The staff was wonderful, cheerful and very welcoming from the time I walked in the door til the time I left. As a dentist, Dr. Gentry is excellent. I have no problem with her work, customer service, or professionalism. I have a big problem with her billing practices. I went here twice. One was urgent, one was a routine, semi-annual checkup and cleaning. My insurance company covers 100% of the routine checkup. It doesn't cover it all for the urgent appointment. Somehow, due to a coding error in their office, I was denied the 100% coverage for the preventative visit as a direct result of how they coded the first visit, which was not 100% covered either. Every time I called and asked about the bill, I'd be reassured they were handling it. They didn't. By the time I was completely aware of why the second visit wasn't fully covered, it was too late for me to get the insurance company to readdress the issue. I have made it clear I should not have to go out of pocket for an expense created as a direct result of their error. This is even more true when they didn't inform me of this issue in a timely manner so I could work with them to resolve it. This is for a small amount of money and I have withheld payment intentionally. They should eat it. Instead they filed with a collection agency, damaging my credit. This is wholly unprofessional and I will never recommend anyone use this office as a result. read more

I have been going to Dr. Gentry's office for 8 years and I transferred all my kids' dental care from a pediatric dentist clinic over to her office because I fell in love with my oral hygienist, Tori. Dr. Gentry and her staff are a solid team because they provide high quality of dental services for sure. I recently chipped my front upper tooth and it was making me kind of depressed and I find myself not smiling as much. With this whole coronavirus pandemic going on, I was kind of glad that I have my mask on so that others couldn't witness my front chipped tooth and awkward smiles. I was not impressed with my experience at this office. It was strange to get a tour where I had to stare at the certificates of my dentist; one would assume their dentist had adequate qualifications. My husband and I both had the same experience; it was a hard sell of braces and a $500 mouth guard, I didn't feel like my overall dental health was priority. I will not be back. read more

We just weren't impressed with Dr.Gentry. She's very salesy and her bedside manner is a bit lacking. She has a way of almost talking down to you. She recommended that I have a dental implant placed where I had a molar pulled all the way in the bottom back of my mouth over 20 years ago. I expressed that I didn't see a reason to spend thousands of dollars for a missing tooth that no one sees and wasn't bothering me (the tooth had cracked years earlier when my wisdom teeth were removed, then had been crowned, got infected and then finally pulled-all over 20 years ago). She pointed out little fracture lines in some of the other molars that she said were due to the additional stress from the redistributed pressure of my bite. She said not having the implant was making the fractures and would ultimately crack another tooth. She spoke to me almost as if she were explaining to a child and that rubbed me the wrong way, but I bit my tongue because I don't feel it was intentional. The next time I came in, the implant was again brought up (this implant would have cost~5k after my Delta dental insurance covered their portion). My husband was billed a hundred plus when he went in for his check up and cleaning. Our dental insurance didn't cover his cleaning (mine was 100% covered) because they billed for a special intensive type of cleaning that is only covered once in the insured's lifetime and my husband had that type of cleaning already a few years earlier at our previous dentist. He said the cleaning didn't seem any different from a normal cleaning. She sold him some tooth gel for ~$45 & also said he had a cavity. We each did 2 or 3 appointments with her to give her a fair shake. I was hoping that maybe I had just caught her on a bad day. I found her on yelp via the reviews.Nope, that's her. It was not even so much what she said, but the tone she used when explaining anything. We have since switched to Dr. Burk and couldn't be happier. His entire office has a better vibe. Not pretentious or salesy, but caring and warm. You can tell that the entire staff just loves him. He seems to really know his stuff and he's the furthest thing from a salesman. Interesting to note: He found no cavity in my husband's mouth and he told me that he can find fracture lines on most all adult's teeth. He wouldn't reccomend a dental implant unless I wanted one, since the missing tooth is not causing me any trouble. Why 2 stars for Dr.Gentry? Her hygienist was awesome. Very personable. The worst experience I've ever had at a dentist. Didn't seem to know how to give a shot to deaden my mouth and instead had to give me 10+ shots for 1 crown. Shamed me for taking 1/2 a xanex to sit thru this nightmare. So much ridiculous machinery for diagnosis, but no skill to do a crown w/o excruciating pain. So rude to her nurses. This review is purely regarding billing. Prior to my first visit, I confirmed with their office that they accept my insurance. What I did not know was that they accept ALL insurances, but not whether I was in network or out of network. After two separate appointments, I received a bill that was $150 additional of what I had already paid. As with most dental offices, patients must sign a form acknowledging that their estimate is an estimate and patients are responsible for overages. I completely understand as they cannot be correct all of the time. My issue is that at no time was I informed I was out-of-network. Now having spoken to my insurance, they informed me that some of my tests/procedures would have been covered 100% had Dr. Gentry been at an in-network provider. When speaking to the office manager she said she did not know being out of network would have been a concern for me. I think this would be a concern for most patients! Generally, if not all the time, out-of-network visits are much more expensive. Being a new patient, I was not willing to spend the extra money for a doctor I didn't know. Secondly, she explained that sometimes they are not able to confirm if a patient is in-network patient on the first visit. Understood, but why didn't' they inform me before my second visit (which was much more costly) that my procedures would not be covered under my particular plan and provide me with an updated estimate? Having the office say yes they accept my insurance was very misleading. So please be aware if you are a new patient, you need to ask if the Dr. Gentry is in-network, not whether they accept your insurance. As noted, it may take the office time to confirm. Take the time! My experience could be considered customer error, but I do not work in the insurance arena. I expect dental providers to be direct and forthcoming. I may not know the right terminology, but they understand this business, costs and concerns with billing and insurances. read more

