Not thrilled with this place. Good bread, bad service. First I asked for iced coffee- can't make iced, then I asked for snickerdoodle cookies and he gave me sugar cookies. Lastly my friend got coffee and when she asked for a sleeve for it she got the response "well it's not that hot, but I guess I'll grab you one". And while all this is happening we're practically being ignored while they're talking to the regulars. Today was my first experience at the Bread & Roses Bakery. Upon a suggestion from a friend for a place to grab something quick for lunch, I went and I was definitely NOT disappointed. I ordered the Rueben sandwich, the perfectly toasted sandwich with a great ratio of meat, cheese, and saurkraut, paired with they potato sandwich. VERY DELICIOUS!!!! Then after I orderd I saw the sample salad in the display case so of course I had to have that too. The avocado and egg green salad, excellant. Crackers were provided with the salad, and as a togo order the dressing was on the side which allowed me to put some on my sald and dip the crackers in the dressing. I would have ordered more, especially with the sweet treats available for purchase, but the sandwich and salad was the perfect amount of food. The only reason I did not give a full 5 stars, was the price. For the sandich and salad I paid over $15, and then the pastries and such were all over $4.50 with canned beverages starting at $2. I will go back when I feel like splurging for lunch for one or two, but not a place I would go when bringing the entire family of 5 adults. read more

For us, like a lot of people, this was a pit-stop on our way down the coast, but it made for a nice diversion. We had a piece of cake and a coffee, both of which were great. I didn't see the famed "celestial snail" in the display, unfortunately. They accept credit cards via the square app. Service was very friendly. Outside of the bakery, across the street, is a lovely little park with a play structure, slides, and swings, which the junior member of our party enjoyed to no end. A lovely hidden gem, located on the ocean side of Hi-way 101 just as you're sailing into Yachats from the North. Quaint and inviting decor, but the focus here is clearly on delicious baked goods. Varied and all looking delish! Recently, I'd been at a local grocery store in Newport OR, loitering in the dairy section when I spied a very lovely lady who had a cart with a ton of butter! I asked about it, and she said she had a bakery in Yachats. This was news to me, as I've been going to Yachats regularly for the past few years and hadn't been aware of it. So today, on my way out of town, I spied a little free standing sign that said "Bakery". And I suspected this was it...and it was! The two young men waiting on customers were sweet and well informed and very patient with a new customer with a lot of questions. There was seating inside, also some tables/umbrellas outside, and a lot of folks there, all of whom seemed to be enjoying themselves! I selected a little apple/rhubarb/blueberry torte thingie: a great balance of flavors and not too sweet, in the model of European Patisseries. Wished I'd had time to linger, alas, was on a time schedule. Can hardly wait to go back--and will make sure I have more time next visit. Would be a lovely spot to linger and savor their unique offerings. Not cheap, but quality is always worth the extra few pennies. You owe it to yourself to make a visit here! read more

So so good! Really glad we stopped here. Headed up the coast and needed some breakfast. Got in just in time too, because the line got really long. We enjoyed an egg strata with veggies and cheese and two yummy pasties. And coffee. Highly recommend. I will only review the one thing that I actually tried and it was disgusting. Drove though town and bought scones. Yes, I know scones are best fresh but I wrapped them carefully for the next morning. I have no idea what flavor they were suppose to be. No sweetness, no nuts, no fruit, no tartness. Pure bland pastelike blob. In general very overpriced place. The selection of, well, just about everything is outstanding. The fella serving us was as happy as can be. A nice touch. The prices are D.Trump capitalist steep even though signs and photos of the ol' socialist Bernie S. are all over the place. I'd have suggested Alfred E, Newman for Prez, and changed the Shot In The Dark I had to the, "What, Me Worry?", but folks who like politics are usually kinda stony faced when ya tease 'em. Oh my that coffee was good. Buzz on! Pacific Sourdough up the road in Waldport has much better breads and strikes me as a much more solid option. Depoe Baykery is far more down home and folksy. The Green Salmon (in Yachats) is a better choice too. Still, everything here is fine, just bring your Andy Jackson's, I mean your Harri Tubman's, er, well, just bring lots of folding money to this high priced joint. read more

Quaint bakery, locals visiting at small tables. The place smelled devine! Pastries were beautifully displayed glass cases. I wish I could have partaken. I stood. I waited. The young making espresso never looked up. Never acknowledged me. He walked by me to get something from behind the counter where I stood. I looked up, hopeful. He looked down. 5 minutes went by without so much as a "hello", or eye contact. I pulled a bill out of my wallet and watched him, having made my selection. Still no acknowledgment. When we were finally there, we made a special trip to check it out and we are so glad we did! It is a cozy gem of a place. The pastries where very good. Me and my girlfriend both got two of there prosciutto and goat cheese croissants along with a large Vanilla latte and large caramel macchiato. The total came to 17.33. Which I thought was quite expensive for what we got. What I was most disappointed with was the coffee. The coffees were super bitter and harsh with barley any flavoring or sweetners. I felt there needed to be more milk in it. The service was also slow and took quite along time probably around 8 or 9 minutes for the coffees alone. I loooove quiche and buy it often so was very excited to see it here. Got the goat cheese and prosciutto quiche (with other cheeses and veggies) and it was absolutely amazing! I was all set to fall in love with this place. It's near home. Gets great reviews. I really wanted to like it. And I did - like, but not love it. We were here around noon on a Friday. Nice selection. Place smelled heavenly. Sales clerk was friendly and helpful. The pastries are what left me a bit cold. A Chocolate Croissant and a Fruit Pillow. The croissant was, as noted by another reviewer, a bit short on chocolate. The Pillow was much tastier. Problem is, both were overpriced. Next time I'll drive a bit further up the coast to Pacific Sourdough in Waldport - where the pastries are really amazing and a much better value. read more

As avid coffee drinkers who appreciate a good strong cup of coffee and a cappuccino with nice, thick, velvety foam, we found this to be a very solid cafe. Drip coffee had good flavor, no bitterness. Cappuccino had good flavor but I got it to go so jury's out on the foam. Absolutely loved the prosciutto and goat cheese croissant! Delicious! Was strolling around the farmers' market and the drifting aroma of coffee invited me in. Great latte & a totally delicious apple raspberry folder well washed down. It's kind of a whole in the wall kinda place but the fellow there was really friendly & nice. There's seating for maybe 10 people. So plan a grab & go. Wonderful coffee (not to mention the gorgeous 1960's copper, hand-pull, 3 group espresso machine...worth it just to see that) and pastries, fabulous & delicious bread...all handmade. We stopped in accidentally (mostly for the 'facilities', thought it only right to have a coffee and split a pastry). Real flat/plateware...such a surprise nowadays in our disposable world. What a treat! Just arrived back home and enjoying a slice of the sourdough wheat/rye bread. At times, their clothing was touching the food. The display was not very sanitary and should have been enclosed in a see-thru compartment. We decided not to purchase anything and left. Today I bought a loaf of bread with olives. It is hands down the best loaf of bread I have ever eaten. Holy cow. There isn't a lot to choose from, but what is there is exquisite.
