So, just picked up my bike after being serviced before an extended trip. Had the suspension done and a few other things. The bike is running like new. Visited Breckenridge in 2/2015, and during a rest-day from the slopes, rented two fat-tire bikes for the afternoon from Breck Bike Guides. We did not do one of their tours, which we heard were great, but just took the bikes out on our own to ride around some local trails. The rental was easy and the owners of this little shop are very friendly and knowledgeable. They directed us to some nearby trails which were a great time. Rentals were cheap, $40 for the half day, and they were very flexible in the pick-up/drop-off time. Bikes were in great condition. This is a great activity if you're taking a day off from the slopes. The shop is conveniently located in the middle of town. If I had more time/motivation, would have considered a bike tour. read more

We rolled in a bit later than expected to pick-up our reserved road bikes, no problem they held them. My boyfriend's and my purpose for heading to Breck was to road cycle on some crazy inclines that Chicago does not have to offer. We did not go on their guide service but they were helpful explaining the route we had picked-out for the day nonetheless. I was really nervous, this was my first time cycling in the mountains and it showed. Sydney and Nick and the bike mechanic all had input and tips for cycling in the area. Like I said, we had a late start and I looked out the window once to see snow! I was not prepared for the colder than average temps and snow. Nick was very generous and lent me some shoe covers. Pretty sure they saved my toes! I was riding the BMC Grandfondo disc 105 (I think) that Sydney had taken out a few times and loved. They had rockn' tires that made the ride so smooth. This was also our first time with discs and I loved it. No other bike shop had nicer bikes and people to rent them. They are true cyclists, Nick was going to a race that day. We had the bikes for a half day Saturday and went riding all day Sunday. However, due to the holiday and Nick being gone, the mechanic around when we got back thought the store was closed Sunday and Monday (for Memorial Day) and could not ring us up. We did not want to pay for the extra day if we were not riding. Bill explained this to Nick and he was very obliging about the situation. They had in fact been open those days. Regardless, we only had to pay for the days we actually rode. I felt very welcome in the shop. Just by walking in I felt I was soaking up bike knowledge. I would have loved to take one of their classes. Also, they sell scratch! read more

I don't know how many hours Nick and Sydney at Breck Bike Guides spent helping me find the perfect bike to fit my needs, budget, and goals, but I know it was a lot. Also, their service doesn't stop with just the bike. The also offer on trail skills classes and indoor training like spin classes and yoga that has been a huge benefit to my riding. Breck Bike Guides is the go-to place in Breckenridge if you want any service done on your mountain bike. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and the price I paid for a rear derailleur fix was lower than what I have seen other shops quote. Clay got my Yeti in and out quickly. I'm taking all my bikes to them for service in the future that I can't manage myself in my rudimentary home shop. read more

These guys are great. Sydney took me around on a 2-hour ride and it was everything I wanted. I'm a reasonably fit 47 yr old with some biking experience, but it was clear that they could also handle very serious riders doing serious things, or a family out for a cruise through the woods. Sydney knew the trails perfectly, and took me where the difficulty level was well-suited to my ability. They even provided a little snack for the ride. Pricing was very reasonable, I thought. rentals are available, and though i did not rent, the equipment they offer is top-notch at below-market rental rates. The only minor inconvenience was that we had a 10:00 am ride scheduled and we didn't get out of the store until 10:30. They ran late outfitting a family that was heading out with another guide. But they did honor their full 2 hour commitment to me and had me back at 12:30 sharp. This is a new business, and the delay was due a bit of disorganization on their part. I know they will figure it out, and will definitely go back the next time i am in town. It was a pleasure riding new trails without having to worry about where i was going, looking at maps, getting lost, etc. What an awesome service - Thanks! read more

I'm in town for Breck Epic. I spent a few days in Salida before coming up for the race. The bike shops in Salida were all excellent, and all bike shops. In Breckenridge, almost all of the bike shops are ski shops that happen to rent bikes in the offseason. I went to every shop in town looking for bearings for my hub with no success. The cannondale shop had no clue how to replace the bearings in the hub, and suggested going to the hardware store for bearings. I didn't visit Breck Bike Guides, because I didn't realize it was actually a bike shop. As far as I can tell it is the only bike shop. They had the bearings in inventory, and scheduled me the following day for service. I'll update the review if the service doesn't meet expectations, but that would be surprising based on my experience with the shop. read more

We went in here to purchase a specific bike helmet that cost $270 with tax, had to wait around for service then we were told the display was the only one available. It had a couple of marks on it as it has been tried on numerous times, no discount offered for the helmet and no box or packaging was available either. The guy working the register (not the owner) was unapologetic and put out so I asked him to reverse the credit card charge because we did not want the display. Business is done on an iPad and I run my business this way as well it literally takes one click to reverse a transaction. This guy said he had no idea how to do this? Finally figured it out.
