This is an adorable little shop. They have all kinds of cute merch in the shop on top of their extensive boba tea menu! The lady that was working when I came in was really patient and sweet. It took me a minute to figure out what I wanted to drink. They had a lot of people coming and going, so I think they're a bit popular in the area or at least in a prime, convenient location! I had the strawberry black tea with light ice and 50% sweetness. I really enjoyed it, although I think it would've been better if I had kept it at a sweeter level. I also didn't try any toppings (I'm not really a big fan of toppings), but I think additional toppings may add more flavor. Came in to get a chocolate milk tea. Noticed they were making it with green tea. I thought that was weird because every chocolate milk tea I've ever had was made with black tea. I still tried it with an open mind, since I spent about $7.50 on it. After a few sips, I noticed the green tea's flavor mixed with the chocolate's flavor was definitely not for me. I went back in and made sure they weren't busy so I didn't bother them. They had no line, so I went up to the kind worker and said something along the lines of, "I'm sorry to bother, but I honestly wasn't a fan of the green tea mixed with the chocolate, it wasn't mentioned on the menu or else I would've asked before, is there any chance I could get a different drink/remake? If not no worries!". The kind worker went to ask her boss, who was right next to her, when her boss just starred blankly at her and I. No verbal response. Just a blank stare. Then the worker had to apologize and said they couldn't. The workers were nice. Boba was awful. Boss was the worst. Do not reccomend at all. read more

Kokee Tea is a great option for boba. The owners are super friendly. I've had a few different boba teas and have enjoyed all of them. They have tons of flavors on the menu so you'll be sure to find something for everyone's taste. I really appreciate that they have symbols for drinks that can be hot or are decaffeinated. Not all places have hot boba teas and it's perfect for a cold day. The store has a massive selection of cute goodies (plushies, purses, stationary, figurines, etc) and unique snacks too. This place is so cute. I love the atmosphere. It's fun and offers lots of special items that could be found in an authentic Asian market. Like not only milk teas, coffee boba, bags of chips and sodas (like ramune soda), but they also have really cute stuffed animals, figurines, and all kind of other cute trinkets! Today I got the brown sugar milk tea (which comes with boba) + added film on top, an earl grey macron, and a grape ramune soda. Tea was yummy! Not overly sweet, really loved the foam on top of it. Think I will try the coffee with Boba and foam next time, that looks really good as well. Highly recommend getting milk foam topper, it was especially delicious. The macron was not very impressive, and not worth $3, in my opinion. But the soda was good. And the lady behind the counter was very helpful and patient with me while I was trying to figure out what I wanted. read more

Kokee Tea is a small little tea shop in the middle of the bustling Cary town. They are always fast, efficient and respectful. Their bubble tea is decent. I always do the taro smoothie or milk tea, brown sugar milk tea or Thai tea. It definitely satisfies my bubble tea cravings. They have some really fun and unique flavors. I like to keep it simple.My last visit, I got the Thai tea which tasted a little off to me but couldn't pin point exactly what it was. Overall, I always have a great experience here! Stumbled upon this place while walking in Carytown the other week and since then, I've had it probably 7 or 8 times. They have a ton of drink choices as well as various bobas and jellies to add ins. They also sell macarons and cakes and lots and lots of cute merch. The shop is pretty tiny and has two stools inside, if you want to try and sit, but it's kinda cramped so I wouldn't recommend that since there's outside seating. It's tucked into the corner of Cary Court plaza. If you go in person the plaza can be HELL to park in, especially on Fri-Sun, so I've ordered on Doordash quite a few times too. I get the Oreo C&C and it's so creamy and delicious. My partner enjoys the Mango Passion Fruit. Docked one star with them bc the way their menu is set up, both in person and on Doordash. The first time I came, I ordered the mango passionfruit, which is clearly pictured with boba. So imagine my confusion when I received the drink and it didn't have any. This can be kinda misleading, especially for a first timer. Also, the Oreo C&C is listed as no caffeine but one of the times I got it, it definitely tasted like tea was added. Also, on doordash and uber eats, some of the drinks and add on options are not listed. Totally fixable though! read more

