Delicious chocolate chip cookies at turn-down service every evening plus pure filtered water, juices, Nespresso coffee and sodas included. Plus lovely fragrant Bulgari toiletries in the big bathroom with a separate water closet, nice civilized touch. There's a restaurant on premises, rooftop deck with mini golf putting. We didn't stay at The Brenton Hotel, but spent a lovely afternoon at their bar and were genuinely impressed by the hospitality. Kathy at the concierge was incredibly accommodating and welcoming right from the start, making us feel comfortable and taken care of. At the bar, Olivia was wonderful pouring and guiding us through the wines, while Maurice was the true star of the show. His cocktails were exceptional--thoughtfully crafted, perfectly balanced, and clearly made by someone who takes real pride in their craft. Emmett also stood out as someone who truly understands hospitality--polished, attentive, and naturally great with guests. Even without staying overnight, the experience alone makes The Brenton worth a visit. We'll absolutely be back. Next time for an overnight stay! read more

I was in Newport for a book club resort and stayed at this gorgeous hotel a stone's throw from the water. My room was spectacular and very spacious. The bed was so inviting, and I had a sofa and table to relax at. There was plenty of storage. The Nespresso machine was a delightful perk every morning, complete with pods and creamers. I appreciated the complimentary canned juice & soda in fridge. The roomy shower had large pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The accompanying body lotion and bar soap were on the sink. The was a separate toilet space with door and it was eco-flush friendly. I did not have a full balcony, but did have a Juliet with a sliding door to let in some air. With the turn-down service at bedtime, a package of housemade cookies were left on my pillow each night. The lobby is on the second floor, where the check-in desks are. There is a bar and cafe. The seating is plentiful and comfortable. Our group's breakfast buffet and tea time buffet were both held in the lobby and were just beautiful. Lovely hotel, lobby, rooms, service, valet, food. Great location and walkable to so much shopping and restaurants. My only complaint is that the $40/day parking (down to $20 in Nov) was a tad high. When I asked for walking directions to the Vanderbilt, the valet drove me in the hotel's Mercedes SUV. I would absolutely stay here again if I were to return. read more

I did not stay here. However, I love coming to their lounge/bar area at the hotel. It is known as the "Living Room". They have very comfortable chairs and sections to sit. It has an amazing view from the harbor. They have a limited food menu but everything I have had has been delicious. I have been a few times and each experience has been wonderful. This night my girlfriends and I were out in a progressive dinner having different bites at a few places. We went here for my favorite their fig and prosciutto flatbread pizza. It is so yummy. We had a few drinks. It's quiet so you can hear your friends conversations. I love going here. In the summer they have a rooftop deck that has more great views of the harbor and nice place to get a drink. The staff is always so nice here. This is my hidden gem location. Beautiful hotel that is modern and clean. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, which is rare. They are clearly well trained to provide good hospitality. The marina view room has a wonderful view with a very large floor to ceiling window. The pantries on each floor that have filtered water filling stations and ice cream are a nice touch, as are the cookies provided with turndown service. The Bulgari toiletries in the bathrooms are high quality. Overall I highly recommend the Brenton despite the price I found it worth it. read more

Fun new hotel with nice vibe. We enjoyed sitting in "The Living Room" for happy hour and breakfast. Staff was kind, helpful though it seemed like they could have used more help. Menus were great-- including diverse, healthy options for Sunday brunch. They offered bikes for use and we loved the free ice cream on each floor. We were especially happy to use our Chase Sapphire benefit; by booking through the travel portal we received a $100 credit to spend in the hotel as well as free breakfast. We visit Newport a few times a year but this was our first seat at the Brenton. Definitely not the last! It's become my new fav hotel after our overnight stay on my birthday, Fri. April 12. Upon entering their parking garage, Jack greeted us so warmly and set our stay off on the right foot. Aiden at the front desk checking us in was equally friendly and welcoming. The hotel is new and beautiful! Our room was small (as expected) but nicely appointed. The shower head wasn't the best but not a deal breaker. The "living room" was great for after dinner cocktails and a light bite. The espresso martini was a standout. Also a nice touch that the kitchen on every floor had water and a freezer full of ice cream snacks. Great location, walkable to shops and restaurants. Every staff member was so kind and welcoming. What a wonderful, modern take on a luxurious water front hotel. When guest have numerous choices of stay in Newport, including hotels, BnB, guest houses, AirBNB, etc. It is hard to beat the convenience and the location. The check in process is so easy and hassle free that took less than 5 minutes. The valet staff was friendly and efficient with our luggage. An amazing experience. It started with the valet (I believe Jacob) helped get everything loaded up and too our room. I asked him for recommendations and he was helpful. Both the morning and night bartenders were great. Any request I had the were able to accommodate. There was no gym but they gave me a pass to the hotel that was 500 feet away and it had a really nice gym. Would definitely come back. The hotel's architectural details were very thoughtfully designed (former architect here. :) This hotel deserves a 10 stars if I could give it. We stayed for 3 days and absolutely enjoyed every moment. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. Breakfast and room service dinner were fresh and delicious! Chris, the Valet gentleman, made us feel very welcoming the moment we walked in. This hotel is extremely clean and dog friendly. Whole family came for day after Thanksgiving tradition at 2:30 on Black Friday afternoon for drinks. We asked for a drink menu and were told it was only beer and wine available, even though all the other parties at the restaurant were drinking cocktails and the employee was actively mixing a drink as she was stating there was no bartender available until 4. Our grandmother arrived at 3 and went up for a drink and then they told her the bar was completely closed from 3-3:30. This left a very unhappy group with a bad taste in our mouth - we will not be back. It's unbelievable to have a fully booked Newport hotel during a major holiday weekend and have such poor customer service. read more

