While Brasswood is a little farther north than I usually venture when I visit Napa Valley, it was well worth the trek. This restaurant is located among Brasswood's other businesses: winery, bakery cafe, and some retail store (that I didn't check out). [[HIGHLIGHT]]there's a large inside dining room with interesting decor, and there's an outside seating area in the back as well, which overlooks the courtyard in the middle of all the business (which has a nice water fountain thing in the middle).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] the middle of courtyard looks like it's set up for weddings. I opted to sit outside since it was a nice day as did most of their other customers at the time. Our server was polite and professional. - fresh mozzarella with toasted bread: I don't know why this isn't listed on the menu since it's the biggest reason to come here. Fresh pulled mozzarella that they cut up tableside and serve on some freshly charred and toasted bread. It's not just nice, fresh mozzarella; they season it properly along with a drizzle of olive oil. So good. - heirloom tomatoes with balsamic vinegar: this is also not on the menu, but it's probably seasonal and based on the availability of good quality tomatoes. delicious. a perfect complement to the mozzarella, really. is it pricey at $12 for a few pieces of tomato? yes, but I'd do it again. - Short Rib Sugo (slow-cooked short ribs, carrot, & onion sofrito, mushrooms, cabernet sauvignon, parmesan, house-made pappardelle pasta): this was a solid dish. basically, what you'd expect. nice and rich. I think they used a touch too much rosemary when seasoning this dish, but not enough to ruin it. - Duck Bolognese (sonoma duck, classic mirepoix & red wine, pecorino romano, house-made pappardelle pasta): this was also delightful. it ate similar to the short rib sugo in that it was this rich, delicious pasta dish. I found this one more to my liking compared to the short rib sugo, but I think they're both fine dishes. - The Brasswood Burger (meat, cheddar cheese, & ketchup only): this was a variation of their standard burger that was ordered for a kid. I had a few bites of it. while the bun was just plain great, the patty itself was dry & overcooked. they didn't ask for the doneness of the meat when we ordered, and perhaps, they just hammered the thing since it was being served to a kid. - French Fries: these were served with the burger. they were very nice. thin and crispy. good fries! - Chocolate Mousse Cake (cranberry sauce, chantilly cream, amaretti cookie): this was very chocolately. almost too chocolatey, but the cranberry sauce and chantilly cream played a nice foil to the richness of the chocolate. I wasn't sure if I'd like the chocolate & cranberry combination, but it worked nicely. A good dessert for chocolate lovers. read more

Great food. Absolutely terrible service. What could have been one of our best meals in Napa was completely overshadowed by the worst service my husband and I have EVER experienced. The food was excellent--the mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, ahi salad, and pizza were all delicious. Unfortunately, our server took our order and then essentially disappeared for the rest of the evening. Our plates and silverware were cleared but never replaced. We asked for more and waited so long that we eventually took silverware from the table next to us. We asked for the check twice and told someone we had lost our server. Meanwhile, we couldn't even order a glass of wine or dessert. When our server finally returned, she explained that she had a friend in a wheelchair and had needed to help transfer her. I understand wanting to help a friend, but leaving an entire table without service for essentially the entire meal--with no communication or backup--was unacceptable. Credit to the chef for the fantastic food and to the busboy who kept our water glasses full. But great food can only go so far when you're literally ignored all night. We won't be returning. Came in during lunch and I have to say, I really wasn't too impressed with this meal. We both agreed the mozzarella appetizer was delicious, but there was some miscommunication with our waitress. We were under the impression the appetizer came with heirloom tomatoes as she had presented them in a way that made it sound like such, only to receive the bill and find that they were separate charges and pretty overpriced. I also ordered the warm Brussels salad and thought it was just okay. I noticed after the meal that the salad never came with the caramelized onions as advertised on the menu, and overall it just felt like I was eating a bed of Brussels and bacon. The final thing we got was an Arnold Palmer that was in need of some sugar or something to help take away the bitterness of the drink. Plus we never got asked about a dessert menu, which we wanted to try in the beginning having seen some come from the kitchen and all looking amazing. But after our meal and service, we didn't get to it. We were recommended this restaurant and excited to try it, but it didn't really meet expectations. The highlight of our night was sitting at the bar with Bryan and Bryan - the cocktails were true art! They put so much care