My super traditional Chinese parents rarely have American style food. They moved to the Bay Area 36 Years ago and I can count on my two hands (6 times) they have had legitimate American style food that wasn't fast food, fast casual, or a chain restaurant. That and the fact that they have never been to Napa/Sonoma Area in their 36 years in America, meant that my brother and I had to plan a trip. My brother selected Mustards Grill. It was along the way to our reservation to Beringer and continently along St. Helena Highway. Despite hearing about Mustards being a staple within the Yountville area, it was so my first time trying it too. We had a reservation for 4 and after getting taken care of by the courteous host and being welcomed by our waitress, we were left with waters and the menu. To get the most of the experience, my brother thought we should all share several items. We shared their famous Pork Chops, Duck Confit, Ribs and Cornbread, Squash Risotto, and a side of Green Beans. We were offered fresh bread and butter prior to the arrival of our entrees and shortly after enjoying the soft pillowy bread, we were ready for more. My parents, being Cantonese and coming from the restaurant background, really care about having fresh and quality ingredients and letting the flavors shine - not letting sauces dictate the dish. Despite it being American fare, they quite enjoyed each dish and went back for additional helpings after giving a small initial taste of each item. Our visit to Mustards Grill ended up being a joyous meal where my parents got more exposure to the wonders of quality American cuisine as well as marked a good start to the day we were spending in wine county. read more

We have driven by here countless times over the years and for scheduling or other reasons have never made it in until this last trip to Napa. Sort of our last stop before hitting the road of our 1 night in Napa that lasted 4 nights. Just couldn't seem to get the car pointed in that direction. We pulled in without a reservation and were promptly seated. The place was busy but not completely packed. First up for drinks I think Andrea had a sparking flight and I just had some champs. The wine list is one of the most extensive I think we've ever seen. Later moved onto some reds. We weren't really hungry but needed something for the trip home so ordered some Mac and cheese and an avocado tostada type thing to split. It was massive. No way either of us could have finished one on our own. People came and went and we were still there. We finished with a lemon meringue pie with enough meringue to put you in a sugar coma for at least a week. (See pics) Obviously we didn't eat all that. I don't think anyone does. Time to go. I've heard a lot about Mustards over the years from friends who all raved about it, but for some reason, despite countless trips to Napa, it never quite made it onto our itinerary until a few weeks ago. We came in with no reservation, and happily, were still seated right away. After we got situated, I realized we had in fact been to a Mustards before - at their location in SFO airport! I hadn't previously made the connection, but the SFO Mustards was in fact somewhat of a ritual for us back in the day when we traveled more. We would pop into Mustards before flying out, or upon arrival - we're the only people we know that like to hang out in airports after a flight, but that's just our thing. But back to the Mustards in Napa. We were given our menus to look over. Their by-the-bottle wine menu, with the appropriate heading of 'Way Too Many Wines' is definitely one of the most extensive I've ever seen. Something for every taste and budget. The food menu at first glance appeared meat-heavy, but upon closer inspection I landed on a few vegetarian options that looked promising. We weren't super hungry, so we opted to share the grilled avocado tostada, and the macaroni & cheese. Both dishes were delicious, especially the tostada, loaded with sweet potato, black beans, avocado, and cabbage-jicama slaw - so tasty and satisfying. Comfort food with an upscale twist. I enjoyed their flight of sparkling wines; all three were very good, with the Domaine Carneros being my favorite. Our server was very nice and never rushed us despite our usual leisurely pace. After our meal, we felt like a little something sweet, so we ordered the lemon merengue pie. There was at least half a foot of merengue on the pie - great for visuals, not so much for your blood sugar. We left most of the merengue on the plate, but the pie was very good. Everything was satisfying, and we would return. The dining room is smaller than I would have expected, so even though we got lucky without a resie, I would recommend making one. read more

