I got these guys to fix a coolant leak yesterday on my 2016 Colorado, the leak is fixed and quickly, but it was $572 (labor + one hose + coolant) since it was located behind the engine. I thought this was fair for the workload and I figured it would be repaired right, however they forgot to reinstall my windshield wiper motor and put the cowl back very sloppy with some rivets not even in place. They also didn't plug in my windshield wiper fluid. So since it was raining and I needed my wipers, I fixed it myself on the side of the road with a few tools. When I called this morning, there was no offer to make it right but to notify the tech who made the mistake. I haven't had issues here before, but I did expect more of them to do the job right the first time and remediate. read more

The only reason I'm writing this is because I'm irritated. But I'm not that guy that will give them one star with no explanation. You need to know this. Let me start with the positive. Fast, friendly, reliable, and communicates well. It's hard to find a shop that provides that kind of service and sticks behind it. The negative. I had them replace an alternator 2 years and one month ago. I bet you can guess what the warranty was on the alternator. Yes, a 2 year warranty. Exactly 1 month out of warranty and the alternator dies. Now my wife and I are down to one car with conflicting work schedules. Honorable mention, they charged me $905 back then, and nearly $100 was to detach and rest the battery. To replace the alternator, (what I'll be doing tonight) is about a 30-45 minute job. A school teacher two days before school starts with three children of my own that I have to take to their campuses plus I'm "suppose" to help another friend by taking their kid(s). And what I get is a 2 year manufacture warranty. Before you say, I got what I paid for, the part was the same price as a lifetime at Autozone. If you get work done there, and you should because it's a good shop, pay close attention to the cost for parts and their warranty. Otherwise a year after it goes out of date, you'll be stranded like me. The mechanic did "offer" to call the place they got it but assured me that they wouldn't do anything. I HIGHLY recommend Brazos Valley Automotive! I had my sons truck at a local dealership for a week and they couldn't diagnose the issue. I did my own research on a FB forum and told the dealership what I was told look for. Using my research they the diagnosed the issue and said it would be around $1800+ tax to repair. I called up BVA, talked to Pat and asked what they would charge for the same repair. He said it would be $1105 out the door. He also mentioned that he didn't think everything that was quoted from the dealer would need to be replaced and that he wanted to re-diagnose the issue. After having the truck for a few hours they quickly discovered the problem. They fixed the issue in less than a day and only charged me $360. I'd been a customer here for years. Recently I brought in a Mercedes for service with them, and Bobby was clear with me the first time that they did not really like working on them but that they could do a simple service. There was a small issue but nothing terrible, so when the time came to get another oil change, I called and talked to Bobby about bringing it back in and he told me to bring it early in the morning and they could get it done. I showed up at 7:30 this morning, and from the moment I walked in, Gordon was very rude and insistent that they would not work on a Mercedes. I explained that I had verified with Bobby, who incidentally was sitting right there next to him, that it was OK to bring in for just an oil change. As i said, he was very rude from the beginning of the encounter and at one point even raised his voice and cursed at me saying loudly "We're not working on that piece of sh*t!" I told him I thought this was wrong and that I felt like he was running off a customer as I'd brought in multiple trucks before, my father had dealt with them, etc. He continually spoke over me, and said he didn't care if he was losing a customer. He also tried to speak for Bobby even though Bobby was sitting right there saying "He didn't know it was a Mercedes." I was like "That's the first thing I said when I talked to him." I never raised my voice or spoke rudely until the point that he began to yell. Also, Bobby just sat there and LIED, saying that I didn't mention it being a Mercedes, even though I clearly remember him being the one I dealt with the first time I brought it in; AND, after thinking about it, I even remember Bobby quoting me the exact price it was going to cost which was $149.99: Definitely NOT to be confused with a regular oil change on any old car. After Gordon raised his voice, I was angry and told him I wouldn't be bringing them any more of my business. I also told him point blank not only am I a customer, I am a man, and if he thought it was OK to yell at me that he could try to do so in the parking lot. Gordon just sat there like a scared little coward. I am very disappointed in the service there. I've sent many people their way over the years because of how good they used to treat me. After this, I'll not be going back. Something there changed, and I want no part of it. They're not the good people they once were anymore. They've got NO INTEGRITY and NO SPINE. read more