ILOVETHISPLACE!!! They have SoOoOoOo many options for Boba, Slushies, Shakes, popping Boba and snacks !!! This is my favorite place for the macarons !!! They have so many flavors !!! I wish I had taken more pictures but, every time I go I forget from all the excitement . I would 1000/100 recommend this place. They have a nice little area outside the front door to sit in. The only thing g that sucks is that it's hard to find parking in the lot in front of their store but, on the plus sides it's fun to park further away and walk and see all the art and cool things, stores and explore too. I love the atmosphere there and everyone's demeanor there. They're also so bubbly and happy and excited !!! They made our order daily quick even though the line was big. I stumbled across this spot while exploring Carytown and was very happy to find a nice bubble tea spot. The interior is very cute and quaint with minimal seating. There are a variety of flavors, including signature flavors. We tried one of the signature drinks, the Dragon and Rose ($5.25), which was a rose tea with dragonfruit pieces. I also added some jelly to it. The tea was pretty good and very refreshing. I'm a fan of milk tea in the winter and fruity teas in the summer. This was a great fullbodied tea and the dragonfruit was a nice treat. Overall, it was an 8/10. This was a cute spot that we popped into as we explored Carytown. It was a nice little treat to drink as we walked along and took in the sights. If you're in the area and looking for a nice treat, I suggest popping into this spot! read more

Although Kokee Tea has a prime location, it is not one of the top boba spots in Richmond. I don't even remember what flavor I ordered, but it just tasted like I was drinking straight up milk for at least 2 times that I've gone. The boba was fine though. Overall, I wouldn't walk away from it if I'm in Carytown, but I wouldn't drive out of my way to get boba from here. read more

Recently went back to Kokee and enjoyed their tea! I got the peach flavored "Dream of Butterfly" drink with rainbow jelly. I forgot to adjust the sugar levels so it was a bit too sweet for me but I liked the strong peach flavors along with subtle butterfly pea taste. Boba felt too heavy for me that day so I went with rainbow jelly which complemented the tea. The jelly itself was chewy and not too sweet. I liked how the different colors and layers in my drink made it aesthetically pleasing (: I think the last time I was at Kokee, I probably got the wrong thing and wasn't very impressed with their drinks. Upon this second visit, I felt that Kokee does have some solid tea items. Would like to try their boba and milk tea based drinks in the future. read more

You don't know how badly I have been missing Tenn Tea in Memphis. I think I finally found a place that can fill the void. I went traditional my first visit just to see what was going on here . . . boy did they deliver. It wasn't too sweet but it also took care of my sweet tooth. I was good for the rest of the day (that is saying something lol). They had a good variety on the menu so I definitely want to come back. Only thing I don't know yet is if they have them more like a frosty texture. . . you know what I'm talking about. . . put the little tapioca balls at the bottom. . . blend the Thai tea in ice. . . yaaaasssss. After a nice quick hike by the James River, my friends, wife, and I decided to scratch our bobba tea/slushie drink itch on a Sunday afternoon. I usually stick with the slushie when my wife usually sticks with the milk tea drinks. I asked for 75% sugar but I should have gotten to normal order to handle my sweet tooth. I stopped at Kokee Tea while I was exploring Carytown in Richmond. I've tried other boba places but was my first time trying Kokee. This location was small so it had limited seating, but the decor and art was super cute. I decided to order the Brown Sugar milk tea and the Georgia on my Mind signature tea. The brown sugar milk tea was very sweet, I would compare it to the brown sugar latte at Starbucks. The brown sugar also melted nicely into the drink. The Georgia drink had a subtle peach flavor, so the fruity flavor wasn't too overpowering which I liked. The quantity of the drink is also well worth for the price and the drinks were served fairly quickly. Kokee also has some cool drinks like the Dalgona Brown Sugar and Dream of Butterfly drinks which I would try next. I think their menu offers a unique variety of fruity and milk teas that I haven't seen at other boba places. If you're into boba and haven't yet tried this place, I would recommend you do so because they really did feel like a hug in a cup :) read more

