I just adopted a couple dogs this month. One is a female, Pika, and she needed stitches from and incident with another dog. I took her to Breton Vet. She had "Shy!" written on her paperwork and she was somewhat withdrawn with some people. She and I hit it off right away. The shelter gave us a coupon for a free vet visit for a different vet (I won't mention who so I won't embarrass them) and I did take her there for a well pet visit - however... it didn't go well. She shook like crazy when we walked in the door (I have no idea why, there was no one inside except the staff behind the desk) and when the vet came in to see her she peed when she was shaking. Back to Breton Vet. Pika was calm in comparison. No shaking. No peeing. She did want to crawl in my lap (she is 50 pounds of lap dog) but other than that, not much. Just looking around and chilling. When Dr Fenwick came in she was a good girl, no shaking, no peeing - and they put a thermometer in the uncomfortable place. Pika was a champ. She was very calm but shy. Certainly not the same exhibition I saw before. This gave me a great comparison in how vets treat pets. Also the difference in one that was corporate vs one that wasn't (Breton is private). There is a much different feeling in a corporate vet office just like a doctor office. A pet can feel it and so can a person. Sort of like the difference between Kieser Permanente and a small doctor practice. There is a calmness and a lack of bean counters that you can feel. When you know that you are more than a number, you can feel it and so can your dog. I know I would rather go to smaller practices locally than Medstar when I can. Same feeling. Anyway. That is just my take. This is up to you. I like Dr Fenwick and her team. They are calm and competent. They keep up on the latest practices and do continuing education. I like it when my dog is not a bundle of nerves. read more

I have used a couple other vets in the area, but Breton Veterinary really stands out as one of the very best. Dr. Fenwick is an excellent diagnostic vet, and has the tools and ongoing education to help keep your furry family members healthy. This is a fully functional hospital. That means a lot when I am looking for a vet to handle a senior or even a younger animal. My Shiba Wolfey has had several bouts of vertigo, scary to watch, but it resolves. Now he has arthritis and is still quite a character at 16 years old. At no time did Dr Fenwick tell me we couldn't make him comfortable and help him continue to live a long life. He is dramatic, but that is the Shiba way. The staff here knows Wolfey and his craziness but they are incredibly kind because they love all animals and it shows. I have heard about other vets, but honestly, I don't think I would trust anyone as much as Dr Fenwick. She and her staff are honest and have great compassion and communication with people as well as animals. read more

Dr. Fenwick was my parents' vet and treated all of my childhood pets. We always received excellent care for both routine exams and more complicated health issues. Now I bring my own. The staff is always thorough, never make you feel rushed out the door, and really take the time to answer your questions. Continuity of care is a real differentiator- you see the same people every time, not a revolving door of new faces. Dr. Fenwick listens, remembers details, and looks at the whole picture to investigate health issues. She gives honest, no nonsense recommendations, and the staff is always upfront with pricing. Breton Veterinary Hospital in my opinion is the best in the county. The staff is super friendly and are always accommodating for my dog's needs. I would recommended this hospital to anyone looking for top notch veterinary care for their pet. As a local of the area I had taken my dog to this veterinarian twice. Both times the service was cold and unfriendly. Dr. Finwick is much more interested in curing you of your dollars than caring and aiding for your pet. A simple check up and a quick run of blood work will cost you a cool $750!!! What a rip off! Save yourself from being ripped off as I just was and go somewhere else!! read more

Very nice and helpful, although they weren't able to see my dog when she was sick as a new patient they pointed me in the right direction giving me there recommendation and if I couldn't find any appointments anywhere they gave me the option to hospitalize her and they would take care of her! They were so nice and caring I immediately switched them to be my primary vet! read more

Dr. Fenwick and her staff pulled my sweet Sherlock Kitty back from the brink and have worked with me to get him on an even keel. Visits are on time and professional.
