I saw Brassica while scrolling through Yelp's list of Cleveland restaurants, and honestly what drew me into Brassica from this list was its pretty pictures... especially the stuffed Pitas in the metal cylindrical holder! I hate it when I get a cold, hard Falafel, but here, I got a piping hot Falafel that showcased that well-ground Chickpea texture...that probably doesn't make much sense. It was pleasantly soft, but it still maintained some grainy texture that makes fresh Falafel so delightful to chew. The Spiced Carrots are big chunky slices of carrots that are boiled (or steamed?) and look to be glazed too. I wasn't really looking too much because I started nomming on the Pita ASAP (oopsies!). It's called "Spiced" Carrots, but it isn't really spicy at all. So for people who don't like spice, these carrots are safe for you! I come from a foodie haven, aka Southern California (where there is an abundance of young and hip Foodie Millennials), so I've tried quite a lot of "Foodie" destinations. But...this place was a standout in my memory. It was one of the best, quick n' easy to order Middle Eastern restaurant I've eaten at. You can truly make a combination of anything taste good here. I have only gotten the Pita Sandwich but I believe the salad is probably a larger quantity (and pricier). The quality of vegetables available is phenomenal because they are cooked with flavor that gives them all a unique kick. I get the falafel, but I have never heard bad things about the meats available. The place does get crowded sometimes but the service is similar to Chipotle so you can have a quick lunch/dinner and leave feeling very full. On Earth Day, Brassica was also giving out free falafel sandwiches which was my first time experiencing their falafels. It was life changing and now I get the falafel pita sandwich every time. They're crunchy and very filling with very good seasoning. I also tried their sodas which I found out Brassica makes themselves. I would recommend trying all of them. They're super refreshing - the lemonade was my favorite. Fries are also so worth it with a side of the special sauce to dip in them. Also, the bowl although a little more expensive is totally worth it. They give you a TON of food and I actually make two meals out of it. Comes with rice and all the vegetables you would normally put on a pita. Super filling. I'd give Brassica 10 stars if it was allowed. My first experience at Brassica was a Yelp event earlier this summer, and I just had to get back. So I finally did. We loaded the dogs in the car and made the 35 minute drive, just so get the Brassica experience. The inside is really nice, however the patio is dog friendly. They have 3 large tables, and it was nice and shady on that side of the building. If those tables are busy, I believe the large Van Aken Market courtyard area around the side is dog friendly as well. I was in awe of how fresh everything was on my first visit. They make everything from scratch, in house, nothing is ever frozen. The falafel is by far the best I've ever had, and their secret is that it never sits in a tray more than 5 minutes. It's always hot and fresh. Crispy on the outside, soft like a pillow on the inside. If you opt for a pita sandwich instead of a salad, the pita pockets are being made right in front of you. I'm a big fan of the salads. I get lentils and rice, hummus, greens, falafel, pita chips, crispy onions, eggplant, red pickled cabbage, cauliflower and roasted carrots. It's delectable. Healthy, colorful, the flavors all mix so well, the veggies have so much flavor, the texture is perfect, the portion is huge (I'm a big guy, it fills me up). I love the salad bowl. And it comes in less than $10. There are 4 options for sauce. All are good, however I think the special sauce is the best. I usually get a couple extra sauces on the side to dip fries in. Clean and modern appearance, although it is a bit small, and I would imagine it gets busy and crowded at times. Service was fast and friendly. Food was amazing. We had the brisket and lamb bacon bowls with a side falafel. We added pretty much everything on our bowls, and everything as deliciously packed with unique flavors. The falafels were some of the best around this area. Not dry like many other offerings around the Cleveland area. Price is a bit higher than many other places focusing on the Chipotle sales model.