This is by far my favorite boba shop in Richmond. I am very very specific in what boba I like, so to find a place that makes their teas to my liking is fantastic. My go to order is the Oreo brown sugar drink and it has never disappointed me. This place does get pricey fast (paid a little over $9 for the Oreo brown sugar drink with tip). The employees are sweet and quick with service. The store itself it's so cute too. There's like plushies and other cute stuff that lines the back walls of the store. I got the wintermelon milk tea and while I could taste the wintermelon, I couldn't taste the tea. It tasted like sweet milk. Their boba was the most disappointing though. It was not sweetened with any honey or brown sugar and the boba was all clumped up together, making it hard to drink. For about $7, this is pretty pricey. I came right before closing time, so there were no other customers - my drink was made ASAP. I ordered the Oreo C&C Brown Sugar Milk Tea, which in hindsight, was WAY too sweet for me. However, it was exactly what I expected! The oreo was slightly overpowering, so I didn't really taste much of the brown sugar or the "cloud". I did like how the drink came with two toppings - the bubbles and the oreos were a nice mixture. Kokee tea is one of my favorite places in Richmond now. I discovered them on Yelp when I was craving for boba and of course the puffles. I came here with my sisters in law and we all love the puffles. I love that they have so many options for dairy, some places like kung fu tea won't let me order black tea latte, they only use creamer. I will be coming to Kokee tea in the future because of the flexibility they have and the puffles are delicious. They took great safety measure to covid 19 as well. BUBBLE WAFFLES!!! Oh man, we had our first bubble waffle(s) in NYC about a year ago and it was a great experience. I awaited the day to devour another bubble waffle. We decided to do that on a rainy, cold Monday. But we needed some dessert after our meal, and it was only a block away so why not? So the process of making your waffle ice cream combo is simple. You choice a waffle flavor, ice cream flavor, toppings and one drizzle. Cool. You can opt to not have ice cream, toppings and drizzle if you want. The only free thing you get is the drizzle. Bubble Waffle ($4), Ice cream ($3) and Toppings ($.50 per topping), makes this interesting experience into a costly one, but it's worth it. I got a mocha bubble waffle with chocolate brownie ice cream, chocolate pocky and caramel sauce. My SO got his bubble waffle combo before I did and mentioned how the ice cream had a weird crystalization on it. (this means they must not keep their freezer at a constant temp, which is a bit concerning.) When I got mine, I didn't really notice it too much, but it was definitely there. What I did notice is how hot my waffle is. It's odd to complain about a freshly made waffle but, it was melting my ice cream way too fast to eat them together. I had to take the waffle away and lay it on the plate. (that they supply you when you first get your waffle, so they must know.) A different experience than NYC's WOWFULLS. But I enjoyed my waffle regardless. I say skip the ice cream and just get a bubble waffle and if you do want the ice cream, simply ask them to place the ice cream in a cup by itself ( or do it yourself once you're done with the photoshoot. ;) ) Another con is that the person in the back can only make one waffle at a time. He got his before mine by about 4 or so minutes. He was trying to eat it slow but again, not the best idea when the waffle is hot. It's now Friday, we went on Monday (Feb 11) and I'm already craving another waffle. So we will be back for sure! read more

Grabbed some amazing kiwi slush with strawberry bubbles guys this is my mix because I'm not into tea so go try the slushie/smoothie mix! The pork bun omg so tender and that sauce they put on it is like a teriyaki sauce ahh soo good! And the shrimp tempura with spicy sauce!!! Listen to me when i tell you this, HANDS DOWN some of the best tempura shrimp I've had here in Richmond! my taste buds are in heaven!! Next time i will get me some ramen for sure! If you've read my other bubble tea review, you know that I'm very particular about my boba. I will say, as another boba option in Richmond, it's pretty okay. Glad there's another choice! I will say the aesthetics are cool and I definitely gotta support my Asian community here. I do like that Kokee, Kaze Ramen, and Zzam, occupy the same space so it's like a mini Asian food court. That's lit. So I was feeling slightly adventurous and ordered a iced matcha rose milk tea 75% sugar with tapioca, the OG topping in my opinion. It wasn't too sweet or taste fake. I could taste the legit tea which is a great sign that's made from real brewed tea. I guess I wasn't feeling how big the size was, it was a lot to drink. There is only one size option I believe. I felt the flavor was somewhat diluted from the large size and ice. I think I would wanna try something hot next time- yes, I wanna make sure so I'll be back. I do like that the cup was clear, however, at times I felt like the lid was going to slip off a bit. But it held. But THE BOBA TEXTURE THOUGH. It was definitely soft and chewy, which was great. However, I felt the boba lacked a bit flavor at the core when I was chewing it. Overall, I felt like it did satisfy my boba craving. I came here because it was in the same location as Zaam and because I was getting a congrats gift for one of my coworkers. Hers look pretty good, but I was only craving some coffee. Nothing too adventurous. So i ended up getting the coffee smoothie from this location. It was pretty good, but not spectacular. I would like to eventually try out their bubble waffle ice cream, but I need to find a date night with the hubby. The instagram looks amazing for this, and I hate that I wasn't feeling up to par on trying one. I also feel like it's not something to attempt alone.
