Seriously one of the best meals I've had in a long time; had scallops and they were so lovely and delicate. And they were super-accommodating to gluten- and dairy-free needs. Also - fun fact - you can get half-orders of the pasta and salads, and the portions are still quite large. The famous handmade mozzarella - prepared table-side - was truly outstanding. We did the lunch and wine pairing here based on a recommendation from a nearby winery and wow this was my best meal of the trip. The wine paired perfectly and was so drinkable. The food was AMAZING!!! We added the fresh mozzarella and it was so tender and chewy and perfect. The arugula salad still lives rent free in my mind, the perfect combination of flavors. The lamb chop was phenomenal and I'm not big on lamb in general. The dessert was panne cotta with salted caramel and this also continues to live rent free in my mind. We stopped by for lunch with a party of nine and had a very disappointing experience. We politely asked the hostess if we could be seated outdoors. She told us there were no large tables available. I suggested splitting into two tables, but she firmly stated that there were no tables available outside. What made the situation frustrating was that there were several open tables outside, including two round tables that could easily accommodate five people each. We then asked a server if it would be possible to sit outside, and she also firmly told us that if the hostess said no, then the answer was no. Both women were dismissive and showed no interest in helping us find a solution. Because of the way we were treated during lunch service, we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. It wasn't just about the seating--it was the lack of respect, courtesy, and customer service. Very disappointing experience. We took our business elsewhere and were much happier for it! read more

After visiting Rombauer winery in St Helena, we asked for a recommendation for lunch and our server told us about this place...mainly for the fresh mozzarella. We arrived about 11:30 am and got seated in a nice booth with our Friends. We started off with the mozzarella appetizer, I believe not listed on the menu. They came with that first and presented table side. This dish was absolutely amazing...I wish I would have ordered this thing for lunch. Everyone at the table just loved it. Hub got the arancini with pesto... this was so wonderfully fresh and the fries that were also amazing. I got the Brussels sprout warm salad...extremely tasty... and our friends got the pizza and they really applauded that. We came here during beginning of December for some R&R and we were pleased with our experience. The food was delicious; we shared everything including the short rib sugo, the duck leg risotto, fritto misto (super delicious), the persimmon and prosciutto salad and of course their popular panna cotta dessert. Their menu rotates and is seasonal so the dessert images and other items that you see on Yelp does not reflect their current options. I saw a seafood pasta on Yelp (what better place to read about a restaurant than Yelp!) and was told it was no longer on the menu. Nonetheless, everything was delicious and we wish there were larger portions bc we were a bit hungry that evening after a long but restful spa day. The service was not bad, it just seemed to be longer than the other tables. The ambiance was ok, it was a little too dark for our liking but thankfully we got to sit in a comfy booth. The hostess as first seated us in a not-so-comfy 2 seater with the chairs feeling sunk-in. We had a reservation and came early. They've done an outstanding job creating a beautiful outdoor space with the landscaping. Indoor seating is rich and dark while the outdoor seating is open and spacious. Brasswood was recommended to us, so we stopped by after our wine tasting which was close by. I love duck so the duck bolognese captivated my interest right off the bat. The ambiance is dark and kind of cabin-like, very cozy. We ordered the mozzarella bread (off-menu item that was hyped up to us), fried arancini balls with pesto sauce, and the duck bolognese. Both the mozzarella bread and fried arancini balls could have used a touch more of salt. The duck bolognese was good, but to be honest it tasted like a regular bolognese with zero hint of duck, which was a bit disappointing. Service was okay, I did have to ask for my water to be refilled. In the future if I were in the area after a nearby winery tasting, there's a chance I may stumble back here and try a few different items. read more

We came here for a "buy out" where the entire complex is rented for an event. This is an amazing property! We started at the Pizza Patio where they had three different types of pizza (all wood fired). My favorite was the pepperoni and tomato. They took us on the Cave Tour next where we saw the wine making equipment and the 17,000sf cavern that took them five years to dig out. They store about 20 different varieties of wine in the Cave in barrels (French Oak). We stopped by the Restaurant where they had cheeses and a charcuterie. A football game was on the TV in the barn while we taste the various items. They had a house-made pasta station and a mozzarella station in the Barn. The mozzarella was some of the best I've ever tasted. There was a sensory tasting room near the Cafe that featured glass globes filled with different elements that reminded you of the aromas of the Brasswood wines. We ended the night at the Cafe. They had a table there with an array of delicious desserts including macarons, cobbler, and a rich chocolaty dessert. I can see why people have events and weddings here. Thank you Yelp for all the reviews for Brasswood! This was the perfect place for us! We wanted lunch but my husband is craving salad and I was open to anything. We found a few options online, but Brasswood had more of the ambience who were looking for. It's on their property, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, next to their tasting room and the retail store. They also have a lovely café with a bakery next to the bar + kitchen. We sat outside on the patio. It's a lovely fall day, a bit overcast if anything. The mozzarella cheese is their signature dish and you have to get it! It looks not so special but it's served with hot off the grill toasted baguette that's baked onsite at the bakery next door. The EVOO, salt and freshly ground pepper all go so well together. They sliced it at the table and the put over the bread at the table for you. It's so delicious! Can't wait to go back and order this again! The pickled beet salad was on point. It was served with watermelon radishes, arugula and lots of toasted pistachios. So so good! My husband loved his wedge salad with iceberg, bacon, cherry tomatoes, Gorgonzola, and blue cheese dressing. Everything was picture perfect! I'll definitely come back again! read more

