Mark and staff rock! First things first: Mark (the owner), is a super amiable guy, which instantly makes it a pleasure to do business here. And, amazingly, with the many hundreds of customers who come through the place, he will always remember your name (I'm lucky if I can remember my own, much less scads of other peoples). The service is always spot on, and I've never experienced anything other than speedy, friendly, professional service--I'm a fan. And, the prices are super affordable. Unlike some other reviews I've read here which bemoan the fact that you have to pay first, I like that. I know that when I pick up my clothes, it'll be a quick in and out, no fumbling with money, no 'dang it, forgot to stick a tenner in my wallet to pick up my cleaning.' Bonus: dog friendly! There is always a doggie treat waiting for our canine pals, and before Cocoa went toddling off to the Rainbow Bridge, she always looked forward to the friendly pats of the people who knew her name and gave her a treat. I went in for a "wash and fold" service at an affordable price. When I picked up my clothes, Horror! My hand and my face towels, my bras, my underwear together folded with my socks! What a mess! My clothes were in disarray! A pond of mixed bacteria! When I confronted the owner about the total lack of organization with the folding, he arrogantly replied that he had never heard something like that in twenty-five years of service, that his machines were strong enough to kill the bacteria, and that I should have specified this detail before the cleaning. To me, it is a proof of filth and intrustworthiness! He should have proactively thought customers would get the impression of wiping their faces directly with their socks. Disgusting! read more

I have been going to this cleaner for a number of years, and just in the past year everytime I ask for creasing in my pants or my shorts I do not receive them that way. I have even asked them to make a note in my record that I am to receive creases. When I pick up my items no creases. Service has gone down. Very disappointed. read more

I guess you don't know the colors of a place until you have a problem. And I don't mean getting clothes back that still have stains on them. That's been happening the whole time and I figured it was MY fault for not pointing out each and every single spot. No. Not that kind of problem. THIS problem is that they ruined my favorite sweater, made me jump through hoops about it, and then wouldn't offer to replace it. Okay - to be fair, Mark (the owner) did offer to write me a check only after I said that I would report his business to the BBB and only IF I brought him a receipt for the purchase of a new one. I brought my sweater in for cleaning after work one day and then picked it up at 1:30 the next day. I was DELIGHTED that I could pick it up so soon. I stood at their counter and took the plastic bag and hanger off of my sweater and then carefully took off the safety pins (I hate all that extra stuff and I like to give it back immediately). I noticed that my sweater was bigger and I said something RIGHT AWAY. The girl said that it couldn't have been their cleaning. So, I thought, "Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me? I'll go home and try it on..." And my sweater absolutely was stretched waaaaay out. It used to be fitted and now it fell away from my body and the collar sagged from a Peter Pan collar to a droopy V-Neck. I emailed the owner that very day with pictures attached. A couple of days went by and I called to see if they check their email. The girl who answered said that yes, they check it every two days or so. I waited some more and still nothing. I called and spoke to the owner who said he hasn't checked the email and that I can bring the sweater in so that he can try washing it again. I asked if washing it again would make it somehow shrink? He said probably not but he was obligated to try. Okay. I brought my sweater back. You know that silence that is stirring with tension? Like, you are looking at this person who is holding back sooooo much anger that it's frightening because he's going to explode on you? Yeah - it was like that. Talk about FRIGHTENING. Mark asked me questions that I'd already covered in my email ("I told you I didn't read your email!" He snapped at me). He looked at my sweater and said that his cleaning process couldn't have stretched it out. I asked him if he ever saw a sweater like it (button up and cap sleeved) and he said no. I said, it's pretty special to which he snapped, "I didn't say THAT!" I was timid around him and completely polite and innocent. After all, I didn't want to disturb the beast. He made me follow him to the back where he had me stand there and watch him clean it a second time as if to prove something to me. He took down my phone number and said that he would call me when it was ready. He also took down the phone number of the owner of the store where I bought the sweater to verify the price that I told him. Some days went by and I never heard from Mark. I called and asked if my sweater was ready. He said that he never told me that he would call me. Whatever. I went back and lo and behold my sweater was in the same stretched out condition. At this point, I'm thinking, "I've let him try to fix the problem. It wasn't fixed. I've given him the number of the owner of the store where I bought it to verify the price. Now I can finally get a resolution." NO. He said I should contact the manufacturer of the sweater for faulty craftsmanship. OH MY GOSH! Why was this man not taking responsibility? My response was (in the same polite tone), "Yes Mr. Mark. If that's what you recommend..." He snapped, "YES - that's what I recommend!" I emailed the manufacturer (copied Mark on it) and they responded within a matter of hours with a very nice email. They sympathized with me and said that it's very important to follow the exact washing directions of that sweater and that the tag outlines those directions (Mark said that he read the tag and followed them to the letter). The manufacturer said that it's clear that the sweater was very special to me and that they would give me half off of a replacement sweater but in a different color (yellow) as mine was no longer available (teal). I called Mark this morning and relayed to him what the manufacturer said. Mark responded that if I wanted I could buy the new sweater and then bring the old one and the new one to him for comparison. WHAT THE HECK?! Given how many hoops I'd already jumped through for him what's to say that he would do anything after I bought a new sweater (in a color that I didn't want)? NO. His facility ruined my sweater, would not take any responsibility for it, was rude to me, and now wanted me to buy my own replacement? Oh - and at the end of the conversation this morning, he condescendingly said (multiple times), "I feel sorry for you Yvonne." Feel sorry for what?! That he ruined my sweater? I needed a new cleaners & I've passed by here several times so I instantly thought of them to try out. I read the reviews AFTER I dropped my clothes off!!!! SMH I walk in and there's a young girl who gives an ok greeting and I ask for the alterations person. She calls her up front & she tells me my garment can't be altered due to the material, but she's having an issue explaining this to me due to a language barrier (her English wasn't great)..She also became frustrated & appeared irritated & so I decided not to leave my garment. I did have about 4 or 5 other items that needed to be cleaned so I left those. I was a little surprised w/them requesting payment upfront! I considered myself a pretty consistent customer of this establishment, considered this my go-to cleaners. I will be searching for another dry cleaners muy pronto. After working in hospitality for years I understand the desire to want to tell your customer they are incorrect, that what happened couldn't have happened. Unfortunately I'd never heard of an establishment using the opposite of 'the customer is always right' until the owner basically called me a liar... to my face. The best franchises out there have impeccable service & stand behind services rendered. Not here, you've got to prove it. The way the owner handled my discrepancy was not even close to what I would expect from a business wanting to keep their customers. I guess my clothes came back clean and in one piece, so that's a couple stars. First, they asked for payment upon drop-off and as I wasn't expecting this I only had a credit card. Minimum charge is $10 and my total was $8. Okay folks, while this may not technically be illegal, it is certainly a breach of contract with the credit card companies. Luckily the manager recognized me from the neighborhood and said I could pay on pick-up. I didn't get back for a week because frankly I never have cash on me and going to an ATM was just one more hassle. My clothes were there, pressed and all, but some of the pants were only creased along the seam. If I wanted creases on the seam I would have just washed them at home! What good does that do? Am I crazy or is it standard in this day and age to crease pants in the front? It is annoying enough that I have to own and wear clothes that have to be dry cleaned. Do they have to make it that much more annoying by making it difficult to provide payment and by being inept at modern pressing techniques? And the first review is nonplussed about burnt buttons? That shouldn't be acceptable. read more

