Are you KIDDING me......this place knocks it out of the PARK! Wowza! I had been here two years ago for a Yelp event, and I am just now going back again, because I happened to be in the neighborhood. Even if I weren't in the hood, I can't believe I didn't make it a point to return before this. I had the salad with the delectable, flavorful brisket, which falls apart in your mouth. I topped it with crispy onions, pickled cucumber/radish mix, pickled red cabbage, eggplant (whatever they marinate that in is out of this world), and a little bit of special sauce. Voila. What a hearty salad. I expected there would be a long line, but surprisingly at 1:45 PM on a Sunday afternoon, there was no line whatsoever. Parking was easy to find. Cold topping bar are fresh and tasty -- I'm a sucker for pickled veggies so I was excited to see pickled cabbage as an option. The line was pretty long, but it moved relatively fast. I've been here twice. Both times, totally amazing. The food is so fresh and divine. The Van Aken Markets bring such a breath of fresh air to Cleveland. I'm so incredibly happy that this is here! There's plenty of parking and lots to be explored. The exterior of Brassica is right on the corner and the hardware of everything is to be expected: brass. There is an amazing selection of proteins to choose from. Chicken shawarma was delectable. The lamb bacon was also great. A real star was the falafel though. I was told that it's never older than 5 minutes! Anything that's been out for longer than 5 minutes gets tossed. And the pita is handmade and great. I would also greatly recommend their special sauce. Please also try their fries!!! They're SO WORTH IT. Overall, this place would be a nice place to meet up with friends or even have a date. What would make it great would be exploring the rest of the Van Aken shops after eating and grabbing some ice cream next door at Mitchell's! I don't know what half of this food is, but it tastes absolutely incredible! Bravo to Brassica.

I don't want to write a derogatory review, so I won't, however, several things could use enhancements or improvement. Ok, I am lying, here it goes. First visit: I ordered a salad. Why does the menu sign say "Salad + $2"? What does that even mean? Salad greens and lentil rice are $2? Nope, that's not it. My salad had NO protein, just all of the veggie options and I will say that it was delicious. Very fresh and all of the flavors went well together, from the crunchy onions to the tangy pickled cabbage to the slightly spicy carrots. All was very good, but again, I asked for no protein, So, Why was my salad $9.50? The lady handed me a cup. I did not ask for it, but I took it and enjoyed the minty pink lemonade. End of story. No questions asked because I did not really think about the unusual pricing and situation of a cup I did not request. Today's visit: I inquired about the pricing before I ordered my salad. She explained that the protein creates the price. So, for example if I ask for Chicken, the price is $11.50. She went to place the lentil rice on the bottom of my bowl, to which I instructed I wanted it separate. So she filled my bowl with greens. Not much room for much else. Would you believe, I did ask for chicken and she placed 4 little pieces of chicken on the salad!!! This place is Chipotle with more veggies and that is not a compliment. So, at this point, I should have asked for the manager because I was already unhappy. But I also did not feel well, so I plowed through the line. I am a compartmentalized eater so you cannot throw everything on top of each other as I won't eat it. So I had the three servers, place the food exactly as I asked. The mush mouthed young man on the end of the line could not be heard, I asked him to repeat everything he said and when I asked for my dressing to go, I got home to find a half empty small container. Seriously??? My Salad ended up being the $11.50 and why is that??? If I give them a 3rd chance, it will be with management present. Oh, and I asked about the cup that was not offered..she just stared at me and offered a water cup. Is that what they did 1st visit and I did not know it was for water??? GUYS, signage needs to be CLEAR, PROTEIN needs to be given in the price appropriate serving and water cups should NOT or ALWAYS be offered. Scratch, hand-made pita pockets and bowls made with tons of fresh proteins, veggies and sauces means you can have a different combo every single time you come in! Everything is made on-site and guaranteed fresh so you can be assured your food is right at its peak. My wife and I split a couple of sandwiches our first time in, and the second time we sampled the bowls. Our preference are the bowls, mostly because you can (more easily) pick and choose what goes