It's hard not to feel paranoid the second you show any symptoms of a cold nowadays - even if it's truly just allergies! This place does a great job when it comes to COVID testing, as the process is super easy with minimal paperwork and they simply take a nasal swab sample while you remain in the comfort of your car. Within 15 minutes or so, a nurse will return with your documented results! Highly recommend, especially if you're a bit wary of self-testing for fear you're not swabbing correctly, etc. read more

I'd give 0 stars if I could.. It is very interesting to me that Brea Urgent Care is making it seem like they are affiliated with the Covid testing in the back of their facility, but when complaints were launched about the lack of crowd control they are now saying COVID TESTS ARE CONDUCTED BY A 3RD PARTY THAT THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO AFFILIATION WITH. They claim to make this clear which is an absolute lie. You will read other reviews on here where people clearly believe Brea Urgent care is conducting the tests. So who are we really giving our social security numbers and other sensitive information to?? It's been over 72 hours and still, no results, no one to talk to (the number given--by Brea Urgent Care, by the way, won't take messages). I became concerned about crowd control. There was NO SOCIAL DISTANCING TAKING PLACE. I called and asked if someone could enforce the social distancing rules and some hair-brained idiotic office manager named Diane had the audacity to scream on the phone, goi g o. a 3 mi use rant, First saying they didn't have the manpower to control lines. Then saying they had no affiliation with whomever is conducting the tests. I smell a lie. And when i say screaming,, she literally screamed saying if i don't like it i can go somewhere else. Interesting again that she would respond this way if they are not affiliated with the Covid company....After all her screaming she tried to apologize and clean up the mess she made, probably remembering she may be reviewed and that she has a boss! I have spent my hard earned dollars here for years, patronizing this place. It used to be a nice place to go. NEVER again! Customer service is an absolute joke! If these are the types of pathetic losers you employ to work there, trust me there are plenty of much better places to go that aren't shady about their business dealings and know how to deal with customers. In the end,I want my family to take tests safely. I don't want them to stand in a line and freaking contract covid because they aren't observing safety protocols! Brea Urgent care is privately owned. I personally think they are probably renting out the space to the people in the back or have some type of monetary arrangement going on where they are making money and yet trying to distance themselves from accountability for your covid results and the way tests are conducted. I accompanied my mom here after she sustained a fall with a suspected rib fracture. She was seen by PA Andrew who provided great care and explained everything in detail, along with showing her the xray result. After I was given false information at another urgent care, that I need to go to the emergency room that my infection had gone too advanced that he could not treat. I then went this urgent care where a more sympathetic doctor with better skills with people was able to touch my area without excruciating pain. And no it did not need to be extracted but merely needed a high concentration of anabiotics. Interesting how two doctors going to the same type of school per say come up with two different conclusions. Second opinions are indeed the best source of action. When I walked in, I was shocked by how clean and beautiful the facility was! All the urgent cares I have been to have always felt dirty and like they're falling apart; this was not the case here. My husband and I checked in and were seen promptly. When I go to urgent care, I am typically waiting at least 1.5 hours; here, we were seen in a matter of 20 minutes. Michael was the nurse, and he took my husband's EKG, blood pressure, chest X-ray, and drew blood. Michael was excellent and so kind throughout the whole process. After taking the tests, Dr. Escalante saw us and assured us my husband was okay and just had some inflammation of his xiphoid process and prescribed some medicine. There is a very specific reason that I'm only giving 3 stars. First off, the facility itself was great. Staff very helpful and got me in last minute. No complaints. Here is my biggest issue. I had a fever for 2 days with all the requisite covid symptoms. I'm an ER nurse so I have been around it every day. I went to the UC for a test and thought it a bit strange that they could do a rapid test in just 10 minutes but I let it go. It came back negative. The next day I felt worse and wound up going to the hospital. They performed their PCR covid test and wouldn't you know!!! Positive. As an ER nurse, if i had taken the word of Brea UC and went back to work I would have run the risk of infecting my patients and my colleagues. I realize it's a rapid test and maybe not as accurate but it concerns me that a clearly positive individual would come back negative. read more

