My 78 year old moms birthday dinner was ruined by poor service. I also got big bites from the tattered dirty upholstered seats. It ruined her birthday. Offered to come back for a meal and the wait staff caused the manager to think we were scammers and we were accused of being fat, overeating, lying, and our service again was horrible. My mom has cancer and this night we were having was fun and special as we talked about our trip to Ireland. It was all ruined when the manager had been lied to by the waitstaff a xusi f is of coming in every Sunday to scam them on their fish fries. We had never been there on a Sunday day and bar manager verbally attacked us.... never been spoken to ever and my 78 year old cancer stricken mother was crying and I told the manager and she said so what and who cares. It still hurts my mom. We were offered a free meal but the new owners won't honor this and have been rude and patronizing at best. We could have a bowl of soup and talk to her about it. My mom was ripped to shreds. Moments with her are precious and her birthday was ruined and the wait staff ruined the apology. Now the owners can't even show true compassion and instead insults my hurt mom even more. The place is dirty and the bathroom was and is in need of fixing as so many stalls don't work. The seats are so dirty. The bands are too loud and now after being called fat by the manager and my mom being hurt. All we get offered is soup .... not worth it. Especially since the seats are disgusting and again I ended up with big bites. Beware. read more

Three stars for the ambience and drinks. Love the furniture, wood and private room. We tried the toad in a hole, linn stew, boxty, corn beef sandwich, artichoke dip and Irish cream. I don't use a lot of salt when I cook. The gravy on the toad was so salty that I could not eat more than four spoonfuls. The stew was too thick and rich. I had three spoonfuls. You could taste whisky in the stew. The artichoke dip was good. The best dish we ordered but it only had a couple pieces of artichoke. It should be called cheese dip. The bread was very good. Service was not good and not completely poor. The drinks were very good. It is not a great place for food but great for drinks. Not sure I would return. read more

Just recently went here today, but I've been here 3 or 4 times during happy hour. I've tried a few of the appetizers including the Omagh Onion Rings, Artichoke Dip, and Waffle Fries. For main courses I've had the Bangers and Mashed, and the Reuben sandwich. All of the food has always been pretty good. The speed of the service seems completely random, it can be slow or fast regardless of how busy they are; however despite the speed discrepancies the staff has always been friendly and attentive. The decor seems pretty authentic, though I've never been to an actual Irish Pub so I can't say for sure if it is 100% authentic. The prices on drinks and food are pretty decent during happy hour. Overall I enjoy coming here, and will be back every so often. I'm only knocking one star off because of the inconsistent speed of service. read more

The Brazen Head is best for their beer choices. Some of the food is pretty good, including the fish and chips, which is hard to find done well in the Midwest. I'd rank the B.H. a little below the Dundee Dell, but certainly respectable. Other dishes didn't do much for me, but then, British pub food is hardly gourmet. :-) But the beer ... they have a lot of choices, including "mixed" beers (black-and-tan, snakebite, etc.) Prices are fair, if not necessarily cheap. The also host some good live music, although what I like best is going to the B.H. when it's less busy as they stay open late even on Sunday night, and it's a good place to chat with friends (just don't go on a weekend/live music night). As for atmosphere ... I think they may be trying a bit hard, but overall, it does have the British pub feel, and I quite like the dark wood. Any time I've been there, the waitstaff was polite and attentive. Never yet had a rude person. read more

It'll be a while before we go back. Service was fine but the food took "phoned in" to a whole new level. Chicken on the McCaslin melt was bone dry and fries were lukewarm. But passable. The real crime was the Bangers and Mash. One would think that ordering Bangers and Mash at an Irish pub would be a good choice. One would be wrong. The sausages had a strange pasty quality, the mashed potatoes were serviceable but the showstopper was the peas. How hard is it to cook peas? The ones we were served were straight out of a can and salted beyond belief. "Disappointing" doesn't even come close. To her credit, the server took the Bangers and Mash off our bill. When we're in the mood for mediocrity we might consider it but we'll most likely opt for cooking at home. Ugh. read more

I have yet to have a bad meal here. I really love the boxties, but most recently I had the pastrami sandwich on the pretzel bun, and it was really good, too. My only complaint was that the fruit cup had really hard melon that was basically inedible. read more

This is where my wife and I go for special occasions. Everything is excellent. Our favorites are the boxtys the brigade is the best, the cream onion soup , the farmhouse brie, the fish and chips is amazing not to mention the all you can eat Sunday's for the fish and chips, and all the pub food like burgers and wings and top notch. Food = 3 stars The fish and chips are solid as are some of the sandwiches. Last time I was there, though, I had a crab boxty that still had bits of shell in it. A bit disappointing. All you can eat fish and chips on Sunday, the fish was dripping with oil and the chips were cold. I suspect the fish was frozen and then thawed (not all the way) and fried in to cold of oil. waitress never came back to check on us so we had to refill the water glasses are selfs when she seen the pitcher on the table she still did not get the hint told me it would take 5 min to get some more fish but it took almost 20 and the new fish was all breading and soaked in oil. My dining companion food was ok but did not taste at all like the last time she was there that meal was good and why we tried the brazen head again. It was not close to full so the service should have been a lot better ( I don't see how it could be worse) read more

