Giving Nacho Grill a try I wanted to order several items, so I got the Kids Nachos with barbacoa and extra beans. I'm so glad I got the kiddie portion because it was enough for two meals. Packed with flavor, the barbacoa was the star of the meal. The Bean Burrito was fat with beans, refried beans, and more beans along with a thick layer of cheese. Far superior to my flat Taco Bell favorite, the beans themselves were delicious on their own. Finally, the Chips and Queso cost a star. The chips were good, hot, crisp, fresh, but the queso was awful. No flavor at all, thin, and honestly not as good as queso from a jar. I love me the chips -- slightly oily, perfectly salted and unlike any other chips ive had before. The steak fajitas were awesome! The steak was sliced very thinly (never seen anything this thin) but I appreciated this because you could have every ingredient on each forkful and really enjoy the dimension of the dish and each flavor. I visted Nacho's before a night out in Hopkins. And I can say, I made the right choice! So I went back. More than once. There just aren't a ton of good options in the SLP/Hopkins area for Mexican food. But Nacho's IS a good/great option! From personal experience - the tacos and enchiladas are worthwhile. The menu is surprisingly expansive. So if you are a burrito or quesadilla person, be my guest. You will probably like it too. My votes - taste/flavor: good. Chips/salsa: good. Tell them you like it spicy, and they will help get you what you are looking for. That passes my test. Maybe it isn't my favorite if I could go ANYWHERE, but it is quality and an absolute value. We swung into Nacho's for dinner on a weeknight and enjoyed our experience overall. You order at the counter, and the employee taking our order was friendly and patient as we decided what we wanted to eat. The space itself was quite large offering a seat yourself environment. I will say our table was a bit sticky and not from being dirty but the varnish or sealant on the top needs to be refinished. To eat, we opted for the enchiladas, chicken fajitas and chips and salsa. Their chips were great which is a such a key piece to a positive Mexican restaurant experience. My fajitas were fine...kind of bland but fine. The enchiladas were good but not the best we've ever had. As a positive, the beans and rice that accompanied both dishes were awesome. We stopped at this place for lunch on a rainy Saturday. There is street parking and a few spots in the back but the back spots were full so we parked in the ramp and came in through the back door. We ordered nachos to share and I ordered 3 tacos (pastor, asada, carnitas). My BF ordered the steak quesadilla. We were really impressed with the volume of meat that was on the tacos and quesadilla. There was a thick layer in the quesadilla and the tacos were overflowing with meat which I feel like you don't see very often. The asada and pastor were super tasty and I would definitely get again. The carnitas wasn't terribly flavorful, so I would likely try a different meat before doing the carnitas. The salsa that comes with the tacos is a green salsa and it was really tasty. Not very spicy but it had a great flavor which was awesome! The nachos were really good, however the cheese sauce wasn't hot which was a bit disappointing. They have so many toppings you could order more chips and have ample toppings. I would recommend ordering with no lettuce since it was a lot! read more

It comes with some forgettable rice and refried beans. Also tried the tinga enchilada and that was good too. It comes with the same beans and rice. Both of these entrees are $10.99. Their tacos are good. We got two with chicken at $2.50 each. We ordered some chips, guacamole, salsa and queso as sides. Their salsa verde is really good. The queso, not very good, don't order this. Went back to Nacho's now firmly ensconced in their new location. I observed that the newer destination is much more sleek than the old. What hasn't changed is the generous, well prepared and fresh selections. Order off the chalkboard menu mounted above the register and find an open table. In short order you'll be enjoying your meal. I understand that Nacho's is still a local (non-chain) establishment. The service was cordial (despite my clumsy effort to speak a smattering of Spanish phrases), prompt and accommodating. To me, Nacho's continues to shine in an ever expanding ethnic food scene found throughout the western 'burbs. read more

We originally went into wild bar to eat but it was packed and saw this cute Mexican place next door. No one was in there so we decided to stop in. Walked right up and ordered our food. The cashier was super nice and very friendly. We ordered the chips, salsa, guacamole and queso platter. I ordered a carne asada burrito and some quesadillas. The meat was so bland. I had really high hopes! No pico or sour cream in my burrito and I specifically asked if there was and was told yes. The salsa is a green salsa and absolutely disgusting. Couldn't even eat it. The queso was so so. Not the best but not the worst. Guacamole was alright. Had a strong citrus flavor. I did ask for a cup of ice for my drink and was told they ran out at noon on a Saturday..? All in all, I had such high hopes for this place. Unfortunately for $40 for not a lot of food is outrageous and not worth it. We will never go back. read more

As for the food, there are lots of options, written on the wall, menus, and on the counter. I'm not sure if it's all the same, but overwhelmed I just focused on the counter which included pictures. I went with the quesadilla, and while Barbacoa wasn't listed on the menu as an option, the cashier said it was. I paid $10 for a rather large quesadilla that came with pico de Gallo, sour cream, and guacamole. It was filled with flavorful meat, cheese, and the tortilla had a nice crisp. Based on the food from this one experience I would definitely return. To think, I almost left due to the cashier's standoffish behavior.
