Against my better judgment, I gave this place a shot despite walking in and immediately noticing a giant cockroach crawling across the carpet. I told myself, things happen, maybe it wandered in, the reviews were decent, perhaps the food would make up for it. It did not. It took nearly 20 minutes for our meals to arrive. My wife ordered the quarter white meal with corn and mashed potatoes, which was fine but forgettable. My son ordered a chicken tender meal with plantains and received fries instead, after waiting that long, we did not bother sending it back. I ordered the steak bowl with plantains and black beans, and the steak was so poor I stopped eating after the second bite. To be fair, the rice was good, and the black beans and plantains were decent. Went there today may 30th to order the 6 wings, Yucatan fries and sweet plantains. When it turned 340pm I simply asked the young lady behind the countern if she knows how much longer it will be. She did not respond. Instead she turned to the other lady in the kitchen to say "i hate when they come here rushing". Second time getting a Braza Chicken meal. Better communication this time and I was notified that the meal was ready for pickup pretty much right on time. Chicken is tasty and moist, right up there with the best Peruvian chicken in the DC metro area - though the bird was a little smaller than I would have liked. Yuca, plantains and rice rounded out the meal with traditional green and white sauces. The meal was sufficient for four adults - but glad we were not especially hungry. Great flavor. Spot on service. While we did not care for the food at Braza I do want to compliment the friendly and helpful staff. They were terrific. It's clear by the 5-star reviews that Braza Chicken is popular. Keep in mind that if you are looking for authentic Peruvian food you won't find it here. I have lived and traveled all over South America and there is nothing Peruvian or even South American at Braza Chicken. The chicken was OK but it's NOT "Peruvian" chicken, which has a distinctive marinade made with Peruvian spices like black mint and aji pancha. It's also served with traditional aji verde (green pepper) sauce on the side which Braza does not offer. Unfortunately, our sides were not good. They tasted like they came from a food service like US Foods: 1. Green beans: very, very greasy and SO salty that I could not eat them. 2. Mashed potatoes: Taste like they're made from potato flakes. They are reminiscent of KFC mashed potatoes. Also: I ordered mashed potatoes with gravy (slightly more expensive) but only received plain mashed potatoes. 3. Cole slaw: a slaw mix lost in pudding-like mayonnaise. Inedible. 4. Plantains: Not bad but tasted like a sweetener was added (not typical). read more

If you like Latin rotisserie style chicken it will not disappoint. I had the half chicken and plátanos maduros and yuca frita. I was impressed with the skin flavor and the seasoning of the chicken. I will begin with good: *Food portions great *Food seasoned well Not so good things: *We waited 40 minutes for the food even though we placed a pick up order. I think food was ready but no one brought food to us *Our order for was four - steak bowl, steak burrito, chicken bowl, kids chicken tenders, 2 beef empanada , 2 chicken empanada ($$$). We were missing one empanada and one chicken tender *The chicken was burnt on edges and tasted bitter. We also picked 1 chicken empanadas and an extra side of garlic sauce and salsa verde. The chicken was flavorful and fairly moist and the addition of the pico and salsa verde really elevated the dish. The empanada was packed with shredded chicken, tomatoes, peppers, and raisins and was incredibly flavorful and was not greasy despite it having been fried. Braza reminds me of viva chicken in charlotte and Alpaca in Durham NC. The chicken was super tender and juicy and the sides definitely surprised me. The French fries were basic crinkle cut but I tried the green beans and corn and they were both really good. They had a nice charred flavor and spices. The green beans were cooked the way I like them, not too soft but not too hard, had a nice crunch. The corn was crunchy, cooked perfectly, and paired well with the chicken and green beans. I didn't taste the mashed potatoes myself but my bf said it was really good with the chicken gravy and gave it nice flavor. The only complaint I have is the only one they have is on St Andrews and I live 20 mines away so I only came to try it because I was already on that side of town at the mall. We got the family meal which is 2 whole chickens and four sides for $49.99. I got all the way home to find out they only gave me one chicken. I called to ask if two chickens fit in one container and the lady said no I was supposed to get two so she took my name and asked if I could come back today. Now normally I wouldn't bother especially cuz it took 20 minutes to get there, but I had 6 other ppl to feed and that was $50 bucks. So I went and got it, they were very quick to get my chicken to me and they were so nice about it and the lady recognized me immediately considering I was just there (normally ppl would forget you).