Brenton Hotel is a clean, beautiful, dog-friendly hotel conveniently located near many of the popular Newport attractions. The service is pretty good for the most part. The valet, restaurant, and bar staff were on point but the front desk staff service was a little bit variable-- they were certainly trying but we encountered confusion at times (maybe the few folks we interacted with might need more training?). The concierge was also helpful, giving suggestions on what to do and offering to call places to make reservations. The rooms are nice-- simple and clean with a modern, nautical decor. There's no gym in the building but you can get a guest pass to go to a neighboring hotel gym. Overall we had a great experience. I would definitely stay at Brenton Hotel again! read more

I travel a lot and have seen many hotels. This one was quite special and in a very good way. We escaped for a few days and stayed with our dog in room 520 The star of the hotel is actually its staff. They really want you to stay at their hotel and are happy to assist and pay you tons of attention. (MGT if you are reading this, you are here because of them they actually care!) Hard product: The rooms and the common spaces are designed to perfection in a very apropos way to reflect its prefect location close to everything. The complimentary car service is perfect. The water filters to get drinking water is something that other hotels need to copy. The ice cream drawer is super unexpected and cute. Let us not forget the Bvlgary shampoo and body wash. again perfect. Soft product: The people, the food, the service, the attention to detail. Items to update: a nightlight is needed for the bathroom. Maybe pillow options? Mattress change? All in all, I would come here again in a heartbeat! read more

Exceptional! I want to start out by saying that I never write reviews but the Brenton Hotel deserves some love! My son and I spent a week at the Brenton Hotel just last week. This is our annual trip together and our first time at the Brenton. I had been communicating with Rachel regarding my reservation and she couldn't have been nicer to assist me with my dates, length of stay etc.. I requested a few items for our room and Rachel was on top it- her follow up was amazing and she couldn't have been nicer! We unfortunately got into Newport pretty late, but Debbie was graciously waiting for our arrival at 10:45pm. She had communicated by email with me once we landed and had the restaurant prepare some food before closing for the evening and made sure it was in our room before we arrived! Debbie went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect when we walked into our room! And, it was! The hotel is really beautiful! It is an upscale and modern boutique hotel with a lot of natural sunlight coming through the floor to ceiling windows. The 2nd floor lobby is really relaxing, has a nice bar and lots of places to lounge, mingle, etc. Our room was very lovely, clean, modern and a nice size that overlooked the harbor. It was large enough for a king size bed, the chaise lounge with the addition of the love seat connected plus a round table, a leather chair and ottoman. We also had a roll away bed that fit in our room as well! The layout was done very well. The A/C worked beautifully and it was actually very quiet which was surprising being on the corner of a busy street and on the harbor. Our valet guys were so sweet! Hendrik and Joe went out of there way to chat with us and ask us about our day, what we did, how we were doing, etc.. Hendrik offered to take us in the hotel car to dinner one night so I didn't have to drive and find parking and picked us up after! Joe was awesome too and a perfect gentleman! If you're lucky enough, (like we were)- you will meet Andy, the GM. Andy is a rockstar and is running a great crew of people at the Brenton! The customer service is 5 star and they go out of their way to make your stay wonderful, memorable and yearning for your return! I am a big fan of "boutique" hotels, and based on our recent experience, this one has earned top spot on the "short list" of places to return to when we need accommodations in the Newport area. Well decorated, meticulously maintained rooms, attentive concierge and valet service, as well as very good breakfast in the "living room" all contributed to a great two night stay. On demand sparkling (or still) water at no charge from soda makers located in the guest room corridor (to be brought back to the rooms in stoppered glass bottles) is a nice added touch. Aside from undersized, lightweight towels not quite becoming of a "top tier" hotel, really nothing to quibble about. Will return! read more

Some girlfriends and I stayed at this hotel from a Friday to Sunday The Good The hotel was gorgeous and very well decorated! The valet and bellboy were very kind and gracious. The Bad The front desk staff was less then friendly, they actually seemed annoyed when we asked a question or brought something up to their attention. For example, I had used the restroom just outside of the living room, and noticed that the first stall was gross, the second stall had dried pee all over the seat, and the third stall was manageable. I could have gone back to my room, but didn't want to wake my friend. When I cam back to the table to said something to my friend I was having breakfast with, she said she told the front desk the same thing about an hour to an hour and a half earlier. The service in the living room was also less then par, both for breakfast and drinks in the afternoon. I had a plain bagel and cream cheese, and it was the same bagel my kids receive at school. So sad. When I asked what the sweet treat of the day was, the waiter responded - "vanilla yogurt", and I commented, "that's what it was yesterday", he replied, "well they didn't sell - so it's the special again today!" I was definitely not going to get that! The rainfall shower seemed lovely, but then there was no pressure at all. And our room smelled kind of musty, we left the door open as much as possible to help! I would stay here again, maybe during the peak season, with it being a newer hotel and with COVID - maybe they haven't worked out the kinks yet. read more