into each bite...but the ingredients for the pitas and bowls are identical. Proteins came as meats or falafel. Veggies ranged the gamut from simply seasoned and flavorful to fairly spicy (if that's your thing). They had a number of sauces to choose from, but the king of the hill is their "special sauce"...it is a must try! Sides are also available, and their seasoned fries are some of the best you'lll find anywhere. Pair your meal with a fresh tea or even a bottle of wine or beer and you've got the perfect meal. I've heard rave reviews about this place ever since it opened a month ago at Van Aken so finally gave it a try for brunch this morning and expectations were well met!! We got brisket salad bowls ($12.50) with literally everything on them because it all looked too delicious not to try. The worker told me they could half & half the protein, but I was having a tough time deciding so went for a triple combo (1/3 slow roasted chicken, 1/3 brisket, 1/3 lamb bacon) My fave was the beef brisket, braised to a perfect smokiness, and as their menu aptly claims, is "fall-apart tender" in your mouth. Chicken and lamb were good too, but brisket stands out as having the most depth of flavor. Super impressed by their freshness of ingredients - I knew the pita & falafel were made fresh but wasn't expecting such quality vegetables from a fast food Chipotle-style place, though I guess this justifies the higher-than-average price pt for BYOB. Veggies not only locally sourced but also well-marinated and bursting with flavor. Get them ALL (noteworthy: pickled cabbage, crispy onion, spicy cauliflower, roasted carrots & eggplant) with the special house sauce on top! Also tried a side of roasted pepper sauce, which was a bit runny and didn't complement the bowl nearly as well. Baba and hummus are on point. Hard to go wrong here because the toppings are all so delicious on their own that any combination is pretty much guaranteed to be tasty; neither of us could pick out a single ingredient we didn't like. Also try the minty pink lemonade - not overly sweet & refreshing on a sunny day! Though one of us was veryy skeptical of the portion sizes, the bowls are *surprisingly* huge--packed a lottt deeper then they look in pics-- and we both actually struggled a little to finish despite coming on totally empty stomachs Usually long lines from what I hear but almost no wait when we came early after opening time ~11 on a Sunday. Omggggg, if only Brassica had another location closer to Cleveland Heights, because I'd visit every day if I could. My friend and I came to Van Aken for dinner here, and I'm so glad I made the suggestion to go. The best way I can describe this restaurant is a BYO-style Lebanese restaurant. All the ingredients are made fresh, and while you're in line, you can even see the workers baking fresh pita in the oven. My first time coming here, I made a salad bowl with falafel and added some marinated eggplant and beets on the side. The falafel tasted exactly the way I wanted it to: crispy, not too oily, and spiced just right. I also loved the marinated eggplant in particular, because it added a sort of sweetness to my salad bowl. For $11, it was a little more expensive for a fast-casual dinner, but I could tell I got my money's worth based on the quality and flavor of my food. I have yet to try other falafel places around Cleveland, but I know I can rely on this place for delicious falafel. Can't wait to come back and try their other stuff! read more

I opted for the brisket pita sandwich with all the toppings to try a lil bit of everything. Each topping could honestly be it's own stand alone a dish-- uniquely and boldly flavored and well cooked. I really love Brassica's concept and their food. They are very friendly and they have delicious, high quality foods! I first came here for a Yelp event with a big group, and then I came back and brought my family. We all love it. I think my favorite meat is the brisket, it is fall apart tender! Best pita I've ever had! Every place in Cleveland I've tried has pita on the dry side that typically has to be ripped apart. This pita is whole wheat and so soft! It is wonderful and came warm. I usually get the chicken shawarma or falafel salad with most toppings (pita crisps are a must). I'd also recommend getting the warm pita on the side. The sandwiches are great as well, but you might have to get creative with how you eat them because they tend to get pretty tall (vertically). They recently opened this locations Brassica. Heard a lot @ the Columbus location. Not sure how many other locations there are. This is a build your own Mediterranean dish from scratch place. Similar concept as Chipotle is for Mexican food or Pieology / Blaze is for pizza. They serve 2 main options a salad