I came in right after 8am, so they were probably just setting up and didn't think to seat me for dine in. It was brusque but mostly not overtly rude, perhaps they were just busy getting ready. I ordered the charcuterie board ($28), a chicken salad croissant sandwich ($14), and the Lavender Bees Knees ($8). The drink was very pretty but not super flavorful. The chicken salad was good enough, but I think the croissant alone would have been wonderful. The charcuterie board had a substitutions I was not made aware of upon ordering (no pepper jelly, blanched almonds instead of candied pecans, and a green onion mixed type goat cheese with bacon in it instead of maple bacon goat cheese). They did add little pickles and the presentation was pretty enough, but no flowers like the owner posted photo on here. The meat was pretty thick which could be a positive or negative depending on personal preference, and the meat was decent quality. The fig jam was very good. The waitress who was helping the other tables had brought my food out but didn't check on me at all. I had to go up to the counter again to order a cinnamon roll ($8) and a coffee ($5) which she brought out to me. The coffee was nice and dark (Cameo blend) and incredibly hot. The cinnamon roll was okay, not very much cinnamon flavor but it was delicate and the icing was decent. The interior was pretty and it was a good spot to read a book and spend a morning. read more

I really enjoyed this coffee shop. The shop itself is beautiful and has a lot of seating, perfect for a study session or hangout spot! The menu also has lots of different choices which all sounded delicious. I got the chocolate croissant and thought it was delicious! The coffee ... not my favorite. It isn't bad by any means but it is just meh. Honestly a coffee from starbucks is better for the same price. I also did not try the cupcakes but they looked beautiful and well made. I struggled to rate this place. Cute place, good coffee, not good cupcakes. I got an iced caramel macchiato and that was a solid 4.5 +. Very coffee forward and I can taste the caramel. The cupcakes were a 2.75. They look good- but they were dry (especially the almond raspberry) The vanilla cake was maybe the better of the four cupcakes - softer but tasty eggy / chewy. Not really soft and moist. The chocolates were both dry, dense, and not soft. The raspberry jam tasted chemically. The Boston Cream Pie Cupcake is what dreams are made of!! The chocolate frosting on top pairs well with the yellow cake and, as a fun bonus, there is delicious Boston cream in the middle! Cameo is so lovely! We visited to experience the festive decorations and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. We made a reservation on their website and upon arrival, I was glad we did. There's limited seating indoors, about 10 tables mostly for parties of 2. There's also patio seating with a few space heaters. There was 1 server handling all the tables indoors and she was fantastic. We tried a couple lattes, croissant sammies, and the cinnamon roll. The chicken salad sammie was my favorite. The croissant was fluffy and buttery and the chicken salad was refreshing. Yelp says I've been six times, so I suppose I'm a touch overdue for a review. Cameo is a gem. I love how they decorate for the seasons; it always feels bright, in touch, and thoughtful. They have their own little parking lot too, which is nice in a pinch. I don't think I've ever had a subpar pastry there. They're known for their cupcakes, and most recently I tried their gingerbread - so good! I also love their seasonally inspired cocktails. I had the gingerbread white russian and it was lovely. I also brought the sage sausage savory cake home to my boyfriend after a girls' visit, and the dude inhaled it in like 10 seconds flat. Very nicely decorated cafe/bakery for the holiday. Small so unless you're open to outside seating not very ideal for groups larger than 4-6! A variety of coffees and tea are available plus a full bar. We didn't dine here as my group had brunch elsewhere but we all enjoyed our drinks. I had the seasonal White Russian which was delicious. My fiance and another friend enjoyed the mimosa flight. I also got a cupcake which was good but a little dry because I think it was refrigerated. I would try a baked good again but would get it to go and enjoy at home at room temperature. I really really love this place. I've been waiting to go here all year since two years ago for the Christmas time drinks and decorations. I was disappointed. I had called before making my reservation and asked if they had all the Christmas drinks and stuff out. They had confirmed yes they do. Everything about this charming cafe is wonderful! The front patio provides a great outdoor section, and the interior architecture and decor beautifully suits the art that is those cupcakes! I do not live in Richmond, and I was trying to arrange a bridal luncheon for a local bride-- Kristin and her staff created a special event for us- and we couldn't have been more pleased! I cannot recommend this lovely cafe more highly- the food, the careful and warm service, the charming decor, and the attention to detail created a very special and memorable event for our bride. Cute is an understatement. This restaurant is adorable, and serves a really tasty variety of sweet and savory cake. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, and the decor was so in line with the spirit of the restaurant that the whole experience felt like I was eating in a theme park (and yet it was not overwhelming). Highly recommend you try the savory bundt cake. My salmon selection was really good, and my cousin ordered the same thing. I'll add that parking is slightly tight around the area, though I didn't have any trouble getting in or out. Great location, great food and coffee, but unfortunately was lectured by the same sever two weekends in a row about very minor things that were made to be bigger deals than necessary - lectured about a reservation from our group that was made by another employee for fewer than the required number, even though we weren't aware of this rule and the inside of the restaurant was largely empty (and received an apology from another employee, so thought I would try coming back for a new experience), and then the ability to accommodate a uncommon food allergy was presented in an very unkind and argumentative way - both went on for much longer than necessary, that's the issue, not the reservation or allergy accommodation, always happy to follow the rules! A friend of mine has been telling me for years that they have the best chocolate chip cookies in the city here at Cameo, and shame on me for taking so long to