I like the pub except for the fact that the bar tenders don't know the difference between a pint and a half pint. When an Irish guy like me who grew up in Ireland ask for a pint then I expect to get a full pint and not be treated like I'm some sort of halfwit or simpleton. The place was super loud for a Sunday night! Our party of 4 was seated at a table that backed up to a main aisle! My chair was constantly being hit on the back as people walked through. My food was cold (a lamb burger) - perhaps because it took so long to arrive- and I received fries instead of the coleslaw I ordered. We went during non busy time. The staff was very attentive and not pushy. I had the fish and chips which was wonderful fried goodness. I know unhealthy but very worth it. Husband had soup and boxty to eat. My food was too much so he helped with it. Our review is the fish is battered lightly and is cooked to perfection. The tarter sauce was homemade and not from the store. The waffle fries all over the bottom of the plate was awesome. My husbands seafood boxty was cooked to perfection also. It's funny to read other reviews about what an Irish Pub "should" be like...I have spent a considerable amount of time in Ireland and it's pubs...just because the Brazenhead is in a strip mall doesn't un-authenticate it! The smoked turkey sandwich with waffle fries is my ultimate comfort food. Some of the staff are Irish and most of the staff are attentive and friendly. They have cold Smithwicks and know how to serve a pint of Guinness or a shot of Jameson. They know that Irish Coffee doesn't involve Baileys. They have Irish trad music from bands with Irish members. I have been in the Brazenhead Pub in Dublin...our Omaha Brazenhead looks/feels similar. BTW..."authentic" Irish food like blood sausage and sheep parts...don't think Omaha is ready for that so I am fine with what some may think of as Applebee's fare. Nothing about the Brazenhead makes me think of Applebees's. They also have a great room for small groups that has a private bar and leather furniture. The Brazenhead reminds me of the warm, dark pubs of the Irish countryside I know and fell in love with. read more

This has always been a favorite of mine, with a varied menu, pleasant surroundings, and good service. But today's lunch was very disappointing. The Reuben with fries was made with corned beef that had much gristle; the cheese hadn't been melted during the grilling; and not only the fries but the sandwich itself was dripping in grease that had an "off" fragrance and taste. My companion was content with their choice, the Pub Favorite sandwich, though she also found both the corned beef and roast beef to be touch and difficult to chew. When one pulls out all of the meat out of the sandwich with the first bite, the quality of the ingredient is suspect. I will return because everyplace might have an 'off' day; but I am hoping my next meal there will be better. Otherwise, they will be off my list of favorites. Omaha has too many great places to warrant returning to places that have deteriorated. read more

Beware if you buy a daily deal for Brazen Head, they are very unethical in the way the deal with them. I had purchased a deal and it expired. I expected, as is the case with other restaurants, that I would still be able to use the $10 I paid for the deal. They said they would not accept it because they had gotten rid of the records and had no way of knowing if my coupon was valid. That is terrible organization and ethics if you ask me and I am pretty upset that they stole my $10. They are making good money of people in this way so watch out that you don't get gipped like I did and avoid this place. read more

I have friends and family in Omaha, so I travel up that way occasionally. A couple summers ago, one of my friends brought me here for lunch. Since that trip, I've been back in here at least 3-4 times. I've been to quite a few of these types of places, and I'm pretty picky about what can rightfully be called Irish Pub food. That said, the fish & chips is spot on, and the boxties (potato pancakes) are a real treat! I was slightly less pleased with the bangers & mash, though it was still pretty good. If just for the food, I'd give this place a 3-star rating, but having a multitude of tasty adult beverages and knowing how to make some decent beer combos (black & black is very tasty) puts this place up to 4-stars for me. I would give this place 4 stars but their service Lacks. Even on slow nights it takes forever to get or talk to a waitress. The interior is awesome the nooks are a great addition. Food is pretty good for bar food. As far as I can tell nothing really fresh..... frozen and pre-made. The best thing about this place is the jerk sauce. I have had some great food and service at Brazen Head but not last night. The main problem was the waitress. We were her only table but got pretty much no service. We had to ask her to fill our water glasses and ask her to take our dirty plates away. I got the prime rib sandwich and this was not prime rib. It was a tough piece of meat that you couldn't even bite through. My friend had fish and chips and felt they were extremely greasy. On my other visits I have had great waiters who were attentive, fun and made it a good experience. This girl made a terrible impression. I will go back because I've had good food and service there but my friends were there for the first time and they will never go back. It's unfortunate. read more

Brazen Head is one of my favorite restaurants in Omaha. It offers excellent Irish pub fare and a great variety of drinks on tap. They have the best fish and chips as well as an amazing roast beef and corned beef sandwich. I love going here for dinner with my girlfriend or to grab a few drinks with friends. For what you pay this food is outstanding. It's cheap and good food. Great drinks and some fine craic. The atmosphere is one of the best of any bar in town that claims to be Irish, putting most of them to utter shame. The food is as British as it is Irish.
