Had an unprofessional and disappointing experience with this stylist. I received haircut and noticed it was slightly slanted and uneven the next morning (see photo). When I asked her for a touchup the next day (not requesting a refund), she became very upset and blamed me for cutting my hair incorrectly, stating that I must have taken scissors to it to ruin it and that she would call law enforcement if I ever came near her business again (see screenshot). I had to find another salon to correct the unevenness and spent even more money than originally. I have some of the most thickest hair and she knew exactly how to handle it. I am in love with my new look and will be a return customer. I almost purchased the Groupon I saw for her and after a consult call and reading the fine print decided that what I wanted did not fit the Groupon. Finally! I've found a hairstylist who actually listens to my hairstyle ideas AND delivers! I've been having the worst time finding someone who will cut my hair the way I want it. How difficult can it be to get the haircut I ask for? It turns out it's nearly impossible. My huge issue was expecting to get a quality style at one of those low-budget assembly line cutting places. You get what you pay for and it definitely showed. I searched online and decided to go with Brenda. Yes, Brenda's services are what I would call high end hair styling, but I was done with the $16 budget cuts. Brenda took her time to explain what she felt needed to be done to my hair to finally get it to where I wanted it. She used an amazing shampoo and conditioner, perfect for my hair and from there she explained each step to me in detail. She took her time to shape, blowout and style my hair and I LOVE it! When I woke up this morning (my cut was just last evening) it looked exactly like it did when I left Brenda's salon. If anyone is expecting a high quality cut, blowout and style for under $50 they're fooling themselves. I went to Brenda when all I needed/wanted was a trim only. We've all had some sort of experience when the stylist cuts off more because they believe it's best for you, but some of us are just not ready for that much to be cut off. Seeing all these positive reviews about Brenda gave me hope. Brenda was kind, patient, and understood my concerns. I try not to give bad reviews on businesses, but I feel that the experience that I had at this establishment warrants the need for the public to know the type of place this is. Here are the facts. I purchased a Groupon so I could try out a place that was near my work. I called to set up an appointment telling the proprietor that I wanted a men's haircut. I told her that I had a Groupon for a men's haircut that I wanted to use, and she said that I could use it. So, I get there after work and tell her how I would like my hair cut. My hair is straight like grass so it shouldn't be too difficult to cut. Nevertheless, right before she is about to start, she tells me that she can't accept my Groupon because that is meant for only a basic haircut. I asked what the difference between a basic haircut and the haircut that I was asking for. She said that my haircut would require the use of scissors and thus would take more time to cut. My jaw dropped to the floor. The fact that she has different levels of haircut for men is preposterous. I can only imagine what the basic haircut is like. Needless to say, she refused to cut my hair unless I paid her more for it at which point she kicked me out. Clearly, her passion is not in her craft and is in it just for the money. read more

I liked Brenda as a person, but not a big fan of her work. When I came in, I purchased a deal on yelp and when I mentioned that to her, she asked me how can she redeem it. I expected her to know that since that's a deal she put up, however, she called customer service of yelp at that moment and we spent a good 45 min trying to figure it out. I wanted a longer bob (going from shoulder length hair) and I wanted to go a little darker but still have highlights . So a mixture of highlights with lowlights. She just added lowlights and said after a wash it'll be what I want, and the cut took a really long time, I totally understood because I know it's a difficult cut. But when I got home, I had to have a pair of scissors with me for a while and cut the long strands that were uneven(long strands where the short strands should be). Now she was nice and said I can come back if I found strands that needed to be cut, but I have a 3 month old baby, and I don't have time to go back and forth.. I had a hair lady for 7 years before this, when I lived in California and I paid 120$ with tip, for highlights , mixed in with lowlights, and a cut. Now, I was ok with paying more, but 160$ for not even full partial lowlights and a cut? I don't know, I definitely thought it was a bit too much.. she is sweet and I understand that she had to charge what she charges, I just thought my hair would look a lot better for 160$. After 2 washes the lowlights blended completely into my previous highlights and now it just looks like one color. Definitely not what I wanted.. I gave 3 stars because she was really nice, but other then that... and to your reply: first of all, it doesn't matter what I paid, YOUR ad said I was paying 100$ for 150$ worth of work. I ended paying 130$ total, if it wasn't for YOUR ad, it would have been 190$ and frankly, it def wasn't worth that- I didn't think it was worth the 130$ I had paid. Secondly, u didn't spend 5hrs- because u took 45min to call yelp and another 45 min to do another hair cut in between doing my hair appt. Thirdly, it's not my problem that you didn't get the money yet, the ad that was advertised on yelp, was posted by YOU. You needed to figure that out beforehand instead of making a customer wait while u argue with yelp about them sending u a check instead of direct deposit. I paid what u charged in full and tipped nicely just for the sake of kindness. If the deals don't work out for you or you don't know how to get paid through yelp, don't offer the deals. read more

Zero stars if able. I saw this place on groupon and it was priced at $16. I called the stylist and asked if she preferred I purchase the groupon and she said that price shouldn't be on the site but since it was, she would honor the price. The next day I show up and as I am sitting the in the chair she goes about explaining her price structure. She states that $16 price is for a basic haircut and while I am asking for something that is more than a basic haircut so the price for my haircut would be $24 (or $25-cant remember which exactly). I said well the groupon didn't differentiate between a basic haircut and not a basic haircut and she repeated herself saying that $16 price is for a basic haircut. I actually have a screen shot of the groupon and before posting this review went back and made sure there wasn't anything in the fine print and there wasn't. In fact not only was the price at $16 for "One Men's Haircut" but it also included a "Beard Trim" (not that I wanted that or would have ask her to do that either). I never post bad reviews but for this instance I had to do something. Seemed like she wasn't being professional and was trying to make more money instead of actually honoring her own groupon deal. I don't know how her skills are as a person who cuts hair but as a businesswomen she isn't that great. Good luck to all! My family recently relocated from NyC to Dallas and it's been challenging to find the right hair stylist. Not only is Brenda great for me, but she did an amazing job on my hubby's hair too. Brenda listened to what I wanted to do, asked questions to make sure we were on the same page and delivered a great result. I am happy with how my cut looks, but unfortunately I'm not happy with the service I received. I made an appointment online for a $35 women's haircut for a trim. I apparently got the "deluxe" haircut and I ended up paying $30 more for the deluxe haircut plus toner (which was a toner conditioner that I can purchase and use at home, which really didn't do much either) and for having longer hair. I also had to go back because the face framing layers were not even on both sides, but she was available for me to get that done right away. I definitely wish I had known that I would be charged extra prior to having these services done, especially since both of us knew I had signed up for a $35 haircut. read more

My friend and I tried Brenda as we were so frustrated going to a pricey salons and not getting the results we needed especially for their exorbitant prices. Brenda was very professional and explained her process at length so you were all on the same page. My friend's hair color and cut are the best I've ever seen on her. I was extremely happy with my own cut and color service as well. Not only is she quick and efficient but her prices cannot be beat and it's really economical especially if you are used to paying twice as much at salons and not get the same results as Brenda.