Beautifully appointed, professional very friendly staff that go above and beyond.... and then they charge you for it. Unnecessary procedure without disclosing cost, 30% charge above insurance covered rates without disclosure, and no apology or willingness to work with me on the additional $127 due at the end of a general exam and X-ray appointment. I have NEVER paid for dental above and beyond what my insurance covers and so it didn't cross my mind to ask for a price list (my bad for sure!!). If you go here, just ask for a price list and what your insurance covers because if you don't, you will be out of pocket the difference read more

Dr. Gentry is always mindful of pain and eliminates it completely. She's had to correct a lot of work from previous dentists, but I've never had any issues with her dental work. This office is very pretentious and stuck on itself. If they had a whole lot less fluff and fuss, it might be palatable. Expensive looking furniture, "hygiene suites" and a lot of glass doors and pretentious moves from one office to another don't take the place of actual real service and dental work. And the employee that volunteered how she didn't like the atmosphere working there and all the high-brow fluff took the cake!!! I never actually met the dentist, yet I spent 2 hours with their used car salesmen and bouncers, I mean office manager and receptionist - and all I needed was an estimate. They need to get over themselves and their very cheap oriental trading company gifts they went on and on about "giving" to me like I won a million dollars. The bag was worth more than their precious gift... and my wasted time was certainly worth more than all of it combined. Won't be going here for anything, not even a used car. read more

We were referred here by our co-worker, when my wife needed a same day appointment to check on my wife's wisdom teeth extraction that was done by another dentist. Our original dentist (who we will no longer see) did not give us a heads up before or during the procedure that he was leaving town for a few days so we were left scrambling for another dentist when the pain and swelling kept getting worst. Staff- Stephanie is super helpful, very professional, caring, and answered all our questions. Dr. Gentry is great. She saw my wife that same day and did what she needed to do. Dr. Gentry made me feel so comfortable. i'm terrified of doctors in general and no one likes a needle in your mouth. she explains everything as she's doing it, so no surprises. her assistant is also very calming. she took my blood pressure several times throughout my procedures, she informed me every reading was very high for someone of my age (25) and for someone who is sitting still. she scared me enough to go to my primary care giver. and i am now on blood pressure medication! years from now i'll be thanking her still. also this office is super clean and welcoming. This review is also about billing. I had the EXACT same experience as Linda L. I do not believe this to be a coincidence, I believe this is their business model. I asked on my initial visit if they were in-network I was told yes. However, to my surprise I paid about $100 that same day. On my next visit, which was a cleaning, I knew I was being swindled when I had to pay $80. Full disclosure I did get fluoride which I expected to pay for, but that was only about $30. I had initially posted good reviews and then I found out how awful their billing practices are. In an effort to sum it up, they indicated I needed a special "deep clean" and so I asked repeatedly about my insurance covering and was given an "estimate" of what my insurance would cover and told that my out of pocket is all I would need to pay. We straddled the appointments over the calendar because my insurance didn't cover much and I couldn't afford all of the payments at once. I referred a coworker to them and the coworker was dismayed by all of the charges, expenses, and work they said she needed done and went to second opinion. The other dentist was shocked at the amount of work Dr. Gentry's office said she needed. She got the work done she needed done at a fraction of the cost. So I decided to switch too. Over a year later, I was contacted by the office indicating that my insurance had denied my claims for the deep clean and I owed them $600+ When I indicated my shock at this cost, she reminded me that the costs I had received were only "estimates" and I was still responsible. They were able to reduce the bill to just under $500, but this is crazy and irresponsible. I explained that I would have never had that deep clean done if I had known my insurance wouldn't cover it completely and was basically told "sorry, it was only an estimate". That is insane. I have filed complaints everywhere I can and will continue to make sure everyone knows how awful this practice is. They are clearly overcharging and over estimating how much work needs to be done. I am very disappointed with the customer service I received today at my appointment. This dental office is not family or kid friendly, at all. I had my four year old child with me today for my appointment. I thought for sure she would be able to wait in the room with me while I had my cleaning done. When I arrived, I filled out some paperwork, and waited in the lobby for awhile. The secretary then came out and said that she noticed I had my little one with me and that I would have to reschedule my appointment. I asked her if my child could come back to the room with me and she said no. Kids are not allowed to wait in the front lobby(unless they are 14 she said) or come to the dental room with you. What are single parents or parents who have their child with them during the summer suppose to do? This dental office is NOT kid friendly at all. I would not recommend them if you have to take a child with you to a dental appointment. I will not be returning to this office. read more

Dr. Gentry is WONDERFUL and possibly the best doctor (not just dentist!) I've ever been to. Their office is state of the art, stylish, and peaceful. What they promise on their website (which is very well done) is exactly what you get, no BS. The pricing is reasonable/standard and no pressure to pay for unnecessary treatments or that "you have to do it right this minute" sales pitch other than an honest "you really should, please let us help you." I had a temporary crown put in and she personally (not her office) called me the same day to see how I was doing. As a young professional myself, I want to be like Dr. Gentry when I grow up! Giving myself some credit she has 17years of experience compared to my five but I definitely have a new standard for myself.
