Thought we'd give their new second location just opened on Rivermont Avenue next to Randolph College Sunday night. As we walked in the first thing we saw was a sign that warned this location was a work in progress and not to expect much. Then we noticed it was stifling hot, and the place was packed with people. The greeter showed us to an adjacent room she said had air...it, too, was packed and stifling. She sat us outside and the flies were on all the tables and it was hot! Hard to believe they opened with no air conditioning on a hot and humid August weekend. The menu looked great, but we will give it a try when we hear they finally have air. read more

Anytime I see a place with a veggie burger I get so excited to try it. We were recommended this place by some friends and went to check it out. My husbands food was amazing and very spicy which is how he likes it. My pretzels and cheese were also amazing. The veggie burger is where things went bad. It was so mushy that even though it had good flavor I couldn't fully enjoy it. It had the texture of mashed potatoes which was not what you want in a burger. I will be going back but only for the sides. I do not recommend the veggie burger at all. read more

This was the first time we have been to the new location. As with the old one service was lacking. We were seated on the patio and waited 20 minutes with no acknowledgement. We left. My boyfriend and I ate there last night. The burger was good, nothing to rave about I have had better but I have had worse also. The fries were perfect- crispy on the outside while being perfect on the inside. We had the jalapeno bottle caps which comes with the Brau sauce, the sauce was great, the jalapeno's ... perhaps fried a little too long. What impressed me the most, and don't laugh, was the cole slaw! As soon as the waitress set my plate down I could tell it was fresh homemade. I would go back just for that. Love! I have been to Brauburgers several times, and I have never had a bad experience. The food is always fresh and hot, and the service is always friendly and attentive. The restaurant is small inside, so there is somewhat limited seating, but the atmosphere is warm and inviting with a hint of sports bar. The craft beer menu is mostly different each time I have been, which I love for the variety and chance to try several different local beers. Definitely one of my top favorite places in the Forest/Lynchburg area. read more

My husband and I just added this place to our list! Unfortunately, when we typically go, it's a Monday and so a lot of their speciality beers are out. The bartender that works on Mondays though, is super knowledgeable, and he's always able to find something comparable when the beer we want is out. I just ate at this establishment as I was visiting friends. I ordered the wings, yes I'm aware it is a burger joint. Upon receiving the wings they appeared to be either the frozen Tyson's or TGIF'S that were later dipped in Frank's Hot Sauce. Not only was I able to ascertain this from the mushy and fatty quality of the wings themselves but also the cold frozen centers of the bone in wings. I'm not trying to say I'm a wing expert, but I have had wings across many states and at many different establishments. Never in my time eating wings have I ever received such low quality, sub standard wings. The fact that this place is cutting corners on wings, when they are arguably one of the easiest things to prepare, really leads me to believe that this is a substandard restaurant. I fear for those that ever have to look inside of the kitchen. read more

I have been going to Brauburgers since they opened in the shopping center next door and obviously they are constantly in transition. When they first opened, you placed an order at the cash register and they brought it out to you but you had to pay for 2nd beers separately. A real pain if you are a beer drinker. Then it was more traditional restaurant but the place was packed because it was so small. Now they moved and I had high hopes. Visited on a week night and got seated rather quickly but it was over 10 mins before somebody showed up at our table. On top of it, our table wasn't 100% clean and there were flies all over the place even though we were inside. Not a good start. Our server finally showed up and she was friendly and came by often after that. Our burgers were good but the side servings were woefully small (see picture). My German potato salad was awesome but way too small. I'll probably give them another try to see if they have improved because I like their food and the beer selection. read more

So my wife and some family go there to eat and order 12 boneless wings to go. When she gets home the box has 12 bone in wings. She goes back to the restaurant and tries to get the order corrected, she comes home and the box has 6 bone in wings. So they cut the order by 6 and they are still bone in. She calls the restaurant and explains the problem and then goes back for a third time, walks in and someone tells her they are out of wings and then a waitress walks out with 12 boneless wings, Finally! So after about 2 hours and 3 trips all they want to know is, have they been paid for. All of this and there was no manager involvement. Very poor customer service! read more

I have been waiting awhile for a real burger place to come to Forest. Since their opening, I have been several times and I really enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Sure it may be a little expensive for lunch but the high prices come with it being a "craft" restaurant and I am not sure most people understand that. Most of the time I can get a burger, fries and slaw for around $8-$9 but the drink is not included. So if you want a drink it will run you around $12. Also, my wife has had the Reuben and the Bratwurst and she really enjoys both of them. The only negative thing about the restaurant is the wait staff. The wait staff has always been friendly each time but they always seem to behind, whether it be taking orders or waiting on customers who are already eating. If you are crunched for time during lunch then this may not be the best place to go, unless you put in an order ahead of time or go during odd hours. Hopefully people who did not have a good experience will give them another try because I think they will get better over time. read more

It was ok. I was disappointed overall. It's a burger restaurant and yet there were 2 burger choices on the menu. One with cheese and one without. There should be more choices. Chef choices, specialty burgers etc. if they are going to arrange the menu as a "Create your own" then they should give some suggestions. also the coleslaw was Terrible, It was definitely not house made. The burger patty was definitely premade and not very tasty, I asked for my green peppers to be grilled and they weren't. The service wasn't very timely and our waitress never refilled our waters. Lynchburg needs a great Burger and beer joint but this was just half done. I hope they make some improvements because I am hopeful! read more

