We visited Rhinebeck this past weekend and stopped at Bread Alone for brunch! I had the roasted eggplant sandwich and my mom had the avocado toast. As a vegan, I really appreciated there being multiple things on the menu I could order (those 2 options as well as the avocado sprouts breakfast item). The eggplant sandwich was delicious! We also both ordered the strawberry lemonade- very fresh. The restaurant was very cute with outdoor seating and the service was great. I'd recommend this place! read more

So, I went to Bread Alone once (previous review) and did not at all enjoy it. Following my review, their manager, Sharon, was kind enough to send me a gift certificate and ask me back. Since I have moved out of NY, it took me a while to get back, but at last, it was, indeed, one bad experience. Since I wanted to get a good idea of the restaurant, we ordered A LOT of menu items. My fav was the maple sausage and the french toast (which was enough to be a complete meal, for sure). Delicious! Excellent portion sizes. Not too sweet/nice texture. Their peach Bellinis are also delectable. Nothing I love more than a properly portioned champagne cocktail! In addition I had a caramel latte which was very good, and a chocolate croissant. Both I would order again. My friend had yogurt and a toast with salmon thing. She liked it very much. Great brunch spot. Cute bistro atmosphere and good service. I'll be back for brunch, certainly. I ordered the ham and Brie sandwich with the balsamic onion jam super simple but so delishes and two Canales? I think that's what they were called they were like little rum cakes. Everything was so good!!! The staff is so nice and so helpful and it was not expensive at all! Will definitely come back!! Love it ! read more

It doesn't get much better than this. Good bagels, breads, cakes, and pastries. The coffee is served up piping hot and the counter service is friendly. Local and city newspapers are plentiful and a wood bench out front to enjoy the local traffic of city folk and generally sipping coffee outside. read more

My family stopped into Rheinbeck on our way to Hyde Park. I ordered a cappuccino and a strawberry lemonade and a small demi baguette. The milk of the cappuccino was thoroughly scalded, the lemonade too sweet with whatever pink mix was used, and the worst of all the baguette was stale. On September 26, 2019 at around 11:30 in the morning, we had a terrible and very unpleasant experience at the Rhinebeck location. We felt completely discriminated when the person who was in charge of sitting people, who said her name was Carly, did not allow us to sit in the back and order what we wanted, just because we had already bought something up front. She kept saying that we couldn't get inside the place, even if we wanted to order something else and she did it in a very rude manner and she kept arguing with us. Then I told her that she was very rude and she answered that "If you think that this is rude, you should see how everyone in Rhinebeck is..." We asked to speak with the Manager and there was someone who claimed to be the Supervisor and whose name, she said, was Ally. But, even though she was not there the whole time when the horrible confrontation took place, she said that we had not been treated disrespectfully and rudely and she also said that we could not sit in the back to ask for anything in the menu. So, we are never coming back to Bread Alone and we are going to communicate this situation through every medium possible, stating the fact that Bread Alone and it's workers do not care about New York State Laws, which prevent businesses to exercise any form of discrimination. read more

Bread Alone (both the cafe and the dining room) is my go-to place for a delicious meal, whether I'm looking to have something quick or to take my time and relax while I eat. I'm a VERY picky eater and the staff has never been anything less than accommodating of the changes I make to the menu items while ordering. Even though the entire establishment is sometimes incredibly busy, the staff makes a great effort to pay attention to each customer and serve them well. I do agree that $3.50 for an iced coffee is on the expensive side... but I still buy it because it's the best coffee in town! read more

Our go to place for brunch in Rhinebeck. Everything I had so far n the restaurant has been yummy. Wait staff is very friendly and wait times are average. The front bakery is always buzzing and wait can longish, but the bread makes it worth it (thus coming from s European who know bread). The only annoyance is that any espresso drink seems to take forever. Maybe an upgrade to a faster espresso maker would help. Recently the staff up front was a bit annoyed, but I am writing this off as having come just before closing, with almost everything having been sold, staff was probably tired of telling everyone what was no longer available. read more

So here I am at Bread Alone to get a hot chocolate for myself, my girlfriend and her son. We stood waiting and waiting and waiting. Five people were behind the counter working and I finally asked, "Is there anyone working the counter?" The young woman answered back, "Yes, there's lots of people working!" She then walked away without helping us, getting help for us, or asking if we were already getting help. Then a man taking out the garbage, and don't ask me why he chose to go through the store instead of the back, kept asking us to move out of the way when clearly we were up against the counter. And he kept asking and then a young man from behind the counter asked us to move as well. This is not my first bad experience at this establishment and I think they could do with a more mature presence in the form of management. read more

I go here very often and generally it has been very good for a long time. I to take out and also eat there. Of late I find myself deciding not to go there as the service is getting consistently worse. Many times I order breakfast to go and just get two eggs and morning potatoes for myself and my wife which is usually ordered as I would like two of these: two eggs scrambled and mooring potatoes. Often you get one container with all the eggs or what looks like just two eggs. Then when you stop to check your order the staff of late seems to be a bit miffed you would check. More than 50% of the time they get it wrong. Correcting it gets you cold food. When you try to explain it slowly they get miffed that you are not believing they will get it correct. Over the past week or so they are really slow in the morning. They seem to take forever on a single client and every employee seems to have to be involved with that single client. The line can be long and they all seem to slow down and actually stop waiting on clients. This morning the client in front of me when she was finally waited on which was a five minute wait when the counter person was not serving any client just rearranging stuff on the counters with the line growing told the staff I was going to order a latte but you ran me out of time I will just have a coffee. So BA mgt that is a 50% reduction in revenue !!!! wake up. After seeing this I already had my exact change out asked for two cheese danishes to go was told it would be $6.50 and I had the money on the counter. The the person take my money and go get the danish. No she doesn't she starts yacking with another employee about another client and after a few uncomfortable stares she finally goes and gets the danish. This keeps up and the rhinebeck bagel shop will get all my business. read more

I am reviewing the bread, primarily. It is some of the worst, considering they act like they are bread genius's. It has the texture of white Wonder bread, even the sour dough. I used a loaf in a recipe and it turned gluey- a true artisan bread holds. It's very disappointing. I now drive to Tivoli or Hudson for high quality fresh bread. I am used to much better, and the clientele, I would imagine, would have more to say about this serious shortcoming. THey should re-name it "Leave the Bread Alone". THe other products are good. But do leave the bread alone. It's low quality . read more

Food is OK, Breads are not particularly special, but usually fresh. Service in all three locations is always arrogant, like they are doing you a favor even talking to you. Many times the telephone, or private conversations among employees, take precedent over the customer standing right in front of them. i was very disappointed this past time I stopped by the "brunch" spot in Rhinebeck. service was terrible .. took over 10 min to get a coffee and orange juice and our waitress never came back to fill up our coffee until the end when we were all done and about to leave. also they burned the hashbrown!!! how do you bring out hashbrowns that are black??? hopefully next time it won't be so disappointing. read more
