My wife and I had been very unhappy with two previous landscapers, so when we reached out to Breceda Landscaping for a quote, our expectations were guarded. That changed the moment Teran and Eric came out to the house. I was immediately impressed with their professionalism and deep knowledge of plants, specifically what will and will not thrive in Scripps Ranch. Our area can be a tough place to grow certain plants because of the soil, and we also have large pine trees behind our house that drop needles, so we needed plants that could handle the added acidity. Teran and Eric understood all of this right away and planned accordingly. What really set them apart was the communication. They asked a lot of questions up front, kept us informed of progress throughout the project, and consistently asked for our feedback on the plants they were suggesting. They were also genuinely open to pivoting when we had a different idea. I told them I wanted my backyard to look tropical, like something out of Maui. They did not disappoint! My wife and I were blown away by how the yard turned out. It went beyond our expectations. There are not enough good words in the dictionary to describe our experience with Breceda Landscaping. From the get go, Eric and Teran were very upfront and honest with us about everything we wanted, and how best to make it work. They understood our vision for a complete backyard remodel, and helped us work within our budget to get the backyard of our dreams. This included completely new plants, sod, outdoor lighting, a new outdoor kitchen, refacing our fireplace, putting in pavers, a new deck with a custom spiral staircase, and building in play areas for children. As with any project of this scope, there were surprises along the way. Our lawn drainage system was shot and needed to be redone. Our original plan was to not replace the entire deck, just the decking, but once they started we realized the beams were shot and actually a hazard. Each time, they were extremely fair with the pricing and always kept our budget in mind. The professionalism and craftsmanship of Valdez and his team were amazing. Our daughter loved to go play with and watch "the guys." Valdez would come back on weekends even to make sure that everything was perfectly the way we wanted. Since the project has been done, a couple of times we have had questions about some of the plants, lawn and sprinklers. We have had a LOT of contract work done on our home over the years, and Breceda Landscape stands out as one of the BEST contractors we have worked with. Eric and Teran came out and listened carefully to what we thought we wanted, and provided a number of estimates to provide for a range of materials and services. We were able to find what we wanted from those choices. We had a water intensive grass lawn in our back and side yard since we moved in and everyone knows that's not practical or sustainable in San Diego. Synthetic grass(lawn carpet) was not an option for us, because I think it looks fake, even the high end stuff. We went with concrete pavers in 18" and 24", with gravel in between, and the edges with Korean grass, and are extremely pleased with it. Eric's team showed up as promised. Eric was at our home EVERY day for a period of time to check in, and explain any changes or issues(like irrigation, whoever installed the original pipes was not very qualified, leave it at that). The team cleaned up after themselves diligently, and worked hard to grade our yard, removing about 2 TONS of dirt in order to do so. When we discovered a severed low voltage line was keeping us from properly illuminating our yard, Eric sent out some of his team after the work was completed to fix the issue....quickly, on time, and without fanfare. We went from a landscape that was disjointed and had little flow, to a lovely, functional back and side yard that completes the look of our home. It's so much more than we were conceptualizing and greatly increases our pleasure in working on our yard or when we are outside relaxing. A couple came by to give me an estimate but did not seem interested in my project request. I was looking to redo the front yard and they didn't even measure anything out. They seem to have eyeballed everything and the husband was very negative about my project request while the wife was the one writing things down and spinning a positive outlook on my request. What I was trying to do was extend my backyard and it seemed he did not want to be liable for Some possible permitting issue. They were the only company who questioned possible permitting. While every single other estimate said that it was within reason. Nonetheless the estimate was over, the couple left and said they would be in touch and send me an estimate in the next few days. it took two weeks for an estimate because it was their anniversary and they were on vacation. Breceda Landscape recently finished a complete yard re-do for me, leaving intact only most of a patio (added pavers to the perimeter), part of a sidewalk and one pine tree. Work included demo and soil removal, drainage, irrigation, concrete, pavers in concrete, natural ledger stone on columns and a barbecue, a fountain incl. electrical, hot tub, fire pit, 3 large vegetable boxes, 200+ ft of fencing with gates, low voltage lighting, boulders, planting etc. So you can consider them a one-stop shop. I had 3 bids and Breceda and another were pretty comparable price-wise, but I'm happy I chose Breceda Landscape as the project went smoothly and was professionally completed. I had a landscape design but Teran and Eric made several recommendations that were more cost-effective. It was a large project and there were lots of decisions that had to be made along the way, but I found it easy to work with the whole team. Breceda Landscape did a great job putting pavers and a rock garden in our backyard 6 months ago, while installing drainage to prevent rain flooding our backyard and seeping into our garage. After it rained so heavily in recent months without any drainage issues, I felt the need to post. Eric and Teran helped us design both for the functional and aesthetic, found ways to meet our budget, and worked within our short timeline. Umm where to start. Our home needed both front and back landscaped. I will say that Eric and Teran are pretty knowledgeable with plants and landscaping ideas. Eric claims to have designed a sprinkler that he will sell to you if he can. (I'll come back to that) The project began and it seemed they came in and were done like a Tasmanian devil...it was quick and looked legit. Our FRONT yard came out just beautiful. I couldn't be happier. But the backyard sod they put in....it is obvious that there are 2 types of sod mixed in. It looks ridiculous. So banking on the promise of follow-up we attempted to contact them regarding this, plus questions on Eric's 'sprinkler' heads. We got nothing but crickets. We had a medium sized landscaping project. Our landscape designer recommended Breceda Landscaping, and they did a professional job at the price quoted. They were honest, prompt, and thorough, and worked well with the landscaper and us to make sure we were all satisfied with the results. I'm sad to say I can't comment on their work, but I had the strangest experience with them today. I've been trying to find a contractor to take on my front yard project and have been contacting a couple people at a time, and getting rejected (project at $15K is too small for a lot of companies). I spoke with Breceda landscaping on the phone and set up an appointment, but then got an email (from who I thought I had just spoken with) rejecting coming out for an estimate (yet again). Apparently that was another company with a similar name - my mistake - and Breceda showed up to my house today. I opened the door and had a moment of confusion, and before I could put the pieces together of the miscommunication, Eric acted affronted that I was confused, bluntly said "we're not a match" and stalked back to his truck. We certainly are not a match, I don't think I've ever dealt with anyone that rude! It was an honest mistake on my part and one I own up to, and I would have been happy to meet with them then and there, but if I can't be confused for 2 minutes without them getting snippy... not people I'd hire regardless. read more

I have nothing but raves for Eric Breceda. He landscaped the front of our house several years ago, with boulders and rocks and succulents as well as with some xeriscape drought resistant plants that we chose when we went to the plant nursery with him. He put in an irrigation system that is working well. We worked together for several months, planning and replanning as I kept changing my mind about what I wanted to plant. He was patient with me. And in the end, he put in a wonderful landscape that people who pass by the house are always commenting on. They tell me it beautifies the neighborhood, and they are right, if I do say so myself. Eric has an artist's eye. He understands flow and design. And even though at the time he said he did not like succulents, he was willing to plant them for me. I bet now that succulents are the in thing, Eric may have changed his mind about them. In any event, he was easily able to coordinate with deliveries of boulders, rocks, cobbles and small stones, and earth moving equipment. He was here for every step of the process of creating the landscaping and had wonderful, competant and hard-working people working for him.
