Napa has an exceptional food scene no doubt. I was looking for something with a view that was worth the drive. After scouring Google I stumbled upon Truss at the four seasons and was able to make a last minute reservation just in time for sunset. The four seasons alone is divine but this restaurant was remarkable. The views are 10/10 exactly what you would envision when thinking of Napa. I've been to Truss three times for lunch over the past couple of years and have been satisfied until my most recent visit. The service as always was flawless but the food was not as good as I remembered on prior visits. The pizza of sausage, peppers and garlic used to be prepared on more of a flatbread crust and now is a traditional pizza crust which is not an improvement - all but the outer two inches was a soggy, greasy mess of way too much cheese and tomato sauce. Even casual dining at a Four Seasons should be better than what I can make at home with my Ooni pizza oven. read more

Fortunately, we were able to move our party to the fireplace because we started getting cold. The service was good, but the drinks were not good. Truss is located in the Four Seasons hotel in Calistoga. It's one of two restaurants on the property and each are at the extreme on the scale-one is Michelin Star at $295 per, the other a very casual "diner" style offering of pizza, burgers, salads on the low end but also offering nice fish, meat dishes. In the morning breakfast is served with nice touches-/$45 if you want basically the American breakfast with everything or individual offerings like omelettes that don't include coffee, juice etc. breakfast is pretty good- a "4" I'd say. The service folks are really good and do a nice job. Our server, Claudia, was a 5! And I tipped accordingly. I had the burger last night, a smash burger, that tasted fine but was so overdone-I didn't feel like asking for a redo, and it was ordered rare because smash burgers are two thin --patties-throw them on and get them off the burner. Not so last night but wine was amazing. A cab, Eulsa 2016. Wine maker has had over 40 #100 ratings. Brown is the real deal and his vines are on the property. Go. It's worth it. Ask for Claudia. We did not like it here, would not recommend. The food took over 30 minutes to come out and it was not busy, we were there for late afternoon service. The menu is sooo underwhelming. I was surprised that this place is 4 seasons affiliated. Im including a pic of their lackluster wannabe happy hour menu... If I am paying over 20$ for a burger I should be able to order it cooked to the temp I prefer. Why do they even have a "smash burger" on the menu in a place like this lol. The burger was two dry, well done patties and yea it's edible but a total rip-off. Oh but its fancy because they give you tiny personal sized condiment jars hahahaha! I will say that the 38$ chicken ceasar was kind of good although the chicken was strange, perhaps boiled and then tossed into a saute pan briefly? I just appreciated that it had fresh herbs but yea this place is a joke. Service started out good but then we were left waiting for plates to be cleared, the check, not much attentiveness from our waiter. We could not wait to get out of there, pretty much hated everything about the whole experience. Came in very excited to celebrate for a birthday and bachelorette party, but left incredibly disappointed. It took over 20 minutes for the host/ maitre d' to come take our drink order. We were told Eddie would be coming shortly. 7-10 minutes later, he had not shown, and the host, Morgan, who was amazing, had to again come take our order for food. We were told multiple different things by different people as to the progression of our meal and drinks, which made it a confusing meal. Three filet mignon came out for our order, only one coming out the correct temperature and the other two being completely rare- essentially raw. Food really didn't have much flavor, it was good, but nothing to write home about, nor was it worth the steep price. This is a Four Seasons establishment and this is completely unacceptable service for this company. Nobody checked on us until we were finished with our meal, therefore rendering our two undercooked meals completely untouched and everyone else full from their finished entrees. Again, Morgan was fantastic, and did a great job, but everything else about this experience was an embarrassment trying to celebrate our friend. No apologies offered nor was anything offered to be remedied, which is inexcusable. Please do better for future celebrations. read more