First time at Brauburgers recently. In a nutshell, the place is OK and I am sure at some point I will go back, hoping for better. The hostess/servers were all great. The decor was a bit odd, as if the owners weren't exactly sure what they really wanted the vibe to be. Cardboard animal heads, old travel inspired bits and pieces, sort of industrial lighting, lots of TVs everywhere... not sure what they were going for. But I will say that at least they tried... many places around Lynchburg seem to think a fresh coat of paint and a couple of paintings are considered good decor (its not). Long list of beers, but they were out of the first 3 we tried to order. So the list wasn't actually impressive since they seemed to be out of many on the list. Ordered boneless wings... they were meh, mostly breading. I ordered a mushroom and swiss burger... burger itself was tasty but I never tasted any mushrooms and I can't say that the cheese on my burger was actually swiss, so can't give it more than a 'just OK' rating. Wife had the Bratwurst and she said it was just also just OK... said the bratwurst was barely warm and the bun was low quality. The rosemary fries we ordered had zero rosemary taste to them, so they were less-than-OK. We wanted to like the place but the first impression wasn't all that great... it was just OK. read more

I had a draft Bent Mountain IPA(excellent but cost $5.00) wife had ice tea. The burgers were not very thick and underdone to our tastes, pink inside. Prefer ours done/not overdone(no pink). Burgers were very lean, no noticeable seasoning thus tasted very bland. Nothing great here! All the sides, jalapeño buttons, fries and coleslaw were obviously prepackaged institutional type stuff. The coleslaw was actually really gross, could not eat it. Bottom line, nothing special here and way overpriced. Drove 30 miles to try this place, but not worth it read more

Went to Brauburger on a Friday night was seated immediately in the enclosed patio. After 10 minutes we still didn't have a waitress come and take a drink order. Meanwhile we did see another waitress help customers a table over mulitiple times. No one acknowledged us or sent a waitress/waiter to our table. A few minutes later a couple was seated at a table next to us, moments after that a waitress came and introduced herself and took their drink order! This was our cue to get up and leave. This was very disappointing! I've had a good experience here before so talked my dad into going even though he had had a bad experience here previously, however I wished I hadn't talked him into going; both our burgers came out flat and burnt they looked like dollar burgers from McDonalds. They were remade and at least weren't burnt this time, then I asked for a to go milkshake, but all the girls working were too concerned with chatting in their little group instead of tending to the guests. Over 20 minutes went by where I still didn't have my milkshake yet they were able to make some for themselves. We would have just left but we had already paid. I asked to speak to the manager and the girls acted like they couldn't go get her and scrambled saying oh we are making your milkshake now to which I replied I want to speak to the manager as I've already asked. Finally the manager comes over who didn't seem much older than the girls and was nice and apologized but at that point it was clear to me my dad was right about this place if you actually want a good burger and good service don't go here or at least not this location! We ended up getting our money back which wasn't my intention for complaining however it was the right thing to do. I've never experienced such bad customer service in my life! read more

It seems like Brauburger just cannot quite get things right. We've tried them twice now and don't plan to go back. The service can be SO SO slow, your order isn't right even when it's a simple order, don't expect a refill on your soda, when you get your food it's cold. I guess the only reason they stay busy is because of the beer and all the TVs. Portions on the specials are what you'd expect for a kids meal -- tiny. The food isn't anything special and when you get it cold it's not that tasty either. The food is edible, but not appealing. I expect much more for the price of a gourmet burger at this establishment. If you wanna drink alcohol, hang out with your gang, and maybe watch some sports this place might still be for you. read more

We were there 2 whole hours on July 3. Waitress kept disappearing. At some point she promised us that the kitchen folks were plating our food at that moment. Then we didn't see her for about 20 minutes. When half the orders finally arrived they were lukewarm. Terrible service. It took her 4 trips finally to bring water refills. She offered a list of apologies and excuses, then promised to put in new orders and get the manager. Alas, we never saw her again. The manager didn't come to our table either to sort things out. We waited another 15 to 20 minutes, finally gave up and left. There were others leaving at the same time, didn't get served either. The hostess did comp our drinks when we tried to pay for them. The burgers are good -better than Benjamin's across the street. I have not had any of the brats, etc. They have quite a few microbrews on tap, including the local Forest microbrewery -Apocalypse Ale. However, the service is only fair. I've waited until my fries were cold for a server to bring a bottle of ketchup, because the one on the table was empty. The atmosphere is not so great. It's noisy and there's no place for people to wait when they have no tables available. Recently, I walked in to order a carry out a burger on Friday evening. The carry out counter said that they "no longer provide carry out on Fridays from 6-8pm", because it "backs up the kitchen". Really?? Isn't that why you're in business?? The place is run by amateurs who woke up one day and decided they'd start a beer and burger joint -then they hired their friends to serve the customers! Ordered food in plenty of time for carry out. Upon arrival there was no one at the front to greet customers coming in. When someone did finally come to the front they went to check on the food to see if it was ready. This took over 10 minutes. Upon returning staff could not use my credit card at the front and stated he had to go to the back to use the register.. In five minutes or so he returned with another person to use the same front register and again it did not work. They went back again .I waited another 10 minutes.My food had been sitting on the counter the entire time. The most distressing factor was none of the employees or Servers never spoke to me or asked me if I need assistance. I value customer service and I would rate this episode is poor. We have dined in this establishment at other times. It is sad that I have this impression as my last. I would mention that the young man who did wait on me was very kind and very professional and apologized. But he was the only one. read more