Don't bother making an appointment or even coming to this urgent care. My bf made a video appt and they canceled it without reason. He had to call them to ask why it was canceled and they just told him he needs to come in for the reason of the appt and they told him they'll keep the appt at 10am for in person. My bf came in on time at 10am for his appt and he didn't get called in for over an hour and a half. He was the 4th person in line to be seen. He waited over 30 mins in the room after the dr said they would be coming right back. Their excuse is always "you're next...they'll be right with you". By the time the dr came in, he came for 2 mins to discuss the reason for the visit and then left. He really had to wait over 2 hours to be spoken to for 2 mins. Super disorganized urgent care and don't seem to be urgent about anything. I had the same experience a few months ago when I was a patient here as well but thought maybe it was just a bad day but apparently this is the normal experience. read more

Came in under the weather with multiple symptoms. Front desk staff was nice and efficient. Saw PA Maria. She immediately discovered I was backed up with a lot of phlegm and congestion. I originally went to Ouch Urgent Care and was told they "no longer provide Urgent Care", so decided to try this one in Brea. There are several things that I eventually found were patient-centric. The place itself is very clean and appealing. The receptionist and the nurses (?) are friendly. But, the service left me kind of cold. First when I tried explaining what was wrong to the doctor - he didn't seem involved whatsoever. He didn't really check me out and if he didn't 5 minutes in the room with me it was too much. I showed up with what I can only guess was a spider bite. He didn't take a guess cause he funny examine it close enough. Then he ordered a prescription that I turned out allergic to. Not his fault cause I'm not pointing fingers but he didn't even mention the possibility of a side effect or what to look out for "just in case". An hour after taking the antibiotic my leg ballooned and blistered. I read through the warnings and realized that my reaction could be life-threatening. I returned to Urgent Care. The first thing the doctor said to me was, "You told me you weren't allergic" to which I responded, "Don't you think that if I was allergic I would've told you!?" So he prescribed another. Again, no, "If you have a negative reaction come back." Nothing. This time he spent even less time with me than the first time. Mi was prescribed a ten day antibiotic treatment. I took them religiously. I was in excruciating pain. Couldn't sleep. Didn't know whether I should cover the leg or let it uncovered. No instruction was given. Ever. And on neither visit was I informed about the timeframe for a follow up - which turned out to be 10 days. After the treatment of antibiotics I decided to return for a follow up. The leg was still not healing. When I signed in the receptionist explained that had I returned before the 10 days - I wouldn't have to pay the fee of $125.00. I explained that I was never informed about that 10 day period. And why, if I was taking a prescribed treatment would I return without having finished it or BEFORE the meds were done? She had no answer. I thought as THEY HADN'T informed me that they would allow me this visit. They did not. She charged me $85.00. I didn't argue. The doctor saw me for another 2 minutes - if that much - and gave me more antibiotics. They called in the prescription. A few days later I got billed for the rest of the visit. Another $40.00!! WTF? Why would she not tell me I was being charged the entire cost at the time of service? This is not the way to do business. Their customer service is lacking. Their bedside manor - from those who are trusted to calm and provide some modicum of care is lacking. Scheduled for appointment online at 2:30pm got in at 2:15 as direct, waited over an hour until there was nobody else in the lobby before being admitted. People who came after me were seen before me. When asked the receptionist said I'm next and then the nurse called for someone else. What is the point of an appointment if you have to wait an hour. Nightmare Workers' Compensation Experince... I had a nightmare experience here on a work related injury. It was really odd and suspicious that they would not let my husband come with me into the examination room. Bad vibe...i was told that this was their policy for work related injuries. I saw Dr. Grootegoed for what i thought was supposed to be an examination, but it was nothing but an interrogation. I had to go to this clinic was that it was approved by the workers' compensation insurance company. I had already gone to the ER where they xrayed and diagnosed a foot fracture. Dr. Grootegoed recorded as my reason for the visit as "muscle pain" not a broken bone...First they isolated me, sat me in a chair in the corner of the room, then interogated me, belittle my injury, blamed it on a previous procedure, never asked to see my injury, i had to ask her if she wanted to see it. She had a note taker who seemed more like a stenographer. I cried and begged to see my husband. They wouldn't let me. I am supposed have follow up in a few days. I will NEVER go back again. Now seeking legal counsel since this clinic did not have my best interest in mind and i don't know anything about workers compensation and i obviously can't trust these people. They wouldn't allow my husband to go back to the examination room....their policy for work injuries?!!! Seriously!? read more

