I came here because was seeing a trend where people have been dipping their bagels into the cream cheese instead of spreading, and I wanted to try. Also the bagels always have a small crisp and crunch to the outside. I came here looking to have my own bagel dipping experience and it did not disappoint! The Onion Roll has been a "deli" business for a long time in the Oak Park area so I had to try it while I was in town. I came in about 30 minutes before they closed so I had the restaurant almost to myself. I had their patty melt which is something I don't normally order. The patty melt was not overly greasy and passable. Their meat patty was surprisingly thinner than expected. Their fries were flavorless and needed seasoning or some special sauce alternative to ketchup. I thought prices were a bit on the high side for what was served. Overall, I am guessing that their breakfast and deli counter may be more popular than their lunches. One of the best dinners/bagel shops in Chicago. The bagels by themselves are a reason to go in. They're the perfect amount of a chewy crust to light and fluffy inside, with the toppings being to die for. I tried an onion, everything, and jalapeño cheddar and I loved all three. I highly recommend any of the breakfast bagel sandwiches. My boyfriend got the Avocado Turkey breakfast sandwich (not shown) and I got the Lox breakfast sandwich. The sandwiches are actually filled with food rather than just a few thin slices. My boyfriend and I split the liver plate and it was amazing. I find it hard to find great liver and this place has some! If you like liverwurst you will like this plate. We got it with an onion bagel. We got bagel chips while we waited and sipped on coffee and looking back I wish I grabbed a few extra bagels to go to try more of the variety they had since the assorted chips were so good. The staff was amazing; being warm and welcoming like we had been going there for years. The interior was beautiful and made you feel at home. Just moved to the area and was super excited to try a new local bagel shop. Been twice now, first time was just a jalapeño cheddar bagel with onion & chive spread, $9.43 - 8/10. Went back yesterday and got the NY bagel sandwich (2 eggs, bacon, American cheese), $18.79 and 7/10. The price is too steep for a just above average sandwich. Would rather support a local business, but not with these prices. The search continues. read more

The food here was phenomenal! It was so good to have tasty Jewish deli style food. I got the Bacon Egg and Cheese breakfast sandwich on everything bagel. It was a little pricey but that's pretty typical of Chicago and the burbs. I wish you felt like you got a little more substantial of a sandwich though. My order was wrong when food came but it quickly was re-made. Overall, it was a nice experience and we would go back. The latkes were also really good. The inside was really pretty and we liked how it looked like a traditional deli. I also liked how you could easily order bagels and to go sandwiches on the other side of the restaurant. OMG! The portion and the quality is so so so good. Our server Maria gave terrific service and smiles. The ambiance is so cozy I could sip coffee and chat here for hours. Tried this place for thr first time after looking for a good bagel. This place has 2 separate areas. One is a lively dining area and the other i a takeout deli. The service is very fast and attentive. At the register they have their list of available fresh bagels. I tried the jalapeno and cheddar with chive cream cheese. The bagel was good but didn't have much kick or cheddar flavor. The cream cheese really stood out though. It had a sweet flavor like I never tasted before. It was definitely fresh and home made too. A single bagel at the time of writing this was $2.50 and with cream cheese came to $5.5 with tax. I will come back again to try another bagel and their deli sandwiches. read more

Food was ok. But the service was rather poor. It took a while for anyone to bring us water and when they did they had such a rude attitude. The wait staff didn't even notice there was only 1 setting for a table of 4 - because they were busy socializing with each other or on their phones. We were charged for a potato salad we ordered that never arrived and again such an attitude when we asked for the charge to be removed. read more

Cute little Jewish deli, situated on a quaint street in OP, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the establishment super clean. All of your favorite deli classics. Had the New York breakfast Sandi on a plain bagel, the sausage was extremely flavorful, also ordered the turkey and avocado which was very good. This place is a shell of what it was 10 years ago. I do not think that the corned beef nor the pastrami are made in house like they used to be. All the "deli" items are in small pre-packaged non see thru containers. NEVER saw a "deli" case that was so sparce and loaded with Cryovac'd corned beefs and "fresh lox"!! Staff seems to just be doing the minimum to get by. Had to wave our waiter over to get the table clean off and later again to get our check. He was standing behind the counter on his cell phone!!! Terrible, terrible staff including the front "deli" staff. Took5 minutes to figure out our bill and ring it up correctly. Really don't know why people still think this place is so great. Portions are tiny as far as the slaw and pot salad. Can't be more the 2 tablespoons at best. Will never return to this shell of a "Jewish Deli" read more