BVA has employees that are honest and have a high level of integrity. I had taken my truck to Christian bothers to get an inspection, they said my truck failed because of a rack and pinion leak and it would be $1200 to fix it. I called BVA and he quoted me half that to repair it. So I dropped off my truck at BVA and a little while later I got a call and there was not even a leak! There was a light out that CB failed to mention. BVA replaced the light and it passed inspection no problem. They could have easily done the repair and taken my money. 8/3/18 Friday..Seems this shop is not all it's cracked up to be...Had planned to switch my mechanic to use them, but that's not going to happen. Yesterday 8/2/18 I stopped by to ask if they work on a 350Z. I spoke to Bobby and he said yes. I told him I live close by and got good recommendations from others. I mentioned I was about to drive up to Lubbock and would he mind checking the oil. Bobby came outside to check it, but could not pop the hood open. The latch inside the car wouldn't allow the hood to open, so Bobby said "if you bring it in for an oil change, I'll fix it for free".. I said ok. It was ready for an oil change anyway. Today, 8/3/18 I called to schedule an oil chg for following Monday. Gordon, the owner answered the phone, and i explained who I was and quoted what Bobby said. Gordon said " Bobby didn't say that ". What? " Bobby didn't say that ".... Yes, he did, and i repeated it. Gordon said " I'm sure he didn't say that...Did he order the part? What part? No. Gordon continued, " I'd have to look at it and it'll take 2-3 hours. What do you mean? Well, I'll have to look at it. Well, Bobby already looked at it and said he'd fix it for free with an oil change. Then told me Bobby was at lunch and he'd call me ". About an hour later Bobby called and I repeated yesterday's conversation. This today's conversation between Bobby and myself : "you told me yesterday with an oil change you'd fix it (latch to open hood), No, I didn't say that. What do you mean? No, I didn't say that. Sure you did. I said I'd open the hood up. ok. so you'd open the hood for free? Yes. But wouldn't you have to open the hood to do an oil change? Well, yes. So you weren't offering anything for free...What you meant to say was I'll open the hood....But, that's not what you said. me -I have no idea what goes into fixing the latch to open the hood. Thank you, thank you. Bye. Needless to say, Bobby failed to mention anything about fixing the cable in the latch, didn't say anything about ordering a part, didn't say anything about we'd need the car 2-3 hours. Etc. etc, etc...... When speaking to Gordon the owner today, his attitude was not what I'd expect from an owner and a prospective customer....I didn't appreciate insinuating that I lied. What the owner could have said was, I think there was a mistake on Bobby's part, and I'm sure he told you that, but this is what we'll need to do. We'd be happy to have you as a customer and I'm sure we can straighten this out for you. I'm a mature female, who gets along well with peope. Is this how they treat at woman at Brazos Valley Automotive in College Station ?? He was unwelcoming, unfriendly, and seemed unappreciative of having me as a customer. Not thanking me or making eye contact. They don't charge for diagnostics and I have never waited longer than a day for repairs, and they keep you informed during the entire process. Also replaced the battery for a really fair price and checked it out for no charge when it was having some electrical issues. One of the parts they worked on had trouble again 6 months later, and they fixed it at no charge the same day. This is important to us because our cars are our business as they are taxis. We have trouble trusting mechanics, so it's nice to know these guys will do the best they can and not rip you off. Wow...took a car in for squeaky brakes, had to return it as the brakes continued to squeak after they had worked on the car. STILL squeaked, so we took it elsewhere. It needed 4 new pads. The problem was, BVA had replaced two pads 7 months earlier and the other two 12 months ago. The second place we took it said the clips were rusty and had not been changed, which should be routine, and the pads wore out quickly. They replaced the pads and the brakes quit squeaking. Why BVA did not notice worn pads OR rusty clips when we had it in is beyond me, although I guess doing so probably meant admitting they had not done the work properly to begin with. They did refund the money for this round of work, but we are out for the set of pads which should not have needed replacing within a year. read more

Thought I had a leaking rear main seal on a truck which would have been a relatively expensive fix. I was expecting a 650.00-750.00 bill, but after diagnosing the problem they told me it wasn't the seal and just some loose bolts somewhere else and instead I got a 71.00 bill. These guys did a great job and fixed the problem. It could have been a great opportunity to just take my money and run and I would have never known the difference. It is too bad that I have to pick even one star. When picking up our van for a repair to the air conditioner, my husband lifted the hood to see the work that was done and heard an a/c line leaking. It turns out that valve caps were completely left off of the line after they charged the system with Freon, and the valve was leaking. There was also oil spread all over the front of the van under the hood. We were told that it would be another 20-30 minutes for them to work on it some more. We spoke to the man behind the counter about the possibility of compensation to the bill of $286, for the fact that the work was not completed and the extra wait that ensued. He told us there would be no compensation, because they were going to fix it. Feeling that it should have been fixed the first time and that our time was worth something, an argument took place regarding compensation. He asked, "How much are you begging for?" I replied, "How much are you willing to take off?" He said, "None." I proceeded to say that I would be posting reviews of this incident, and he said, "I asked you how much you are begging for?" I told him, "$25." He did give us $25 back, but as far as I am concerned it was not worth the way that he treated us and his rudeness. I told him that an offer of $10 initially would have been worth a lot more than the $25. The end result was that after a 40 minute wait, they returned the vehicle to us with a different valve leaking, that my husband had to repair himself. Needless to say, we will definitely not patronize this business again, nor would we recommend it! read more