After 30 plus years Mustards Grill can still ring the bell. You walk in and you feel like you've never missed today it's always. It's always the same vibe and feeling and believe me that's a good thing. There's always so much activity and and loudness and an energy but a lot of restaurants lack but not so here. We were shown to a lovely table and welcomed by Eric our server for the evening. He's an absolute pro. he's actually waited on us several times on past occasions. We started off with a fantastic martini, led by the Ahi appetizer, the famous pork chop for me and the seafood tostada for my wife. I absolutely have to give this place 5 stars! First tip: Come early. Mustards Grill on the weekend, gets packed --- and gets packed fairly quickly. We had reservations for 11AM, by the time it was 11:30AM, about 85% of the restaurant was filled. By noon? All the tables were taken! Come early, get seated, relax. Service: We had the privilege of having Dwight be our server this afternoon. He was an absolute gem who loves his job, and loves what he does. He explained to us the specials, and some of the dishes he liked; he was a big help! We settled on a few things: the chicken wings (a MUST-HAVE; they are smoked first --- then fried; then tossed in a bit of a sweet seasoning --- it hits all the taste buds!). We also got the sweet potatoes --- good, nothing to write mom about. In addition, I had to get the famous Mongolian Porkchops. Dwight suggested to get it medium (I was a bit apprehensive --- it is pork), but always "trust the chef". So I did. My meal was EXCELLENT. The porkchop was perfectly grilled with some charred bits, and the meat was tender and juicy. Thank you Dwight for your suggestion! All-in-all, Mustards Grill is a MUST if you're ever staying in the Napa Valley. They received a Michelin Star in 2025, and if you try their food, you can clearly see why. Kristie the hostess was so kind to find us a great table after waiting a few minutes since we didn't have reservations. The place was hopping. Mustards grill has a true California wine country feel. All seating is close to each other. The chatter is loud but acceptable because this place must be a landmark by now. It opened in the 1980's and still going strong. We ordered the Ahi burger it was delicious and it came with large amount of fries we also ordered 2 non-alcoholic sodas that went well with the meal. The portion was great we skipped dessert but observed others and they serve hefty portions of dessert. Maybe next time. Mustards Grill is a very Joyful restaurant, perhaps with all the yellow decor, it shines like the sun. All employees were great from Kristie, Eliana, 2 bussers and our waitress which I didn't catch her name til I saw it on the receipt. We will be back with a favorite bottle of Napa wine of our choice. The sign on the front of the store does not lie. Get the pork chops or you'll regret it. Seriously, where do I even start? The pork chop melts in your mouth like butter. Cooked perfectly, with beautiful char marks and incredible juiciness, every bite bursts with flavor. It honestly felt like I was eating the pork chop version of köttbullar. Look it up kids. The perfect bite was a mash-up of potatoes, pork chop, and cabbage. See what I did there? Mash-up. I'll be here all day. And I can't forget the onion straws. OMG. We decided to go to Napa/St Helena for the after the holidays on a Funday Sunday! We drove all around through all of our favorite wineries. After all the fun, we chose Mustards Grill before heading home. When we arrived, we noticed an archway with a Christmas tree in the middle. We stopped to admire a beautiful garden. There is an area that looked like the outdoor garden dining. We said we needed to come back when it warms up to enjoy a meal with a beautiful view! As we entered, we were greeted with a smile and cheerful voice. At first, we were offered a seat in the bar area. We opted to wait for a table. There's nothing wrong with the bar area. We just needed a more comfortable seating for our bad backs!! We ordered the famous Mongolian Pork Chop and the Swordfish Tostada. Both meals were delicious. The sweet and sour red cabbage was excellent and a nice compliment to the pork chop. Our server was kind and helpful with all of our questions. He checked in and refilled our glass like clockwork. Best food we have had in Napa/Sonoma County since my mom moved here. My family is really glad we found this place. We went for dinner on my last night visiting my mom. We were able to book on OpenTable just a few days before, which made making the reservation easy. Upon entering, the restaurant was full and had a classic bistro vibe. Everyone was dressed nicely but not too fancy. You definitely want to wear a nice shirt and dress up a bit if you are coming here for dinner. We were seated at a round table, which provided plenty of space to talk and enjoy our meal. As a starter, we ordered the onion rings. They were fantastic! Perfectly seasoned, and the homemade ketchup was delightful. The portion was large, but we had no problem finishing them because they were excellent. I had the veggie tostada. It had a good spicy kick that I really enjoyed. I am not sure if it was the salsa or the California chilies (red jalapeños) that gave it that heat. My sister had the famous pork chop and said it was the best she had ever had. My mom had the lamb, and she said it was divine. She also got some mashed potatoes to share, and the garlic flavor and texture were both delicious. We