I was going to be 5 minutes late for my TB test to be read and they declined to read it on my arm. Just know that they aren't flexible, and the front desk staff are also not customer service friendly. They expressed no empathy. I got one answer on the phone from them about a school physical, and when I arrived it doubled in price. Just a warning to know what you're getting into, if you go to this urgent care. The medical staff themselves were helpful and seemed knowledgeable, but the rest of the experience leaves a lot to be desired and wasn't worth it. read more

Chose this urgent care because it was close by and in my network. There was an option on the website to make an appointment which I did. Arrived 20 mins early to fill out paperwork. But after waiting for more than hour to finally get called in, I knew that it was taking far too long. I came to find out also that setting an "appointment " on line was a false statement. THEY CAN NOT PRESCRIBE PAIN MEDICATION DUE TO "regulations" IF YOUR IN PAIN GO ELSEWHERE Longer wait than I had hoped due to them only having 1 provider on staff, which didn't seem like the best option on a 3 day weekend. Receptionist very helpful, however provider refused to give me pain medication for strep throat I've been in considerable amount of pain. She tested me for strep so she knew I had it. When I asked for pain medication she stated that due to regulations she was unable to provide, rather she game me lidocaine and then told me make sure not to swallow due to how bad that can be for your heart. I'm very disappointed with their Covid testing right now. I went to get tested a few days ago, and they said they were doing rapids at the back of the building. When I went, it was on the other side of the parking lot and the company who was testing said they weren't even apart of Brea Urgent Care. They also weren't taking insurance and made me pay cash if I wanted to get a rapid. They told me it was because of a shortage, but this is not true. When my mom called the front desk, they seemed confused and didn't know how to answer our questions. If you're wondering where you should go...Lakewood Urgent Care is the best! The line was organized and quick, and they take insurance. Staff is also super friendly. It's a little further but worth it. Definitely disappointed with this owner because they are trying to make an even larger profit during a pandemic. read more

We made an appointment online for our son, who was pretty ill. When we arrived for our appointment, we were told that the physician on duty had left "because there were no appointments scheduled" and no one would be available until 4pm. When we asked about why our appointment wasn't in their system, the male front desk attendant said that they "don't really check that." I get it. Accidents happen, but we received no apology, no sympathy for our situation... nothing. So, we schedule our appointment AGAIN , but this time for 5pm and we have to wait until 6 before anyone is able to see us. This review is overdue. I had a very bad allergic reaction after ingesting red dye. Brea Urgent Care is closest to my house. I checked in with the front desk and was immediately taken to a room. The Medical Assistant who helped me was very professional. I was assessed by a PA who was also very professional, through, and gave me the right combination of medication. This Urgent Care is very clean and modern. The waiting area is spacious and inviting with two TVs, which makes waiting for your turn much more enjoyable. They have a little coffee bar where you can make yourself a cup of Keurig while you wait (bonus because they had hazelnut creamer. woot!) You can help yourself to a bowl of chocolates, and magazines on the wall as well. The staff are friendly and helpful when checking patients in and out. The only con I can think of is really the wait, but that's expected with walk-in appointments. I came on a Monday afternoon around 2 and thought my wait wouldn't be terribly long. But I was wrong... lol there were about 4 people in front of me and the wait to just be seen by the doctor was an hour. After I got my height/weight and vitals taken, I was asked to wait in the doctor's office until he was ready to see me. And what I thought would be maybe a 15-20 minute wait was actually over an hour. So overall, my visit took over 2 hours. I finally met with Dr. Morgan Lewis and he was able to give me my diagnosis/prescription. He answered all my questions and was very kind and personable. So overall, the wait was worth it as I was able to get I what I needed. read more