into what they were making and it was fun to watch. What an amazing meal. We were big fans of tra vigne back in the day too. One thing that jumps out is how beautiful everything is. The salads, drinks, pasta, mains, are all so attractive. We did the lunch and wine pairing here based on a recommendation from a nearby winery and wow this was my best meal of the trip. The wine paired perfectly and was so drinkable. We came here during beginning of December for some R&R and we were pleased with our experience. The food was delicious; we shared everything including the short rib sugo, the duck leg risotto, fritto misto (super delicious), the persimmon and prosciutto salad and of course their popular panna cotta dessert. Their menu rotates and is seasonal so the dessert images and other items that you see on Yelp does not reflect their current options. I saw a seafood pasta on Yelp (what better place to read about a restaurant than Yelp!) and was told it was no longer on the menu. Nonetheless, everything was delicious and we wish there were larger portions bc we were a bit hungry that evening after a long but restful spa day. The service was not bad, it just seemed to be longer than the other tables. The ambiance was ok, it was a little too dark for our liking but thankfully we got to sit in a comfy booth. Brasswood was recommended to us, so we stopped by after our wine tasting which was close by. I love duck so the duck bolognese captivated my interest right off the bat. The ambiance is dark and kind of cabin-like, very cozy. We ordered the mozzarella bread (off-menu item that was hyped up to us), fried arancini balls with pesto sauce, and the duck bolognese. Both the mozzarella bread and fried arancini balls could have used a touch more of salt. The duck bolognese was good, but to be honest it tasted like a regular bolognese with zero hint of duck, which was a bit disappointing. Service was okay, I did have to ask for my water to be refilled. After visiting Rombauer winery in St Helena, we asked for a recommendation for lunch and our server told us about this place...mainly for the fresh mozzarella. We arrived about 11:30 am and got seated in a nice booth with our Friends. We started off with the mozzarella appetizer, I believe not listed on the menu. Seriously one of the best meals I've had in a long time; had scallops and they were so lovely and delicate. And they were super-accommodating to gluten- and dairy-free needs. We made reservations around 7pm we arrived early because we seen there is also a winery there as well so we wanted to see the outside and surrounding area. We came here for a "buy out" where the entire complex is rented for an event. This is an amazing property! We started at the Pizza Patio where they had three different types of pizza (all wood fired). My favorite was the pepperoni and tomato. They took us on the Cave Tour next where we saw the wine making equipment and the 17,000sf cavern that took them five years to dig out. They store about 20 different varieties of wine in the Cave in barrels (French Oak). We stopped by the Restaurant where they had cheeses and a charcuterie. A football game was on the TV in the barn while we taste the various items. They had a house-made pasta station and a mozzarella station in the Barn. The mozzarella was some of the best I've ever tasted. There was a sensory tasting room near the Cafe that featured glass globes filled with different elements that reminded you of the aromas of the Brasswood wines. We ended the night at the Cafe. They had a table there with an array of delicious desserts including macarons, cobbler, and a rich chocolaty dessert. I can see why people have events and weddings here. Thank you Yelp for all the reviews for Brasswood! This was the perfect place for us! We wanted lunch but my husband is craving salad and I was open to anything. We found a few options online, but Brasswood had more of the ambience who were looking for. It's on their property, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, next to their tasting room and the retail store. They also have a lovely café with a bakery next to the bar + kitchen. We sat outside on the patio. It's a lovely fall day, a bit overcast if anything. The mozzarella cheese is their signature dish and you have to get it! It looks not so special but it's served with hot off the grill toasted baguette that's baked onsite at the bakery next door. The EVOO, salt and freshly ground pepper all go so well together. They sliced it at the table and the put over the bread at the table for you. It's so delicious! Can't wait to go back and order this again! The pickled beet salad was on point. It was served with watermelon radishes, arugula and lots of toasted pistachios. So so good! We had a really great experience at Brasswood for lunch between tasting! First up was the off-menu hand-pulled mozzarella that we heard was a must from everyone. It was a fun experience as they plated it right at your table. The bread was so crispy and salty and it perfectly complimented the creamy mozzarella and savory oil. We split the brussels sprouts and the risotto with a confit duck leg. Both dishes were so flavorful and you could tell the kitchen really took their