ordered two desserts and coffee to finish the meal. The lemon tart was fantastic! I have not had meringue this good since I was in French culinary school. I would come here for this tart alone. The coffee was a delicious close to the meal along with the dessert. We will most definitely be back to bring my husband and enjoy more family meals together. LOVED this place! We were on a Girl's trip to Napa and one in our group had been here more than 20 years ago and every time we drove by, she said, "we've got to go there!" Well reservations were tough to get so we made this our final lunch stop as we were heading out of Napa to the airport. We were promptly seated and began to look at the menu. Our server, Dana, was great and when she saw us eyeballing all the other tables to see what looked good- she suggested we just order a range of things and share. And that's exactly what we did! We had the Ahi and crackers, ribs, wings, onion rings, and tamales and a truffle tart for dessert. All came up quickly and all were delicious although know before you go that the onion rings are more like onion strings so it you are expecting thick onion rings you may be disappointed. Throw in a few drinks and we were happy campers! I'm definitely going to put Mustards Grill at the top of my list the next time I am in Napa! Speaking of chops... the Mongolian pork chop is famous. Okay... everything is famous but this is an extra famous item :-) But of course we started with appetizers. It was a long, fun day of wine tasting with family visiting from the South of France, and we were all looking forward to dinner. We started with Little Gem Caesar and fig burrata--both beautifully presented and bursting with fresh flavors that truly showcased the kitchen's attention to detail. On the recommendation of our sommelier (whose palate we trusted enough to cancel a reservation at Ad Hoc), our party arrived around 6 to find the place pleasantly swarming. Shortly after getting seated, we ordered and started the meal with crab cakes, Caesar salad, and a wildly sweet honey cornbread. Our cornbread, aptly prepended with the word honey, straddles the line between side dish and dessert. It's good but cloyingly sweet. The Caesar was textbook and our crab cakes, though tasty, suffers slightly under a too-generous mayo dollop. The arugula accompaniment, however, was a welcome peppery counterpoint to the crab cake. The mains are where Mustards flex. We shared a rosy, crisp-skinned duck as well as a pork chop which we collectively deemed the clear winner. It's juicy, deeply flavorful, and balanced by a bright, pickled cabbage. The unsung hero though is the gratis baguette, allegedly from Bouchon Bakery, that was crusty and criminally good. Slow service is all but forgiven amidst the perpetual high volume of content diners. I will say that Mustards isn't reinventing the wheel but it's well-oiled and slightly wine-soused, all great additions to a wonderful Napa agenda. read more

We looked forward to a return to this restaurant on our stay in wine country. We honeymooned here 38 years ago and came to this same place back then. We had reservations for 12:40 and arrived within 5 minutes. There was a decent line which we passed by to our table. Our hostess brought us a severing of sparkling as a thank you for returning and celebrating our anniversary. Our server Jason filled our water glasses and asked if we had any questions on the menu. Came to Mustards Grill for lunch and WOW..this place understands food on a spiritual level. The pork chop? Hands down the best pork chop I've ever had. Ever. I'm still thinking about it. We also ordered the duck (phenomenal) and the lemon meringue pie, which was the perfect sweet ending to an already incredible meal. Honestly, every single dish hit. No notes for the kitchen. Zero. Standing ovation. Now... the service. Or rather, the concept of service. Our waiter, seemed to be playing an advanced game of hide-and-seek. We saw him just enough to confirm he was real, but not enough to ask follow-up questions, order another drink, or emotionally process how good that pork chop was. For our appetizers/sides, we ordered the onion rings, calamari, and crab cakes - the onion rings were crispy and plentiful, the calamari was mixed with a delicious curry slaw, and the crab cakes felt fresh! Our entrees were the pork chop and baby back ribs. The pork chop was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of seasoning and tenderness. The ribs unfortunately were a bit of a letdown - not as tender as expected and lacking a punch of flavor. Our server explained the specials of the day well but service was average overall. When in Napa, you have to go to Mustard's (on the beat). They never let me down. The old truck stop turned restaurant serves my people. They are always upbeat and happy. In never seen a more joyous people... and they were working NYE. We just got the basics this time. Bacon cheese burger? Wings and fries. Came out hot and delicious. The one different thing we tried was this heavenly apple cinnamon, cake thingy topped with ice cream... and it was good !! Dwight was an