First time here, love Fish @ Chips. Ordered the Fish @ Chips. Very disappointed to have walfe fries for the "chips". The fish was also fairly average. It also took almost 10 minutes for someone to wait on us at 6:30 on a Thursday. Appears to be a neighborhood bar. read more

Look, it's a fine place, I'm sure it has a loyal clientele. I was glad they had Buckler my favorite non alcoholic beer. But...the corned beef and cabbage was lousy. Sorry but you simply don't serve thin sliced deli style corned beef on a plate as corned beef and cabbage. You just don't. I specifically asked if they made it in house and how it was sliced and wasn't led to believe it would be like this. I asked for the sauce in the side and glad i did (rather strange tasting sauce...almost cheesy?). I'm guessing they use that to sort of camoflouge the meat. Potatoes and cabbage was over salted too (just adding to the sodium if the meat was indeed deli meat). And their flavor was almost like they'd been broiled in chicken stock or something. I ate most of it because I was so hungry I could've at a human hand. Anyhow...big let down. But hey the beer was cold. read more

We've eaten here several times over the years. Each time I seem to anticipate a better experience than I actually have. Today I had a Brian Boru Boxty, which was good, but very heavy with cream sauce and cheese. I thought the potato pancake was rather greasy as well. My wife had the Colonial Boy Boxty and had pretty much the same opinion. I'm not sure if these are authentic Irish Boxtys, but perhaps we should remember not to order Boxtys next time. The Guinness was great! My only other comment is just a personal opinion... an Irish pub should play Irish music in the background. I can listen to 80s pop on my car radio anytime. read more

Came to the Brazen Head today after hearing the hubby rant and rave about it and I have to say, it didn't disappoint! Our waitress was very prompt and attentive and very friendly! He started off with a snakebite and I did simple with lemonade. He loved his drink and said it was the perfect amount of sweet from the woodchuck with the beer mixed in. Said it was an Apple beer and was perfect. The lemonade was perfect for me, not too sweet and not too sour. We ordered the chicken pot pie with the chicken and dumplings soup & the potato skins. The soup was good, hubby liked it a lot more than I did but it was good. The potato skins were good, I wish they were a bit crispier but they were good. The best thing was the chicken pot pie. I can't even describe it except the mix of the chicken pot pie with the crispy crust and the mashed potatoes on top. So amazing! read more

Super disappointed. Service was terrible. My husband's food was ice cold and my food was hot lava. We only had one drink each our entire meal and were never offered another, our glasses were empty before we even got our food! I should not our food was dropped off by a food runner, not our server. Our server FINALLY came over after we had finished out food and we told him about the temperature difference and he said "His food mustve been done before yours and they had to wait for yours to be done"... We recently placed a large takeout order at Brazen Head. When I picked it up, the place was full with what seemed to be a crowd having a good time. The bartenders who gave me my order were very friendly and professional. Our food was fresh but I had one big issue. This is an Irish pub so I was very excited about the Corned Beef and Cabbage. It was extremely disappointing. The corned beef was pretty flavorless and had the consistency of sliced lunch meat; not remotely the expected salty, delicious, freshly boiled corned beef. And the cabbage was bland, mushy, and watery. The burger, wings, curds, and potato skins were all good/typical bar-quality items. I would return but never with Irish Pub food expectations. I lived In Omaha a while and I'm not sure how I haven't been to this place before. I'm also not sure that I am in a hurry to go back. The service was okay but we waited an ungodly amount for the restaurant to be pretty slow. I had the fish and chips and I was extremely greasy and the fish was slightly overcooked. If I had to guess the oil was old...it just had a fryer taste to it that was unpleasant. The fries were also more crispy than I like so the whole deal was just meh. read more

My wife and I met a couple of friends here yesterday for a late lunch. Everyone commented on the nice, upscale atmosphere. Service was fantastic. Our waitress was very attentive. Overall, everyone's food was very good, arrived shortly after we ordered, and the portion size was large. Two of us had the reuben (with corned beef) and loved it. My wife had the corned beef with cabbage and potatoes and fell in love with it, but couldn't eat it all because there was so much of it. My other friend had the bangers and mash, and was very happy with it. Beer selection is great. Prices I thought were reasonable. Ample parking outside. I highly recommend. read more

