Was excited to see this join the area. I ordered a slice of quiche, a chocolate/hazelnut croissant and a cappuccino. 30.00+ total bill. Epic fail on all counts. Quiche on diplay looks yummy, however I was told it would come from the kitchin in 6 mins. Result was a piece of burnt, hard, tasteless crap that tasted nothing like egg, pesto or anything else it claimed to be. The croissant was hard, and fell apart to reveal the nutella, or whatever it was, with white spots all through it and not edible at all. The cappucino was weak (no trace of espresso) and lukewarm by the time the dessicated quiche came from the kitchen. Cute concept and very busy - but caution not to takeaway and look at what arrives before you get it home. One word - yuck. read more

Came here for the pastries, had the best Vanilla Cornetto which tasted like the same one we had in Italy. And just like any typical Toronto cafes, everything here is costly. Place is always crazy busy so if you're looking for peaceful ambiance you can't find it here. Service is a hit or miss with staff being unfriendly and indifferent at times. I read about this place on BlogTO and bookmarked it for a future visit. Finally, I had a chance to visit here for work lunch on a Wednesday afternoon with my team. It was around 11:45 a.m. and it was already very busy, all the tables inside the cafe were occupied. Thankfully, there was a table available in the patio outside, so we were lucky! We lined up and looked at the menu. When it was our turn, we ordered two Iced Matcha Latte for drinks. My teammate ordered Pesto Mushroom Salad and a small sandwich, and I picked Eggplant Benny. Then we were given a small buzzer (which we would hold onto until it buzzes, and we go to the pickup counter to pickup our order). The food was delicious, although the portion size was a bit small in comparison to the price. My teammate enjoyed the salad, she said that it was fresh and delicious. I also enjoyed my meal, the eggs were done right and the eggplant was cooked just right. The bread was chewy, but it was a bit tough to slice with a knife. The iced matcha latte was cold and refreshing on a hot day. We both agreed that it could be a bit stronger, so that one could taste more of matcha. I was happy to have visited here! The lunch time gets very busy, so I would recommend that you come here at least 30 to 45 minutes before the lunch hour begins, or come after that time is over (after 2 p.m.). Stopped by on a whim walking by since it looked popular; super cute interior but honestly we were a little disappointed by the food! My boyfriend got the pancakes and felt like they lived up to the cafe name - very bready! He thought they were unconventional and too dense, and would've preferred they just stuck to the tried and true version of pancakes. The plating was super cute though. He also got a caramel latte, which he said he liked. I just got a cinnamon danish which wasn't bad! Relatively flaky but dry and not a ton of flavor. Not sure if I'd get it again. Service was nice, although we ended up waiting in line for a long time since we lined up straight behind the people in front of us at the register, but a couple groups who came in after us went around and formed a line to the left. I came here for brunch with two girlfriends on a Sunday morning. It was fairly busy, but luckily a group at a booth was just leaving. Bready has a counter where you can order food & beverages, as well as a market section if you want to purchase some goodies. I didn't expect there to be no table service, but truthfully that makes me want to come back in the future if I'm looking for a place to get work done. I was immediately drawn to the croissant benedict. As you can see we all ended up getting this dish - I thought the flavours, texture, and portion size were good. I also got a vanilla latte to go with my meal. Everything was served in really cute tableware. An update based on my 4th visit. The pistachio latte is my fav and it's always consistent. Service was slow as per usual, but this time I witnessed absolute chaos in the morning early hours. Staff were all over the place and as always, only one barista handling drinks. The two ladies infront of me picked up their drinks but from what I heard, the cashier incorrectly inputted hot vs cold and for here vs takeout. The first lady picked up a hot drink, but I overheard her telling the barista she ordered iced but it was fine. Instead of apologizing, the barista said "it's hot not iced". The second lady picked up her drink, which was in a glass, so she asked the barista for a takeout cup. Instead of apologizing, the barista poured it into a cup quickly. Both ladies felt super awkward and walked away with a confused look. The barista never smiled and as soon as the last lady walked away, I saw her complaining to her colleagues about incorrect orders. I enjoy the pastries and drinks from Bready, but absolutely dislike the slowness and disrespectful service. Expect 15 minutes wait for a drink. read more