awesome sever. Service: The hostess and servers were warm and welcoming. They remembered it's our anniversary and reserved a beautiful and spacious seating for us. Gave us complimentary wine and split all the appetizers into halves for us to share. What a thoughtful gesture! Food: So unique and wonderfully executed! Their famous pork chop was worth all the hype! We also loved the black bean tortilla soup, corn tamales, 3 greens salad, the oven smoked duck, lime tart dessert and a flight of Pinot. Had a 4:15 Sunday reservation and were seated immediately. Looked over the very extensive wine and liquor menu. We ordered two flights of Pinot Noir. Ver good choice. For an appetizer we shared a three lettuce salad. Outstanding. I had the ribs with cole slaw and corn bread. Not fantastic, but good. My husband had the duck which he said was dry. I recently visited Mustard's Grill fresh out of surgery while also celebrating my birthday, and the experience was absolutely top tier. Before my surgery, I had been very active in my chauffeuring career, which recently took off. I'm constantly driving people up and down the Valley to different wineries, and their itineraries often include restaurants I've never personally tried. Mustard's Grill was one of those spots that immediately piqued my interest -- and I'm glad it did. First off, the place is beautiful. It has its own private garden where they source ingredients farm-to-table, which is incredible. Fresh vegetables grown right from their own soil, literally on the side of the parking lot -- that alone is a huge win. The garden also makes for an amazing backdrop for photos. My fiancée and I took some great pictures out there before going in to dine. I didn't make a reservation and was able to walk right in, which was a pleasant surprise given how packed the place gets. I definitely recommend making a reservation, but the fact that walk-ins are still possible is a big plus in my book, especially in the Valley where that can be hard to come by. As for the food -- 10 out of 10 across the board. We had the pork chop, halibut, onion rings, and crab cakes, and every single dish was a hit. Highly recommend all of them. If you look around the dining room, you'll notice the same thing: nearly every table has those pork chops, those crab cakes, and a mountain of onion rings. That alone tells you everything you need to know. The atmosphere is great. It can get a little crowded, so if you're even slightly claustrophobic, I'd suggest asking for one of the booths in the back, which are more spacious and comfortable. Inside, the setting is warm and inviting -- neutral tones, wood everywhere, very well done. They also have an excellent selection of wines and beers, both on tap and bottled. The overall vibe feels like a boutique restaurant, but still very proper and polished. Another thing I really appreciate is their rotating special menu, which changes based on availability and keeps things fresh. You never quite know what you're going to get, but you know it's going to be something special -- always a plus. All around, Mustard's Grill is a fantastic spot with great food, great vibes, and a beautiful setting. If I could give one million out of one million, I would -- but since I can't, it's an easy five out of five. read more

"Sorry, Everything Tastes Delicious" listed on the menu could not be more true! We had many locals recommend Mustards Grill and it did not disappoint! My husband and I stopped by for lunch service. There was about a 25 minute wait which was no problem. We got seated at a small, intimate, corner table in the main dining area. We were quickly greeted by our servers but it took some time for him to be able to round back to us. Missy, the manager, stepped in to help out. We ordered the DG Manhattan to share which they kindly put into two glasses for us! We shared a wide variety of dishes and everything tasted phenomenal! Our favorites were the Onion Rings and Adult Grilled Cheese but you could not go wrong with anything here! Pricing on menu items was extremely fair for quality of food. I would easily list this as a Must Visit when in the Oakville area! read more

A couple of friends and I made a stop in at Mustards. It was the first week of January, so getting in on the reservation books was very easy as Napa is a ghost town. For starters, we ordered the Crispy Calamari and the Crazy Good Chicken Wings. The chicken wings were nothing out of the ordinary. However, the Crispy Calamari was out of the park. I don't know if it was the curried slaw or what, but the entire group finished both appetizers. Now on to the main course. Two of us ordered the Famous Mongolian Pork Chop. Wow! This was the best Pork Chop I ever had! It was so fresh, juicy and of course tasty. The sweet and sour red cabbage with the homemade mustard was great too. Our other friend ordered the Market Steak and he had no complaints. All three of us finished our plates and almost started to lick it clean, but we realized we were in Napa and that wouldn't have been appropriate. All three of us will definitely be coming back in the very near future. read more
