    Steamed oysters

The food was absolutely amazing and delicious! I got the crab cakes and my husband got the surf and turf. Great cocktails too! The view was great to by the river. They also have an area for kids to play. We will definitely go back here!

We visited this restaurant while on vacation with a party of six. Since it was a busy Saturday night, we expected a long wait--but to our surprise, they got us seated fairly quickly. From start to finish, the customer service was top-notch. The hostess greeted us with a warm welcome, and our server was incredibly attentive--making sure our drinks stayed full and our table was well taken care of. We kicked things off with a few cocktails. Most were delicious, but the margarita didn't quite hit the mark for me--it tasted like it was made with a standard bottled mixer. Nothing terrible, just not special. The rest of the drinks, however, were a hit at the table. As for the food--wow! We ordered a variety, including crab legs, crab cakes, steak, fried catfish, oysters, and gator tail. For appetizers, the oysters and gator tail were fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I had the fried catfish with collard greens and grits. The catfish was spot-on--crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, with a batter that was perfectly seasoned. The grits were good--maybe not as creamy as I prefer, but still tasty. Now for the collard greens: they were vinegar-based, which the server kindly warned me about. I do enjoy vinegar, but these were very heavy on it--to the point where it had that strong bite and burn in the back of your throat. So, not my favorite. If you're a vinegar-lover, you might really enjoy them, but they weren't for me. Everyone else at the table had zero complaints. The crab legs were a hit, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the crab cakes were well-seasoned and fresh. Honestly, everything was high quality--it just came down to personal preference when it came to flavors. If you're in the area, this place is definitely worth a try. Great food, excellent service, and a solid variety to please everyone in your group.

My absolute favorite feature of Creekside is that it literally is creekside! I loved sitting outside along the creek while we waited for our food. Their garden salad is huge and delicious, with homemade dressing. I just ordered a side of grilled shrimp to go with it and was stuffed. This was a great place to stop on our way to the Smokies.

Had a nice cold Red Stripe beer.

Servers were very nice and attentive. Nice location along the creek. Fried mushrooms were very good. 3 of the 4 of us had the Po Boy sandwich. Two were fried shrimp and one was the catfish. They were tasty and the bread was fresh. The remoulade sauce for the shrimp Po boy was very flavorful. The fries were good, but the side of cheese grits were not great. Kind of boring and lacked flavor. One of us ordered oysters Rockefeller. You get 6 for $18. They were so small. Super tiny oysters. That was disappointing. I feel that with them being so dang small, they should give you more or reduce the cost. We will return but would not get the oysters Rockefeller again. Had a nice cold red stripe beer.

Nice place alongside a creek. Inside ambiance is just ok, but the food was very good. We had a dozen oysters and then each had a salad topped with grilled trout which was excellent. Clearly a family run business as we were shown to our table by an adorable little girl who smiled so brightly when we thanked her. Give this place some love and go visit!

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon in July around 1:00 PM. There is plenty of parking. They were busy but no overly so. We were greeted after a few minutes and taken to a table. We wanted to sit outside to hear the creek but it was so humid and rainy we decided against it. Service was good and plates were picked up as needed. We tasted a couple of tap beers and decided on the Founder's IPA. It was very good. We ordered the Crab Cake BLT and a bowl of the soup of the day which was Crab and Corn. The soup was just thick enough with plenty of corn. It was very tasty even though it didn't have much crab flavor. The Crab Cake BLT was disappointing. It didn't taste like crab meat at all. The accompanying french fries were ok but some were pretty lifeless. Our friend ordered the fried oysters which he said were good. We don't live here but our friend visits often. He particularly enjoys anything with oysters.

    Back porch area.

Every time we go, I'm kind of shocked it's not absolutely packed. This is part of the Foothills Meats family, and if you know their spots (the butcher shop, the food truck, The Grange, etc.), you already know--they don't miss. So we went in the first time pretty confident, and they absolutely delivered. The space itself is great, but the rooftop is the real standout--easily one of the best views in Black Mountain. It's such a good spot to sit, have a drink, and hang out. Speaking of drinks--the bar is excellent. The bartenders have always been great, super easy to sit at the bar and enjoy yourself. They've got a strong liquor selection and fun, well-balanced cocktails. Now the food. Everything we've had has been consistently good, but our last visit really stood out. We shared the pork katsu sandwich, the sweet potato biscuits, and the poutine. The pork katsu was done really well--crispy on the outside, tender inside, with that classic crunch from the cabbage and a slightly sweet, tangy katsu-style sauce. I also really liked that the sauce was on the side so you could control each bite. The sweet potato biscuits surprised us--in the best way. Those are easy to mess up, and these were not. Soft, flavorful, slightly sweet with that savory balance, paired with ham, sorghum butter, smoked cheddar, and red eye gravy--it's a really thoughtful combination that just works. And the poutine... so good. Crispy fries, rich mushroom gravy, and cheese curds that actually hold their texture. It's hearty without being heavy, and every bite felt balanced. For the level of quality they're putting out, the prices are very reasonable--which makes it even more surprising that it's not more crowded. It's right in downtown Black Mountain, but we actually drive all the way from Flat Rock to come here--and it's absolutely worth it every time. Overall, this place just nails it. Great drinks, really solid food, beautiful setting--and somehow still flying a bit under the radar. Definitely worth checking out.

You need reservations; if you don't have them, you risk getting turned away. It's a husband and wife running the entire place. No extra help. They want you to stay and relax and enjoy everything. We only stayed 90 minutes and they tried to get us to stay longer. Like all the reviews say, it's a very European experience. We've never experienced anything like it. We started with an old fashioned and a margarita from the daily cocktail menu. Olga welcomed us with a hug and took us to our table. She didn't stay out long because she is the chef! But it was still cool to interact with her in the beginning. Both her and her husband made us feel like family. It started pouring and he walked outside with an umbrella and held it for 2 girls at the bar. I thought that was super sweet. We ordered the salmon roe caviar and it was divine. Our second course was the oyster flatbread and I ended up being sad I was sharing it. It was that good!!!!! We were pretty full at this point after a couple more drinks. They were really busy too, so we decided to go ahead and get the check. It started raining right after we got our check, so we ended up getting one more drink to wait it out. We had the best time and can't wait to come back!

While we were walking the Arts and Crafts Loop near Gatlinburg (I HIGHLY recommend this as well), we noticed this wonderful-looking restaurant nestled away in the green forested hills across the street. We opted to come back here for dinner on our last night in the Great Smokey Mountains. Sooooo glad we did! Owned and operated by a European couple, the Red Oak has the ambiance of a quaint European restaurant that one would find tucked away in the Alps. While the inside atmosphere is wonderful, we chose to sit outside to enjoy the very quiet and beautiful forested hills of Gatlinburg. Service was incredible and very European - they told us they would not bother us unless we asked for something and that the table was ours for the evening. Yep...we stayed there for three hours, sipping our wine and trying various dishes of exquisite flavor. I'd like to say try this or try that, but to be honest: all the dishes we tried were absolutely phenomenal. We cannot wait to try this place again!
