Gil was immediately welcoming, to both of us. While I was looking for a men's watch, we all know our girls have influence! Gil offered some espresso, which was great as I'm a huge espresso guy. Then we started to explore watch options. Anywho, I was looking at a few Rolex models and trying to determine which would be the best. I didn't buy one that first visit and decided go back when I had more time. ...I went to about 4 other shops..none had the customer service Gil provided at Lux and I went back. I looked all over for watches, from HK to NYC. I am well aware of where and how tax is/is not applied. I also read up on the tax law so I was fully informed. My second stop in I was solo as my girl was traveling out of the country. Again, Gil was there and very welcoming. He explained the options of the watches, some history with a few funny stories tossed in there. I ended up buying a Rolex and over a few espressos really grew fond of it. I also decided that even with tax, buying it from a person with the right attitude and friendly nature was well worth it. I'm very happy with the Rolex and looking forward to a lifetime of wear. Please indulge me for a moment, for I would like to share my most recent experience with this team. I own a beautiful diamond and sapphire ring that my mother, who is now deceased, gave to me. I had the appraisal done by a jeweler, that I used prior to finding Dunbar. Unfortunately while on vacation one of the diamonds fell out and was lost. I wasn't too worried since I had the ring insured. I brought the ring to Michael and Hilary, along with the appraisal to have the repair completed. Unfortunately the appraisal that was given from a jeweler who will remain anonymous, was incorrect and quoted the diamonds as half their actual size. Therefore the insurance company was only willing to reimburse me for one-third of the total replacement and repair cost. Chuck and Lucy having listened to my story, offered immediately to compose a letter for me to send to my insurance company, along with the corrected appraisal. Today I was notified that because of the letter and new corrected appraisal, the total repair will be paid by the Insurance Company. Can you imagine my surprise and joy? Especially with the holiday season upon us, this additional expense was going to be difficult. I can't tell you how much I appreciate Chuck and his entire team. They did this for me, with no financial gain for them. The integrity and kindness shown by the Dunbar team will keep them forever, as my number one choice for jewelry!!!
