I used to come to this course for the $8 burger and bucket deal (tasty synergies with Brea's Best burger shop down the street) but now its $7 for a medium bucket, the driving range is a dirt field, and they took away the garbage can I used to aim at for fun. If you're just hitting the range, head over to Fullerton Golf Course on Harbor. You have to pay $10 for a range card, but it gets you twice as many balls AND they have a fun target AND the driving range is grassy. read more

First of all I love, love, love this course. No matter what the season, it's like golfing with Mother Nature every time you play this course. However, I am disappointed in the way Management recently changed their policy regarding the benefits being offered Chapman Members. When I was convinced to sign up for the program I was told the annual fee would entitle me to a discount off the greens fee and I would NOT be charged a rental fee for an electric cart. Several months into my term however, Management changed their policy and started charging for the electric carts. Is this a form of "bait-and-switch"? Shouldn't those people who signed up before the policy changed be "grandfathered in" since a free cart was part of the "hook" to get us to sign up. I am disheartened in knowing that Management elected not to continue this benefit even to those of us who had already been told it was part of the Chapman Member program. Please keep in mind, however, that Management's poor policy decision does not take away from the beauty of playing this course. read more

I grew up in one of the houses across the street from the driving range and have been playing this course for nearly 20 years. It is currently in the best shape I've ever seen it (surprisingly good) and they are redoing the range. There are new target greens and they planted grass seed (!!!!) so the entire thing is going to look great when finished (early June is the claimed date). The course plays much harder than it seems it should, with some of the super steep greens and huge bunkers that guard the front, but the two par 4's are drivable and the par 3's are good short game practice. I can play this course with a driver, 7 iron, and 56 degree wedge and putter, which leaves me wanting more now that my handicap is nearing single digits. Yes the pace of play can be excruciating at times, and yes there are often some yahoos out there, but for the price you really can't beat this course. I've been playing Fullerton a lot lately and the pace is no faster than at Brea but the green fees are double and you can hardly finish 9 if you tee off after 5pm. And they have their share of slow players and drunks too. A big problem with the waits is that you can show up 30 minutes before your tee time, pay, and they tell you to just head down to the tee. They used to have a starter, or called groups down but there's none of that anymore. The "pro shop" is left to local high school kids so I guess you can't expect much. A HUGE benefit to Brea is their new PDP (Player Development Program), which for $19 a month gets you unlimited range balls and $5 green fees with a cart if they're available. If you hit two buckets of balls a month it pays for itself, so with me living right across the street, I just stop by every day after work and hit a bucket or two. You just can't beat this deal at all. I'm glad I got in when I did because once the range is finished, i can see them charging (and likely getting) much more for the membership. All in all, Brea Creek makes no mistakes of what it is. It's an affordable, fun 9 hole course. If you don't want to wait on the tee or play with drunken idiots, Coyote Hills is right down the street, albeit 10x the cost. You know what you're going to get at Brea so I don't like to see people complaining about it. The course has made leaps and bounds since 2010. I highly recommend giving it another shot. read more

The course is set up to be fun and challenging at the same time, with small undulating greens, lush fairways, and deep rough. A fine example of California's preeminent course architect, William Francis Bell. This little 9-hole course is a fun spot for those of us who don't need fancy amenities and are looking for something fun and inexpensive to do outside. We booked our tee time online, and there were plenty of tee times available and specials for online booking. Prices were very reasonable. The four of us walked the course and finished in under two hours. My only complaint is that there were no restrooms on the course! It's ok. Not perfect but if you live local it's fine. Four holes you can use the driver the rest are all nine or eight irons. All together spent about $38 bucks. It's dumb they charge for each person to ride instead of one buying the cart and both you ride. read more

Play It OR Hack It? **PLAY IT!!** Quick 9 hole with 2 par 4's. Straight forward course with a creek in play for two of the holes. I recommend getting their PDP program that's $25/month with a one-year commitment. Worth every dollar. Unlimited range balls after 1pm and $5 walking or $8 w/ cart for 9 holes after 1pm 7 days a week. Weekends usually the range is off grass which is awesome. CONCLUSION: Place can get a bit crowded but just be patient. It's a course filled with newbies and kids. Rates are $15+ with a cart, not bad for a quick round. Fairways and greens are in decent shape. Greens are rather thick and slow but what do you expect. read more

it was only my second time golfing, and this was a great beginners course!. very inexpensive as well, only 9$ to rent clubs which isn't much. course is easy to get around and easy for beginners like myself. The guy that was working there was really chill as well. We played a round then had lunch(gone for maybe 2 or 3 hours.) A challenging course, for sure. Great staff. Always helpful. Teeing off is sometimes delayed, not always. Have never had an issue with getting the late-morning tee times. Greens are very good, well kept. Tee boxes need some help. A side note, the landscape is a bird sanctuary and is acknowledged by the Audubon Society. Bring binoculars if you enjoy nature, and birdwatching. There's some really cool species of birds there. Just need to look. Oh, the cart girl is sometimes non-existent. kinda sucks when it's hot out there. read more

For an executive course, I really enjoyed playing a round here. The guys in the shop were friendly and the pricing was favorable. I found the conditions of the course to be decent and well kept. They have a couple of holes that had good distance to them, though a majority of the holes are short. You can play the nine holes in great time and be on and off the course in a couple of hours as long as it's not too busy. All in all, I wouldn't mind coming back to play quick rounds here in the future. read more

A nine hole mostly par 3 course (there are 2 fours) with a challenging layout, as a Creek runs through it. An ideal move up course from ptich and putt courses prior to hitting the longer courses. Brea Creak is a very nice course. My son treated me to a round on my birthday and it was perfect. It was my first time playing here and I had a good time. The course is well kept and the greens are fast and challenging. It has all you want in a course, friendly staff, nice driving range, a putting and chipping area and driving carts. It's a short course but it has a nice layout. Great for short game practice but also two holes where you can use your driver. I enjoyed it and will be back. I went in to the range around 5:40pm on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, to hit range balls. The cashier said technically they stop selling range balls at 5:30pm, and he would only sell me a small bucket. I was looking to buy a large bucket. He was kind of rude about it too. When I was down to my last couple of balls, the same cashier proceeded to lock up the shop, and took his own golf bag down to the end of the range. He met his co-worker on the range picker cart there. He proceeded to grab a gigantic family size bucket from the range picker cart. He and his co-worker proceeded to hit range balls off the grass, when mats were the only surface available to hit off of. When I was leaving, another friend was coming up from the parking lot, with his clubs, to join the other 2 employees on the range to hit golf balls. This was completely unacceptable in my opinion!! I worked in the golf course industry for over 10 years. It seemed like a real slap in the face! I will take my business elsewhere next time. read more