This was our first time visiting Newport. We liked the Brenton. It was very clean, a decent location(everything was in walking distance,) modern rooms with a comfortable bed and a good shower. Bicycles were available at no charge. Water was always available as well. The Wifi was strong too. The service was good. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. If you are staying here I would recommend the water side and a room above the 2nd floor. We were told the hotel was sold out, but to be honest we never saw anyone so not sure. Our room was on the 2nd floor, street side and was very noisy until 11pm and again first thing in the morning (7am) . We were there this weekend so I can only imagine how much noisier it could be at the height of Summer. The other issue I had was with the Air conditioning. I just couldn't get the room cool enough and it wasn't especially warm out. The lobby is really cute and the bar is big and bright. read more

He would casually talk with us every time we came and went for the whole trip. He was genuine and a pleasure to deal with. He was very knowledgeable of the hotel and all its amenities. He was a good man inside and out. I hope he's appreciated there as he made our trip very wonderful. Sarah was a doll. She was the most pleasant front desk worker we have ever encountered. The rooms are so modern and clean I might have to go back and edit my other Yelp reviews of other hotels when I said they were the best hotel I've ever stayed at, because Brenton WAS and IS the nicest hotel we've ever stayed at, and we've traveled a lot. They had a room with free water, free Ice cream, Italian ices and ice cream sandwiches. The beds were more comfortable than my own bed at home, we had a water view and they had a couch with a leg rest right in front, something I'm not used to seeing, great addition!! I sat there and read for hours. It was so peaceful. All the windows and walls must be noise cancelling as we never heard a peep from inside or out, but if you opened the door you could hear noise, it shows the extent they went to make sure their rooms buffered out as much sound as possible. I could go on for hours about how great the Brenton and employees are. We will definitely be back. In our opinion there is no other hotels to consider when we go back. Came to Newport to spend the New Years weekend. The bad: Air Conditioning was not very cold in the room during the night Room Service took way too long Lava cake was cold Thats All This hotel is very new and modern. Arrived to an extremely nice valet service. A young man helped us around the hotel and brought all of our bags into our room. He was very nice and we entered up seeing more of him during our stay. First night we went out to dinner. Their shuttle service was a 2021 Mercedes Benz. The same valet guy (Hendrick) drove us there and back from our dinner. Talked about his life and what he likes about the hotel and Newport. He was a joy to have in the car and made this trip better. During our second day, we had breakfast room service in the hotel, which may I say took a while to arrive at the room. They ended up "forgetting" our food which could be expected during a busy weekend like New Years. New Years Eve we came back to the hotel for desserts and drinks. The lava cake was cold instead of its usual warmth u would expect. Food was mid but the ambiance great to watch the College Bowl games and the ball drop. We were offered late check out (4pm) New Year's Day, and we gladly took it. Overall, to the small things like the complementary ice cream freezer on every floor to the great valet services it really goes to show how a modern small hotel can really be a great time. read more

I only write reviews for exceptional service. You can guess that means I don't write many. We are residents of Newport and our house is under construction so we have stayed at the Brenton twice now. We know Newport and this new hotel is simply amazing. The staff are phenomenal, the bar/restaurant and Maurice the bartender A++++. But they do it right! Free wine and champagne before the bar opens during check in, free ice cream sandwiches (multiple kinds) at the ice machine for the kids...and adults! More like an expensive holiday inn. I thought it was going to be a more high end experience. We got a PH room that cost nearly $1000 per night and the room was really small and quite Spartan. There weren't the usually bathroom amenities I expect to see in a Hotel of this price range. No shower cap/ Q-tip/ cotton balls in toiletries. No slippers for their cold tile floors, no concierge to help with reservations. There was nowhere to sit in the room except on the bed. No sitting area unless you hang out in the lobby. The towels are very thin, and small. Not the thick, luxurious towels I expect when I see the MATOUK logo. These are definitely the lower end towels in that collection. The blow dryer was ok, but had no 'directional' spout to prevent you from scorching your hair when drying. The pillows are synthetic lumpy pillows, not down pillows. We were told that there was a 'pantry' on our floor that would provide ice cream treats...only to find the freezer was empty and out of order. We were supposed to have a fridge in our room, however that was broken too. We instead got a small fridge put in our room. If you want to make a cup of coffee in your room, there are no mugs or larger cups, only the demi-tasse espresso cups. And no stirrers to blend your coffee/cream. I had to request that on our second day. Oh and the valet was surly and not friendly at all. He never smiled. All in all, it was a disappointment to stay there. I would not recommend this hotel. read more
