Pass the Cheese with Charro Beans n Rice

Breadhead's just opened about 2 months ago in downtown Sylva and we are very excited to have them here. We were walking around downtown and saw the sign and new we had to check them out. I love what they did with the inside. They really are making it look like a Tiki Shak and I love that. I will say they don't open till 3:00PM so they are not open of lunch. We started off with drinks they have the Tiki drinks you would expect. I went with the Polynesian which was a bourbon based cocktail but for sure has the island vibes. I really enjoyed it. We also had to get the Korean Corndogs for an appetizer since they are one of our favorites and you can't find them often. I will say these could use some work. I was a fan of the batter and sauce but they for sure didn't get cooked long enough. The cheese had no pull and was warm at best. For my entrée I technically went with and appetizer that being the Pork Nacho Mountain and let me tell you it was for sure a mountain. This was a massive serving with plenty of pulled pork, queso, and housemade potato chips. I'm a real sucker for homemade chips. The only thing I would change is maybe putting the ranch on the said because it times it was a little much. Ashley had the Blackened Shrimp Tacos. She liked them but did say the shrimp could have for sure used more blackeneding seasonings. Breadhead Tiki Shak s for sure a good spot for food and drinks whether that being in the afternoon or even late night.

Breadhead Tiki Shak is a new restaurant in Sylva with a big name and a big menu! We were looking for somewhere to eat the day before Thanksgiving and there weren't many places open in town but luckily Breadhead was open and had one table left open! We had a very nice server who was patient while we took a pretty long time to look through the menu. For my drink I ordered the Zombie which tasted exactly like a Zombie drink, it was delicious and quite strong. For food I ordered the Korean corn dogs to start and then the shrimp tacos blackened for my meal. Being a newer restaurant (I think they are only a few weeks since opening) I know typically there are a few things they need to work out. I was surprised they had it together as much as they did! The Korean corn dogs were probably my least favorite but they seemed to be rushed as the cheese wasn't totally melted. It was however crispy on the outside and it had so much potential to be good. The shrimp tacos were delicious but the shrimp was not at all blackened or at least I wouldn't have called it blackened. The tacos themselves have tons of flavor and the shrimp complemented it perfectly. The sweet potato fries were the correct choice, they were so good and spoke for themselves..... they even reheated well!!! I cannot wait to come back and try Breadheads again when I am back in town, I have a feeling this place will become a great addition to the Sylva community!

Great for families Durring the day and such a good time late night. The service is top notch and they have the best poke this side of the mountain. It's just what this town needed! First, let's address the only downside: my burger was slightly overcooked. The server was very kind and attentive, but by the time she came back around to check on us, it felt a little late to send it back. I decided to remove the meat and enjoy the rest of the burger -- and surprisingly, it was still very good. My only hope for next time is that everything comes out cooked exactly as intended. Now for the positives -- because there are plenty. The wait time was excellent. We didn't have to wait for a table, and the food came out in a timely manner. That level of efficiency definitely adds to the overall experience. This restaurant is clearly operating at a high level. The location is great, the atmosphere is welcoming, and everything feels well-managed. You can tell there's pride behind what they're doing. We ordered The Goat Burger with Crispy Buttered Taters and started with the Fried Deviled Eggs. The fried deviled eggs were a standout. They had a salty base with a slight kick of heat, and the pickled onions brought in a sweet, tangy balance that elevated the dish. The salty-sweet combination worked beautifully together. A strong appetizer choice. As for The Goat Burger -- aside from being slightly overcooked -- the flavor was impressive. The patty was well seasoned, and the fried goat cheese paired with bacon created a rich, savory profile that complemented the crispy buttered taters perfectly. Everything worked cohesively on the plate. Even after removing the meat, the toppings and structure still delivered strong flavor. The food was absolutely worth the money. I left feeling full and satisfied without feeling overly heavy, which is always a plus. This is a place I will go back to again and again. I would confidently recommend it to others -- great location, good food, good people, and solid service. They also offer wine and beer for those who want to enjoy a drink with their meal. Overall, a very strong experience. I'm looking forward to coming back -- and next time, I'm hoping everything comes out cooked perfectly.

Came to town for my older daughter's college tour at WCU and looked up foragers on a previous visit…read moreand looked up the reviews so decided to bring the whole family +1 and give it a try. The layout of the restaurant is very homey with the Green velvet love seat by the door in the waiting area. It seems very casual with mostly family's and a few couples at the bar. When we arrived there was a short wait so we walked out to admire the Jackson County Courthouse on the hill across the street. After our brief walk our table was ready. We had my wife, son 2 daughters and the oldest one's boyfriend who goes to WCU. We started with the fried deviled egg and cheesy prosciutto croquettes for an appetizer. Big fan of the tomato jam and croquettes so much that I saved the remaining portion for my Gouda grits. They have a wide variety on the menu so everyone found a meal they would enjoy. My wife got the motherclucker chicken sammich with a salad, my youngest daughter got pasta Alfredo, my son got the Rueben, I ordered the fish tacos with Gouda grits and Karlea and Tristan got a basic burger and fries. Other than being messy, my fish tacos were tasty with the slaw and blueberry composite. My wife liked her chicken sammich even though it was at the edge of her threshold for spicy. Brody enjoyed his Rueben but the seasoned veggies were a bit bland. Forager seems like a Sylva staple that will stay on my shortlist. Cheers!

One side is for pickup the other is the side down restaurant. Since we were dining in we ended up at the Quirky Bird side. They have and out door patio and a picnic table or 2. We ended up at the picnic table since we had our dogs with us. We order drinks I had a Coors. I also noticed when I went inside they had a full bar with a decent amount of bourbon. Was surprised to see Weller 12 there for such a small place. They had a couple sandwiches which I was interested in but went with the Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner! which is breaded chicken, Munster Cheese, avocado, arugula, Blueberry Compote, on a Ciabatta Bun. I will say the service was a bit slow with drink refills and getting us out our food. Though we understood because the train had arrived at the time we were there and there was a lot going on at the take out side and were where at the furthest table away. I will say when our food came out it was pretty good. My chicken sandwich was was lightly breaded and the Blueberry Compote really brought everything together. We even got take out from here later this week and the Chicken Casserole Wrap was also good.

It normally comes with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and special sauce. I didn't want a mayonnaise based sauce....trying to cut some calories since I'm already having a deep fried sandwich! This place doesn't just serve food--they serve comfort, craftsmanship, and enough smoky goodness to make you wonder why you ever ate anywhere else. The star of my visit? The fried honey BBQ ribs. Good grief. These things should come with a warning label because once you take that first bite--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in that sticky-sweet honey BBQ magic--you're officially ruined for all other ribs. They're the kind of ribs that make you pause mid-bite just to appreciate what's happening. Absolute perfection. The service was exceptional from the greeter that welcomed us when we walked in to our server (Paige). Everything else followed suit: hearty portions, rich smoky flavor throughout, and sides that taste like they came straight from someone's grandma's kitchen. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere cozy, and the whole experience felt like a hug delivered through barbecue. If you're looking for a place that feels authentic, delicious, and memorable, Haywood Smokehouse deserves a spot at the top of your list.