finally visit. I wanna gatekeep but honesty and transparency and what not... The chocolate chip cookies are sold in sandwich form, and they were rolled in sprinkles this particular day. I'm not a fan of sprinkles... I know that makes me sound like the Grinch of desserts, but they induce unnecessary chewing and have very little detectable flavor, at least not enough to warrant their presence. In/on ice cream, they're intolerable. On cookies, however, I can manage. For the best cookie in RVA? Sprinkle me up, baby. The cookie was soft, thick, and extra salty which works so very well with the other flavors. I also ordered a coconut cream cupcake and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. The texture was soft and fluffy, and the coconut flavor was prominent but not overpowering. I can't give a firsthand review on the pupcake I bought, but my fur-nephew definitely approved. What a cute place! The staff was very welcoming and friendly. My husband and I got an array of items- stuffed breakfast croissant and a regular breakfast sandwich with ham and cheese. Both were pretty good. I also ended up getting a cinnamon roll which did not really seem like the average roll. It seemed like it was on a croissant smothered with the sweetest cream cheese frosting. It was good but way too sweet and not my style of a roll. However, we did get a few cupcakes: birthday cake, chocolate, peanut butter chocolate and the carrot cake. All were amazingly delicious! Loved my experience here! I had been before but recently I came here for more of the sit down experience inside and I was not disappointed. The vibe is SO cute during the holidays. They really go all out and it's just delightful to be there with all of the decor. The Christmas stuff is spectacular and worth a visit during the holidays, but they also deck the place out during other occasions which is so cute! For food, I did a latte and a cinnamon roll. The latte was served in a fancy little glass cup that I swear made it taste better? It was just a cute presentation. The cinnamon roll was SO good. Freshest and tastiest one I've had in Richmond. Friday 3/22/2024 This spot right here GREATLY EXCEEDED my expectations. I was looking for cinnamon rolls in the area and wasn't having much luck so I decided to call in and check if they had any and fortunately they did. I got a warm cinnamon roll for $7.58 after taxes and it was one of the best cinnamon rolls I've had. The appearance looked like a basic cinnamon roll but the flavor and taste proved me wrong cause it was AMAZING. It had the perfect balance of dough, cinnamon, and icing. The dough's texture was nice & soft, the cinnamon was great (had a slight jam texture which complimented the cinnamon roll very nicely), and the icing was good as well. The cinnamon roll has a legit 0 flaws that I can name. This place right here is the one if you are looking for a great cinnamon roll. Also they have cupcakes and other items that I would be open to trying in the future. I would definitely recommend this bakery & obviously return for more. read more

Great place to visit with family! Came here with my son and nephew to see the holiday decor and try some things. The decor was beautiful and staff were very friendly. We ordered the cold plate sampler for an appetizer, which came with three cold salads, all of which were delicious, but it only came with four crackers so I would personally like to see more crackers served with this item. We got two savory cakes which were incredible and my favorite things we ordered. I got a pizza for the little ones, which was justt okay. I think the texture was off for us as it was vegan and gluten free. A nice option for those with dietary restrictions though. The cupcakes were also amazing and I'd like to come back again earlier in the day to see if there are more options at that time. Overall we had a great time, great ambience, and enjoyed the food. Incredible edibles! I will definitely be making several cameo appearances at this ultra cool restaurant in Libbie & Grove area! If you are out and about "on the avenues", be sure to make this new eatery your lunch spot! The brick patio is fully decked out with outdoor seating, bright turquoise chairs and stools, lights, wood beams, atmosphere to spare! Inside is just as inviting with vintage tin ceiling, and several sleek tables and booths. The restroom is on my top 10 aesthetically beautiful bathroom in RVA! The sparkly peacock wallpaper is everything! It's clean, bright, and peachy! The only thing missing is a hook or shelf for one's handbag. It so pretty in there, you may not want to leave! I almost think they should extend that theme throughout the main room! The cupcakes are divine! I've tried every flavor! The pretzels are as big as your head! My grandson got a cupcake and cinnamon bun. My mom got a coconut cupcake and my son-in-law got a birthday cupcake. There were a wide variety of cupcakes available. The restrooms are clean and very pretty with peacock wallpaper in the women's powder room. The service was okay but our server did not refill our water or offer to refill my mother's tea. If they offer their carrot cake, banana cream, or cookie dough flavor, make sure you run to grab them! You can easily order online if you would like to grab some sweets ahead of time. If you want something savory, they also have pizzas, savory croissants, savory cakes, and more. They serve drinks such tea, coffee and fancy cocktails. The bakery is so cute and colorful. My friend and I went to Cameo for the second year in a row to take in the beauty of their Christmas Decorations and we were not disappointed. The moment you walk up to the front entrance, you are greeted with pink and sparkles, gold and white toy soldiers, and gingerbread men statues. Inside the decor continues with big Ho Ho Ho signs and lights. Even during a busy season, we were able to get a table fairly easily. I had made a reservation but we had gotten delayed and when I called they were really kind and helped me make it a little bit later. I think the only downside i have for the cafe is that their menus were a bit sticky/dirty which was a little bit gross. However, despite that, their cocktail menu was super cute and very festive. We had a hard time choosing one cause they all looked tasty but I ended up getting the merry margarita which was delicious. To eat, I got the fig and arugula pizza with pesto and it was super tasty - gluten free as well which didn't hurt the flavor or texture of the crust! :) To finish off our meal, we each got a cupcake - I got the white almond raspberry and it was amazing. I usually go for chocolate and/or peanut butter but the almond flavor of this treat was awesome.
