I came here just for a drink on recommendation from my server at dinner. I was impressed with their cocktail menu and had trouble picking from the list. Inside is cozy with first come first serve seating.

I try to visit Goose & Gander whenever I'm in St. Helena. Their burger is incredible, the cocktails are expertly crafted, and the bone marrow appetizer is rich and memorable. The steaks are cooked perfectly and worth the trip on their own. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with beautiful seating areas both indoors and outside. Never had a negative experience with service. Always a fantastic experience.

What an amazing spot--so worth the wait! The food was outstanding, even though we were already full from lunch... we still couldn't resist sharing a few plates, and every bite was worth it. Walking in feels like stepping into someone's home--cozy, welcoming, and spotless. The service was fantastic, and the overall vibe made us want to linger. Here's a fun little secret: there's a speakeasy downstairs! And the story behind The Martini House makes it even more special. Built in 1923 by Walter Martini for him and his wife Dionisia, the charm of that Craftsman bungalow still shines through. Some even say Walter still makes his presence known in the building! All in all, a memorable experience from start to finish. We'll definitely be back!

Some of the best food I've had in all of St. Helena! We came on a holiday weekend for the Fourth of July and had a lovely time here. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We sat outside and were sat by a beautiful fountain that made our dinner relaxing. Everything from the drinks to our actual dinner were delicious. I highly recommend anything with their delicious shrimp or adding it to your main entree!

My girlfriend and I had a date night out here on 11/26/2024. It was our second time. The first time, we did takeout; this time, we decided to dine in because we liked the kind of ambiance. It doesn't feel uptight but is mellow and warm. We ordered a couple of appetizers (pig ears & corn croquettes) and shared a couple of entrees (lamb pappardelle and the G&G burger). We both enjoyed all of our food. My favorite was the pig ears. They have an extremely long wine list with wine from all of the world. I ordered a local Sauvignon Blanc by the glass (from Charles Krug Winery). I liked it and thought it was priced right/reasonably. The service was friendly and professional. We mentioned we would share the entrees, and they cut the burger in half for us (without being asked) A turn off, I have to say, was that our waiter spoke too loud almost to the extend that it killed the atmosphere. That I would like to see changed, but we enjoyed everything else.

Oh my gosh! What can I say about this place? 1st parking isn't readily available, I don't think as this time we went during night time; however, circling around to find parking, I could smell the yummy goodness. Hubby ended up dropping me and my son off since I was wearing heals and it was off/on raining. We walking in and the, I think manager or owner was help an elderly Cpl. showing where they could park and the easiest way to get inside. That was nice seeing that. After that, my son and I were greeted by the hostess who wish me a happiest of birthdays. After she seated us, my husband was there. Hugo greeted me a happy birthday as well and gave us birthday menus. We took some time to decide on cocktails and appetizers. Our server was very patient and courteous. While he put in for our drinks and wings, we were deciding what to get while taking in the ambiance. Out came our drinks and wings, then we ordered a Cpl of burgers and a steak for the birthday girl. Wings were finger licking fire. Hubby loved his clear ice cube in his old fashioned and my cucumber Collin's was awesome too. My son ordered his burger with a duck egg. He ate half up as he wanted to save room for dessert. My husband ate all his burger up. My steak was cooked to perfection but I was only able to eat half, as I too wanted to save room for dessert. For dessert we had chocolate mousse cake and apple galette then asked what dessert wine would go with the apple and Hugo recommended GL dolce which was so on point and totally enhanced the apple. As we were about to leave, the manager came over to check on us as well as wish me a happy birthday. Overall, just a fabulous birthday experience and I know we should come back more often than every 6 years but in my defense, we been out of the area for 5 of those years. Great Job to Goose and Gander.

Wow! Full belly! Lots of good wines to choose from and the portions for main dishes were pretty large. Definitely going back for the good food and excellent customer service.

I had heard that Goose & Gander was where the locals hang out which is exactly why my husband and I visited. We stopped in for an evening drink and sat off the back entrance. We loved the intimate seating, fully stocked bar, and staff hospitality. After seeing the menu, I chose to order the Fig & Fire and my husband the Rosemary-Pear Rhubarb. When I say my mezcal drink blew me away, it doesn't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed it. As a big fan of mezcal cocktails, it's hard to try something new and still feel astonished; this did just that. I also loved the duck fat fries and my husband enjoyed his gin drink. I could not recommend visiting Goose & Gander more for a great cocktail and elevated bar food bite!

We got the opportunity to meet up with one of my closest friends from Jax, Jay, during our trip and decided to grab some grub together at Goose & Gander, a Napa staple. We loved the warm cozy vibes, and sat downstairs in their basement bar. We ordered plenty of snacks, our favorites being the Stick Pig Ears & surprisingly, the Fried Olives (I'm not a huge olive fan but loved them). Such a great spot in Napa!

