl was honestly a bit sad looking as well. The Vietnamese tiramisu didn't really leave much room for thought as it was like any other tiramisu. Come here for the ambiance and maybe a drink. Nothing more

Went to Brass Fish for a group lunch and every item came out quick and perfect. Juicy burger with perfectly crispy fries.

More famous for happy hour/after-work in the downtown. Has a very cool interior, that large whale skeleton! We ordered calamari and seafood risotto, both were tasty. Food: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Ambiance 5/5 | Price: 5/5

The ambiance is pub like with televisions and a gorgeous bar yet it is open and clean. Everyone we encountered at the restaurant was friendly and professional. I ordered the cumin toasted salmon and quinoa bowl with avocado. It had complex flavors and was healthy and delicious. My husband ordered the Chicken Katz i burger with fries. The portion was large. The chicken was crispy with a nice sauce on it. We also ordered the crispy prawn tacos which were outstanding! Th e flavors and combination of ingredients could rival any food competition!!!

The Brass Fish is in a beautiful old building in downtown Vancouver that is currently being renovated, but the restaurant space is seemingly unaffected. We were greeted by a very pleasant hostess, and our server was super friendly and helpful. Our Prawn Tacos appetizer (no picture, sorry) was very tasty with a surprisingly complex combination of flavors. My chicken Katsu burger had a lightly breaded and generously sized chicken breast fillet topped with cabbage and a couple of yummy sauces. SO good! My wife's salmon and quinoa bowl tasted fresh from the dock and was a very healthy and satisfying option. It's so great to be so pleasantly surprised by an unknown restaurant! If we lived here we would return frequently.

Great bar. Many drinks. Great bartender. Service was wonderful and food, tuna melt, buns and dumplings. All great. Modern music played. Not too loud.

Sooo delicious!…read more Butternut squash ravioli with prawns is a must get. It is pretty heavy so would recommend getting it to share. Ravioli has a great slight chew texture, not mushy despite being a butternut squash puree inside, and HUGE juicy prawns on top. Green goddess salad was a nice balance to compliment the ravioli, super fresh ingredients and great ratio with good amount of avocado. The Bellini slush was basically like a peach ring but not sickingly sweet like peach rings and more refreshing like actual fruit. Can't really taste the alcohol in it but could feel it. The calamari was okay, it could be crispier and have more squid/less dough but the flavor with the slight kick and Sichuan flavor is nice. Just not my preference of texture. The wagyu beef carpaccio was fun to eat and assemble but I would say you're paying more for the experience of assembling the perfect little bite because once you put together everything the beef flavor is sort of masked but I do enjoy the slight tang from the greens and pickled veges in contrast to the buttered bread. The cactus burger was a pretty solid big burger with well seasoned mushrooms, not too salty or greasy. Enjoyed the sweet potato fries and the light fry on them. We also sat outside which has heaters so I definitely recommend as it was less noisy and chaotic compared to inside during dinner time. All the employees are very nice too. TLDR: Get the butternut squash ravioli with prawns to share. Get the bellini as a drink. Burger and fries were solid choices that can't miss.

The wait times can be a hit or miss, but I'm happy enjoying a Hugo Spritz and waiting. This one could've been better with warmers being on at the season we were there during, as it was quite busy and windy, so we were outside with several others attempting to share just a few heaters.

This was 6 months ago and I still remember our time here fondly and look forward to returning. We scarfed down the shrimp Provençal and mussels. The Empress Club is a treat for the senses - looks, smells and tastes delicious. The duck poutine is out of this world. You do need to have self-control and patience. Don't dig in right when it is served. Give the fries a chance to soak up the juicy gravy. Trust me, waaaait! It's hands down the best poutine. The cheese is a secret blend. Delectable! The service is top notch. Again, we look forward to returning.

Jam Cafe, Vancouver Jam Cafe is my favorite brunch spot. Anywhere. That sounds like an exaggeration. It isn't. I've been traveling to Vancouver for work for almost a decade, and every single trip includes a stop at Jam. If I'm lucky, two. I've also become that coworker who convinces everyone to meet outside at 7:45 in the morning so we can be part of the first seating at 8:00. Thankfully, we're all from the East Coast and have been awake since 5:00 anyway. Over the years I've successfully JAMfluenced more business travelers than I'd like to admit. And yes, it's still worth the wait even if you're not first in line. The restaurant itself is tiny. Cozy farmhouse vibes, mismatched decorations covering the walls, and maybe 15 tables between the dining room and patio. It feels more like someone's favorite neighborhood breakfast spot than one of Vancouver's brunch institutions. The menu is comfort food turned up to eleven. Everything is indulgent, creative, and somehow still balanced. You can tell the kitchen starts with great ingredients because every component tastes like it could stand on its own. I try to branch out every visit... and then usually end up ordering the Tater Tot Bowl anyway. Crispy tater tots, buffalo sauce, Mexican street corn relish, and ridiculously good pulled pork. It's the kind of dish that sounds like it shouldn't work, but every bite somehow gets better than the last. And then there are the cinnamon roll pancakes. They are enormous. They're also one of the best brunch dishes I've ever eaten. Birdfluencer Lorraine M. declared them the best pancakes she's ever had, and after several visits, I don't have much of an argument. Service is exactly what it needs to be. Friendly, efficient, and quick. The staff knows there's a line forming outside before the doors even open, but you never feel rushed. Overall, Jam Cafe has officially become part of my Vancouver tradition. At this point, a work trip to the city doesn't really start until I've had breakfast here. If you're visiting Vancouver and only have time for one brunch, this would be my pick without a second thought.

And as I soon as I walked in I noticed the portions people were receiving, holy cow! Are we in Texas? I ordered a chai latte and it smelt so good. And tasted even better, best chai I've ever had. It tasted like a cinnamon fall festival in my mouth. Brought me right back to my childhood and all the falls I spent in New England. I also got the huevos rancheros and it was so good. I hardly made a dent in my food though. There was a bit of a wait for the bathrooms. I loved the decor too. Honestly I see the hype for this place, but I believe it's mainly for their HUGE portions. Dont get me wrong the food was delicious! But I don't think waiting in a line is necessary for this place.
