Went back as a party of 7 last week for a team dinner (the Thursday right before #Brussels Lockdown set in). Once again, food was fantastic - tasted great and friendly service. Love that they have menus in English for the non-local language speakers. Of the 7 diners, I was the only one who had been here before, and 2 people who actually lived locally had never heard of this place and were a bit dubious about my choice of making a reservation here for our work team's dinner. But by the end of the meal, all my colleagues was totally wowed and blown away by how good the food was, and everyone was super content. We ordered an entree this time - the potato pancakes and you absolutely have to try these with the accompanying apple sauce! The pancakes were crisply fried, tasted heavenly, but then eating them with the apple sauce took them to another level where it was fried, crispy, sweet, salty and soft - and all these food textures just hit the taste buds with a bang and it's the best kind of party in your mouth - I would totally recommend! For the main, one colleague got the sampler, and polished off every bite, two other people got the Turkey with a red pepper mushroom sauce (15,50 €) and also polished off the whole lot, another colleague got the schnitzel, but I decided to get the Crispy Roast Pork with beer sauce (15,90 €) and for my accompaniment, I also got the Bavarian bread dumpling (3 pieces of deliciousness in each bite). When the food arrived for the rest of the table, the waitress realized she had missed putting in an order for one member of the party, and I liked that she was honest and upfront about her mistake, didn't try to hide it, but apologized and the missing plate was delivered fairly quickly to my colleague afterwards. Despite this small hiccup, everyone was making appreciative noises over their food. I absolutely loved my crispy roast pork - it was so tender and juicy and the beer sauce just complimented the flavors perfectly - would absolutely get this again in a heartbeat. The accompanying bread dumpling soaked up the sauce on my plate and also worked as an ultra satisfying counterbalance to all the richness of the pork and beer. For dessert, two of my colleagues split the Fried Applecake with cinnamon and vanilla ice cream (8,50 €) and there was an audible gasp of surprise after they each took the first bite and then both commented that it was really good, so I might have to get this next time rather than my regular Black Forest cake dessert! Another colleague got the Cup Black Forest with chocolat icecream, vanilla icecream and warm cherries (6,50 €) and it's important to know the difference because this is an ice-cream version of the cake, not the cake itself! So tummies full of comforting, hearty and delicious food, we headed back out into the night. Am so glad was able to introduce my local colleagues to this wonderful restaurant, and a lot of them mentioned they would be back!

    Prost!

Great restaurant not too far from the airport. The sampler pan was outstanding. The waitress was excellent and very attentive.

If you are looking to taste some amazing meats, then look no further!…read more The chef invites you to the meat counter, where you will receive a detailed explanation of each type of meat (origin, preparation, texture, taste). He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. They also have lobster and fish. During the course of the evening, the staff was always friendly and quick to come by to refill our drinks. We also received a little cup of home made chocolate mousse in the end. It was the perfect finish to a great evening! One remark though: It was excruciatingly hot inside. Not sure why, but I would have felt more comfortable in my bikini.

While on business in this quaint city just outside Brussels, I discovered a gem of a restaurant…read more The formula is simple: a small, cozy, and romantic dining room with an excellent selection of artisanal prime dry-aged beef from producers across western Europe. We arrived ahead of the fully booked Friday evening dinner crowd without a reservation and were told they couldn't accommodate us...but on second thought were asked, "Would we mind eating at the bar?" No problem! The chef cheerily led us to his meat case which held a dozen of the evening's beef selections from Ireland, Spain, Belgium, and other regions. We settled on the dry-aged Rubia from the Galicia, Spain. The steak included frites, salad, a choice of several sauces, and we agreed to let the chef serve everything per his recommendations. We ordered a nice blond trippel ale which was quickly followed by our amuse bouche - a superb steak tartare served on a crusty thin slice of bread. French Gillardeau oysters were next and wonderfully fresh, plump, and briny- perfect. Our attentive waiter suggested a fine French table wine and served it cold stating that as it approached room temperature each sip would seem like a different wine - he was right! The Rubia steak was served sliced on a metal platter laid atop a custom candle heated stainless steel warming platform. The steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender and with only natural juices and a bit of sea salt it was probably the best steak I have ever had. This comparison includes Peter Luger's in Brooklyn, NYC, Morton's Chicago, The Chop House Chicago, Del Frisco's NYC, St. Elmo Indianapolis...numerous Ruth's Chris, Fleming's, Michael Jordan's, Don Shula's, and Capital Grilles across the USA. Should I go on? Paired with sublime frites and a simple butter lettuce salad this bistro meal was simple perfection. Cutting the tender steak with a fine Laguiole knife capped the experience for me; I had a choice of several handles and chose the fine shell handle knife! I can't wait until my travels return me to Leuven and a chance to visit Bistro Tribunal and their attentive and helpful staff.

This place is awesome.. The meat, the setting, the friendly personnel…read more People don't go out of their way for something they can experience next door. If I tell you we drive a combined total of almost two hours for the steaks these guys serve.. And we keep going back for more. I think I've said enough! Let's start with the setting.. It's an old farm totally refurbished, they have a wine cellar, whiskey and gin bar up the attic, half open kitchen and the dining hall is located in sort of a green house (winter garden). As far as you can see around you is a hilly landscape full of fields which adds to the total farm experience. The staff is super friendly and helpful, they're good with kids (in the summer time there's a bouncy castle, sheep to look at and go-carts for kids) and they get a lot of foreign customers and treat them as well as they can. The wine selection is good, and you can even go and get a bottle in the wine cellar. You always get home made potato chips, ham and bread as appetizers, followed up by some black pudding sausage, meat salad etc. all products from the butchers shop they run.. And you can take all these products with you when you go home. Let's move on to the meat.. It's not the cheapest but it's the best as far as I know. They serve two kinds of meat.. Veal or junior beef (all own bred cattle), I always tend to go for the last one since I prefer red meat and veal tends to be a lot lighter. Your knife will literally slide trough this tasty redness. I'm also very keen on the extra herb "crust" they put on the meat if you ask them.. Delicious!! The desserts are ok and the coffee is always accompanied by fresh apple cake. The only thing I'm not so fond of is the buffet style salad bar, but I'm not a rabbit so no harm done! Good job guys, keep up the good work.

Gorgeous tranquil setting, great meat, super friendly staff, (winter) garden dining and kids play…read morearea. And as they're a butcher too, there's nothing that keeps you from stopping by and taking some home :-)