I was excited to try this place after hearing such good things about their Vaughan location, however I made the mistake of coming here for lunch, rather than just dropping in for the pastries that seemed to put them on the map. The Nicoise Salad was disappointing. It was served without the customary green beans, or any dressing so it was incredibly dry and lacked any real flavour. The cookie was very good, though at $5.50 per I'd hope so! I'd skip this in favour of the plethora of better options in the area for cafe style eats. read more

WOW! Love a good cafe when we find one and this was it. So many bakery goods that look absolutely perfect, premade fresh sandwiches, custom drinks (shoutout to the mango smoothie!!) and options to order more plated meals as well. Very quick service once we ordered, and the couches were a great vibe to eat at. Outdoor seating that was covered was also a great spot - can't wait to be back! What appears to be a nice cafe is marred by it's horribly slow service. In the morning on a work day I expect to get a coffee to go so I can head to the office before I'm slated to start. This cafe has a lovely outer appearance, good ambiance and what appear to be expensive but beautiful pastries. But I'm here for the coffee first and foremost and the moment I was handed a pager after I gave my order, I realized it was going to be a long wait. It took about 15 minutes for them to make a latte and a cappuccino. 15 minutes, for two coffees. I'm unaware if the vibe of this cafe is supposed to be Art-Deco, bougie, high end service that is supposed to be so good you'll wait for it. But I didn't think it's worth the wait. You have the audacity to ask for tips but it's obvious you're not moving quickly and you're taking your time to make a coffee that was supposed to be To Go but it showed up in a mug. When I told the staff it was supposed to be To Go, they poured it in a paper cup and handed it to me. So in the end I got a mixed milk/coffee drink that was mildly ok. I'd rather go anywhere else, and I think I will because I can probably get coffee before Bready pages me. read more

I stopped in for a latte one evening after dinner and got a chocolate mousse as well. It came in a cute little jar, a little pricey at $10. The chocolate was a little bitter but I did enjoy the cream on top. My iced vanilla latte was delicious! It was a bit thicker and richer than I had at Tim Horton's so I'm glad I don't live here. I really hoped to love this place - but unfortunately the staff was extremely rude and unfriendly. We had asked for the pastries and sandwiches to be warmed up, unfortunately we found both the dishes to be cold. In terms of the coffee I tried their pistachio latte - flavour wise it was really good, but again - it was cold when I'd asked them to make it extra hot. So I work downtown and I'm always at the Mos mos under where Bready is located and one day, I noticed that there was a café upstairs, if I took the escalator up and the café in question is Bready. This place is super aesthetic and it was so packed with tons of people who were dining in, inside the restaurant café, and even outside on their cute patio. I decided to get a matcha latte with oat milk and they told me that there was no option to adjust the sugar level in the matcha, which was probably my first red flag. Second, was that the latte came out super light green barely any matcha flavour in it. It basically tasted like a more expensive version of the Starbucks Matcha latte, which was really disappointing. I think if you were going there to enjoy pastries (which looked delicious) and other coffee specialties, this place would be worthwhile to visit, but do not come here for their matcha lattes. Have walked past this spot a few times, so came in for a weekday breakfast, just after the morning rush (about 9am). Great decor, lots of seating and has an upmarket cafe vibe - more European street side cafe/bistro than most cafes in North America. Ordering and pickup is at the counter, so no table service - but found the overall speed of getting food and drinks to be fast. We got a sandwich melt, an eggplant Benedict and a pistachio croissant cube; and two coffees. The food quality is great; the most notable being the eggplant Benedict (different take to most bennys, great balance of flavours), and the side salads accompanying both the benny and the sandwich. The croissant cube was great to look at, but the crème filling and the form was not a great combo in our opinion. There are loads of pastries, and the menu itself is pretty extensive. Will certainly come back - either for a coffee break or for a breakfast/brunch. read more