I've been here pre pandemic and one thing that stayed with me were their delicious duck fat fries. So at last my intentionally make my way back to Saint Helena for my duck fat fries. The service was great, we came in on a Friday evening with no ressies and were seated promptly. I was extremely underwhelmed by the food. I had a burger, asked for medium, it came out rare. I ordered a simple Cadillac margarita. The first time it came out and it taste like nothing but lime juice, the second time it was really strange. So needless to say I left with no margarita a rare burger, and the duck fat fries weren't as good as they were or at least the way I previously remembered them. Overall, we sat downstairs. It was a cool dinner. There were some hiccups, by the time we left there was an odor coming from the bathroom, it seemed like a plumbing situation was going on. Is it worth going to if you're local? Yes. Will I make the track from Fairfield back to Saint Helena just to come to Goose and Gander? No.

From the exterior, the unassuming historic craftsman style home looks simply as that. A private home with a magnificent garden in lovely St. Helena. However, step closer and you will find it has transcended into an opulent dining experience. The outdoor aesthetic begins in walking up to the front door, blanketed by the lovely garden, and scent of floral jasmine as you ascend the front steps. Stepping inside it is as if you have gone back in time with beautiful early 19th century architectural design and decor. Rich mahogany, fine leather, shiny brass. We stopped in only for a cocktail, so we made our descent to the bar below. This beautiful space boasts a speakeasy feeling with bar and hightop seating, as well as a corner booth. The bar has a plentiful list of libations, along with an impressive cocktail, spirit, and wine program. You will find a full restaurant on the main floor, as well as an outdoor patio. Gorgeous interiors throughout. Those that stay cool in warmer months, but toasty with a fireplace in the cooler ones. Perfect for date night, dinner with friends, special occasions, or any occasion for that matter. Definitely a place for the grown and sexy.

Every single thing went well at Goose & Gander. Make reservations ahead as they were very busy when we walked in. The service, staff, food, & ambiance all 5 stars! Such a treat for us coming from Hawaii and a must if you're visiting wine country

This cocktail is VERY acidic. Mostly lemonade? Could only drink half.
    Rose R.

Not sure what the hype is all about. The best thing we had were the pig ears. The mushroom soup was tasty. The cocktails were terrible. Sent 2 back and chose a different option. We left a lot of alcohol on the table. The burger was soggy and flavorless. Not sure why anyone would order the bone marrow with it. We also had the risotto and added chicken. Chicken added $15. Paying nearly $50 for risotto that was just okay? We will NOT be back. The wait staff was nice but didn't offset the poor meal.

The dining room was nearly empty, making it feel as if we had the entire place to ourselves. Service was warm, friendly, and professional without being stufy. Ambiance matches the food. You are enmeshed in a peaceful sanctuary, enveloped by the lush greenery outside. Soft, tasteful music accompanies. The food is very good, at times superb, with attractive, precise platings. Appetizers and shareables shine. Free Bread Course (5/5) - outrageously tasty. Some of the best focaccia I've had, with their absurdly good estate olive oil to dip in. Difficult to not eat too much of this. Meadowood Farms Spring Green Salad (5/5) - $22 - Ridiculously fresh vegetables picked from Meadowood's own garden. The top-level freshness reminded me of vegetables at Single Thread. We opted for the four-course prix fixe menu, and many of the dishes felt more focused on technique than flavor. Throughout the meal, several flavor combinations didn't work and many dishes leaned either salty, one-note, or bland. APPETIZERS Chips and dip: This consisted of salmon skin paired with what seems to be their attempt at elevated guacamole. The salmon skin could have benefited from some seasoning, while the guacamole was too citrus-forward that it overwhelmed the avocado. We were also served an asparagus welcome drink that tasted like asparagus water with light cream which did not taste good. Sumac-cured halibut: The very tart vinaigrette overpowered everything in this dish. American wagyu tartare: Overall okay. Lacked a kick that would have made it memorable. Lobster chawanmushi: Chawanmushi was silky and the lobster was perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed the green curry foam, although it leaned salty. The pickles were also quite sour. Caramelle with truffles: Delicate corn flavor, but the dish felt bland overall and the truffle was barely noticeable. ENTREES Black truffle-glazed chicken: Impressive technique with sausage stuffed beneath the skin and tender chicken. Unfortunately, the sausage was overly salty and tart, which overpowered the chicken and any truffle flavor. This was supposed to be some kind of award-winning dish, but it didn't live up to its reputation. King salmon: The biggest disappointment of the meal. We were told king salmon is fattier than a salmon like sockeye, but the cuts were lean. We were also told it would be served mostly raw with a sear. It came to us with very little sear and no seasoning we could appreciate. It also came with a cucumber-based sauce which added little flavor. Overall, this was a bland and uninspired dish. It might as well have been served like sashimi for a more enjoyable experience. DESSERTS Smoked yogurt panna cotta: Refreshing but lacked any noticeable smokiness. Vanilla and champagne parfait: Overpowered by the alcohol. At the end of the meal, they gave us calamansi jelly and bonbons. The jelly was so sour it was nearly mouth-puckering. The bonbon was fine. To the restaurant's credit, the pacing of dish service was good and courses arrived in a timely manner without a huge gap in between them. Michelin-starred restaurants can be a hit or miss and, unfortunately, PRESS falls into the latter category for us.