Mark and his staff do a great job and are significantly cheaper than other local options. We recently had my fiancee's sweater repaired here and when we got it back, we realized the hole was still there. I brought it back in and it turns out that they had repaired another hole in the sweater. Mark called me personally to let me know they had neglected to mark the correct repair and would complete it right away at no additional charge. The staff are to the point and friendly. The price is the hook or the stench with dry cleaning. It can be mysterious and inflated. A flat rate and make you wonder if it was cleaned at all. Breit and Clean; honest- up front prices, well cleaned and quick. I use the in house tailor to hem jeans and repair lost buttons and holes. I haven't attempted anything tricky ( i.e., heirloom wool or costumes), just the basics and have been very satisfied. You prepay and I don't mind a bit. The 10.00 limit for credit card use is an interesting thing because at most cleaners, you hit that with one to two items fast. Complain? Nope. I'll get the cash and thank you kindly for my four shirts cleaned and beautifully pressed for half the price. read more

I didn't know him before coming here, but now feel like I've known him my whole life. Highly recommended. Note: If you have a stain, point it out. They may charge a lil extra, but the stain will be worked. This is more labor intensive and with his low pricing, he needs to charge more. Once explained to me, it made sense. Also, all dry cleaning is pre-paid. Bring your wallet or cash when you drop off. All in all, you won't find better prices or service. My dog even loves to visit! read more