It was the day before St. Patrick's Day and all, so I thought why not head to the Brazen Head for an authentic Irish meal. Sure it was crowded, but we were able to get a table after waiting only a minute. We shared two dishes -- Toad In A Hole and the County Cork Boxty. The Toad In A Hole was basically mashed potatoes with banger sausages wrapped in puffy pastry shells, all topped with sauce. Really rich and quite heavy. Not a lot of flavors popped aside from the greasy sausage meat. The boxty was a bit better -- asparagus, crab meat and havarti cheese wrapped up in a slightly sweet potato pancake and topped with a creamy sauce. Again, really rich and filling and best washed down with a glass o' Guinness. In all, the food was perfectly tasty and unique in the fact you can't get that type of food elsewhere in Omaha. Next time, Irish food be damned, I'm ordering the Jamaican jerk wings. I also have to mention the interior -- apparently it was designed and built in Ireland and then shipped and installed in that quaint little strip mall on 78th street we all love so much. It's a great pub with a classic feel. You just have to know when to avoid it if you don't want to be mobbed by people. So that means, St. Paddy's Day is out because this place is a mad house that day. Also the 'anything for $1' Thursday nights get obscenely packed as well. The menu is good, and pricing is fair. Just know what you want to get out of the experience and show up during a time that suits your expectations. In fact, despite all it's flaws (can you say strip mall) Brazen Head is my favorite Irish Pub in town. read more

The Brazen Pub is, to paraphrase Jeremy Clarkson, beautiful, but you can't explain why. What I mean is that in some ways it seems as ruthlessly fake as a corprate shill dressed up in a red wig and green costume pretending to be a leprechan. The obnoxious little leprechan garden gnomes over the bar, the angry, laconic American staff, the overabundance of Guinness signs, mirrors and paraphanelia (Guinness is Irish and so is the bar, I GET IT ALREADY, STOP TRYING SO HARD) all make me feel like the pub was overly deliberate in its design, more like an Irish themed bar from an amusement park than a pub that naturally accumulated its charm. Confused by that sentence? Ok... you know Applebees? You know how Applebees puts a bunch of shit on their walls to make it feel like a down-home local joint? You know completely transparent that kind of shillery is? That's what I'm talking about. With all of the above in mind, the Brazen Head still manages to please. For all the obvious effort the owners/builders put into the place, it somehow balances equal parts phoniness (as described above) and authenticity (that feeling sitting at the bar, enjoying a pint and ordering from a menu that actually has Irish pub fare on it). While I may not like the feeling that they "tried too hard", the fact is that they did a damn good job for an Omaha strip-mall bar. Ignoring the aforementioned quibbles, the bar really does look, and almost feel, like a classic pub. The food is great, the selection is good and the Guinness (that all-important, all-defining Irish beer) tastes like Guinness. I may sound a bit harsh on the Brazen Head in this review, but know that despite all my complaints about the place, I'm a big fan. It still easily leaves all the other "Irish" bars (many of which serve about as much Irish food as you'd find at a Ruby Tuesdays) I've been to in Omaha in its dust. read more

I have been to Brazen Head many times before, but this time we had reservations in the Robert Emmett Room which looks like it may have been a former smoking/cigar room in its past. It has its own small bar stocked with some of the best Irish Whiskey's around. Small enough for three tables, but with lots of comfy chairs around the perimeter. I had the Bangers and Mashed which was delicious, I couldn't put my fork down, the sausages with gravy and caramelized onions were perfect on a bed of mashed potatoes. I've been here several times and haven't been really disappointed with the food. Yes, they aren't perfect and sometimes things get messed up, but all in all the experience has been pretty good. They have a heck of an emerald (salad) menu and the reubens aren't bad either. I've had the chicken salad and creamy onion soup twice now for lunch and it didn't disappoint. Today's chicken salad, however, even though tasted good, was a little too sweet and didn't taste like the first time I had it, so I don't know if they changed the recipe or what. I have to say, the waiter today, and I've had him a couple of times before, starts out friendly, but then sort of acts impatient when we aren't ordering fast enough, or he has to explain certain items on the menu. He is very efficient, but could work on his people skills a little more, as well as check on tables a little more often. He did say today he was the only waiter, but there were a couple of people helping him. I will continue to eat here, because in spite of a couple of short comings, all in all, its a great place to sit down for lunch or a mid afternoon meal. read more