We had a really great experience at Brasswood for lunch between tasting! First up was the off-menu hand-pulled mozzarella that we heard was a must from everyone. It was a fun experience as they plated it right at your table. The bread was so crispy and salty and it perfectly complimented the creamy mozzarella and savory oil. We split the brussels sprouts and the risotto with a confit duck leg. Both dishes were so flavorful and you could tell the kitchen really took their time on them. The brussels sprouts had crispy bacon and a nice nutty flavor with the cheese on top. The duck leg was fall off the bone in the skin was so crispy! The risotto was a little rich, so it was perfect to share with another person. We ended our meal with an Affogato, and it was the perfect sweet to a savory and rich lunch. Service was quick and many people were around to serve food and keep our drinks full. The only issue we had was the amount of flies. It just keeps getting better! We went in for dinner last night and Brasswood delivered an 18 on a scale of 1-10. For starters, the restaurant is lovely to walk in to. It's not huge and institutional, it's beautiful and welcoming. A great place for a celebration (that was us!) or just to meet friends or have a nice evening away from the crowds lower in the valley. Our waiter was outstanding and made some great recommendations from both the menu and the wine list. We had oysters and an epic starter (that isn't on the menu) a fresh mozzarella al minuto. Ask about and don't pass on it! For our entrees, we had risotto with duck confit and herb crusted lamb chops with two (exquisite ) sauces. The staff and service at Brasswood are exceptional people. They made our evening special. The back of the house is some mysterious combination of culinary masters and artists. We are grateful that they've set a high standard and held it! I cannot believe that I haven't left a review for my beloved Brasswood Bar + Kitchen! This is one of my favorite restaurants in St. Helena and for so many reasons. First things first; if you're coming here, you NEED to get the fresh made mozzarella! It's not listed on their regular menu, but it's an absolute MUST. It's served fresh atop delicious crostini bread and drizzled with virgin olive oil. They literally bring it out uncut and slice it right in front of you. Not only is it scrumptious, but the presentation is like a little show that I love watching every time I order it. Yeah... you need it in your life! Secondly; save room for dessert and get that butterscotch panna cotta! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It's so rich, buttery, and creamy. The little cookies that they serve it with are dynamite too. Okay, so now that I've gotten the essentials out of the way, let's talk entrees. If you're a pizza and pasta lover, this place is definitely for you. Their pizzas are scrumptious and their pastas are creative. They tend to rotate out different entrees, so it's always a surprise when I see the new selections on the menu. But, the food has generally always been tasty here. Reservations are a must, especially if you want to sit on their back patio. And yes, you'll WANT to sit there on a beautiful day because it's so comforting. Brasswood has a whole estate here with their own separate tasting room, cafe, and a few other tasting rooms and stores on deck. This is a place where you can spend your entire day here and that's what people do. So, make a reservation if you can because this popular spot gets busy. I can't forget to mention the amazing ambience! This place literally glows at night. I'm not a big winter season gal, but sitting inside for dinner here during the wintertime is so charming. I adore the low lights and rustic feel. The patio is heated during this time of year too, and you can walk around their estate when it's all lit up at night and it's adorable. Unfortunately, didn't live up to the hype as there was barely any duck and the sauce tastes generic, nothing too special. 2. mozzarella: surprisingly really good despite being mainly cheese. It's like our server can read our minds or just has a heighten sense of hearing because everything that we seemed to have mentioned, he came back around and offered even before we asked. This is our go to restaurant when we are wine tasting in St. Helena. The service is very friendly and attentive. The food is tasty with items not regularly available at other restaurants. One of our favorites is the off menu ( you need to ask for it specially) warm mozzarella on toasted French bread. They also have arancini with pesto or duck bolognese sauce. We prefer the pesto. They have a variety of pastas and several pizzas with a seasonal pizza. Overall a lovely experience. TIP/ avoid sitting close to the bar as it can be very noisy-local patrons having fun. read more

My sister & I came here for an early dinner on Thur 4/2 around 5 pm. I asked if Neal working, but he wasn't. My sister wanted to sit outside near the fire but Eileen said they weren't serving out there, but she took us out there anyway. She then proceeded to take our drink & appetizer order. We shared the amazing Mozzarella in Olive Oil with toasted bread $18, and an order of Truffle Fries $11. There seemed to be a bit too much sea salt of both. For my entree I got the warm Brussel Sprout salad $18. My sister an order of the Fritto Misto $22 She had no idea it was all fried food since it didn't say on the menu. We shared the Butterscotch Panna Cotta $14 which was yummy. Eileen came out at one point and told us she got in trouble for letting us eat out by the fire, which was very awkward. She checked on us a few times, but I had to ask her for more water. I'm not even sure if she's n actual server, but she could work on her customer service skills a bit. read more

