My dish was delicious, my friend enjoyed the corn cake, but the ham was just okay she said. Diner with options. The outside seating is comfortable, but fills up quickly in nice days. The inside seems a little cramped and jumbled, but seating looks comfortable. We sat outside an found that pleasant. We walked up and was able to get seated right away, but was full by the time we left and people were waiting. The food was as good as it looks. In looking at other tables the food all looks fresh and plentiful. We got the vegan chorizo hash, which can be made fully vegan or vegetarian. Everything exceeded expectations. read more

Stopped by Breakfast House for Sunday brunch and was pleasantly surprised to get seated right away. I had the Supreme Chorizo Hash, and my wife got the Breakfast Burrito. Both were flavorful and well-portioned. The food was not extraordinary, but it was definitely satisfying. The restaurant is clean and has a modern design. Personally, I would have preferred a place with more of a warm and cozy mom-and-pop diner vibe. I made a drive all the way to Oak Park with my son because this was our weekend breakfast spot when he was a baby. It is located on a corner of downtown Oak Park, on a scenic tree lined street. It has received a major facelift, with shinny courter tops and black leather seats. The staff is fast and polite, however the chatty waitress that knows every regular by their name is gone. I ordered pancakes, my son chorizo hash. The flavor remained unchanged, I was very happy with the food. The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars was my first coffee mug had lipstick stain, and my plate was rubbed against another and I had a handful of cheese when I grabbed. I've been here a few times now with friends. There are some good items and also some not so great items at this place. I really enjoyed the chilaquiles and the house crepes (they're more like eggy soft pancakes) as well as their special lemon french toast and nutella french toast. My partner really enjoyed his egg white fritata. The Dieguitos I got had a hair in them, but they tasted good. The almond horchata had an odd artificial taste and the hashes are very potato heavy. Full disclosure, this review is from a visit in September 2025 but Yelp just prompted me to write a review so here you go. I really, really wanted to love this place but it's simply unfit to fill the shoes of what was once Cozy Corner (RIP). The pros: friendly staff, cute interior (maybe too cute - booths, tables, and chairs are on the small side), clean bathrooms. The cons: dirty/dusty window sills, dead flies. The food... honestly, I could have made a better omelet at home, and I'm no chef. Flavorless and a little soggy. My son's oatmeal was actually pretty good, but the "fresh fruit" side was lacking in both freshness and fruit. Service was a bit slow, but the place was pretty packed so understandable. The nail in the coffin was the giant rat we tripped over as we exited onto Marion. Early afternoon, sidewalk full of people, and a massive rat shoots out from the area between their windows. Someone made a comment about "city living" but city or country, if a rat is on your property then you need to up your restaurant hygiene. Given the reviews mentioning ants and flies inside the restaurant, it tracks that rats and/or mice may also be an issue, which is concerning. I love bugs and animals, but NOT where food is prepared and eaten... Breakfast House has a lot of potential, so hopefully the owners can address some of the more serious but fixable issues... like adequate cleaning/sanitization and humane pest control.... read more

The croissant was underdone and not the expected buttery and flaky. The ham was really good and so were the potatoes. This dish would really succeed if the croissants were outsourced and they add some sort of special sauce or ingredient to the sandwich. The burrito was also bland. Love the new location. They were very busy when we walked in, but it was within their first 2 weeks of opening. The wait time wasnt bad for a Saturday early afternoon; less than 20 min wait. My husband and I ordered their hash with egg on top. It was voted as Chicago's Best - we thought it was okay. We have breakfast here about once/month. The whimsical atmosphere is fun, the staff is amazing and the food can't be beat. We love the vegan chorizo. The food was sooo good! I had the lemon cream French toast special and it was delish. Boyfriend had the chilaquiles verde special with potatoes. We have been dining at The Breakfast House for a few years at the location on Harlem. What a treat that they opened a location blocks from our house in Oak Park! The service is welcoming and efficient, the ambiance is sunny and the food is terrific! My family and I have been ordering take out orders since the Break House Cafe opened in Oak Park, IL. I have not have an issue with this restaurant until today, July 20, 2025. Someone had the chorizo hash order and they were almost choking on the plastic that chorizo comes wrapped in. There was also an issue with under cooked chicken - the Diego's Fried Chicken. The only thing that we did was to throw away the food due to food safety risk. I called the restaurant regarding this issue so they are aware of what they are giving their customers. I was promised that a manager would returned my call today but they never did. To me, it shows a lack of moral and a lack of professionalism. I will not be returning to Breakfast House. read more