bowl or a sandwich. For a bowl, start with ur base (rice) add 1 of 5 main options (Veggies, Chicken, Falafel, Lamb Bacon or Beef Brisket) and add-on's as u go (have to admit many choices with the add-on's and delicious at that). For a sandwich, start with a freshly baked Pita bread (baked well and tastes even better) I think it's wheat (has the color) not sure they have other options in the pita bread. Than add ur options and add-on's. We also ordered the French fries, cooked perfectly, nice size fries (not shoestring or steak cut) they sprinkle (salt and paprika (I think) and served with an aioli sauce. The food is extremely tasty and this place is without a doubt going to be a regular stop when available in locations I travel to. They are a bit pricey though. Our order was brisket pita sandwich and falafel bowl with fries for $27.00. The food here is deserving 5 stars, the decor and design of restaurant is deserving 5 stars, the service could be better (4 stars). 1st impressions go a long way and for restaurants, service impressions maybe be even more important than the food sometimes. Brassica has continued to be one of my favorite restaurants since they came onto the scene at Pinecrest. During the pandemic, I haven't eaten out a ton. When I heard that Brassica had simple curbside pickup, I had to give it a try! I love the healthy, colorful, fresh Mediterranean fare here. I placed an order on their app and selected a pick-up time. Upon arrival, Brassica has sanctioned parking spots for pick-up only. This is appreciated amongst the sometimes chaotic Pinecrest parking. Once I arrived, I gave them a ring and my food was brought to my car efficiently by a staff member wearing a mask and gloves. In my opinion, this process was excellent given the world we're currently living in and we were so impressed by how friendly, efficient and organized Brassica was. We tried the pita with chicken and tried the brisket salad bowl. My friend liked the spicy toppings, but even the ones that were supposed to have no heat were too spicy for me. The vegetarian among us thought it was a great place because vegetables had nice sauces. Cookies for dessert. Service 5/5. I don't think anything beats Brassica for a healthy, guilt free lunch. I love how fresh the ingredients are down to their pita (which is made in house!) I have taken both my fiance and SIL from RI here. Every time they visit, this is on our list of places to eat. My go to order is a bowl (with a pita on the side +$1) with crispy onions, baba, and falafel (4 per order). I get ALL the vegetables (if I had to choose just two, it would be the eggplant and cauliflower..but it's a good thing I don't have to). I finish it off with a mix of zhug and special sauce (basically a garlic cream sauce). I usually eat half and save the other half for lunch the next day. I would recommend finishing the pita however as it does not save well. read more

First thing I noticed was probably 1/3 the employees were not wearing gloves while touching the food which COVID-19 or not was unsettling. Stayed regardless and ordered the Brisket Pita Sandwich with hummus (tasty), fresh greens (so good, crisp and fresh), brisket (good but serving size was incredibly underwhelming), pickled cabbage (intense but good), crispy onions (delicious), roasted pepper sauce (solid), special sauce (would get again), and a cauliflower and jalapeño mix (surprisingly a great combo). I also ordered a local beer - they had a nice selection of pale ales and wine. Although I enjoyed the flavor combo and most of the ingredients - they made the pita bread instantly soggy (dined in) and only 3-4 of my bites actually had brisket in them. Did not even finish my sandwich. HOWEVER, I would like to come back and try a salad with chicken instead. We need a Westside location! This place is delicious! I will drive anywhere for food and I will drive through rush hour on 480/271 to eat this for dinner! I originally found out about Brassica because of a yelp event I attended and I have been back many times since. I talk about this place to anyone who will listen. I am not one to seek out falafel but DAMN, they have good falafel. I cannot order anything else because I am in love with the falafel. Luckily my husband has ordered the chicken and the brisket and I have been able to try those as well. I have yet to order a bowl but I can tell you the pita is fresh, so fresh you can watch them make it while you are standing in line. They offer so many different sauces and fresh toppings. My go to order is the Falafel Pita with hummus, cucumbers and radish, pickled red cabbage and spicy carrots topped with the special sauce. I also order the Brassica fries and dip them in the special sauce. To me, the fries are a must every time.