I wish my husband and I ordered two of the mozzarella starters. I totally understand the hype now!! It was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the bread it came with had the perfect crunch on the outside while still being fluffy in the middle. We also shared the steak sandwich special, which was delicious and came with crispy shoestring fries. They definitely didn't skimp out on the fries. The pizza lunch special we ordered had a white sauce base with bacon and green onion - also really tasty. This ended up being our favorite restaurant in the St. Helena/Calistoga area, and we already can't wait to come back. Came here on my birthday with my family and since it was midweek, plenty of availability. We sat outside since the weather was so mild. So pretty. Our server was amazing! He was so thoughtful when my daughter got spaghetti sauce on her new dress and he brought a stain remover spray out to help. My kids liked exploring the "backyard" (as my daughter put it) and allowed us to have a few minutes of peaceful conversation. Awesome for dinner! We chose Brasswood Bar + Kitchen based on its great reviews and proximity to the winery were visiting. On the Monday of a holiday weekend, we got seated right away as walk-ins. The interior was stylish and cozy - big comfortable leather booths, neutral tones, etc. For drinks, we all got Arnold Palmers, which were expectedly tasty. Our server told us that they were known for their Fresh Mozzarella appetizer, so we had to start with that. It was incredible! The Fresh Mozzarella was cut and stretched onto toasted bread right in front of us, and then olive oil was drizzled on top - quite the show. Highly recommend ordering this! For entrees, I asked our server what the most popular pasta dishes were, and she informed me that I could get half-portions of the Duck Bolognese and Short Rib Sugo to try them both! The two dishes were somewhat similar but both were delicious, and the pappardelle pasta was cooked perfectly. The Short Rib Sugo ended up being my favorite, but you can't really go wrong. I was comfortably full after the two half-portions, which didn't look that large but were quite filling. My friend's Butternut Squash Ravioli was also delicious, especially with the bread crumbs on top. We couldn't resist sharing the Butterscotch Panna Cotta for dessert, which was honestly life-changing. The texture was so soft/smooth and the flavors couldn't be more perfect together. I made a reservation for our dinner that evening. At the time, only outdoor seating was available. However, when we arrived, the temperature had dropped, so we asked if it was possible to move indoors. Fortunately, the staff accommodated us right away. Our hostess was wonderful--she quickly found us a cozy table inside. The interior was warm and inviting, with leather chairs and booths. The lighting was dim and romantic, but each table had a lamp available for extra light if needed. We started with a few off-menu items, including their homemade mozzarella, which was absolutely incredible! I would honestly return just for that dish alone. Be sure to order it with the prosciutto and pesto--it's a must. We also had two dozen raw oysters, which were fresh and delicious, especially with a dash of hot sauce. For our entrées, we ordered the scallops and chicken piccata. The chicken was tender and well-cooked, but the flavor fell a bit flat. My partner said the same about the scallops--beautifully presented but lacking in seasoning. For dessert, we tried the butterscotch pudding and crème brûlée. The butterscotch had a nice creamy texture but was quite bland. The crème brûlée, unfortunately, was watery. The staff replaced it, but the second one tasted identical, as if it had the same custard base as the butterscotch--still lacking flavor. Service started off a bit rocky. Our waitress took our initial order, but our drinks took about 20 minutes to arrive--and one came even later, after we'd already finished our appetizers. We eventually had to flag someone down for help. At that point, our server seemed to have disappeared. The busser alerted the hostess who got the manager for us. He quickly stepped in once we mentioned the issue. The manager personally took over and ensured we were taken care of. We later learned our waitress wasn't feeling well, which is understandable, but some communication would have gone a long way. We saw her taking care of her other tables which was puzzling, and really didn't acknowledge us until midway through our meal. Our total bill came to around $600 for four people, which would have been fine--except for an unexpected employee wellness fee of $10 per check (we had split the bill). While I support staff wellness, I'm not sure why customers are responsible for covering what should be part of employee benefits. If every table pays that fee, it feels like the restaurant is offsetting its own healthcare costs onto guests. Overall, I'm on the fence about this place. The atmosphere was lovely, and the homemade mozzarella was unforgettable, but the uneven service, bland entrées, and puzzling wellness fee left me unsure if I'd return. read more

I have frequented Brasswood a few times while wine tasting in Napa/St Helena. The food is consistently good. I always order the mozzarella since it is absolutely delicious, and I love the presentation at our table. The stone fruit prosciutto salad was refreshing. Service can range from good to just ok especially since the hostess can either be friendly or lukewarm. I have visited the restaurant prior without a reservation and was told I would be seated in 5 minutes. When another hostess checked on our party, we were turned away saying they were fully booked without offering an apology. Since then I have learned to always make a reservation. read more