time on them. The brussels sprouts had crispy bacon and a nice nutty flavor with the cheese on top. The duck leg was fall off the bone in the skin was so crispy! The risotto was a little rich, so it was perfect to share with another person. We ended our meal with an Affogato, and it was the perfect sweet to a savory and rich lunch. I cannot believe that I haven't left a review for my beloved Brasswood Bar + Kitchen! This is one of my favorite restaurants in St. Helena and for so many reasons. First things first; if you're coming here, you NEED to get the fresh made mozzarella! It's not listed on their regular menu, but it's an absolute MUST. It's served fresh atop delicious crostini bread and drizzled with virgin olive oil. They literally bring it out uncut and slice it right in front of you. Not only is it scrumptious, but the presentation is like a little show that I love watching every time I order it. Yeah... you need it in your life! Secondly; save room for dessert and get that butterscotch panna cotta! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It's so rich, buttery, and creamy. The little cookies that they serve it with are dynamite too. Okay, so now that I've gotten the essentials out of the way, let's talk entrees. If you're a pizza and pasta lover, this place is definitely for you. Their pizzas are scrumptious and their pastas are creative. They tend to rotate out different entrees, so it's always a surprise when I see the new selections on the menu. But, the food has generally always been tasty here. Reservations are a must, especially if you want to sit on their back patio. And yes, you'll WANT to sit there on a beautiful day because it's so comforting. Brasswood has a whole estate here with their own separate tasting room, cafe, and a few other tasting rooms and stores on deck. This is a place where you can spend your entire day here and that's what people do. So, make a reservation if you can because this popular spot gets busy. My girlfriend had the duck with risotto which was better- maybe 4 stars but it didn't stand out above our dinner the previous night. The service needed some work. It's like our server can read our minds or just has a heighten sense of hearing because everything that we seemed to have mentioned, he came back around and offered even before we asked. This is our go to restaurant when we are wine tasting in St. Helena. The service is very friendly and attentive. The food is tasty with items not regularly available at other restaurants. One of our favorites is the off menu ( you need to ask for it specially) warm mozzarella on toasted French bread. They also have arancini with pesto or duck bolognese sauce. We prefer the pesto. It was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the bread it came with had the perfect crunch on the outside while still being fluffy in the middle. We also shared the steak sandwich special, which was delicious and came with crispy shoestring fries. They definitely didn't skimp out on the fries. The pizza lunch special we ordered had a white sauce base with bacon and green onion - also really tasty. We went to brasswoods, we go in specially for the warm mozzarella over French bread. It was good but a bit on the cool side so the cheese was rubbery, and very salty. And we both had the Cesar chicken salad, the chicken was dry, it was over cooked. We also had the arancini which was spot on! We have been going there for the last 5-6 years this is the first time we had theses issues. I'll return of course but I thought I would bring it to their attention. My sister & I came here for an early dinner on Thur 4/2 around 5 pm. I asked if Neal working, but he wasn't. My sister wanted to sit outside near the fire but Eileen said they weren't serving out there, but she took us out there anyway. She then proceeded to take our drink & appetizer order. We shared the amazing Mozzarella in Olive Oil with toasted bread $18, and an order of Truffle Fries $11. There seemed to be a bit too much sea salt of both. For my entree I got the warm Brussel Sprout salad $18. My sister an order of the Fritto Misto $22 She had no idea it was all fried food since it didn't say on the menu. We shared the Butterscotch Panna Cotta $14 which was yummy. We started off with the mozzarella (wasn't on the menu but we asked) and it was some of the best I've had - and I was in Italy early this year and will be going again in December! The beet salad was also amazing. What fell short were the main dishes: Pork chop and the duck risotto. Pork chop and the duck were dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. Came here on my birthday with my family and since it was midweek, plenty of availability. We sat outside since the weather was so mild. So pretty. Our server was amazing! He was so thoughtful when my daughter got spaghetti sauce on her new dress and he brought a stain remover spray out to help. My kids liked exploring the "backyard" (as my daughter put it) and allowed us to have a few minutes of peaceful conversation. We had the seared scallops, steak salad, spaghetti and meatballs, truffle Parmesan fries, sautéed spinach. Then topped off the meal with the triple chocolate sundae and butterscotch panna cotta.