My first time ever having corned beef and cabbage and I am definitely glad this is where I came. What an authentic looking Irish bar. The staff was friendly and the menu had a ton of options. Now, onto the actual meal, this was delicious. The bartender knew this was my first time, so she put the sauce on the side. I ended up drenching that delicious sauce on my whole meal. I have visited countless 'Irish Pubs' throughout the world and so many American examples are just dive bars with a shamrock on the sign. The Brazen Head is the real deal! A wonderful menu, well stocked bar (that even has Murphy's Irish Stout on draught which is becoming a rarity), friendly staff and live music. The customers are a good mix of regulars and visitors, family and friends, young and old. I love this place and happy to begin to make it 'my local'. read more

Four stars for venue - which is super cool - and the onion soup ...words cannot express. Our entire table LOVED it. It almost made everything that came after it kinda blah bc it set the bar so high. One star missing due to: Post St.Pattys day I guess they were out of a lot of beers. New Belgium Fat Tire is all over the menu but it was out. Our service was lacking as well - waiter forgot to refill drinks when asked and messed up some of the tickets & didn't offer to fix them. Used to be a weekly hang out due to their awesome late night happy hour but they changed the menu so my favorite drink is no longer included and they don't have any substantial food. We used to come here for dinner after work and eat salads or sandwiches but no more. Now there's salsa and fries. Lame. I have loved this place since it opened. The food has never disappointed, I would call it excellent, the portions generous, hot is hot, cold is cold. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is really Dublin, takes you away from Omaha for awhile, not that we need to, though. I especially love being in there in the Winter, it seems so cozy. Irish music groups on Wednesday nights are always fun, enjoyable. Lots of parking in the parking lot right outside the door. Busy area with quite a bit of shopping nearby, and close to large Childress hospital, and Methodist hospital medical center. read more

5ish on a Sunday, got the beautiful southern lounge.dining area to the myself. Had the Sunday special 'all you can eat' fish and chips and a 'black and tan; (Guinness and Samuel Adams). Service was friendly and attentive, even though I was alone in there (in hindsight I probably should have asked for a main dining area but they were having a fundraiser in most of the place.) The dining area/lounge is warmly decorated and has a nice bookcase, leather couches, a non-working fireplace, and piped in Irish music. Very pleasant. The black and tan came out quickly. I like Guinness and Samuel Adams, but this was the first time I had them together and they complimented each other well. The chips part of the meal (which is not 'all you can eat') are waffle fries that look fresh and hand cut. They were just about perfectly crispy, although a few of the smaller bits were almost crunchy and the bigger ones were maybe just a bit soft- but that is what you would expect from real food. The fish was about the best deep fried cod I'd ever had. Big, crispy, flaky, not oily or greasy. My only complaint about the whole night was that the things are so hot I burnt the roof of my mouth with the first bite. My own darned fault. The fish is served with malt vinegar, lemon slice, and a tasty tartar sauce. I'm normally a big eater but I could only manage 3 pieces. Definitely going to do this again! read more

I like the vibe of this pub. It's a direct copy of the historical Brazen Head Pub from Ireland. This place is an absolute madhouse around St. Patrick's Day but it's a sin to not make the pilgrimage for a perfect pour of Guiness. I usually get a beef stew in a bread bowl (The Dub Linn Stew) and either a Cream of Wheat (Boulevard Wheat topped with Guinness) or just a pint of Guiness. The prices aren't too horrendous and the environment is good for families. The service is the only flaw. There are some pretty bad servers mixed in with some good ones. I just feel like I keep getting the bad ones... Overall, I think everyone should come here at least once to enjoy the Irish lifestyle. read more
