The only positive thing that came from my few visits to Renwick Dentistry was finding my current dentist (who was a previous sub at this office & has since started a wonderful practice of her own). My few interactions with Ms. Renwick were unpleasant, as her demeanor was abrasive and condescending during each visit, leading me to only request appointments on the days she was out of office. I scheduled a deep cleaning with Renwick Dentistry - spread out over 2 days - and for the most part their work was fine. Dr. Renwick struggled to administer anesthesia correctly on the second day, but otherwise her work and that of her assistant was what I hoped for. What sets Renwick apart from other dentists though is the poor service. They were 45 minutes late for both appointments. Both the staff and Dr. Renwick were only interested in getting me out the door as quickly as possible. They also made no apology for the continuous mistakes that turned a simple checkout into a 30 minute ordeal. While this office isn't completely bad, their overall quality is definitely below average. read more

Unlike one of the previous reviews - I DO understand the negative reviews. I start seeing red flags pop up when I go to a dentist for the first time and they refuse to do a basic routine cleaning (covered entirely by insurance) in favor of a more thorough "deep cleaning" - which adds an additional charge. I get a "treatment plan" that covers all kinds of "necessary" procedures that have to be done - some, before the end of the year and a portion after the first of the year (when a new insurance year starts?). Of course- I also have a problem with a talkative hygienist who asks the same questions 3 times and diagnoses "issues". Doctor Renwick comes in, talks down to me, highly insulting and treats me like I was 12 years old and had never been to a dentist in my life. Of course, they were willing to let me pay the balances off - and they did offer several - according to them - needed products and services to correct my apparently horrible teeth. Keep in mind - my teeth are not green, they do not glow in the dark and I have been to a dentist recently. I tried this particular dentist because I wanted someone close to my home They want to charge me several hundred dollars for services and procedures that have not been mentioned by any dentist ever - including the dentist I saw 6 months ago. makes me wonder how many, poor unsuspecting patients fall for this - I feel like I might as well have gone to a chain, large volume, prey on the poor dentists in a strip center somewhere.. read more

My family and I have been going to Dr. Renwick for several years and every visit is a positive one (even when you're mouth is all numb and stupid-looking). When I made an appointment at Renwick Dentistry, I expected friendly, helpful & ethical service. Instead, I encountered pushy salespeople. Don't get me wrong - some of the staff at Renwick were friendly. One person did apologize for my 2 hour wait. The dentist however was very rude. I overheard her talking with another patient & insulting him for not having enough money to cover the procedures she felt he needed. She pushed him to sign up for a dental credit card. He let her know he had been denied in the past due to his credit rating. She said something along the lines of, "Well they usually don't deny people unless they have horrible credit - you should try applying again." When the dentist finally saw me for my appointment, she recommended a root canal. I got a second opinion & it turned out the root canal was completely unnecessary. I've been going to Renwick dentistry (in Round Rock, TX -- it states Austin, TX above) since January 2005. I've only experienced compassion and empathy from the Dr and staff. No one likes going to the dentist, but these guys make the experience awesome. Where to start: Always greeted with smiles by the receptionist, Michelle. She is always personable asking about wife, children and elderly mother. My dental hygienist, she is the 2nd one I've had because my previous moved out of state by way of her husband's job transfer (I miss you Jamie!). Virtually no turnover and my dental hygienist is always nice, gentle and compassionate when cleaning my teeth. The transition to the new one was a piece of cake. Dr. Renwick is the best. we high five all the time and she's always checking up on my little ones, asking how they are doing, very personable as well. Does great with my kids in checking them. We've had quite a few problems and she would always give advice and then suggest a children's specialist for a second opinion. I've never been held up in waiting area, never been treated with disrespect, always greeted with a huge smile and very personable. I have been going to Dr. Renwick for over 13 years and love her and her team. They are warm, friendly, knows me and my kids by name, very accommodating if I needed to reschedule an apt and messages me reminders. Give us all our options and no pressure, not once in 13 years. My kids love it there, always wanting to be the first one in for their cleaning ;) and visiting with Dr. Renwick. I highly recommend this practice for both adults and children, she understands and comforts me and my kids when one of us was nervous about a procedure, and this made us relaxed and had a good experience. I grew up fearing the dentist but no more, I'm blessed my kids will grow up taking care of their mouth because of the positive warm experiences they have had at Dr. Renwick.