Recently called to find out their method for cleaning/packaging a bridal gown. Woman who answered the phone wasn't able to go into much detail, so she offered that the manager could call me back. When he did, I asked for details on some of the things he told me, like..."Then it gets put in a Cherish Box". "And what is a Cherish Box?", I had to ask. Just trying to understand what they do versus what another cleaner might do. After 2 1/2 minutes, he abruptly said he's busy and has to go. Not "I'm sorry...the shop is busy right now...can I call you back?" etc. When I'm going to spend $300+/- on cleaning a $3000 +/- gown, is it not ok to ask what's being done? Gosh. I was using this dry cleaner for a while until I put my favorite coat in for alteration and went it to pickup on the date that was given to me for pickup. Coat wasn't ready, they asked for more time and I then asked if I could get the coat cleaned. Then manager said no and told me not to every come back, I then asked for my coat and a refund of $75.00 that I prepaid. He looked a little shock of the price I was charged and that he had to refund me $75.00. I keep going back to Breit because it's convienent and reasonably priced, but their customer service is atrocious and their cleaning is only mediocre. The woman that I always seem to deal with never greets me but likes to make a spectacle of scrutinizing every piece of clothing I own and then informing me that she will have to charge me an extra $3 for hair removal. Have been going here for a few years and for the most part had zero problems. However, I picked up my clothes last week (as usual) and noticed severe stains on one of my blazers and blouses. I usually have a pre-treat on the collars of my blazers and blouses, however the collars appeared to be scorched. I immediately called for the owner to come over and he went on to tell me my hair probably bleeder on it. Which, I feel was a very racist statement. He then went on to say he could try and re-clean it, but wasn't optimistic. Basically, picked it up today and it's clear that my jacket and blouse was scorched. I then asked for the owner to come over and stated to him that they ruined my jacket and blouse and what where they going to do to replace it. He basically told me I brought it in that way and take him to court, no remorse or anything. After all the money spent at this place, this is how he treats his customers. So Mr. owner, you were so smug when you said take me to court, we'll let's see who will be smug in the courthouse. This is about principle and don't mind spending money in court to teach you that you can't just treat anyone any kind of way and smugly say take me to court. I've been going to Breit and Clean for 3 years now. I drop off my dress clothes there weekly. The staff is consistently friendly, and the owners are pretty hands on, and present frequently when I walk in. I've taken dress pants, shirts, and sport coats to their tailor and I've been pleased with the results. They are as good as can be realistically expected with getting stains out of my clothes. When I need my clothes on a quick turn around they've always been accommodating. Their pricing is very fair; having previously lived downtown, I can say that I save a lot of money now with my dry cleaning at Breit vs what I paid when living in the city. As a River Forest resident, I appreciate them as a good business that has provided me consistent, quality service. read more

I asked the attendant three times too not crease my unpleated flat front suit, when I dropped them off. I have had this issue at this cleaner and vowed to never go back. But wanting to support business locally, made another expensive mistake as they trashed another suit. Would not attempt to get crease out without talking to owner, as she said all suits have pleats and it is likely unfixable. The owner came out and said he had never seen a flat front suit, never? Ever? Hmmm? Make your own call, but from what I can see, go to poly in oak park or even cd one price, at least they have customer service. It's unfortunate that the manager appears to be honest and courteous....respectful of all, but blindsided by the fact that he now has a rude, defensive staff on hand. My husband and I have been going there for many years and until recently, earlier this year, I think, a new group of staff were hired. I.E...I mentioned that I spent over $25 and was expecting to get raffles toward the Weber Grill. To my surprise, shirts are not considered "dry cleaning items"...really??? Who Knew? Nonetheless, before I could request the raffles, the staff person had the response, quickly, abruptly and to the point. Also, my husband questioned about the shirts I put in on a Saturday, only to still find that they're not ready today Tuesday (AM). How's that??? My husband has been using this cleaner since they opened. I have reluctantly used them due to price. What a mistake!! I took our winter coats to be cleaned. When I picked them up, they were as dirty as when I dropped them off. I asked to speak to the manager. Mark said I should've pointed out where the coats were dirty. I asked if they cleaned them at all? His very sarcastic response was, "Of course, but you need to point out the dirt!" Seriously!! I need to do his job. My last visit was Yesterday. I picked up navy blazer I needed for a trip. When I went to put it on today, the left sleeve was snagged. My husband took the blazer back to discuss with Mark. Mark's response was the jacket was worn and could have very easily been snagged at home. He would do nothing. Problem is, it wasn't snagged at home. It was done at his business. Used to like this place. It is pay in advance, prices are reasonable, and service is usually good. I went in a couple months back needing a couple items only for an upcoming trip. When I handed my card to the girl working the counter she simply tapped a small sign on the counter stating the minimum amount to use a card. I am a long time regular customer and had never done a small order before. Not having any cash on me I asked if they could make an exception since I needed it for a trip, was only slightly below the minimum and a long time customer. The girl's response was not only negative, which would have been annoying but OK, but was also rude and insulting... Saying if I was a long time customer I should have known better. Being unhappy with the treatment of the staff and annoyed at the situation I gave my name and number to the staff and asked the, to let the owner know he probably just lost a customer and to please call me. I was going here for a few years. I was never a fan of pre-paying, but the prices are good. You get what you pay for though. It's not the best cleaning and the pressing is horrible. Most items need to be steamed at home to get out the extra creases. I tolerated all that because it was convenient and cheap. My tolerance ran out 3 weeks ago when I was picking up my clothes and after much time and 3 people scrambling and whispering, they brought my last piece of clothing. A blouse which they ruined (in the cleaning process they bled the trim color so it spread over the blouse). The lady blamed me saying I brought it in that way. It was brand new. First time getting cleaned. Here's why you lost my business and why I'm sharing it publicly, A). You ruined my blouse. B). You blamed me for you ruining my blouse. C).