Visited the Four Season's Truss Bar to indulge in their Golden Hour Menu. We were hosted by Carlos at the bar who made us feel right at home with explaining the menu, getting creative with drinks, and being extremely hospitable to myself and my husband. We started off with the Truss My Old Fashioned and Sunset Negroni. My first Old Fashioned was spirit forward, classic, and good. I also loved the Sunset Negroni's flavor profile where there was depth in what notes pulled forward. During our second round, my husband got the Silverado Manhattan and an Old Fashioned that was curated specially by Carlos. He not only pulled sweeter noted t pair with banana but also smoked the cocktail. It had amazing tasting notes to create depth of flavors. Additionally, we tried the Onion Dip & Bruschetta which we both enjoyed sharing. The complimentary truffle popcorn and savory crunches were a nod to another bar near home for us. The evening was quite spectacular. We had family and friends join us The scene and setting are amazing. From the moment we walked up into the restaurant we felt that we were comfortable in at home. We were directed to our seats, where our friends were already waiting. we had the best waiter. He was attentive to care of us and unobtrusive, but yet erved us exceptionally well. However, it wasn't just our waiter. It was the team that came together and served us holistically. The ambience was phenomenal. This was not a hotel lobby or area. This was a restaurant with a bustling bar a bustling area to sit in a terrific although small area for dinner. Dinner, consisted of several entrées appetizers and shared and shared food. We all enjoyed the spectacular dishes, the way they were cooked and the textures and varieties. As you can see from the pictures, this is not a run of the mill restaurant. I am going to go back again and again and again. This is a place that will be our go to point. it is pricey, so bring your credit card, but at the same time the value quality and service, ambience, and beauty of the place make up for it. Party of 8 - spent $131 per person after taxes and tips. Dinner started great - got there at 6:15pm. Starters were the star of the show. Had 2 dozen oysters and they were as smooth and sweet as ever! The truffle fries were yummy - crispy outside and soft inside. Seabass ceviche with house made chips were tasty - the fish was cured well! Steak Tartare was pretty good for red meat tartare fans - creamy! The Burrata salad was also a win with the accompanying items! Myself and two others who got the Tagliatelle Caccio e Pepe were not very happy with it. Not enough pecorino or salt and the salt shaker they gave our table was not very good at getting out salt. Thank goodness for the side order of mushrooms I mixed into the pasta - otherwise it would have just tasted like butter noodles. All in all - the vibe of the interior was very posh and nice - service was mediocre - we didn't finish dinner until 9:15pm. Definitely a vibe dine over service timing. This place is not only esthetically pleasing, it's delicious. It's healthy and the menu is vegetarian friendly. A variety of vegetarian options which i appreciated. I wanted to get in the holiday spirit so I booked a winter chalet. I was really excited especially since this would be at the four seasons. There is valet and self parking here. The ambiance of the chalet was really cute and festive. There are many christmas trees and everything looked lit and classy. My brother and I were seated right away. Our server was ok. I don't think she ever introduced herself. I never heard her name. She got the job done though. The person refilling our water and giving us clean utensils was very polite and attentive. The water was refilled several times. We ordered the fondue, smores, and beef cheek poutine. There was one smore per person. It was fun to roast the big square marshmallows. It was very sticky. It would have been nice to have like a wet washcloth after that. My brother enjoyed the s'mores. The fondue was just ok. It came with little cuts of asparagus, tiny potatoes cut into halves, cauliflower, and small bread pieces. I was a little underwhelmed. the beef poutine was a large portion. Just ate at Truss for the first time. This is a very upscale place that also has a casual side. The food is tremendous! Every bite we had was delicious. The ambiance was clean and bright with high ceilings that have beautiful wooden beams and high windows that have a great view of the mountains. Food was mediocre, wine is marked up about 800% where you pay $85 for a $13 bottle Daou Chardonnay from Paso Robles, and menu selection is meh. Service is by far the worse I've experienced at any Four Seasons restaurant worldwide, especially the patio. Waitress were just mad at life, did not want to be there, and serviced with a sense of entitlement, especially patio service . Too bad. Price, was irrelevant. Visited Truss for dinner during our stay at the Solage across the street and it was absolutely amazing. The restaurant is located on the property of the Four Seasons Hotel so as you would expect from the establishment of that caliber, the place looks very upscale. All staff were friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable. We ordered a lot of food for the two of us thinking we would have leftovers, but everything was so delicious that not only did we not have any leftovers, we couldn't resist the temptation to eat dessert. Everything we tried from oysters and ceviche, to filet and pasta to tiramisu and a cobbler was simply excellent. Everything was perfectly prepared and beautifully plated. Came for lunch on a Friday. Even on a cloudy & rainy day, the grounds of the Four Seasons and TRUSS Restaurant Bar are beautiful and perfectly modern. We started off with a glass of champagne, followed by Smokey the Pear and the Sunset Jalisco. Both were delicious and loved the smokey presentation. For food we had the Truffle Parmesan Fries, Roasted Chicken Sandwich & Grilled Maitake Pizza. The fries were perfectly truffle flavored and crispy. The chicken sandwich was my favorite, flavorful and tasty with pepper jam, Swiss cheese and cilantro lime aioli. The grilled Maitake pizza was also loaded with flavor, the crust thin and perfectly crispy, with two eggs in the center. For dessert we had the cast iron skillet cookie with Tahitian vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries and coffee. The coffee was smooth and the cast iron cookie might be the best I've had. We ordered two pizzas and one pasta. The pizzas were honestly the worst I've ever had in my life, they looked awful and tasted even worse, almost like throw-up. Despite the nice look and ambience of the place, the food just doesn't live up to it. The pasta, on the other hand, was tasty and delicious. I think they seriously need to rethink their pizza recipe and cooking method, because serving something like that is unacceptable. read more

We had lunch here on a Wednesday after a spa visit. Service is very good. The view is nice...especially when they opened the folding doors. Food is good. My husband really liked the calistoga bowl. For dinner, we ordered the caviar service, potato & leek soup, cacio e pepe with lobster, steak with whipped potatoes & broccolini, mushrooms and truffle fries. I ordered the mocktail with yuzu, matcha creme, and lychee boba. It was so good, I ordered another one. Every single item was excellent, but the standouts were the soup, pasta & whipped potatoes. Would definitely order all of those again. We attempted to get brunch at Truss the next morning, but we got there at 11am, right after they changed out the menu, so we ended up eating lunch there. My partner ordered the burger and I ordered the poke bowl, but tbh, I wish I ordered the burger. I thought I'd order something healthier given the huge meal we had the night prior, but I got FOMO after I had a couple bites of the burger. It's honestly one of the best burgers I've had in my life. We have eaten at the restaurant, the fancier spot and at the bar. By far our favorite, when it's too cold to eat outside on their deck, is the bar. It's more casual and intimate; you can sit back and take in the amazing view of the property and surrounding hills and you have access to the full menu. While the staff are nice and btw the sommelier is EXCELLENT we have found the service can be slow and we once had to leave without having had dinner because even the bartender who was serving us admitted that waiting for 80 mins for our entrees was not acceptable (he offered to comp the wine we had had but we still insisted on paying). But I think they are still sorting the service piece out and they are incrementally getting there. Last night the food was all on point. The sauce served with the chicken was so good. I wanted to pick my bowl up and drink it all down. Chicken was so moist and tender. All the veggies were fresh and well done. My husband's salmon was a little underdone but we had more than enough food so the little underdone bit will reheat nicely when we have leftovers today. ;-) While not perfect, hence the 4 stars, we will continue to return. Considering the price point I expected to enjoy my meal more. When it comes to the service/staff, 5 stars hands down. The meal was just okay. I did enjoy the charcuterie board. I ordered the roasted chicken sandwich. I was bummed because the sauces saved the sandwich for sure. The chicken itself didn't have a lot of flavor. Majority of the table ordered the burger and loved it. I did steal a few of my friends truffle fries and they were good. For my cocktail I had the tea party. Which is basically an espresso martini with kahlua and tea infused ketel one. I enjoyed my drink more than anything else. That and the view were my favorite parts.
